Bible Verse of The Day – 5-11-18

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV) 1 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven…

I love this time of year. Here in the northern part of the USA everything starts to show its beauty again. Yes, what seemed to be so dead and lifeless is now beginning to pop out and show signs of life!

Isn’t that the way it feels and looks when we are going through some seasons in our lives? Ugly, hopeless and dead, like nothing at all is happening. Everything is still; no life or forward motion going on.

It may seem like that on the surface, just like it does with the trees, the grass, the plants and the shrubs, etc. They look like they are so far gone. Nothing is going on. But, on the inside they are really just doing their thing to get ready for the next season to come. And, oh the beauty they will bring forth.

It starts with the little tiny buds and then it just flourishes from there. It’s simply gorgeous, the changes that come!

It’s just like what God is doing in our hearts and our lives during the seasons that feel so dry, dull and dead. Just wait to see the beauty that God has in store for us!

The key is to wait for the season and be sure we don’t pop out before our time or we could damage that very beautiful thing that God is preparing for us.

Be careful how we look at things and claim them to be dead. They may be more alive than we could ever know!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-6-18

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV) 3 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven…

Have you ever been through a season in your life where everything seems like it’s just about perfect, and you hope it will never end?

It’s pretty safe to say that most of us have those seasons from time to time.

They’re not all that common. And most times they tend not to last too long. But when they do come, we hate to see them go. Sometimes we love those seasons so much that we try to hang onto them long after they have ended.

Doing this can cause us to miss out on what God has in store for us in the next season He has put before us.

Because we like being comfortable and familiar with things, it can sometimes be hard for us to move forward, preferring instead to stay where we know and understand what’s happening, even if it’s not always the best thing for us.

The Israelites did this when Moses led them out of Egypt. God miraculously brought them into a new season of hope and wonder. But because it was unfamiliar to them, and some aspects of it were a bit uncomfortable, they actually wanted to return to the slavery of Egypt!

Let’s be careful that we don’t do this too. It’s OK to enjoy a season, but we also need to make sure we let God lead us freely into the next season He has for us, even if it means embracing change.

God will be faithful to lead us through that next season, if we let Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-28-16

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV) 3 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:

When seasons change we must learn to adjust to that change. As I look out my window this afternoon I see how the leaves on the trees are all gone.

That same tree that was recently full and lush with beautiful leaves now stands bare. In the western hemisphere, the winter season is here. The days will be cold and we will have to adjust accordingly to the change that has come.

And so it is with the seasons in our lives. Some things will come and bring a different way of doing things. If we don’t accept them and adjust our life to them, we will have a difficult time getting through that new season.

It all comes down to learning to let go, moving on and adjusting accordingly. God will help us in this if we embrace the change of the season and let Him show us what adjustments we need to make.

Don’t be afraid, and don’t worry. It will be beautiful once again. Just in a different way.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NKJV) 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-3-15

John 3:30 (NKJV) 30 He must increase, but I must decrease.

These are John’s very words to his disciples. John was baptizing people when Jesus came, and Jesus and His disciples were baptizing people as well.

John’s disciple’s didn’t understand why all the people were going to Jesus to get baptized.

John explained to his disciple’s that it was his time to decrease, and that Jesus must increase.

It’s important for all of us to know when to back off, just like John shows us here, and to know the timing of things; when to step up to the plate and when to back away and let someone else step in.

Do we always want to back away? Sometimes it can be very hard to back away.

We know of a situation where someone did not back away in the right timing and ruined something that could have been great.

This is what happens when we get our grip on something and we are too stubborn or prideful to loosen it.

If this teaching is speaking to you today, you are struggling with backing away to let someone else step up to the plate and take over, look at this verse and think about John. If he didn’t decrease, and let Jesus increase and do what He needed to do, he would have messed things up big time.

Back away, loosen the grip and let someone else take over. It’s their time.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-3-14

Ecclesiastes 3:4 (NKJV) 4 A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance…

This verse encourages us to weep, to laugh, to mourn and to dance.

There are going to be times when we will find ourselves doing these very things and there is nothing wrong with doing any of them.

Some people get upset when they see grown men cry. They may think it’s not right for men to cry. Well, Jesus cried.

John 11:35 (NKJV) 35 Jesus wept.

It’s OK for men to weep and let it out. Some people may not even know how to cry, because they were taught to be strong and hold those tears back.

In order for us to be able to laugh again, sometimes we may need to weep; get some things off our chest, so to speak. It may be the very thing we need to do in order to let some things go.

Mourning is another one. There will be times when we need to mourn. How will we ever get past letting something go if we don’t take the time to mourn? Go ahead and mourn. This is a natural process that we must go through if we ever want to be able to laugh and dance again!

The important thing to remember is that this verse says, there is, “a TIME”, meaning we shouldn’t remain weeping or mourning forever. There comes a time of laughing and dancing as well!

If you find yourself stuck in mourning for someone or something and you can’t seem to get past it, there may be something that you are struggling with letting go of or facing. It’s going to take you asking God to show you what you are still hanging onto and why. He will help you with this as you sincerely seek Him for the answer.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-26-14

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV) To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven

Have you ever gotten a feeling that something you’ve been doing for a long time needs to change?

Maybe there’s something that you’ve enjoyed doing for a very long time. It was always a pleasure for you, but now it seems like a chore. Sometimes you even dread it.

Sometimes it’s just our flesh wanting to “scratch an itch”. We get bored and want change. It’s a normal human trait.

But there are times when this is just part of a changing of seasons in our life. We have worked through one season and we’re heading into another season. When this happens, we will “lose the grace” for something that we have done for a long time without ever even thinking about it.

But now it suddenly feels empty, frustrating, boring and lifeless to us. Sometimes God will bring this about in us to cause us to become uncomfortable with where we are, because He wants to move us into something new!

If we stay comfortable where we’re at, we will most likely never move on to new things.

Sometimes it can be tough to tell if we’re “scratching an itch” or if our grace has run out for something because God is moving us into a new season of our life. But as we grow closer to God and learn His ways, it gets easier over time.

Remember… there is a season and a purpose for everything under heaven.
