Bible Verse of The Day – 12-1-22

Acts 2:39 (NKJV) 39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

The promise of the Holy Spirit is a gift for every believer in every generation, in every era, no matter where they are.

All who are afar off includes all believers; as many as give their life to Jesus Christ. All been given the opportunity to receive this promise.

Who wouldn’t want to be led by the Spirit of God every day, making choices that guide us and help us to live a life full of pleasing God our Father?

When the Holy Spirit leads us and empowers us to do the things each day that need to be done, it will bring God-centered and God-empowered changes into the hardest places/situations.

We are not saying that everything will go perfectly and we will live a life with no problems.

But, in the problems we may face throughout this life, we will have the upper hand; His hand going before and behind us.

He will give us direction and the strength to keep going, allowing us to come out the other end with victory!

This life is for every believer. Don’t leave our promised Gift, our Helper, in the dark.

Receive His teachings and let Him have a place in our lives today.

John 14:26 (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-18-22

John 16:7 (NKJV) 7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

It’s important that we take notice of something important in this verse.

It was to our advantage that Christ had to leave us.

People of God, the very fact that Jesus Christ states this in this verse opens my eyes to see that we must take it to heart and embrace our Helper. It’s critically important to give Him a BIG part in our walk with God!

The Helper is the 3rd person of the Trinity. He is called the Holy Spirit.

His job is to convict the world.

That’s right! He brings conviction of sin, righteousness and judgment.

Oh, we wonder why we there is so much trouble in the world right now.

Is this world missing out on the Holy Spirit’s conviction?

How about the bride of Christ? Have we grieved His presence by letting the world desensitize sin?

Children of God, it is never too late to get back on track; to take a stand and turn this ship around.

John 16:8 (NKJV) 8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment

What does He convict us of? Sin! And what kind of sin? Unbelief; not believing in Jesus Christ.

John 16:9 (NKJV) 9 of sin, because they do not believe in Me

With conviction, judgement and righteousness will come.

Submitting to the Holy Spirit will bring spiritual growth, causing us to see the importance of being fully aligned with God.

The way we do that is by being Spirit led/Spirit filled. In this way we will see the heart of God.

The Holy Spirit gives us the ability to pray in His power. He teaches us and helps us to live this life God has called us to live by avoiding strong temptations.

He’s our Advocate and Guide. He will give us true spiritual understanding.

He builds us up by enabling us to live out a God-filled life.

In all His doing, all that He came for is to lift up Jesus Christ. And He helps us to do the same in our daily walk.

Pray for the conviction of the Holy Spirit in our own lives and in this world. Open up to Him, and embrace His understanding and guidance. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-26-22

John 14:26 (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

As the time for Jesus to be crucified drew closer, He tried to help His disciples understand why these things must happen.

First, and what most people would view as most important, was Christ’s atoning death on the cross. His shed blood opened the door for our sins to be forgiven, and for us to have a one-on-One relationship with the Creator of heaven and earth.

Without the death of Jesus, this would be impossible.

This is indeed the most critical aspect of what he did when we look at it from an eternal perspective.

Additionally, Jesus would be resurrected. And then, after spending time with the Disciples, He would leave.

Now, this is where we see the part that’s extremely important to believers who are still alive here on earth; the sending of the Holy Spirit to be our Helper (literally, our Comforter).

The Holy Spirit is critical to our walk with God.

He gives us discernment. He guides us. He shows us things that we would otherwise never know by our natural understanding.

Jesus assured His disciples that it was imperative for Him to leave them.

Why?

Because if He didn’t go, the Holy Spirit would not be able to come.

John 16:7 (NKJV) 7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

The presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives helps us to live beyond what our own natural abilities would allow us to do.

This applies to some things in the natural. But it is much more important from a supernatural (spiritual) point of view, since the enemies and the battles that we face are spiritual at their core.

We need to be sure we are allowing the Holy Spirit to work and move in our lives. Trying to walk this earth as a follower of Christ without His leading and guiding is futile, to put it mildly.

We desperately need Him every minute of every day. It’s just a fact of life.

Surrender to the Holy Spirit today. Let Him work in you, help you, lead you, guide you, comfort you and strengthen you.

Once we fully understand this, our lives will be forever changed.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-14-22

Acts 11:16 (NKJV) 16 Then I remembered the word of the Lord, how He said, ‘John indeed baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’

After we repent, accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, and are baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of our sins, we will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

For this is the promise to us, and to all that the Lord our God will call.

Acts 2:38 (NKJV) 38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirt is our gift. He bears witness to the reality of the exaltation of Jesus and is given to those who believe, have faith and obey Him.

The most important thing we can learn is to surrender to Him.

There will be times when our flesh does not understand fully what the Holy Spirit may be impressing on us to do. It’s in those moments that we need to trust Him and not try to follow our intellect.

Why? Because our intellect doesn’t understand the things of the Spirit.

The Holy Spirit will always line up with God’s word. He will never have us do something that goes against the Word of God.

Walking in the gift of the Holy Spirit will enable us to pray in tongues, as the Spirit gives utterance and as we open our mouth by faith and let it come out.

Acts 2:4 (NKJV) 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Step out in faith. Obey the Holy Spirit. And as we do this, He will become more active in our lives.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-8-22

Luke 4:1 (NKJV) 1 Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness…

Jesus was led into the wilderness. There He fasted for 40 days and 40 nights. In Luke 4:2, it says, afterwards He was hungry.

The devil came to Him right after and said, “if You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread”.

What a temptation! After not eating for 40 days, bread would taste mighty good, wouldn’t it?

But Jesus was onto him, through the help of the Holy Spirit. And His reply was that of the Son of God, a Man filled with the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Matthew 4:4 (NKJV) 4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.

The devil came to Him two other times and tempted Him while in the wilderness. And each time Jesus rebuked his offer, and replying with the Word of God.

Praise You, Lord, for Your focus and strength to stay on track.

If Jesus, the Son of the Mighty God, needed the Holy Spirit to fill Him and work through Him, we most definitely need Him moving and helping us daily.

We all need to stop trying to be the hero on this journey of life as a believer. We don’t help God. He helps us.

We aren’t doing anything for Him in and of ourselves. His word says that without His help, we can do nothing.

John 15:5 (NKJV) 5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

This may be a hard thing for some people to swallow. But so many have it backwards; we need God in order to win battles, to move mountains and to lead people to Christ. He sent us a Helper because He knew we would need Him.

The devil will tempt us daily, hourly, minute by minute. We must be strong enough to resist Him and do just that.

James 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Be filled with our Helper, the Holy Spirit, just as Jesus was filled.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-12-22

John 7:39 (NKJV) 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

The Holy Spirit, Whom Jesus had promised, was for every believer in every generation.

We should expect the same help and experiences from Him as what occurred during the birth of the early church.

God is not going to give to those in the that day and not give to us, in this day and hour that we live in.

He gave to us all a Helper. We must have this Helper if we want to live the life He has for us and walk it out accordingly.

Acts 2:33 (NKJV) 33 Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.

If we think we can live as a Christian, and be a good example without our Helper, we are sadly mistaken. We will struggle immensely and be in a constant battle with our own fleshly desires. And we will fail many times.

It is through the gift of the Holy Spirit that we will have the power to defeat sin and walk in obedience.

It is through Him we can be a witness and a light to others, knowing what to say and when to say it.

It is only through Him that we can do things that we would otherwise never have been able to do in and of our own strength.

It is through the Holy Spirit that we have the strength to resist the devil. It is His power in us.

Acts 1:8 (NKJV) 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

We need to receive Him and let Him be our Helper. Listen to His promptings. Let Him guide us and move freely within us.

With the help of the Holy Spirit working in us we will bring forth the fruit of good character.

Jesus Christ was a primary example of that. His life was conceived by the Holy Spirit.

Welcome Him into our lives. He will help us to know what to pray for.

If we want to change and be all that God wants us to be, let our Helper and Promise from above have His way in us.  Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-5-22

John 8:29 (NKJV) 29 And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.”

Why did the Father not leave Jesus alone?

Because He always did what pleased His Father. He had focus, determination and purpose. And He didn’t let anything get in His way.

His Father sent Him to do a certain thing, and His heart was going all the way! He loved His Father and put Him before His own will.

Luke 22:42 (NKJV) 42 saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.”

What is God asking us to do today?

Do we have purpose in fulfilling it? Will we go all the way, or will we give up and pull away from Him when things get heated or harder than we had planned?

When it gets a bit uncomfortable, will we push through or pull back?

Only we can decide this.

We are going to have to get serious. At times we are going to have to push through with everything in us. And even that won’t seem like enough at times.

But remember, when we feel like we can’t go any further, the Holy Spirit will give us what it takes to go the rest of the way. We just have to acknowledge our Helper and He will come to our rescue.

John 14:16 (NKJV) 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever

It’s important that we understand that He will give us another Helper and He (the Holy Spirit) will stay with us forever.

We may not be able to do this on our own, but we can do it with our Helper. Don’t give up.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-12-21

Matthew 16:13 (NKJV) 13 When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?

The disciples spoke up and said, “some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets”.

Jesus then said, “who do you say that I am?”.

Simon Peter spoke right up and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God”.

Matthew 16:15 (NKJV) 15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?

You have here two different answers.

You have the first answer, from the intellectual mind, that could only relate to what it sees on its own; John the Baptist, Elijah, Jeremiah or a prophet.

Then, you have the second answer that only God can reveal through the Holy Spirit; The Christ, the Son of the living God.

Jesus told Peter, “blessed are you, for flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven”.

He also told Peter that on that rock He will build His church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.

What rock will He build His church on? The truth that was revealed to Peter by the Spirit of God.

When Peter gave his answer, it showed that he was tuned into hearing the Holy Spirit.

This marked a turning point, and Jesus began to teach them about the things He must suffer, including His death on the cross and then His resurrection.

Matthew 16:21 (NKJV) 21 From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.

Jesus was now able to move forward and take the next steps toward His purpose here on earth.

As we stay open and connected with the Holy Spirit, He will give us wisdom, knowledge and understanding deep within ourselves; something the mind can never get on its own.

We teach frequently about drawing close to God. This is the very reason for that; so we can have His understanding on all things.

Don’t be afraid of the Holy Spirit. He is our Helper.

John 14:26 (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-29-21

John 15:1-2  (NKJV) 1 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.

It’s important for us to know that we have Someone working in our lives, helping us grow as believers. Someone Who teaches us how to live in a way that’s pleasing to God.

We have Someone who will guide us in the way we should go, and that guidance is done with excellence.

He knows what is good for us. And we can rest assured, knowing that if we follow Him, it is the best move we can ever make.

We have Someone who will keep us safe, helping us to avoid making irresponsible moves if we take His advice and listen to His convictions.

If we follow through and don’t give into peer pressure, we will make the right choice at any given moment.

He will help us remove and avoid the ugly, bad things that will hurt us if we continue in them.

We have Someone who leads us down a path that helps bear unbelievable amounts of wonderful fruit if we take heed and let Him shape and prune us.

He is faithful to the end if we stay connected to the Vine, Jesus Christ, and the Father, the Vinedresser, with the leading of the Holy Spirit, our Helper! Amen.

Bible Verse of the Day – 5-27-21

John 14:26 (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Oh, how we need our Helper. He is everything we need at every moment we face.

One day I (Pastor Ellie) was struggling with something that was very hard to swallow. I truly didn’t know how to handle it.

I cried out to God, and said, “Father, I don’t know what to do with this. I don’t know how to handle it. It’s bigger than me. It’s more than my mind knows what to do with. I’m afraid.”

It was at that moment; I felt warmth, like that of a blanket, being gently placed in the empty hole that I had (of not knowing what to do).

And with that blanket came everything I needed to bring me such comfort, strength and the ability to get up and move.

The fear was gone. The emptiness was filled. The wisdom came and got me on my feet and moved me forward.

Every bit of what I needed came in that form of a blanket and comforted me in every aspect.

I can’t explain it. I just knew I was OK after that! It was that easy.

You see, most times it is simply fear that grips us.

We become afraid to know what steps to take, afraid to do the wrong thing, afraid to make a mistake, afraid to reach out, afraid to be alone. We may even be afraid to not make a move at all.

Fear grips our hearts at times and can paralyze us, keeping us standing still.

In some cases fear will cause us to go backwards because we don’t know what to do with what we face.

But know that our Helper is waiting to hear from us and bring such a great comfort in times of despair.

In those times when we feel lost or hard-pressed, we have Him. That is what He is here for!

2 Corinthians 4:8 (NKJV) 8 We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair…

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-1-21

John 14:26 (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Jesus was talking to the disciples here.

He didn’t expect them to be able to go into the world and preach the gospel by their own strength or understanding.

He knew they needed a Helper to accomplish what was before them.

Just as the disciples in the days of Jesus needed the Holy Spirit, so do we in our daily lives.

If we don’t let Him speak to our hearts when we need Him, that is our choice. But we need to understand that He is willing. I believe we need to call on Him for help at times. I believe the ears to our heart need to be always open to Him. And I believe that if we listen and follow His help we will accomplish, we will conquer and we will win the battles we face in the flesh every day!

We can’t wait until Sunday or Wednesday nights to get His words. We need Him every hour of every day, alive and able to freely speak to our hearts.

In order for us to shine God’s light and show His love in this world, we need to win the battles on the inside of us so that we can walk in the greatest gift of all; Love.

We need to be kind, and encouraging, but also firm when needed.

We can’t do this without our Helper. There is so much that affects us. We are flesh. We are emotional. We hurt at times, and we are weak.

2 Corinthians 12:10 (NKJV) 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

It is the Holy Spirit, our Helper, that makes us strong enough to do the things God asks of us.
