Category: Trusting God

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-16-15

Hebrews 13:8 (NKJV) 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Nowadays it’s hard to find anything that’s stable for very long.

The economy is a mess worldwide. Jobs no longer offer stability. Relationships always seem to be on the rocks, falling apart under the stress and pressures of life.

But we don’t have to fear this instability, no matter what the world throws at us.

If our faith and trust is in Christ, we have a solid foundation under us. Our lives are not subject to the ups and downs of what life throws at us.

Yes, the storms will come. And, yes, we may get knocked around a bit in those storms, and sometimes we may even be wounded and have scars to show for it. But if we are anchored in Christ, we will prevail and we will be victorious in our lives!

Matthew 7:24-25 (NKJV) 24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

It’s all about our faith and where it lies. Is our trust in the things and the institutions of this world, or are we anchored in Jesus Christ?

Only we can answer this question. And only we can make this choice. Choose Christ.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-9-15

Romans 8:38-39 (NKJV) 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Have you ever doubted God?

I don’t mean that maybe you doubted something that you asked God to do. I mean, have you ever doubted that He exists?

The enemy of our soul will try to get in our heads and convince us that everything we believe is a lie. He will try to get us to doubt our faith and he’ll tell us that everything we do in the name of Christ is a waste of time.

But let me tell you something. Don’t believe it for one second. Not even for a fraction of a second!

If God didn’t exist, the devil wouldn’t be spending his time trying to convince you of it.

Every once in a while the enemy will try to mess with my head. He’ll try to get me to doubt my faith, even for a tiny bit of a second.

But I’m just as quick to tell him to shut his pie hole and leave, in the name of Jesus.

You see, I’ve seen way too much to ever doubt God. I’ve seen things He’s done in the lives of others. I’ve seen him heal my body from asthma, after having it for 30 years. I’ve seen Him deliver people from demonic oppression. And I’ve seen so much more.

God has made it hard for me to doubt Him and easy to have faith in Him and trust Him with everything about my life.

I know that’s not necessarily the case for others. I know that sometimes life can hit you hard, right between the eyes. And while you’re still trying to recover from that blow, you get hit from behind and it feels like you can’t breathe.

But no matter what comes your way, don’t ever let the enemy cause you to doubt God. He is life. Without Him there is nothing. He is our source for everything we need.

So when he whispers in your ear and tells you that God doesn’t exist, or that God is a liar, get right back in his face and tell him he’s wasting his time.

And then rebuke him in the name of Jesus and command him to leave you alone.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-7-15

Matthew 19:26 (NKJV) 26 But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

It was many years ago that my brother lost his 4 year old beautiful little princess. She fell out of the car while driving down the road and as he held her in his arms in the middle of the road, her last word was “Daddy”.

She could breathe while he held her in his arms, but as soon as he had to lay her down for the paramedics to take her, her lungs filled up with blood and she died almost instantly.

Arriving at the hospital, where they had taken her body, I will never forget what I saw. The precious little body of my niece soiled in blood. It was the coldest, darkest day I have known.

We may think “how can anyone continue on with their life after that?”. How can we even imagine life anymore after losing someone we love so dearly? Someone that meant the world to us.

You see. with men some things that happen in this life are just unbearable, too hard, and impossible for us to get through on our own.

God knows this. He feels our pain today. He gave us this verse because He knows our frailty, or fragileness, for He created us and He gave us this verse to help us.

Don’t try to live this life alone; we need HIM!!

Give yourself and your situation to Him today. With Him, we will make it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-27-14

Genesis 50:20 (NKJV) 20 But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.

We all go through bad things.

Sometimes they’re minor and sometimes they’re major and life-changing.

Life can throw us some pretty hefty changes. Some of these changes can be due to choices or decisions we’ve made. Others can be things that happen that are completely out of our control.

Either way, they can sometimes turn our world upside down!

When life does throw these kinds of things at us and we feel like the rug has been pulled from under our feet, it can be very easy to throw ourselves a pity party, or maybe even throw a little temper tantrum, and feel really, really bad for ourselves.

Or, we can trust God, do our best to keep our head up, and keep moving forward, thanking God for each new day. Because in the end, regardless of whether this change was the result of our own bad choices or evil done to us by someone else, if we trust God and let Him work it all out, some really good things can come out of it all.

Joseph was sold into slavery by his very own brothers. They intended it for evil.

But God had other plans and turned it into something that would save the lives of hundreds of thousands, or maybe even millions of people.

So whatever we’re going through today, right now, let’s trust God to turn it into something good.

We just need to be patient, wait on His timing and follow His leading.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-11-14

1 Kings 19:11-12 (NKJV) 11 Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; 12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.

I love the fact that when God passed by Elijah, there was a great wind that came and tore into the mountains, breaking the rocks into pieces, simply by His presence! God is so awesome and powerful.

But at the same time, I love the fact that He speaks to us in a still, small voice. A voice that requires us to have faith, to be still and listen for Him.

If God moved with mighty winds and crashing thunder all the time it would require no faith or effort on our part. Our walk with Him would require nothing more than us looking for the next big crash and then knowing that God was there.

But because He chooses to speak to us quietly, it requires us to pay attention to Him and make a conscious choice to want to hear Him.

Yes, it might seem harder that way, but anything that’s really worth having takes a bit of effort on our part.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-28-14

Matthew 6:27 (NKJV) 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

What are you worrying about today?

Is it your budget and your finances? Is it your loved ones who are lost or have strayed from God? Is it your bills that are past due, as they pile up and the bill collectors call relentlessly?

Maybe it’s none of these, or maybe it’s all of them and others that we didn’t mention. It really doesn’t matter which of them it might be. It doesn’t matter whether it’s something “small” or not, we tend to worry about so many things in life.

Sometimes it seems like we spend more time worrying than not worrying. But God wants us to trust Him  with everything, even when those things seem impossible to overcome.

Trials and tough times test us and show us who we are and where our faith lies. When hard times come, do we immediately start trying to figure it all out and sort out the details of how we’re going to fix the problem?

Or do we give God room to move in our situation, resting in Him and doing only those things that He shows us to do? It’s hard to do this at first, but as we let God grow our faith, it becomes easier and easier to lean on Him and trust Him.

Philippians 4:6 (NKJV) 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-27-14

Numbers 13:30 (NKJV) 30 Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.”

As the Israelites approached the land of promise, Moses sent 12 men to spy out the land. They were to report back to him about the lay of the land and the agriculture.

As the men entered the land and beheld it, they saw great crops and a land of beauty, teeming with everything God had promised them.

However, they also saw men of great stature… giants. And suddenly 10 of the 12 men lost their faith.

Despite seeing all of the good things, and they fact that they brought back huge clusters of grapes that required two men to carry them, those 10 men brought back a negative report and told Moses and the people of Israel that entering the land and conquering the Canaanites was impossible.

Only Joshua and Caleb believed God. And in the end, Joshua and Caleb were the only men of that generation to be able to enter into the promised land.

So, today, as we face our giants, and we stand on the border, looking out at the things that God has promised us, who’s report will we believe? Will we see the large fruits and the goodness that God spoke about?

Or will we focus only on the giants that inhabit the land, letting them intimidate us and deter us from claiming what God promised us?

It’s up to us. Only we can decide.

If God has truly promised us something, and we’re sure that it’s not just something that we want, then we need to stop doubting and start believing what God has told us, end enter into that promise.

If God be for us, who can be against us?

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-17-14

Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV) 3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

About 15 years ago, before we were pastors, we were attending a church service one Sunday. We were raising two daughters and we were going through a tough financial trial in our life. We didn’t share with anyone about what we were going through. Only God knew.

That day, after church was over, the Pastor walked up to us and handed us an envelope and said that someone wanted us to have it. He didn’t say who it was from. We weren’t sure what to expect or what it  was all about.

We got out to our vehicle and opened the envelope and to our surprise there were 3 one hundred dollar bills, 3 ten dollar bills and 3 one dollar bills, totaling $333.00.

We were so grateful, because it came at the perfect time and only God knew what we needed.

As I was reading Jeremiah 33:3 today, God reminded me of what He did for us that day in church so many years ago, and how at that time when we cried out to Him, He did a great thing for us.

It opened our eyes to see that as we pray and trust God, oh how faithful He is to take care of His children!

Cry out to Him today and thank Him, for He will do GREAT and MIGHTY things which we do not know. Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-22-14

Psalm 91:1 (NKJV) 91 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

The Almighty has us. He will care for us and not let anything or anyone that tries to take us out, succeed!

You may say today, “but I’m tired, I feel beaten down and my hope is wearing thin. I’ve lost my job, I’ve lost my loved one, I’ve lost my home”. And some may even say,  “I’ve lost everything”.

I say to you today,  if you dwell in the secret place of the Most High, His hand is with you, on you and you are not forgotten.

The change in your life will come according to what He knows will work for you. The steps He takes will be carefully thought out and planned that it may work together for you good and be lasting!

I have never seen or met anyone in my life that is more caring, loving, kindhearted or compassionate as what I have seen demonstrated from my Heavenly Father, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. This amazing three-strand cord and the things they will do for us is beyond our comprehension. They go to work on our behalf.

There is absolutely no wondering or worrying when our lives dwell in the secret place of the most High.

Have a wonderful day today and know that you are in GOOD hands, that you are loved dearly and that you will get through this!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-6-14

Job 1:1 (NKJV) 1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil.

Today, we’d like to tell you a story. This is a story about a man who lost everything he had. He was a very wealthy man. The loss that he incurred was no fault of his own.

He was a righteous man who loved God and honored Him in everything he did. Even while he was worshiping God and honoring Him, severe calamity stuck and in a matter of a few hours, he lost all of his earthly possessions and every, single one of his children. The only family member who remained was his wife.

Job went from what most people would consider to be the ideal life, to complete devastation, in less than 24 hours, without doing a single thing wrong, and with no warning whatsoever.

Maybe you’re reading this today and you can relate to this. Maybe you’ve been going through a severe trial. Maybe you’re in the midst of a famine right now. The well has run dry and you don’t know where to turn or how you’re going to survive.

Maybe you’ve lost someone who was very close or dear to you and you don’t know why it happened or how you’re going to make it through without them.

Take heart. We’re here to tell you that what you’re going through is only for a season. Seasons come and seasons go. None of them last forever. Yes, sometimes they can seem like they last forever, but they truly don’t.

Job endured extreme hardship and yet he chose to bless God and worship Him in the midst of it all, even while covered in excruciatingly-painful sores. He had people telling him to just give up, curse God and die. And yet he chose to ignore them and worship God anyway.

What will we do in the midst of our hardships and trials? What will we do while we’re mourning the loss of a loved one? We have to choose. Yes, we are human and we are allowed to mourn. It’s part of how God made us.

But when the time comes to pick ourselves up and get moving, we better do just that! It may take us some time to get back on our feet, but God will give us strength and help us, if we let Him.

What’s awesome, though, is how the story of Job turned out, after all of the intense persecution and incredible loss.

Job 42:10 (NKJV) 10 And the Lord restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.

So don’t give up! Hold onto God and let Him be your source. Let Him be your light during this dark time.

This season of trials and turmoil won’t last forever. Let Him lead you out, and bless Him even in the midst of it all.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-6-14

Luke 12:24-25 (NKJV) 24 Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds? 25 And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

Are you worried about anything?

Are you facing a big decision or some kind of major change in your life, and you’re feeling uncertain about how it might turn out?

I think we can safely say that most of us are in this boat, to one degree or another. And some of us may be at a very major crossroads in our lives, not knowing which way to turn. And the thought of making the wrong choice gives us a sinking feeling.

Well, at the risk of sounding cliché, stop worrying about it.

We know that might not be very comforting, but trust us when we tell you that worrying about it will only make things worse for you.

Now, this doesn’t mean that we should be nonchalant about everything, not caring whether we do the right thing or not. But this is where our faith comes in and we learn to pull on God and lean on Him, listening ever so intently for the voice of the Holy Spirit… that “still small voice”.

As we wrestle with these kinds of decisions, it is God’s leading that will give us peace in the midst of our storm and show us which way to go when it seems oh so dark ahead of us.

We can say this with absolute confidence, because God has led us through some very trying times these past two years, and on to victory. It wasn’t always easy to hear Him, but we did our best to be diligent and heed His voice.

And in the end, we truly saw that worrying never helped us one little bit.

Trust Him.
