Bible Verse of The Day – 10-4-16

Romans 6:1-2 (NKJV) 6 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?

Grace is a gift from God. It is part of His plan for giving us freedom from our sins.

When we mess up and do something we shouldn’t do, grace allows us to go to God and be forgiven. It’s part of the reason we aren’t condemned to hell for sinning. And grace means that even though we don’t always get it right, God can still look upon us and not be repelled by our behavior. It also means that we can have fellowship with Him, despite our less-than-perfect ways.

Grace, however, is not a “license to sin”, as some might look at it as being. Just because we have God’s grace in our lives doesn’t give us the right to do what we please simply because we know that God’s grace is available to us.

Intentionally and willfully acting out our sinful desires is the equivalent of nailing Jesus to the cross and crucifying Him all over again. Please don’t mistake this as meaning that if we occasionally make a bad choice that we are purposely crucifying Christ repeatedly. But repeated, habitual choices to commit acts that are contrary to God’s word and His desire for our lives do make light of what Jesus did for us.

This can be a hard message for us to swallow. It causes us to face ourselves and see who we really are in the light of God’s holiness. It forces us to admit our shortcomings and our faults. And it brings humility to us as we realize that we still need God’s grace in our lives.

This is not a message of condemnation. This is, however a good reminder for us to hold ourselves accountable to God and live our lives as beacons of light, not as purveyors of darkness.

Starting today, right now, go forth and be the light of the world and the salt of the earth.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-22-16

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

The ways of the world remind me of sandpaper. They rub on us, trying to wear us down a little at a time. And if we’re not careful, before we know it we’re blending right in with everyone else.

Or think of it like when a bug hits the windshield on your car. At first it’s just one blotch. But then you turn on your windshield wipers and it gets spread all over the place, making it hard to see.

Sin does that to us too. It makes it hard for us to see clearly. It’s little at first. But that little spot can grow if we don’t remove it completely. If we try to cover it over or we make only a feeble effort to overcome it, it will only grow and become worse.

And then it gets hard to see anything clearly. Right and wrong begin to blend together. Black and white become gray.

But there’s a cure for this. God has promised us that we will never be tempted with more than we can bear. And in doing so, He will always provide a way out.

Many times we tend to complicate things and make it seem like avoiding sin is some kind of intricate process. But in reality, it usually involves us saying no and letting God strengthen us so we can turn from it and walk away.

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV) 13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

So we challenge you today. Don’t let sin become like that bug on the windshield, smeared and smudged until you can no longer see clearly. Let God clean it off thoroughly. Let Him guide your steps.

Let Him show you the way out. And when He shows you, be sure to follow it!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-14-16

Proverbs 26:11 (NKJV) 11 As a dog returns to his own vomit, So a fool repeats his folly.

Have you ever wondered why some people just can’t seem to break free from their bad habits or their sin?

This happens because people love what they’re doing. Yes, there are addictions and there are demonic influences that play a role in this. But when a person loves their sin, they will be forever bound by it.

And so we see the cycle of a person making an effort to come clean and change their ways, but they continually fall back into it.

It could be alcohol addiction. It could be drugs. It could be porn. It could be overeating. It could be any number of things that are harmful to us or others.

This happens a lot. We can probably all attest to seeing this happen in the life of a person we know. Maybe we can even say that this has happened, or is happening to us, in certain areas of our lives.

When push comes to shove, it is our love for that particular sin that drives us. It draws us back to it, over and over again.

Until we hate the sin, we will never be able to walk away from it. Until we get so mad at the sin, and our repeated lack of control over it, that we absolutely want to see change, we will never change.

This is the truth when it comes to any kind of bad habit, addiction or destructive behavior. We have to reach a point where we despise the sin and what it does to us. Then, and only then, will we truly want to see change and do what is needed to make it happen.

God wants to help us break free. He wants us to live a life of victory. He wants to give us the help that we need to come clean once and for all.

It’s up to us to do whatever is necessary to let Him help. And sometimes this requires drastic measures on our part.

Many times it means a complete change in our lifestyle. Sometimes it means walking away from our “friends”. Sometimes it means a drastic change in our daily habits and routines. No matter what it is, we have to WANT it badly enough to go after it with everything in us, surrendering to God and giving Him complete control of our lives.

If you’re struggling and wrestling with sin in your life, we urge you today to take whatever action is necessary to get free. Go to God. Repent before Him. Cry out to Him and ask Him to give you the courage to face your sin and the strength to overcome it, in the name of Jesus.

It’s never too late. Don’t put it off any longer. Today is your day.

2 Corinthians 6:2 (NKJV) 2 For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-16-16

Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV) 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

We can get sidetracked pretty easily sometimes. When this happens, we can even lose sight of the thoughts that God has toward us. Today is a little reminder of how He thinks toward us all.

The devil would love for us to think that we are not included in this verse, maybe because we have done many things wrong against God.

But, the truth is that our name is in this verse. We have all done things wrong at one time or another and God gives us a chance to fix things. God truly loves us and wants the best future for us.

Matthew 18:22 (NKJV) 22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.

We serve a GRACIOUS Father. It’s not too late for us to give Him first place. We have to want to. We have to reach a point in our walk where we are sick and tired of the wrong things we do and want to do what’s right. We have to hate the sin and love God and righteous living MORE than we love the sin.

Are we there yet? Are we willing to hate that which pushes us away from our loving Father?

Only we can answer that question. And only then can we take the steps to get close to Him and let Him help us have the future He wants to give us.

If we are alive and breathing then it is NOT too late. And yes, the offer still stands, no matter how far we have fallen, but we have to be willing to CHANGE.

Today is a new day and a fresh start.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-2-16

1 Peter 3:18-19 (NKJV) 18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God…

Most of us reading this already know that Jesus died for us. We’ve been told hundreds and hundreds of times.

But why? Why did He have to die for our sins?

Sin separates us from God. It creates a gap between us that can’t be bridged with good works, religious piety, religious rituals or anything else that we can dream up.

God’s word teaches this from the beginning to the end, from Genesis to Revelation.

And it was because of this separation that Jesus had to die. His sacrifice on the cross removed the gap, the barrier, between us and God because He was sinless.

And because he bore the sins of the world while He was on the cross, God turned away from Him. Jesus felt the gap between Himself and the Father for the first time. And because of it, He cried out, asking why God had abandoned Him.

Mark 15:34 (NKJV) 34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

The same thing happens to us. Sin separates us from God. And when we sin repeatedly, we grow further and further from Him.

Only when we confess our sin and turn from it do we close the gap between us and God again.

So, we urge you today, if you’re feeling distance between you and God, let’s check ourselves and see if we’ve fallen into habitual sin. Have we become desensitized and made something a habit that’s not pleasing to God?

It’s never too late to start fresh and make things right. He’s always right there, waiting for us right where we left Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-21-15

Hebrews 4:13 (NKJV) 13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

Every day we choose whether to give in to temptation or not.

Sometimes the choice we make is one that everybody will see.

Other times, there are choices we make that nobody else ever knows anything about; Secret choices.

Secret sin is the most dangerous sin. Because no one sees it, we seem to have no accountability. We don’t have to answer to anyone about it. Or so it seems.

God is invisible to our natural eyes. We don’t see Him. And this can sometimes make it seem easy to do something that we know we shouldn’t do and get away with it. But in reality, God sees everything we do and knows our very thoughts.

Jeremiah 17:10 (NKJV) 10 I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.

So when we do make poor choices and walk into sin, God knows it, even if we do it hidden from the view of everyone else.

So, those paperclips we took home from work? He sees them. The grapes we ate while walking through the store, before paying for them? He saw that. The times we lusted after another person? God knows all about it. And the things we look at on the internet when nobody else is around? Uh huh, He sees that too.

But it’s never too late to make things right!

We need to confess these things to Him and come clean. We need to tell Him if we’re struggling with something. We need to ask for help and get free of these habits, before they eventually destroy us.

Proverbs 28:13 (NKJV) 13 He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.

Getting before God and laying it all down might not seem enjoyable. But once we do it, we will feel free and light! The burden and weight of the guilt will be gone and we can work on letting God clean us up and fixing the stuff that caused us to stumble in the first place.

Don’t wait. Get before Him and do this today. The longer we wait, the worse the sin will get.

Go ahead. He’s waiting.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-25-15

Romans 6:1 (NKJV) 1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?

Jesus shed His blood for us, died and rose again, to pay for our sins. He redeemed us by His blood. Because of that blood being shed, we were given the opportunity to be made new in Him.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

When we put our faith and trust in Him, His blood is applied to our lives, making us new, giving us a new, fresh start at life. It’s a truly amazing thing, this gift that we’re given.

As part of this new beginning, God replaces our old desires with new ones; His desires.

Because of this, our habits change. Our ways of doing things change. And there will likely be a lot of things that used to be a part of our everyday lives that simply fall away and get left behind.

This process takes time. It doesn’t happen overnight. But the important thing is that it does happen.

Sometimes we can get caught up in things that pull us back into our old ways. And before we know it, we’re picking up some of those old habits again.

We want to encourage you today. If you’ve fallen back into old habits, or if maybe you’ve had a hard time getting rid of one of those old behaviors, remember Jesus on the cross.

Consider what He did for us, enduring a brutal beating and a cruel death, so that we could live and have life abundantly.

Ask God to help you with that thing or those things that want to entangle you in sin once again. Give them to Him. Surrender to Him, instead of surrendering to the temptation that the evil one brings to you.

It won’t always be easy, but through Christ, you can overcome it!

Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-16-15

James 1:21 (NKJV) 21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

This scripture is pretty self explanatory. Simply stay away from or stop doing those things that are not right.

I remember when a man said to me one day “Even when you’re not saved, you know right from wrong. There is this feeling you get on the inside and you just know it.”

This was a man that went through a lot of stuff growing up as a child and during his teenage years. He was in a very dark place, but has since given his life to Christ and is a different man today. He lives a good life.

We know when something is not right; we can’t deny it. We can ignore it, but we can not deny that feeling and that knowing on the inside.

God gave us a way to get out of any bad situation or wrong conversations. He gave us two legs. Let us learn to walk away from filth and wickedness. When we stand there and listen and laugh about the things we know are not right, we are joining in whether we wanted to or not.

Spending time in His Word will change our hearts, transform us and renew our minds, and it will give us the strength we need to do what is right.

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-6-15

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (NKJV) 9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

Just because the world around us says it’s alright to do certain things, it doesn’t mean it’s alright with God. We need to know and understand that there are consequences for the things we partake in.

In these verses, God clearly shows us that if we are participating in any one of these things and we do not repent and turn from them, we will not inherit the kingdom of God.

God loves each one of us and He made a way for us to get free from sin, through His Son Jesus Christ. He made a way for us to get free and to stay free, but we must choose which path we want.

If God is speaking to your heart today, take a step toward Him and pray the prayer below.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I come to You today and I ask You to forgive me for my sins. I know that these things that I have participated in are wrong and against You and I am sorry. I want to turn my life around. Please help me to live the life You have for me, to be all that You want me to be. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

If you prayed this prayer today, please write or call and let us know, we’d love to hear your testimony and be praying with you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-19-13

(John 8:3-4 NKJV)  Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, {4} they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act.

Most of us are familiar with this story. A woman was caught in the act of adultery and she was brought before Jesus by her accusers to see how He would handle this situation.

Ultimately, Jesus shamed them all and they walked away, one by one, dropping the large stones that they had intended to kill her with. He taught them that before they could condemn anyone, they’d better make sure their own lives were free of sin.

Finally, the only ones left there were Jesus and the accused woman.

Now, most times when this story is taught, people focus on the fact that Jesus told the woman that she was forgiven. And this is very true. Jesus did tell her that she was forgiven.

But just as importantly, Jesus said something else to her that was critical. He told her to “go and sin no more“.

(John 8:11 NKJV)  … And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”

Repentance is a key part of forgiveness. Without it, the picture gets distorted. If we ask God to forgive us for something that we have done, we’d better be prepared to repent and turn away from those things that we’re asking to be forgiven for.

Asking for forgiveness and then going right back to that same sin isn’t true repentance.

Just as Jesus did, we urge you today to “go and sin no more”.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-8-13

(Hebrews 3:12-13 NKJV)  Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; {13} but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

The deceitfulness of sin is a terrible thing that every single one of us struggles with at one time or another.

Sin is indeed deceitful. It can start out so small and subtle, sneaking in almost unnoticed. Most times we know it’s there, but we try to brush it off and hope it won’t happen again or grow bigger.

One sin can lead to another, and before we know it, it begins to cause our heart to become hardened as we try to cover it up or justify it.

I want to appeal to each one of us today to ask God to show us our sin… show us where we have missed Him and dropped the ball. It might be something little or it might be something big, but let’s be honest with ourselves and with our Creator and let Him help us to make it right.

You see, a hard heart is never a good thing. The enemy loves it when we harden our hearts because it makes it easier for him to have a hold on us and power over us.

Once we open ourselves up to God and we let Him expose our hearts, we can begin to see who we are and ask Him to help us in those areas where we’re weak.

Seek God today and let Him show you where He wants to help you, heal you and deliver you.

He is our healer, our deliverer and so much more.
