Bible Verse of The Day – Recognizing The Subtle Tactics of The Enemy – 2-25-18

Greetings!

Did you know that the enemy doesn’t always tempt us with things that are blatantly obvious? He’s sneaky and sly, and he will use whatever tactics he can to try to get us to pull away from God.

We just published our latest video on this topic.

Please click here to watch the video now.

Using subtle tactics can cause us to begin to pull away from God, a tiny bit at a time. In fact, it may happen so slowly and subtly that we don’t even recognize that it’s happening until there is a great distance between us and God.

Please click here to watch the video now.

So, it’s important that we learn to recognize these subtle tactics, so we don’t fall prey to them.

Please click here to watch the video now.

We do hope you’ll take the time to watch this and learn from it.

Sincerely in Christ,

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-22-18

Hebrews 4:15 (NKJV) 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

Many times we think that we are on our own when it comes to being tempted or tested, but that is simply not true.

Our High Priest, Jesus Christ, was tempted in every way and He can sympathize with us. But He also overcame the temptation He was faced with and He can help us overcome ours.

How?

We must reach out to Him and ask Him for help. We must follow the steps that He gives us to take.

A lot of times He will show us only one step at a time. Once we take the first step, the rest will follow. We cannot skip or miss steps when it comes to overcoming our weaknesses or temptation.

Every step must be followed through.

If you are being tempted and you can’t seem to beat it, this is not uncommon. Trying to beat something on our own that tempts us will cause us to fail. We need Jesus and the help He has for us.

He sent the Holy Spirit for us and we need to let Him do His job.

He will give us the strength we need to say no to temptation. He will give us the wisdom and the courage to get out and away from certain situations in advance, so we don’t get caught up in it again.

So remember, overcoming temptation and weakness takes us going to Jesus and asking for His help, and then following His steps, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit working in us.

John 14:16 (NKJV) 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-2-18

Psalm 109:26 (NKJV) 26 Help me, O Lord my God! Oh, save me according to Your mercy…

Temptation comes in many different ways and sometimes dealing with it can be very difficult.

Let us be very real with you today. All of us struggle with different types of temptation. Being a believer doesn’t mean that we are exempt from it.

Some may seem like they are little, minuscule or tiny compared to other temptations. It doesn’t matter. We are still tempted and we need to know that if we can’t beat it, it will beat us.

How do we beat it?

We have to acknowledge that we are being tempted and admit that we have trouble with whatever it is that is tempting us.

The next step is to know that if something keeps tempting us, and we can’t overcome it, then we need to recognize that a part of us likes whatever it is, even though we know it’s wrong or not good for us. We have to fix that part of us.

How?

We have to starve or deprive ourselves of it. Whatever it may be, we cannot have anything to do with it or be around those people, places or things that are associated with it, at least until we are strong enough to stand against it. We have to make a big bold statement and stick to it!

When we do decide “No More”, we’d better be ready for the fight of our life, because things that we are addicted to don’t just go away. We opened a door to them and gave it a home in us. For that reason, we can’t expect it to simply go away now.

We need to throw out what we allowed in and then lock up that door tight.

When it comes to cleaning out or getting rid of addictions there is a spiritual deliverance that needs to take place in order for us to get completely free.

It doesn’t mean we have to thrash around on the floor and foam at the mouth. That’s not what we are saying, although sometimes that may happen. Deliverance is personal and different for each person. It’s between us and God.

When we are serious about getting free from addictions, God is faithful to deliver us.

Dear God in Heaven,

Today I am struggling with the temptation of ………….. Please help me to get free from this. I don’t want it anymore. I command it to go, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ! I know that the name and the blood of Jesus are more powerful than anything that tempts me.

I ask You to help me be bold and say NO when I am tempted. Please give me the wisdom to clean up the atmosphere around me, that I may remain free from this for the rest of my days.

Thank you, Lord. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-28-16

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV) 13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

Today we’re going to clear up a huge misconception that’s been propagated in the body of Christ for a very long time. We don’t know how or when this half-truth began getting spread around, but it’s time for it to be laid to rest right now.

Most of us have heard it said that “God will never give us more than we can handle”. This is often quoted when someone is going through a trial or tough time. The idea is that we will never go through anything that we can’t bear or anything strong enough to break us.

First, let’s talk about the misconception and the real meaning of this verse. We have been told that this verse means that God will never put us through a test, trial or tough time that we can’t hold up under the weight of.

But if we look at this verse in its proper context, we will see that it never says that. Not at all. It says that God will never allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear. Nowhere does it mention being under the weight of a trial or a tough time. It also says that when temptation comes, God will provide a way out.

Second, if we never go through anything that’s more than we can bear or handle, we have no need for God. Not His strength, His wisdom or His peace. So if our lives were all nice and comfortable, with no tough times, most of us would simply cruise right through them and push God aside because we wouldn’t see any need for Him in the day to day stuff.

So as we’re being tossed on the waves of the rough waters of life, and we feel like we can’t handle any more, it’s time for us to stop trying to handle it all and start casting our cares upon Him. It takes humility to admit that we need help, but once we get past being humbled, then He can intervene on our behalf.

1 Peter 5:6-7 (NKJV) 6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

So, remember that He offers us help during those tough times that we face and He’s always there for us. We just need to reach out and accept that help.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-25-16

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV) 13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

Temptation is something we all deal with. None of us is exempt. We all face temptation and we all make a choice whether to give in to it or not.

The funny thing about temptation is that some people handle it better than others. Some people just seem to give in to it every time they’re faced with it. Others seem to have a really good handle on overcoming it and walking away from it.

Why is that? What’s the difference between the two types of people?

First, we need to understand that sin is a choice. Giving in to temptation is a choice. No, we don’t usually set out with the idea of intentionally sinning. But when push comes to shove, sin is still a choice that we make.

But the key to overcoming temptation is our walk with God. As we grow closer to Him, we will be more likely to make choices that please Him.

And as we do this, as we devour His word and digest it and put it into action, our lives will reflect Him and His word. And our discernment and our strength to overcome sin will grow and multiply!

Then, and only then, will we be able to consistently turn and walk away from the things that tempt us. Because then we will have the strength, the wisdom and the understanding to overcome those things that tempt us.

And as Jesus said to the woman caught in adultery, “Go and sin no more”.

John 8:11 (NKJV) 11 …And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-19-16

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV) 13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

Temptations come. But there is always a way to escape them.

The key is that we have to want to escape it. We have to want to do the right thing.

There are some things we just simply love doing and this makes it very hard to turn away when we are tempted.

The enemy sees our weaknesses. He will try to torment us with them. When this is going on, there is a constant battle going on inside of us and it can wear on us. That is his plan, to get us so tired that we give up fighting and give in.

Don’t let this battle continue on. Go to your Pastor or leader, prayer partner or someone you can trust, and let them know what is going on.

There is nothing wrong with admitting that we are weak in an area. What is wrong, and can hurt us badly, is if we try to handle it on our own, we deny we have a weakness, or we try to hide it.

Cry out to God. His Spirit will go to battle for us and help us get past it.

Romans 8:26 (NKJV) 26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-23-15

Ephesians 6:11 (NKJV) 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

wile – devious or cunning stratagems (strategies) employed in manipulating or persuading someone to do what one wants.

The way we stand against the wiles of the devil is by saying NO to him!  We stay close to God by praying, reading His word, listening and following His direction for our life.

The enemy will come and try to tempt us to do wrong. Don’t buy into his devious or cunning stratagems.

If we are already caught up in his temptation and we know that what we are doing is wrong, get out of it.

Don’t wait. Repent and get free. The longer we stay in it, his grip gets harder and stronger.

You may have noticed that when we are doing wrong, our attitude changes. We start to become insensitive to things that should bother us. We start to feel like we have all the answers and no one can tell us anything.

That’s because our heart is getting harder, we’re getting colder and the devil’s grip is getting stronger.

Put on the whole armor of God and STAND against him, not with him!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-18-15

Matthew 26:41(NKJV) 41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Our flesh is weak!

That is why we fall into temptation at times. We can say we will never do it again, but we can’t make any promises. We can try our hardest, but if we don’t do what it takes to fix the problem it will rise again and again.

How does one take care of the problem? It’s called crucifying the flesh. This allows the spirit to lead.

Galatians 5:24(NKJV) 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

What does crucify mean? To put to death: to destroy the power of.

So, those things that we love to do that are not good for us? We need to allow Christ to destroy or take away our passion and desire for them.

We do this by watching and being alert to the things that try to pull on us. Then we ask God for help, to turn from them.

Watch, pray and WIN!

God has good things for us as we avoid the temptation of the flesh.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-23-15

Hebrews 4:15 (NKJV) 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

Temptation comes to all of us. It comes in many different forms, shapes and sizes.

We all struggle with different temptations and we all have different strengths and weaknesses.

But one thing is for sure. Not a single one of us is tempted by anything new. Our very own Savior, Jesus Christ, was tempted in every way that we are tempted. He could have had power, sex, pride and so much more.

But by the power of the Holy Spirit, He resisted all of them and remained without sin.

Sometimes we tend to “have ourselves a little pity party” and think that nobody has ever been through the things that we are going through and that nobody has ever had to wrestle with the things that we are coming against.

But the fact of the matter is that there is nothing new when it comes to temptation!

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV) 13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

Men and women today face the very same temptations that men and women faced 100 years ago, 200 years ago or even 2,000 years ago!

And the choice has always been the same. Give in to it and fall into sin, or turn and walk away from it.

As believers, we have been given the Spirit of God to help us discern and make right choices. It’s still up to us to do the right thing.

So we always need to seek the way of escape when temptation comes. God will always provide a way out. We just need to see it and utilize it!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-30-15

Proverbs 1:10 (NKJV) 10 My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent.

Temptation comes to us in many ways.

Most times we find ourselves being enticed by people we know. They want us to join them in their follies, inviting us to partake of things and practices that we know aren’t pleasing to God.

Although it may sometimes seem difficult, it really just comes down to us saying yes or saying no. Very simple indeed.

Some things can seem so good on the surface and we may be tempted to follow along when people are doing things that we know aren’t right. But our conscience and the Holy Spirit will always be there, nudging us in the right direction.

It’s up to us to choose the right thing.

The best thing in the world for us to do is to say no and immediately turn away. The longer we linger and ponder on it, the more likely we are to be persuaded and give in, only to regret it later on.

We need to put God first in everything. When we do this, following this simple proverb will become much easier for us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-18-15

Matthew 26:41 (NKJV) 41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Watching and Praying is the key to having VICTORY over temptation. Our flesh is weak at times and it will give in to temptation.

It doesn’t matter who we are, whether we are a Christian, a Pastor, a Father, Mother, spouse etc., we are all tempted at one time or another.

How many times have we heard ourselves say  “I’ll never do that again” and then find ourselves falling right back into it at a later point in time? That’s because temptation overtook us and we entered in with our own flesh. We can’t blame it on anyone else but ourselves.

This is why we need to watch and pray. Be alert, because the devil knows what tempts us and he tries to use it against us whenever he can. We need to be ready! Ready means to be prayed up, close to God and watching.

James 5:15 (NKJV) 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

Watch, pray and have faith; Don’t pray with fear or doubt that God will help us get past it. Pray with a knowing, that God Himself will heal us and free us from the sickness, the addiction, or the desire.

If any of us is struggling with temptation today, in any particular area, pray to God with faith and ask Him to give us the wisdom and strength to turn from it and to never enter into it again. And that He will help our flesh be ready for when temptation comes, we will say NO! Amen.
