There are many things that we can build the foundation of our lives on. The world offers much when it comes to this.
Philosophies. Relationships. Money. Social Status. Career Success. Etc.
Unfortunately, though, those are all like foundations made of sand. They will last for a while. But when the storms and floods come, and the wind and waves beat against them, they will crumble and disintegrate. And our house will fall into the sea and be washed away.
Jesus tells us that we need to be wise and build our house on the rock! So how do we do that? How do we build a house with such a strong foundation?
By putting our faith, hope and trust in Him and doing what He tells us to do.
Jesus Himself told us in the verse above that if we hear what he says and then we do it, He likens us to the wise man who built his house on the rock.
And if we are like that wise man, when the storms of life come, our house will remain standing.
Matthew 7:25 (NKJV) 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
