Bible Verse of The Day – 7-25-24

Ephesians 5:15-16 (NKJV) 15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

What does it mean to walk circumspectly?

It means to work hard at living carefully or discreetly. To live wisely, morally, and cautiously.

Following His commandments should be evident in our lives.

Anyone watching us should be able to say, hey, they are Christian folks.

We don’t know when Jesus is returning for us. But that shouldn’t matter. Today is here and now, and we know what we need to do.

The walk we choose is not easy. But who ever said it would be?

We have a responsibility to carry ourselves a certain way.

There will be times we will make a mistake or many mistakes. But get back up and push forward to do better the next time.

Let us pray for each other.

Dear God,

Help us walk in such a way that even in the days with evil running rampant we will be a strong witness through our actions, that Your light in us will shine bright as we choose righteous living.

May we be so careful in our walk to follow and obey You, that through it others will know that we are Christians by our love.

Today, as Your children, we stand together knowing You are our Vine, and without you we can do nothing. Help us bear fruit even in such heavy times, Lord.

John 15:5 (NKJV) 5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-24-24

Romans 3:23-24 (NKJV) 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus…

God is a God of grace and of mercy. His word teaches us this repeatedly.

Sometimes this can be difficult for us to fully understand.

First, it is hard for us to comprehend that we can be forgiven for the things we have done.

Second, it is sometimes difficult for us to understand scripture and the way it is worded.

Why? because we are spiritually dead before we trust Christ as our savior and redeemer, and the Holy Spirit has not yet opened our understanding.

Words like “justified” and “redemption” are often unknown to us even as the Holy Spirit draws us to God.

Despite our lack of understanding, our spiritual ignorance, His wooing causes us to grasp the fact that we are lost and in need of forgiveness.

It is in this persistent drawing of our heart to Him that we begin to recognize our lost condition.

We begin to see our sinfulness. We understand that we are without hope, and that He is the only true source of hope.

We begin to understand that we are walking in darkness, and that He is the one true Light.

And we become aware that the blood of Christ is the only thing that can cleanse us and make us new.

And by His grace and mercy He does just that; makes us brand new!

By His blood we are not only washed. We are redeemed!

The price of our sins is paid for by the blood of Jesus as we understand our lost condition and put our faith in Him.

He gives His mercy freely, at no cost, to anyone who asks.

And we are justified, made worthy to stand before Him without shame, by His grace (undeserved favor).

There is power in the blood of Christ that none of us will ever fully comprehend. But that power is there, nonetheless.

And the redemption offered by His blood He will not refuse to give to any who will sincerely seek it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-23-24

Genesis 2:3 (NKJV) 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

We need to know our limits and take a day of rest from all our work too!

Some will look at this and say, “well, there is only one me and who is going to do the rest of the work that needs to get done? If I don’t do it, it doesn’t get done, rest is not in the picture for me.”

No matter how much work needs to get done, or how many responsibilities we have on our plate, there is always time to take a break, even if it is for just a short time. We need to rest!

Sometimes the journey we are on, the season we are in, calls us into rest. Don’t neglect what our bodies are telling us to do.

When we take a rest, we are helping ourselves. We are more alert, more patient, more understanding and quicker at discerning situations.

It will help us in the long run and we will see that by resting or breaking when we need to, we will get much more done than we thought we would get done before we rested.

Tiredness will only go away when we get the proper rest. Take a day off and don’t feel guilty about it.

Remember, it’s important to rest from the things we do day to day.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-22-24

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

As I look back on my life, and on the lives of others that I know, the transformative power of Christ becomes clearer every day.

I sometimes think back to who I was as a teenager, and remember some of the things that I did, and it makes me thankful for the blood of Jesus and the mercy of God.

I am ashamed of some of the things I did when I was young. But I know that they were washed away, and I was made a new creation on December 12, 1982, my spiritual birthday.

And so have we all done things that we look back on and wish we had not done.

But God is mightier than our sins and the darkness we once walked in. And He offers His redemption through the sacrifice made on the cross.

In addition to my own transformation, I have witnessed the power of the blood of Christ in the lives of so many others; people I knew when I was young, and others that I have met along the path of my life.

It is mind blowing to see God take truly messy human lives that seemed beyond hope and completely make them new. It defies all odds and confounds human logic.

But I know this one thing; it is real.

God is above human thinking. And He operates outside the boundaries of our understanding and our finite ideas and ponderings.

Let us all reflect on what God has done in our lives and be infinitely grateful for His redemption and for making us new creations in Christ!

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-20-24

John 15:5 (NKJV) 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

This morning as I was praying, I saw very clearly a beautiful picture of vines. And silently I said to myself. “What was that?”

I immediately looked up scriptures with the word vine in it. The very first one that came up was the scripture, “I am the vine!”

I knew that God was reassuring me that I need to trust Him.

Not people, not things, not anything other than Him.

Trust in Him for our provision.

Trust in Him for our healing.

Trust in Him for our answer.

Trust in Him for our daily needs.

Think about how we breathe; it comes naturally.

As God’s children, that’s how we ought to trust Him. It should be natural and effortless, where we don’t even think about it. We just do it automatically. Every day, every hour, every minute, and in every situation.

But what happens? Fear, concerns and anxiety all try to attack us and cause us to doubt when our situation changes.

He is our Vine; trust Him! Without Him we can do nothing.

Today is a good day to be reminded that we are well taken care of, and to trust in our Vine; Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

The Lord has us! Amen.

Bible Verse of the Day – 7-19-24

Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV) 3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

Some of us may look at God as being big and far away; too big and too far to be relatable.

But this is not the God we serve.

Our God is personal. He loves us with a love that we as humans cannot comprehend.

He wants us to be close to Him. He wants us to know Him intimately. He wants to show us things; things that we could never imagine!

He is calling each of us, beckoning.

Seek me. Search for Me. Find Me.

Let me show you who I am.

Let me teach you, shape you, and mold you.

I have plans for you. And they are beyond what you may expect or dream of.

I know you better than you know yourself.

I know your needs. I know your desires.

Let me take you, take your desires, and teach you how to make My desires yours.

Let me transform you, replacing your heart of stone with a heart of flesh; a new heart that beats for Me.

And as you let Me do this, I will show you things; mighty (inaccessible) things that will shape your life and your thinking, altering your eternal destiny.

I am Yahweh, Adonai, Elohim; the God who restores you, sets you free and sustains you.

Trust Me with your entire being. Give your life wholly to Me. Surrender to my Spirit.

Live life for Me and you will see Me move in ways that you have never seen before.

Call to Me. I will answer.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-18-24

1 John 1:4 (NKJV) 4 And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.

The joy that John speaks of here does not come from material wealth and success.

This joy is a divine character that we receive from God through His Holy Spirit living in us. It is a knowing of Who He is!

The joy of the Lord is given to us when we make Him our Savior; when we put our faith and trust in Him.

This joy that comes from Him will stick with us through hard times, even when we want to cry out from our pain inside.

Instead, a song of praise will rise up from this joy that is strong even in times of fear.

Paul and Silas were able to pray and sing after being severely beaten and thrown in prison.

Acts 16:25 (NKJV) 25 But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.

When situations like this arise, unless we have the joy of the Lord in us, it’s very difficult to pull ourselves together and act accordingly.

This joy of the Lord sticks with us because of the foundation which it is built on; knowing that He existed before His manifestation in the proper time, knowing that He was birthed through a virgin woman and assumed real manhood, knowing He is our Savior who came and died for our sins.

This joy is unstoppable!

It will take us from the lowest valley to the highest mountain. It is our strength, and it remains in us all today.

John 15:11 (NKJV) 11 “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-17-24

Zechariah 14:9 (LSB) 9 And Yahweh will be king over all the earth; in that day Yahweh will be the only one, and His name one.

As I approach my 62nd birthday, I tend to reflect a lot more than I used to, looking back not just on my own life, but on the world we live in.

I do not do this to reminisce, but to ponder on the things I have seen and that I see now.

I see the world through different eyes than I did when I was young. I am no longer naïve, nor am I spiritually blind any longer.

I recognize evil for what it is. I see its far-reaching effects, and the havoc that it wreaks in the lives of those who embrace it.

And it is with this understanding that I say with the utmost confidence that there is only one name that matters to me. It is Yahweh. He is my God and my Rock.

His name is forever, and His plans are true and trustworthy.

And it is in His plans that I rest, knowing that if I follow Him and His leading, I cannot go wrong.

The world will pass away, even as it is now decaying before our eyes, rotting with the evil that is consuming it.

He is my Safe Haven, the shelter that I run to for my peace and assurance.

He is my Provider, ever faithful to bring me through whatever storms I may face.

And He is my Redeemer, the Forgiver of my sins as I repent and trust Him with everything about my life.

My God, I love You, adore You, and worship You with all my heart.

I look toward the day when you will be King over all the earth, destroying evil once and for all.

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-16-24

1 John 2:6 (NKJV) 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.

The only way to know how He walked is to study and learn of Him through His word.

In His word, He gives us advice on everything we may encounter. He gives real-life examples throughout each book.

Taking the time to read and study the scriptures will help us stay strong and think the way He thought.

We will learn to act based on situations and things we encounter, instead of reacting out of fear, emotion, or our own intellect.

His teachings will hold our feet to the fire, so to speak, keeping us accountable.

He is calling each and every one of us into a clean, righteous walk with Him. A journey of being renewed in our hearts and minds. A road of transformation.

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Boot camp for life as you will.

Yes, in areas where we are weak, we will gain His strength through abiding in Him and be transformed in the way we think and act.

Are we ready to walk like Him?

Only we can make that happen by spending time drawing close to Him through learning who He is and how He functioned in everyday situations while He walked the earth in human flesh.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-15-24

2 Corinthians 4:17-18 (NKJV) 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, 18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

While these verses mention afflictions and are frequently used to give hope and encouragement regarding those afflictions that we all face from time to time, today we are going to look at something other than afflictions or trials.

Look at that last sentence!

First, it says that we are not looking at things that are seen, but those things that are not seen, reminding us that tangible, earthly things should not be our focus.

We are also reminded that earthly things are temporary. They are here one moment and gone the next.

Hope placed in earthly things is misplaced hope that can be shattered in a split second.

And look at those last several words; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

We live in a tangible world, but we are not of this world.

We frequently build our lives around the here and now, expending great energy on earthly things that crumble without warning, leaving us rushing to find something to hold onto.

As followers of Christ, we have much available to teach us on this topic, as Jesus was faithful to teach His disciples these same truths. And it was some of these very same things that they wrestled with so badly as they learned to discern between the natural and the spiritual realm.

Paul summed it all very neatly when He said the following:

Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV) 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Let us continue to learn and grow, growing to recognize and discern between the natural realm and the things of the spiritual realm, that we do not waste our time chasing after things that wither and fade away.
