Bible Verse of The Day – 7-7-24 – When Seasons Change

Greetings.

Jesus is alive and the Father is still on His throne!

We have a new video for you today that we think will offer a little bit of help to everyone.

We speak frequently about changing seasons in our lives because it is a topic that we all deal with.

In today’s new video, When Seasons Change, we teach about recognizing changing seasons and learning how to handle each change that comes our way and transition from one season to another.

No two seasons are the same. And the transition from an old season to the new one is always different.

We hope this video will help each of you in some way.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-16-23

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV) 1 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:

It is mid-September as I write this. We woke this morning to cooler, drier air and a breeze coming from the north, bringing crisp, refreshing temperatures with it.

The ushering in of the autumn season has begun. Gradually, we will transition from Summer to Fall.

This transition reminds me of the changes that come with the new seasons in our lives.

I have come to understand over the years that life is, in fact, nothing more than an ongoing series of changes and transitions that start the day we are born and end the day we breathe our last breath and enter into our eternal heavenly home.

Some of the transitions from one season to another come slowly, gently, drawing almost no attention on our part. They just gradually happen; no drama or fanfare.

Other seasons come in with a bang. They demand our attention and require significant effort on our part to adjust.

Many times, these types of seasons bring with them drastic changes that include trauma and trials we must face and navigate.

They disrupt our sense of normalcy and can make us feel like the rug has been yanked from under our feet with no advance warning. We might even feel like we have been caught up in a whirlwind that won’t stop spinning.

During these times of drastic change and upheaval it can be easy to lose our footing and become fearful or doubtful.

And if we are not careful, our faith in God can take a hit.

Jesus told us about these things when He warned us that in this world trials and tribulations would come. But He also told us that we should not fear because He has overcome the world.

John 16:33 (NKJV) 33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Jesus also taught us that there is only one Foundation upon which we should build our house. That foundation is God Himself. Jesus taught that He is the rock, and nothing should be built that is not built upon this Rock.

Anything built upon the Rock will withstand the storms and remain standing.

Anything, however, that is built upon sand, instead of the Rock, will fall as soon as the wind and waves beat against it, crashing into the sea and being swept away.

Matthew 7:24-25 (NKJV) 24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

So, as we face the changing seasons of our lives, and the storms that these changes can sometimes bring, let us be sure to have built our house upon the Rock that is Christ.

He will never fail us. Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-8-22

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV) 1 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:

Seasons.

Our lives are made of them. We move from one season to another, even if we aren’t aware of it.

The more aware we are of this Biblical principle, the more easily we can navigate the various seasons.

On the other hand, though, if we are not aware of this, we will have great difficulties traversing from season to season.

Seasons can be good, or they can be bad. Some are a mix of both. This is how life works.

One of the biggest problems we run into is when we try hard to hang onto a particular season because we enjoyed it so much. This can cause some pretty bad repercussions for us if we do this.

When this happens, we tend to have one foot in the new season, while trying our hardest to keep the other foot in the season that’s passing. This can be very painful, end even disastrous if we don’t recognize it quickly enough and let go of what we were trying to hold onto.

The changing of seasons may not always be easily recognizable. But as we grow closer to God and we learn to discern the seasons, we will begin to see the changes more easily, saving ourselves a lot of difficulty and heartbreak.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-10-21

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV) 1 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:

Seasons of our lives come and go. We teach about this often.

Some seasons seem fantastic. Life feels effortless. Everything seems to be just right. And we enjoy it immensely.

Other seasons are difficult and it can be hard to make sense of them. Our emotions have us on a roller-coaster. Up one day, and down the next.

Most seasons like this will challenge us in many ways.

They will test our faith and our trust in God. They can cause us to become more introspective, examining our heart to check our standing in our relationship with Christ.

Most of all, they will test our character. They will show us (and others) who we really are.

That can be a bit scary, as we are forced to face ourselves.

But we don’t have to be afraid. We just need to be sure that our faith is anchored in God, not in the circumstances of our life.

As we learn to do that, those seemingly scary seasons become less and less scary, and more like learning sessions that strengthen us for the next trial that we face.

Romans 5:3-4 (NKJV) 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-26-20

Genesis 19:26 (NKJV) 26 But his wife looked back behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

We recently wrote a devotional that spoke about the current events, and how important it is that we not get stuck looking back at the way things were.

In response to that devotional, we had a few people email us with questions, looking for clarification as to what we were referring to, or exactly what we meant.

We responded to the emails, but wanted to write a bit more today, to bring further clarity and understanding.

As we’ve also written about a lot in the past, it’s important that we not get stuck always looking back at past events, longing to go back to the way things were. It’s not what God intends for us.

As I like to say quite often, God created us with eyes in the front of our heads so we can look forward, not back.

Seasons change. In fact, change is the only real constant in life. Life is not static, even though we might sometimes think we would like it to be that way.

With changing seasons comes changes in our situations. Some of those changes are very big. They can send us reeling if we are not firmly grounded in God.

Even if we have a great walk with God, they can still knock the wind out of us sometimes.

This is why Jesus taught that it is important to learn to discern the spiritual seasons, not just the natural seasons.

Luke 12:56 (NKJV) 56 Hypocrites! You can discern the face of the sky and of the earth, but how is it you do not discern this time?

Knowing what’s happening, and what’s on the horizon, so to speak, will help keep us from being caught off guard and will help us spot our enemy when he is planning and strategizing.

And, just as importantly, when our walk with God is strong, we won’t spend our lives looking back over our shoulders, wishing we could go back to what was familiar and comfortable.

This is not a slam toward those who like to reminisce. Not at all. Having pleasant memories to enjoy is good. It means that we treasure what we have had in the past.

The key, though, is not to long to go back there, being ungrateful or unthankful for what God is doing right here, right now.

The Israelites were terribly guilty of this, as God led them through the wilderness toward the new land that He had promised them.

Despite the fact that He literally sheltered them from the hot sun by day with a cloud, lit the night up with fire, fed them and provided for their every need, they whined and cried that they just wanted to go back to Egypt. What a serious slap in God’s face that was.

This is why it’s critical that we press in to Him, listen for His heart and His spirit, to know what he is saying right now, in this season of change.

I know this has been a bit lengthy, but it is necessary in order to make sure that we understand the importance of moving with God, looking to Him for every answer that we need, and then stepping forward with Him as He leads us.

And as we do so, we need not ever look back. Ever.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-24-20

Daniel 2:21 (NKJV) 21 And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise And knowledge to those who have understanding.

Over the last 20 years or so, God has taught us a lot about the seasons in our lives.

He has taught us that life is made up of various seasons. Each season is different. Sometimes only slightly different. Other times they are vastly different.

Seasons come and they go and God wants us to learn to flow with those seasons.

Some seasons are wonderful and full of joy. Others are a little tougher to take. But God is faithful in all of them.

Many of us struggle to let go of the joyful seasons. And that’s understandable, due to human nature enjoying comfort.

Seasons that aren’t so joyful can teach us a lot, both about ourselves and about who we are in Christ.

And they can teach us a lot about where our trust lies.

As we change from one season to the next, it’s good to take notice of how willing we are to step out of the old season and into the new one, because this will also show us how much we trust God to lead us.

The cool thing about Him is that He knows us better than we know ourselves, and He will keep prompting us to move forward with Him, even when we are trying to keep one foot in the old and slowly move one into the new.

There will come a time, though, when we absolutely have to pick up that straggling foot and move it forward. Refusing to do so could put us in danger of missing God’s timing completely. And that is never a good thing.

This can apply to just about any area of our lives. It’s not limited solely to “church things” or “things of God”. It’s important that we understand that fact, since we can tend to get tunnel vision sometimes.

We need to stay alert, learn to discern the seasons, and trust God enough to move with the changing seasons, instead of fighting against them.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-4-20

Ecclesiastes 3:6 (NKJV) 6 A time to gain, And a time to lose; A time to keep, And a time to throw away…

The changing of seasons is very much a part of our lives. We can be on top of a mountain one day and in the valley the very next.

We all go through it. Some people just know how to keep a smile on their face, even in tragedy and loss, but they still feel the sting.

Can we maybe remember a time in our lives when everything seemed good? We had a good job, and we had a good income. We were saving money and paying cash for things. We had no debt, no payments. Just good living. Our family got along. Everything flowed nicely.

And then something came along, and it hit us hard, wiped it all out, and we stood there wondering what just happened.

Life! That’s what happened. Life is made up of seasons. And we can learn a great deal from each one.

In order to make it through this life without getting beat down, we need to look at things differently.

We are going to lose things and people in some seasons of our lives, and we are going to gain in some seasons. But no matter what season we are in, we can be content if we keep our heart and eyes on the One who keeps us content, Our Father, Lord and Provider.

He knows what season we are facing right now. He knows what we need to get through. Lean on Him. He will strengthen us.

Psalm 119:28 (NKJV) 28 My soul melts from heaviness; Strengthen me according to Your word.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-15-19

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV) 1 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven…

The deeper we go with God, the more we will realize there is a certain place where we belong, and a reason why we do what we do. Timing is everything!

We are not just here to live the lives we want or imagine. We can very well do that, it’s our choice. But, if we want God’s will in our lives continually, we will be willing to listen and watch for His direction and then do our part as well, taking steps when needed and in the right time. It takes us giving up our will and walking out His.

The most important thing to remember in this type of living is that God will move us to do things that we would never have expected or thought of doing. And that’s OK, as long as He is in it.

Being led by the Spirit of God is going to change us in many ways. Our mind will be transformed to think more about Him. It will no longer be so easily persuaded to just do whatever. Those normal, everyday, routine thoughts and things we do will no longer be as important as our submission to Him.

This won’t happen overnight, but over time, as we continue to give Him our all.

We will learn His voice and His promptings, and recognize when change has come and seasons have ended.

Psalm 143:10 (NKJV) 10 Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-5-19

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV) 1 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:

I’m not a fan of Winter.

When I was a kid, I loved it. I grew up in New England, where we have a full 4 seasons; Winter, Spring, Summer & Fall. We get to see the annual recurring life, death and rebirth of the trees and plants each year.

In my childhood years, I would spend hours each week on a snowmobile, zipping along fields, and traversing mountain trails on a snowmobile with my dad, and sometimes my grandfather and uncle. I looked forward to it each year as Winter approached!

These days, though, I look forward instead to Spring and Summer, when I can spend my free time on my small boat, immersing myself in nature, catching freshwater bass.

Being on the water like this lets me take in the beauty of God’s creation. I get to see sunrises and sunsets. I get to hear the sounds of the whippoorwills, bull frogs, ospreys calling as they soar overhead, and even coyotes howling at night, after the sun has gone down.

And the stars are an incredible sight to behold. Their beauty is breathtaking on those clear nights when they light up the sky.

All of these things are a testament to God’s majesty, power and might.

But above all, I love the Spring, as we get to watch everything that appears to be dead come alive all over again!

As Winter wanes and everything is cold and bleak, the weather starts to warm ever so slightly, and the days get longer.

The sun gets stronger, and a change can be felt. Life begins to stir again in the plants. And the animals begin their annual rituals to bring new life into the world in their domain.

And as Spring peaks, everything is in full bloom. The flowers pop and their colors are incredible to see. The trees bloom and their leaves are a brilliant green where, only a few weeks ago, there was nothing but gray, lifeless empty branches.

This is God in action!

This annual rebirthing reminds me of the new life He offers us, taking us from dead and dull, to alive and thriving, overflowing with His new life.

We were dead in our sins; as dead as dead can be. But He has taken us from death to life by the power of His spirit.

Maybe you live in an area where you’ve never witnessed the miraculous process of the 4 seasons. But trust me when I tell you that it’s like watching a miracle every year, second only to the miracle of rebirth by the blood of Jesus Christ.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-23-19

Ecclesiastes 3 (NKJV} 1 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:

Are we one of those people who wants to handle everything on their own, never wanting to rely on someone else to get the job done? We want to be the one.

Why? Because if it’s in our hands then we know it will get done the way we want it to be done; one less thing to think about.

This is not a bad mindset until we have too much on our plate. And then what happens?

Then we have to scurry around and find someone to help us at the last minute.

You see, if we teach someone or allow them to help us, even when we are not going 150 MPH, then when the time comes they will be prepped and ready. All we will have to do is say the word and they are there for us.

Stop trying to take the whole load on ourselves. There may come a time when we need to delegate or entrust our work to others, or ask for help and learn to receive it from those that God has lined up and prepared to help us. Amen.
