Bible Verse of The Day – 3-28-24

Psalm 46:1 (KJV) 1 God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.

I can’t count the number of times I’ve had to run to God to get help in my lifetime; to get answers, or some guidance. So many times, and I still do.

He has a way of settling us down.

When we are up in the air about something, His peace will give us rest.

His steadfast strength just fills us when we bask in His presence. Oh, how He will calm our nerves. He surely knows how to care for His child.

What a refuge He is for us all. He is sound, reliable, trustworthy and a continual help!

There are days when fear and exhaustion will overtake us, and we will want to lay ourselves down and stay there. He will be there at that moment to stand us up by His strength. He will save us.

Isaiah 35:3-4 (NKJV) 3 Strengthen the weak hands, And make firm the feeble knees. 4 Say to those who are fearful-hearted, “Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, With the recompense of God; He will come and save you.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-27-24

2 Corinthians 4:17-18 (NKJV) 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, 18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

As we each face various trials or seasons of abrupt, unexpected change, our thoughts can run away with visions of impending disaster.

As the enemy attacks our minds, we will frequently envision the very worst scenarios.

But as we allow God to bring truth and His light into our situations, we will begin to see and understand that the things we fret over are truly only temporal. They are of this world.

We need to allow God to teach us how to keep our minds on the things unseen; the things above.

You see, if we spend our time and energy focused on the things of earth, we can lose sight of the things of God; the things unseen.

The things of this earth carry no weight regarding eternity. They will quickly fade away.

But as we turn our eyes to what is unseen, we will begin to recognize God’s sovereignty and understand that those things with eternal ramifications are what is most important.

Time spent fretting over earthy things is time wasted.

Knowing that, it is important for us to fix our gaze squarely on God and allow Him to be glorified in everything about our lives, including the times and seasons of trials.

All these things are working to build our faith, strengthen our character, and teach us perseverance as we learn to trust in God.

Let us focus not on the things of this earth, but on the things unseen. For those things bear eternal weight of glory.

Colossians 3:2 (NKJV) 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-26-24

Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV) 3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

God will answer us. But it is our responsibility to take the time to pray and call out to Him. He will show us great and mighty things.

Are we calling to Him? Or are we sitting back waiting for answers and expecting Him to read our minds?

Many of God’s children don’t know that they need to call on Him. They think that He will just take care of everything, and we just wait for Him.

This is not true. We play a part in this, and God is waiting on us to do our part.

One thing I have learned over the years is that when we are in need it is not up to Him to chase us down. We chase Him.

Get up early! Pray, worship, cry out with everything in us.

He wants us to come to Him so He can show us, guide us, and take us places we never knew we could go.

When we become God’s children through faith in Jesus Christ, we now have direct access to our Heavenly Father.

We can call His name and He will answer us and show us great and mighty things!

John 1:12-13 (NKJV) 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Call on Him today!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-25-24

Galatians 5:16-17 (NKJV) 16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.

As followers of Christ, we should desire to live our lives in a way that is pleasing to God.

Our flesh has a way of trying to steer us in the wrong direction.

It will continually attempt to drive us back toward things that Christ has set us free from.

The Holy Spirit, on the other hand, will continually lead us to God, the giver of true freedom.

If someone is wrestling with addictions, the flesh will crave the thing we are addicted to. It will lead us into situations where we will be tempted, making it harder for us to break free from that addiction.

If we struggle with lust, the flesh will urge us to do things that satisfy our craving for anything sexual.

If we wrestle with lying, our flesh will prompt us to lie.

The enemy constantly attacks us, and our flesh seems to enjoy going along for the ride, rushing headlong toward destruction.

Rehabs and various programs can help to some extent. They can point us in the right direction.

But they can never truly set us free.

Conversely, The Holy Spirit breaks the chains of sin, setting us free permanently.

Yes, we must continue to choose what is right. And the enemy will still taunt us and attempt to lure us back in.

But if the Son sets us free, we are free indeed. Sin no longer has power over our flesh.

As we allow God to touch our hearts and renew our minds, the desire to chase after the things that destroy us will fade into the distance. And the grip that specific sins once had will be torn down, gone forever.

John 8:36 (NKJV) 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

Let us fully surrender to the Holy Spirit, that He may make us free indeed.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-23-24

James 5:15 (NKJV) 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

Oh, how important it is to pray!

We can never take prayer for granted. It is not a ritual. It is not a thing that we do only when we are in need. It is not something we do nonchalantly.

Prayer is powerful and it brings change!

Prayer is the key to see God move over and over again, in our lives and in the lives of others here on earth. The prayer of faith saves the sick!

How many of us are praying today for someone we know who is sick? Keep praying for them.

It is a busy life we live. We can all attest to that.

Our days just go by so quickly, but we must make time. We must prioritize our time so that we are praying prayers of faith for the sick.

There are many people today that are struggling for their lives. They are facing terminal illnesses; they are sick and need our prayers. They don’t even know if they’ll have a tomorrow.

Let us make a commitment in our hearts today to trust God and pray for the sick, for the lost, and for those in need., that through our prayers of faith, He will raise them up.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-22-24

2 Corinthians 5:14 (NKJV) 14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died;

This is a great example of a verse where the depth of it can easily be missed if we fail to take the time to dig in and get understanding.

Paul states that the love of Christ compels him (and others), which is very straight forward.

The love that Christ exhibited by choosing to allow Himself to be crucified for each of us obligates us to share the truth of God’s love and the salvation found in Christ with others.

He then states, at the end of that verse (14), “because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died”.

If we fail to pay attention, we will breeze right past this part of verse 14, especially when we realize that it might take a few minutes’ worth of digging to get to its true meaning.

But let us look at it right now, so we understand what Paul is referring to.

Paul stated that One died for all, referring to Christ sacrificing His life for all of humanity.

Next, he states “then all died”.

This may seem confusing to some, so let us look more closely.

Based on the phrase, One died for all, the phrase “all died” is referring to all who place their faith in Christ symbolically dying and being raised to new life in Him.

Further, and just as importantly, it points to us dying to ourselves if we have chosen to follow Him.

Dying to ourselves is not a popular topic. Dying to ourselves requires a sacrifice on our part that many are not willing to make.

If we struggle with this, then we must seriously consider the price that Christ paid as payment for our own sins.

He paid the ultimate price. So, is it too much to ask that we also make sacrifices in our own lives?

Paul later penned these words, reinforcing the idea that we be willing to “put our money where our mouth is” and glorify God with our bodies.

1 Corinthians 6:20 (NKJV) 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

And, lastly, he encourages believers to present their bodies as living sacrifices.

The question we need to ask ourselves is “will we?”

Will we take the necessary steps to sacrifice our preferences and put Him before our own wants?

Romans 12:1 (NKJV) 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-21-24

Matthew 17:20 (NKJV) 20 So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

Faith is something that we all need to be walking in. This verse is a good reminder for us all today.

Life can take its toll on us at times and cause our faith to get pushed down. It can make us feel like, “what just happened to me?”.

Life. That’s what just happened.

You just never know what we will be facing from one day to the next. And when hard times hit, our faith is surely tested.

Having faith despite what we see or hear going on in our life is really a great opportunity to see God move in our very scary situation!

If we have just a tiny bit of it, nothing is impossible.

That’s awesome news because God has dealt (given to) each of us a measure of this much-needed faith to move mountains with.

We cannot do the impossible without having faith in Him. We need this faith moving, active, and working in our lives daily!

Romans 12:3 (NKJV) 3 For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

When hard times come and we are facing the most devasting thing we have ever had to face, remember that faith in God will help us get over to the other side of whatever we are facing.

What is it today we are needing God to help us with?

Have faith in Him. And whatever He guides us in doing, do it.

We should not talk ourselves out of it or doubt His guidance.

We need to follow Him; stick to Him like glue. He will walk us through it all. Step by step!

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-20-24

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

God tells us that we should not lean on our own understanding.

Why?

He has given us a brain. He has given us the ability to think and to reason.

Why then should we not lean (rely) on our own understanding?

It is important for us to understand that there are some things that are beyond our reasoning and our human understanding.

God’s ways are higher than our ways. His thoughts are higher than our thoughts.

Isaiah 55:9 (NKJV) 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

He wants us to think and reason, but He also wants us to rely on the Holy Spirit when making choices and decisions.

Human emotions are like a rollercoaster. They can cause us to make rash decisions that cost us dearly.

Situations we face can cause us to become fearful. Fear will have us running frantically, looking for a solution to our problem when God wants us to run to Him.

He holds the answer to every problem that we will ever face in our lifetime.

Some answers will be simple. Some will be a bit more complicated. And others will defy human logic.

Hence, going to God instead of always trying to figure things out based on our own understanding.

This is a learning process. In fact, it is a lifelong learning process. It has no end.

But over time, it will become less difficult for us to “get it” and we will begin going to God first, instead of waiting until we have been backed into a corner.

And when we do get it, our lives will become less stressful. And fear will dissipate as we learn to look to Him for our help and our understanding.

Bible Verse of the Day – 3-19-24

Matthew 11:28-30 (NKJV) 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

What part of these verses caught my attention today? “Learn from Me”.

It’s so important that we learn from Jesus. The whole Bible was written so we could learn, grow and live an abundant life in Him!

Everything we need to know is in there. And if we learn the right way of doing things, we won’t be heavy laden, for His yoke is easy.

The hard part is “unlearning” those things we’ve been taught that are incorrect and have been habitual for most of our lives.

It’s not easy starving old habits and changing up our routines. Our flesh loves both and most times will fight tooth and nail for them to remain.

If we want rest, though, we must stick to and follow His plan.

First, go to Him.

He says, come to Me. Not to your family, not your best friend, not your neighbor, or even those closest to us. But to Him.

Second, follow Him and learn from Him. His word will teach us everything we need to know.

Third, enter His rest. As we obey Him, the heavy burden will be lifted.

The Lord is good! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-18-24

2 Corinthians 1:8-9 (NLT) 8 We think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters, about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it. 9 In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead.

One of the things that stands out about these verses is the desperation that Paul expressed in his situation while in Asia.

He and his companions fully expected that they would not make it out alive; that they would die.

The most important aspect of this is what Paul said after this; as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God.

This is a massive truth that we all need to get embedded in us.

Desperate situations force us to rely on God and trust Him more.

Effortless living makes us soft and faithless. We have no need for God.

Times of trials and tribulations squeeze us.

Distress pushes us toward the One who is our source of rescue; our light in the darkness.

Oh, how we hate trials.

But what we learn from walking through those trials is invaluable.

And if someone with the spiritual stature of the Apostle Paul is willing to admit this, then we should take note!

Let us trust in God who delivers us. And let us cast our doubts aside.

He alone is our Hope.

Psalm 40:1-2 (NKJV) 1 I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry. 2 He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps.
