Category: Spiritual Warfare

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-13-24

Job 1:6 (NKJV) 6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them.

This verse should be of interest to every child of God.

Why?

Because it gives us a glimpse of some of the things that go on in the spiritual realm, behind the scenes.

This is another piece of proof that what we see playing out on the earth is merely a piece of a battle that is being waged and fought beyond what our eyes can see.

Despite not showing an actual battle scene playing out, this verse shows some of the events that take place in the heavens.

It is proof of spiritual warfare and strategies being played out.

There is a good reason why the Bible tells us that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, hosts of wickedness in heavenly places, etc.

Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV) 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

For everything we see happening in the natural world, there are many other things that we cannot see happening. They are being played out in a world that is imperceivable to our natural eyes.

Evidence of spiritual warfare is all around us. But we must rely on the Holy Spirit to reveal it to us. Our flesh and bones cannot see it nor discern it.

It can be easy for our eyes to see evil actions carried out by people in the natural world. For us to see it “in the spirit”, however, we need to allow God to teach us how to discern what is behind the things we see.

As we learn this, we will discover that there is always more than meets the eye.

Take the time to study God’s word.

Be careful to watch and listen for God to show us the truth about what we see around us.

This is not spooky or weird. It is God’s word and prophecies from centuries ago being played out right before our eyes.

As we learn to allow God to show us the big picture, prepare to be blown away by what we see.

And rest in knowing none of it surprises God. He is still on His throne.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-28-23

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (NKJV) 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

God has given us every weapon we need to win the battles we face.

We must understand those weapons. And, just as important, we must understand our enemy!

We see the people who carry out the orders of the demons who have been given authority over specific regions (principalities). We don’t, however, see the spirits behind the actions of those people.

We get caught up in the people we can see.

We need, instead, to be focused on the spirits (demons) behind their actions.

This is where the battle really lies. This is where the war is won or lost.

It’s critical that we allow the Holy Spirit to show us the unseen.

This doesn’t mean that we will visibly see the spirits in action.

It simply means that we will see what’s behind the actions of the people who are carrying out the evil strategies of the principalities who have been given authority over those regions.

But when we allow the Holy Spirit to give us eyes to see and ears to hear, our perspective will change drastically.

We will no longer be like shadow boxers fighting the air. Instead, we will better understand what our target is, and we will be able to pray very specific prayers to help us defeat them.

So, in all our battles, we need to be sure to understand this one thing; we do not fight against flesh and blood.

Once we fully understand that, everything about our prayers and our perception will change.

Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV) 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-29-22

Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV) 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

I recently saw the title of what I believe was a podcast that stated that we are engaged in a theological war right now.

While that might sound good at first glance, it is not really accurate.

What we are engaged in, on a global scale, is a spiritual war.

There is a big difference.

Theology is the study of God and religious belief.

Theology is intellectual. It deals with human understanding.

What we are seeing happen around the globe is not theological. It is a spiritual war. A war of good vs. evil; God vs. the devil.

If we recognize it as anything less than a spiritual war, we will not know how to fight it properly. And we will lose badly.

Theology teaches us about God and the various aspects of religion. It does not require any spiritual discernment. It requires only human understanding; understanding of the mind.

Spiritual war, though, requires discernment that is given by the Holy Spirit. Spiritual war requires a different kind of understanding.

This understanding doesn’t come from ordinary books, but from the word of God.

We learn how to discern as we read and study the word of God. Having the word of God embedded in us is even better, giving the Holy Spirit “a well to draw from” when He speaks to us.

Don’t skimp on spending time in God’s word. God wants all of us to grow and mature. And the only way we can do that is to feed daily on His word.

Please tap to watch the video now.Greetings in the name of Jesus!

We all face battles. Each of those battles is unique to us and our own situation.

But there is a very common thread that we all share; it’s the way we face those battles.

In today’s video, “Our Two Most Powerful Weapons for Our Fiercest Battles”, we teach on the two things that we all tend to do when battles and hard times hit us.

This is a video that we hope everyone will watch because it teaches on some things that we all need to learn and understand in order to have victory in our battles.

Please click here to watch the video now.

If you would share this video with others, we would greatly appreciate it.

We love you all.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-6-22

Ephesians 6:13 (NKJV) 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

One of our most recent teaching series focused on spiritual warfare, covering many aspects of what goes on behind the scenes, away from the natural eye.

We taught about principalities, powers, spiritual hosts of wickedness, etc.

What we didn’t teach on in that series was how to defend ourselves against those same evil spirits, and the attacks that they bring against us each and every day.

So, today we will touch on the foundational basics of our defense against them. Then, in the very near future, we will do another series that will continue where today’s teaching leaves off.

So, consider this to be a primer on self-defense against spiritual enemies.

In the verse above, we are told that we are to take up the whole armor of God.

Why is that?

It is so we may be able to withstand in the evil day, warding off these attacks.

And, what is the evil day?

It is, literally, every day that we face here on earth. The world is full of evil, and has been since the fall of man. The enemy is always in attack mode. It’s what he does.

Each day we face new attacks. And it is these attacks that we need to be able to defend ourselves against.

As we take up and wear the armor of God, look at what verse 13, above, says we are to do; and having done all, to stand.

This is pretty significant for us to understand.

When we have done all that we know, what do we do?

We stand.

We don’t quit. We don’t back down. We don’t shrink back. We don’t fall or falter and we don’t waver. We stand at all costs.

That is, after all, just what Jesus did for us. He stood at all costs, to fulfill His mission here on earth; to set us free from the grips of sin and death.

We will teach more on this very soon. In the meantime, hold fast and press in to Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-25-22

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (NKJV) 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ…

Referring to Christians as warriors is a common theme in the New Testament. And rightly so. As believers we are obligated to wage war on the enemies of God.

And as we have stated many times in past devotionals and videos, our enemies are not fleshly (people). They are spiritual (evil spirits, demons, etc.).

As such, our weapons of war are not carnal (of the flesh). They are also spiritual.

These weapons are mighty for pulling down strongholds.

What is a stronghold?

It is a fortress, bunker, tower garrison or other type of fortified place that is designed to be impenetrable or very hard to break into.

Paul used this word because the people of Corinth were familiar with it. Corinth had a fortress in which people of the city could take refuge in times of great danger.

You see, the (spiritual) weapons that God has supplied us with are mighty. So mighty, in fact, that they can be used to pull down those strongholds that the enemy may choose to hide in.

And powerful enough to cast down every argument and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.

So, what is this weapon that is so powerful; powerful enough to crush the enemy?

It is the truth of God’s word.

No other weapon is so strong as to have the power to crush the enemies of God.

Truth will annihilate lies every time the two are brought face to face.

Lies cannot negate truth. No matter what a liar says, it does not change truth. It only tries to mask it.

But the truth is so powerful, it will cause evil (lies) to run and hide in an attempt to stay out of the light that truth shines.

This is our battle; to assault error (lies, mistruth, falsehoods, etc.) with truth.

And it is this truth that renders the enemy, his minions and his strongholds powerless and ineffective.

Be mighty warriors in this eternal battle between truth and lies!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-5-22

Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV) 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Part 3

As we left off yesterday, we had begun discussing principalities, the evil spirits in charge of large areas or regions.

Think of principalities as rulers over their assigned domain.

The presence and the influence of these demons is usually very visible and obvious in the fact that a specific sin, or type of sin, will tend to dominate that area.

Some areas will be rampant with sexually-related sins; adultery, homosexuality, prostitution, pornography, etc.

These sins are obviously not isolated to just these areas. They are present everywhere, but they will tend to be much more pronounced in specific areas.

And one single type of sin won’t be the only sin in an area. But, again, there will usually be one that’s predominant.

Other areas might be prone to sins of violence; murder, gang activity, stabbings, shootings, etc.

And the list can go on at length. But these should help make it a bit clearer when it comes to principalities and how they rule over areas.

If you think of specific cities or areas, you will likely be able to name a few that stand out for specific types of sins/crimes.

As we move past principalities, Paul mentions “powers”.

Powers refers to various spiritual/demonic beings that have authority in the spiritual world. They are not as strong as principalities, but have more power than the lower-level demonic spirits.

Next, we see rulers mentioned. This refers specifically to worldly rulers; people in positions of power, influence and authority here on the earth who operate as part of the kingdom of darkness.

As we mentioned early on in this series, these types of people have largely sold their souls to evil. They are owned by the devil himself. Every action they take has evil motives and unholy intent.

And finally, we see “spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places”.

This is referring to evil spirits. This ranges from various types of demons and fallen angels, to Lucifer himself.

“In the heavenly places” simply refers to the spiritual realm, the invisible world where so much happens that is unseen by the human eye. And yet, everything that happens there spills over into the natural world, where we see the manifestation and the consequences of it.

This series only skims the surface of this topic, but hopefully it will bring light and understanding to a subject that’s sometimes very hard to understand.

We will continue to teach on this again in the future as God leads us to do so, bringing more understanding and helping us all grow as believers and warriors for the Kingdom of God.

We hope you’ve enjoyed this breakdown.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-4-22

Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV) 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities…

Part 2

Welcome back!

In yesterday’s devotional, we began taking a look at some aspects of spiritual warfare, including some of what we’re seeing around us in the world today. We established a foundation; a springboard from which we will move forward with this series.

As we mentioned yesterday, we don’t fight against men or women. We fight against the spirits that are moving in those men and women.

Sometimes it can be very hard for our flesh to separate the person from the spirit in action. But we must learn to have the eyes that allow us to see what’s behind the actions people are taking.

Make no mistake. Most of these people who are carrying out the enemy’s plans know full well what they are doing. The majority of them have sold themselves out for power and money.

But our prayers and our battle maneuvers must target the spirits of darkness that are at work, not the fleshly body in which they dwell and move.

This is probably one of the biggest things we wrestle with as followers of Christ. And there is no doubt that we all wrestle with this to one degree or another. But we have to allow God to carry us above the fleshly reactions and emotions, allowing us to see things from a 40,000-foot view, so to speak.

Doing this will help us see things more clearly than if we were to look solely through our own eyes.

And once we get to see our actual enemy at work, we can work more effectively to combat his moves.

Let’s look now at some of the spiritual adversaries we must battle against.

The first, and probably the most powerful is the principalities.

Principalities are powerful spirits/demons who have been given dominion (power, authority, control) over areas or regions.

These spirits will vary from one region to another as to what sin, or what type of darkness rules over their assigned area.

This can be clearly seen as you look at different areas.

Tomorrow we will continue to examine this in more depth.

Stay tuned.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-3-22

Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV) 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood…

Part 1

Spiritual warfare is something we teach on and speak about frequently.

Why? Because it’s a necessity for believers to understand it and be equipped to fight the battles that we all face.

Without proper teaching and training, we will not survive such battles.

It has become abundantly clear that we are in an epic spiritual battle right now. Darkness (evil) is working feverishly to overcome and defeat light (good).

This is not a new battle. It has been going on since the beginning of time.

John 1:5 (NIV) 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

In John 1:5, the translation used here says that the darkness has not overcome the light. Other translations use other verbs, such as extinguished, overpowered or absorbed.

It’s important for us to understand that the darkness (evil, wickedness and everything that stands against God).) will never defeat the light.

But that doesn’t mean that it will stop trying. The goal of the enemy is to take out and defeat as many people as possible before God finally brings him to his final end.

The battle that is so heavily raging right now is not a battle of flesh and blood. Our war is not against men and women, even though we see men and women carrying out the plans of the enemy.

The people carrying this out are pawns of the enemy; humans who have largely given themselves over to evil, sacrificing their souls for wealth and power. Their sins have consumed them, and God has given them over to their depravity, leaving them to their own devices.

Let’s continue this tomorrow, as we dig deeper into the spiritual aspects of this and explore it on a deeper level that will help us better understand it all.

We hope you’ll join us!

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-25-21

Philippians 4:8 (NKJV) 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

Spiritual warfare can wear on you after a while.

Our minds and bodies can become tired from the constant onslaught and the endless battles we face and fight each day. This is even more true when it comes to lengthy battles.

At some point, we need a reprieve; a break in the battles that are waged against our minds, where the enemy likes to play the most.

The verse above is just; a prescription for peace of mind and a rest in between battle fronts.

God’s word is absolutely the best weapon we have against so many of the things that we fight with.

It doesn’t matter whether it’s mental fatigue, anxiety, or even physical exhaustion. God’s word holds the cure.

We need to be sure to set time aside to dig into His word and feast on it, so we will have the words of God firmly embedded in us, allowing us to draw from that well at any point in time, allowing us to meditate and ponder on the goodness of God in a split second.

It doesn’t matter if we need His reassurances, His promises, His peace, His mercy or His grace.

We find it all in His word. And it’s when we meditate on it that He rebuilds our strength, eases our minds, renews our spirit and even cleanses our heart.

So, don’t give up the fight. Meditate, instead, on the things of God that heal us and bring strength to us again.

Psalm 51:10 (NKJV) 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-12-21

Psalm 96:2-3 (NKJV) 2 Sing to the Lord, bless His name; Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day. 3 Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples.

When I Woke up today, I was all over the place with my thoughts.

Does that happen to you? I mean really, first thing in the morning it has to start? I have to fight to keep peace and keep my mind under control.

It can be tiring and can wear me out before my day even begins.

2 Corinthians 10:5 (NKJV) 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

Welcome to spiritual warfare.

We are at war, brothers and sisters in Christ, every day, trying to keep our thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ.

Of course, some days seem to be harder than others.

Do you feel the battle raging more than ever before?

It’s real. We are fighting to keep our relationship and our closeness with God. The enemy would love to stick a wedge between us so he can pry us apart.

That is the war we are in, my brothers and sisters, to hold onto God and keep that closeness tight. No space in between.

One thing that helps me the most is starting my day with praise and prayer. I know it’s hard to do some days when we are under constant attack.

Our thoughts are everywhere, connected to everything; even things that are not for us to be concerned about. The way the enemy gets us is by trying to make us fearful.

The way to resist the enemy when we are in a place like this is to proclaim the good news. Declare God’s glory and wonders among all. Sing and pray. Don’t let fear grip our mind. keep our mind soundly on Him, and keep going.

2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV) 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
