Category: Loving The Sinner

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-29-24

Mark 2:17 (LSB) 17 And hearing this, Jesus said to them, “Those who are healthy do not have need for a physician, but only those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

It is funny how we, followers of Christ, often forget that we were once lost and unsaved, wallowing in our own dirt and sinfulness.

And as we grow, putting distance between ourselves and our past, we begin to look down on those who are in that same sinful state now.

How terrible it would be for us if God had not seen fit to save us!

If we were to take seriously what Jesus said about the well not needing a doctor, we just might begin to look at many things quite differently.

Maybe those whom we look down upon would be sitting next to us in the church pew.

Maybe those we shun would feel less like outsiders when they are around us.

Maybe those we “cast stones” at would feel less condemned in our presence.

If we keep ourselves open to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, we will be much less likely to “act like pharisees” and more likely to recognize this tendency in ourselves when it happens.

It is only then that God can change this in us.

As Jesus said in Matthew, 19:26, “With men, this is impossible. But with God all things are possible!”

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-13-21 – Unlovable

Please click to watch the video now.Greetings in the name of Jesus!

We all know someone who is hard to love. There can be many reasons for them being that way. Regardless of the reason, though, God has called us to love even those who are unlovable.

In our newest video, Unlovable, we teach on this topic and discuss this from a Biblical point of view.

This video is very short and informative. And it is something that we all need to hear and ponder on if we want to make sure we’re walking in God’s will for our lives, so we hope you’ll take a few minutes and watch it.

Please click here to watch the video now.

We love you all.

Sincerely in Christ,

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-3-13

(John 13:34 NKJV)  “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

This was the very first commandment Jesus gave to the disciples after He sent Judas away, giving Judas permission to go and betray Him.

Jesus knew He would only be around for a little while longer. His time had come.

He spent His entire time here loving all those that were around Him and those that He came in contact with. This commandment can make all the difference in the world as we follow His example.

As we go to work or school, care for our children, etc., wherever we go… take time to really love those around us. No matter how they may treat us, let us love them and do what Jesus commanded.

Have a great week!

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-15-13

(1 John 3:18 NKJV)  My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

This verse reminds us that action means more than just words themselves.

If we are going to share the love of God, we need to take action. How many of us today are so full of wanting to do something for God, but when we think of doing something, we think of the “mission field” as being in some other country where there is no water or food, or where there are lots of sick and lost people.

We need to take a look around right where we are at today. There are sick and hungry people, and there are lost and dying people everywhere. We don’t have to leave our country to find them…but start right where we are at.

Let us not waste one more day. Reach out today with actions of love and truth and may God’s love move through us MIGHTILY to help that ONE!! Amen!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-28-13

(2 Corinthians 5:10 NKJV)  For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

In these days of heated political battles and the escalating fight between good and evil, it can be very easy to get caught in the middle of debates regarding moral issues and other hot buttons that abound in the world we live in.

These can be such topics as homosexuality, same-sex marriage, abortion, etc. Everyone seems to have an opinion on these and most people are very passionate about their opinion.

In the end, God is our judge; not the courts, the Supreme Court justices, the politicians, the church leaders or any other outspoken leaders or people who just want to be heard.

If God says something is so, then it is so. It doesn’t matter what anyone’s opinion is. Period.

And in the end, we will all stand before Him and answer for those things that we have said and done. This is what matters.

In the meantime, we need to stand firm in our Biblical convictions but we also need to love those around us while doing so. Constant arguments and heated debates will not show God’s love.

If we find ourselves in situations where things are getting heated, it’s best to speak our piece and walk away. We don’t need to feel like we should always have the last word.

So stand firm for what God has taught you and love those around you, even if you might not necessarily agree with how they live or what they stand for.

Remember… Love Always Wins!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-2-13

(John 13:34-35 NKJV)  “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. {35} “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

By our love they will know us.

How well do we live this one out? Just reading this verse convicts me. How about you?

Can we honestly say that someone might know that we are a follower of Christ by the love we show to others?

It’s so easy to say that we will love others, but quite a different thing to carry it out. People have a way of getting to us… irritating us and getting under our skin.

Some people just know how to “push our buttons”, so to speak and get us wound up with little effort on their part.

But we are to LOVE them, just as much as we are to love the one who loves us back!

If we are to truly win other to Christ, we need to learn how to love those that God has placed around us, even when it’s not easy!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-13-12

(Mat 9:11-12 NKJV)  And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” {12} When Jesus heard that, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.

It’s so easy sometimes to fall into the same trap that the Pharisees did in this scripture, pointing our finger at someone because they were hanging out with the wrong people.

Jesus spent time with the people who needed Him the most; the sick, the weary and the sinner. He ate with them and talked with them. He showed them love and compassion and He gave them truth, even when it was difficult for them to hear it.

And most of the people he spoke the truth to listened to Him and accepted what He had to say. Why is that? Why did they listen to Him and not run away? Because He spoke to them with love and compassion, not with judgmental, harsh words while looking down His nose at them.

This is a valuable lesson for us all to learn. Sometimes our flesh can get pretty riled up when we see or hear certain things and we can say some pretty harsh things to people. Instead, we need to learn to do as Jesus did and LOVE these people with our actions and our words.

Love is the most powerful thing God has given us to use in teaching others about Him. Let’s walk it out every day, starting with today!

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-14-12

(Mat 9:11-12 NKJV)  And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” {12} When Jesus heard that, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick“.

I want to share something with you today that is a very serious matter. This relates directly to the current state of the body of Christ and the way we see and treat others.

In order to get the point across as clearly and strongly as I can, I want to tell you a little story. Stories help us to see things more clearly sometimes. This might be a bit longer than normal, but I think you’ll see why by the end. So here we go…

Many years ago my family and I were attending a local church. We were there for the Sunday morning service and it was almost starting time. As people filed in and took their seats, a woman who had never been there before made her way through the doors and sat down.

Almost immediately a man got up from his seat and approached her, asking her to please leave because she wasn’t dressed appropriately. The lady was wearing a halter top and this seemed to offend some people because they deemed it to be inappropriate attire for church.

This woman had obviously never been there and had no idea that she was expected to dress a certain way. She came seeking God.

As she got up from her seat to leave, another man in the church intercepted her. He had seen and heard what had happened and offered her a seat next to him and his wife.

This second man showed her love whereas the first man, and those others who had also complained, showed her disdain and self-righteousness… not the love of Christ. They had looked down their noses at her because she didn’t fit the mold that they had established.

Sadly, things like this happen every single day across the globe, inside and outside of church buildings. It happens on the streets and in stores, in work places, in schools and anywhere else where we go.

Man has overstepped their bounds and decided who should and shouldn’t come to Christ, based on the way they are dressed or the way they look. People who have certain haircuts are judged. People wearing certain kinds of clothing are judged. People with certain kinds of tattoos or a certain number of them are judged.

People who drink, smoke or use drugs are judged. Adulterers, fornicators and homosexuals are judged and deemed unworthy to enter the doors of the church. Prostitutes, strippers, gang members… they’re all judged and looked down upon.

This is a travesty… a pity. These are the very people who need to find the love and forgiving power of Christ, yet the church turns them away because they don’t fit the mold.

It’s time for the body of Christ to get over itself and realize that without God’s grace every single one of us could be in those very same shoes.

(1 Cor 15:10 NKJV)  But by the grace of God I am what I am…

Is the behavior of the sinners pleasing to God? Absolutely not. Sin is sin. But it’s the sinner that needs forgiveness and we are supposed to be the vessels through which God’s love and forgiveness flow!!

Church, we need to get on our knees and beg God to forgive us and then ask Him to give us a new heart… a heart for the lost. It’s time for us all to stop putting on airs and start putting on the righteousness of Christ, not our own righteousness, and start seeing the sinner for who they are… lost souls needing love and forgiveness.

This is what we were put here for.
