Bible Verse of The Day – 11-12-24

Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV) 10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

We need to enjoy our time with the Lord.

Come before Him with great expectation, knowing that He hears our prayers and wants to help us.

Now, we need to understand that helping us doesn’t mean He will do things the way we want them done. It doesn’t mean He will answer us in our expected timeframe.

But He will help us!

Whatever is good for us, whatever will better us, and what will help us grow, that is what He will deliver. That will be His answer.

We will see Him move greatly in our situation if we are willing to wait for His answers and take the necessary steps that he shows us to take.

This is where most of us have problems. We want or need it solved immediately.

But God moves at His pace. He has His reasons, and we must trust that it will be the perfect timing.

God loves us more than we could ever understand. His love toward us is amazing.

Zephaniah 3:17 (NKJV) 17 The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”

Spend time with Him and know that He will help you in all areas of your life as you do so.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-11-24

John 8:32 (NKJV) 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

People tend to love partial truths.

Partial truths make us feel good. They stroke our ego and tell us what a good person we are and assure us that we are OK; all is well with our souls.

But a partial truth is dangerous.

Why?

Because it fails to tell the whole story. A partial truth leaves room for untruth to gain a foothold.

You see, Jesus told us that the truth shall make us free.

But a partial truth leaves us stuck in bondage; chains that we refuse to recognize while we are basking in the comfort of a partial truth.

The whole truth can be uncomfortable for us. It speaks unapologetically, causing us to see things that we may not like to see.

But if we embrace that truth, no matter the discomfort associated with doing so, it opens the door for freedom and deliverance to come, giving us true freedom.

So, if God shows us ourselves, and He puts His finger on something that is not pleasing to Him, something that causes separation between us and Him, it is critical that we not run from it but turn and face it with the help of the Holy Spirit.

It is in this that we find freedom from the things that have bound us for so long.

And it is in this that we can finally see those chains smashed to pieces, allowing us to walk in freedom that only God can bring.

Let us no longer be satisfied with partial truths that bring comfort. But let us openly invite God to show us the whole truth, give us the strength by His Spirit to face those truths, and allow Him to help us walk out the steps He has for us to finally know and experience true freedom that is found in the Truth.

John 14:6 (NKJV) 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-9-24

Psalm 34:4 (NKJV) 4 I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears.

I once was so fearful in my life. I trembled at being alone.

I was so afraid that one time, as I was down in my basement doing laundry, I heard something and I froze.

I was running water at the time. And because I froze and became distracted by what I heard, the water overflowed onto the floor, snapping me out of my frozen position.

Being afraid is not good. The enemy will use it to “freeze” us, symbolically speaking. He will keep us as believers in one place if he can.

I prayed to God and asked Him to help me overcome my fear of being alone. I waited and sought Him for deliverance from such a thing.

During an evening service in church sometime later, the Pastor gave an altar call. I happened to be sitting in the front row that night.

When he encouraged anyone who needs prayer to come forward, I knew I needed prayer, and I so wanted to take the few steps to get up there.

But I was frozen. Again I could not move.

My legs would not move. And as the Pastor began to pray for others, I remained there, wanting so badly to take those steps forward.

When he had finished praying for all those up front, he was led to come over and pray for me. Only God knew.

And that night I was delivered. Fear left me. Thank you, Jesus Christ!

Did I have to remind myself whenever fear would try to attack me again? Yes. And I did!

I will no longer be afraid of being alone. God has delivered me!

Psalm 145:18 (NKJV) 18 The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth.

He is always near. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-8-24

Ephesians 4:14 (NKJV) 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,

As Paul wrote to the believers at Ephesus, he exhorted them, encouraging them to walk the walk of faith in a way that glorified God and demonstrated maturity in Christ.

The entire fourth chapter was dedicated to this.

As part of his efforts to steer the Ephesians in the right direction, he taught them about spiritual gifts given by God for the edification of the body.

He reminded them that God has given leaders in the body to teach believers in the ways of righteousness and coming-of-age as Christians.

He listed 5 specific “offices” for this purpose; apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers (Ephesians 4:11).

Paul’s purpose in sharing this was to lead believers to a stronger relationship with Christ, that they would not stumble and wallow in immaturity, being tossed to and fro as a ship on the sea.

And in the verses above, he warned them to heed the words and the instructions of those whom God had placed among them to teach them and raise them up, that they would not be tossed about with every wind of doctrine.

You see, God has sufficiently equipped us as a body, not leaving us as orphans to wander blindly and fend for ourselves. But as children with sound leadership, and the discernment of the Holy Spirit.

And He has given His word; a handbook for life, supplying us with what we need so that we would know Him and gain spiritual understanding, and be quick to recognize the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting.

And that we run far from it under the leading of His Spirit.

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-7-24

Acts 4:36-37 (NKJV) 36 And Joses, who was also named Barnabas by the apostles (which is translated Son of Encouragement), a Levite of the country of Cyprus, 37 having land, sold it, and brought the money and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

Throughout the book of  Acts we can see by his actions that Barnabas was an encourager.

He was sent out by the other disciples to encourage the people, that they would continue to preach after the persecution of Stephen.

Acts 11:23 (NKJV) 23 When he came and had seen the grace of God, he was glad, and encouraged them all that with purpose of heart they should continue with the Lord.

He encouraged them to keep going, keep doing what God put in their hearts to do!

Saul, who later became Paul, was initially not accepted by the disciples. But thank God for Barnabas; he took him in and let him work alongside him despite him being rejected by the others.

We all need a Barnabas in our lives.

He surely understood giving people a chance.

God had touched Saul’s life and he had done a complete turnaround. He went from persecuting Christians to becoming an on-fire-for-God Christian!

But the disciples, being cautious, had a hard time believing this. And they were afraid to let him in.

They sent him to Tarsus. But Barnabas went after Saul, took him in, and together, over the next year, they taught a great many people.

Acts 11:25-26 (NKJV) 25 Then Barnabas departed for Tarsus to seek Saul. 26 And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.

God changed Saul’s name to Paul.

Paul and Barnabas did a great ministry work together. And Paul wanted to go back with Barnabas to every city they had visited to see how the people there were doing.

But a disagreement arose when Barnabas was determined to take with them John, called Mark.

This same disciple had previously abandoned both Paul and Barnabas. And Paul insisted that they not bring him along.

Acts 13:13 (NKJV) 13 Now when Paul and his party set sail from Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia; and John, departing from them, returned to Jerusalem.

But Barnabas, “the encourager”, was determined to bring him along.

This brought contention between Barnabas and Paul, and they went their separate ways.

Later, Paul did change his mind about how he felt about Mark.

Colossians 4:10 (NKJV) 10 Aristarchus my fellow prisoner greets you, with Mark the cousin of Barnabas (about whom you received instructions: if he comes to you, welcome him),

Barnabas brought encouragement wherever he went. He helped give people chances that would later impact the world positively for the kingdom of God.

Let us learn from Barnabas, even if we know what someone has done in their past.

And as God leads us in this, give them time to learn. Time to see their error and fix it if they are willing to do so.

Let us encourage them, not throw them away.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-6-24

Proverbs 11:13 (NKJV) 13 A talebearer reveals secrets, But he who is of a faithful spirit conceals a matter.

Being trustworthy with the things others tell us is not something that we often think about.

Nonetheless, it is critical for us to grasp the importance of this in our day-to-day lives.

When someone shares a private matter with us, they do so with the understanding that we will hold it in confidence; we will not tell others.

And so it should be. Being trustworthy is a characteristic that should be natural for us.

As followers of Christ, our lives should emulate Jesus, bringing honor to God in the things we say and do.

Betraying the trust of others is something that we should be careful not to do. And if we have ever experienced betrayal of this kind, we will understand the importance of that statement.

So, let us be careful to honor God by honoring the faith and trust others put in us to keep their confidential and personal matters what they were meant to be; secrets that are safe.

May God be glorified in all that we do.

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-5-24

Psalm 34:4 (NKJV) 4 I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears.

As a child, growing up with my brothers, I was taught all about sports. And I was taught arm wrestling.

Despite being a girl, I had to hold my own or I was in trouble.

My 6 brothers were tough on me. And my older sisters were all grown up and had moved out.

I didn’t get into the girly stuff. I was more like a tomboy. I learned to be physically strong and athletic at a very young age.

When I joined sports in school, and they saw that I could perform better than most boys in my age group, it became a problem for me. They would move me up to higher levels.

I would go from JV to Varsity quickly. I didn’t like it. I wanted to be with my friends, not the older kids. I wanted to stay in my age bracket. Hang out and be comfortable.

So, I’d quit the team.

It was a scary thing for me. Fear kept me from advancing and allowing myself to be physically challenged and become a better athlete.

Isn’t it funny how fear will hold us back?

How many of us today look back and are frustrated by the decisions we made because we were fearful of making the move?

The enemy loves it when God’s children walk in fear every day, just so we stay in one place and not advance in this life.

He loves that our desire for comfort keeps us from wanting to step outside of the norm.

He knows if he can keep us fearful of this or fearful of that, we won’t advance. And it makes his work easier.

He loves for us to keep telling ourselves we can’t do it, we’re not good enough.

But God has another plan for us. If we push aside our fears and wait on Him to help us through those things that come before us, we will rise, we will walk and not faint!

Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) 31 But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

I’m speaking to someone today. Let God help you through that fear. Don’t quit.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-4-24

Colossians 2:6-7 (NKJV) 6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.

As we put our faith in Christ. We begin a growing process.

A root is created, and it begins to grow.

A seed has been planted. And it has sprouted into a seedling.

That root is small at first, and very delicate. The seedling (our newfound faith in Christ) needs tender care and nurturing to grow and become strong.

That single, tiny root needs to become stronger and multiply, becoming many large “root branches” over time.

Those “root branches” need to get deep into the soil and spread, giving us strength and resilience.

That strength and resilience is needed to help us stand strong when we face the storms (trials and tribulations) that life is sure to bring.

How deep our roots grow is determined solely by us. No one can grow them for us.

We choose whether we deny ourselves the necessary sustenance or feast on the nutrition that is necessary to give us those strong roots.

So, how do we grow our roots and make them strong?

The first essential step is to read God’s word. Feast on it. Absorb it as though our life depends on it; because it does!

And we get sound teaching that is firmly rooted in God’s word.

We avoid hype-based teaching that plays solely on our emotions and uses only snippets of scripture, many times taken out of context, in an effort to get us excited while failing to teach the whole truth of God’s word.

Our emotions are fickle and changeable. We should not rely on them because they change like the wind.

But God is steadfast!

He supplies us with what is needed to get those roots deep and strong; able to withstand whatever comes our way.

And that strength can make a mighty warrior, fighting in the army of God against the wiles of the devil himself.

Are we willing to do what it takes to grow those roots to be deep and strong?

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-2-24

Psalm 128:2 (NKJV) 2 When you eat the labor of your hands, You shall be happy, and it shall be well with you.

I remember as a child my dad would go out every Spring and get the rototiller out of the shed and begin to plow the ground where our garden was going to be.

That ground would be hard and matted down; compressed from the hard, cold winter months.

I would see him working so hard to keep that rototiller going in a straight path. If he didn’t hold it in place, it would bounce back and forth, from side to side as it tried to break the ground.

Eventually it would begin to get a little easier for him as the tines broke ground and got a little deeper down into the soil.

For my Dad, this was hard work. It must have been tiring for him to do.

Maybe some of us are feeling tired.

The ground we have been plowing has been taking its toll on us.

It’s been hard ground to prepare and break up, having to push through each day. And sometimes it makes us feel like giving up and putting down the plow.

But God is saying, “well done! Stay steadfast. The winds of change are coming.”

After the rototilling is done, the next step is planting the seeds!

This doesn’t mean we can just kick back and relax. That would cause all our hard work to go to waste.

There’s still watering, weeding, and nurturing if we want it to grow and be fruitful.

But know that better days are coming.

We will receive the reward when we see that beautiful bud on that plant and watch it grow to its fullness!

We will eat and enjoy the fruits of our work and be happy when they produce a harvest!
