Bible Verse of The Day – 7-18-24

1 John 1:4 (NKJV) 4 And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.

The joy that John speaks of here does not come from material wealth and success.

This joy is a divine character that we receive from God through His Holy Spirit living in us. It is a knowing of Who He is!

The joy of the Lord is given to us when we make Him our Savior; when we put our faith and trust in Him.

This joy that comes from Him will stick with us through hard times, even when we want to cry out from our pain inside.

Instead, a song of praise will rise up from this joy that is strong even in times of fear.

Paul and Silas were able to pray and sing after being severely beaten and thrown in prison.

Acts 16:25 (NKJV) 25 But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.

When situations like this arise, unless we have the joy of the Lord in us, it’s very difficult to pull ourselves together and act accordingly.

This joy of the Lord sticks with us because of the foundation which it is built on; knowing that He existed before His manifestation in the proper time, knowing that He was birthed through a virgin woman and assumed real manhood, knowing He is our Savior who came and died for our sins.

This joy is unstoppable!

It will take us from the lowest valley to the highest mountain. It is our strength, and it remains in us all today.

John 15:11 (NKJV) 11 “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-1-23

Nehemiah 8:10 (NKJV) 10 Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

Did you ever have one of those days when everything is good, and then you suddenly start feeling like absolutely everything irritates you to no end?

You seriously want to lash out at anyone who even talks to you.

We’ve all been there, right?

The worst part is that this happens, and we almost never know why.

Some might say that this is an attack of the enemy; something spiritual.

I know that this is sometimes the case. But I also know that it is sometimes just something in us that gets started by a small thing that triggers a reaction, and then, once the ball is rolling, we just keep it going.

The thing is, we have the power to stop it. But we must choose to do so.

Stopping this kind of thing doesn’t usually require any special kind of act, like prayer, etc. It just requires us to recognize it and decide to stop falling for it.

Why am I addressing this?

Because the joy of the Lord is our strength. And when these kinds of things hit us, they will rob us of our joy. Losing our joy makes us weak. And when we’re weak, we can fall into many things that we would otherwise be strong enough to avoid.

We need to be mature enough as believers to recognize these types of things. And we need to be strong enough to stop them in their tracks before they become big enough to do damage, either to us or someone around us.

How can they do damage? By the things we might say.

Most of the time, these things can trigger us to say things out of anger or frustration that we instantly regret.

And when we speak harsh words in these instances, it creates situations where we hurt others and need to take steps to reconcile and repair the damage.

It’s far easier to just stop these kinds of things in their tracks than it is to hurt someone and have to try to undo that hurt.

Let’s be mature, recognizing these situations quickly, and putting them to rest as soon as we see it happening.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-17-21

James 1:2-3 (NKJV) 2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.

Joy.

That word always brings to my mind images of people smiling, and maybe even dancing and celebrating.

Never do we think of that word, joy, in the same breath as the word, trials.

But maybe we should change that!

We all encounter trials of various types throughout our lives. Some are minor and others are very serious; maybe even gut-wrenching.

While we’re walking through those trials, we rarely, if ever, think of being joyful. In fact, we usually think quite the opposite.

But God has been frequently showing me recently that having His joy in tough situations will actually change us, and may very well change the outcome of many of the things we face.

Don’t get me wrong. This doesn’t mean that while we’re going through trials we should constantly be dancing and shouting. Trials require our attention. And sometimes they require that we take certain steps to walk through them in a way that will help to bring them to a close, and to a positive finish or outcome.

How we do that, though, says a lot about whether we have joy or not.

If we find ourselves constantly downtrodden, then it’s probably safe to say that we do not have God’s joy at work within us.

Yes, it is OK to mourn in certain situations. It is OK to seriously consider some of the things we face, pondering on what we can learn from them.

It’s not good, though, if we spend every waking hour with our heads hanging, focusing only on what we see to be negative.

After all, look at what James said in verse 3; the testing of your faith produces patience.

If our faith is never tested, we have no way of knowing if it is genuine, or if it is solid or strong.

Anything that is untested is unproven. And if it is unproven, we can never verify it as genuine or legitimate.

So, view trials as opportunities to watch your faith grow. Be joyful in the midst of them. And if we don’t yet know how to do that, let’s allow God to teach us how.

He is the Master Teacher and the Maker of joy itself.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-29-21

Proverbs 10:28 (NKJV) 28 The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hopes of the wicked come to nothing.

Who are the righteous? Those who believe in Jesus Christ, God’s Son. We are the righteous.

Through His salvation comes great joy! And that joy is what keeps us going.

It is alive in us as we continue each day to find the good in all things. Joy comes when we see the beauty in things. Joy will be our best friend if we welcome it and all its goodness.

Where do we find joy? It comes from God. It’s His joy!

He gives us ears to hear it and eyes to see it in the people and things around us.

We find it in creation; the roaring sea, the calm lakes, the birds, the plants and the sky.

We find joy in our hearts when we find God Almighty and His wonders through life and through His words.

There is great joy in knowing His Son, who gave us the hope of eternity with the Father.

We find joy in those things that might mean nothing to others, but we know that our Creator had His hand in them.

Joy comes in the morning when we get up and say, “God gave me the breath of life, and I am breathing and alive because of Him”.

Joy is everywhere. Let it have its way in us.

It will give believers strength to carry on God’s task throughout this earth; joy unspeakable and full of glory.

He is Our Lord, God forever and ever. Rejoice with joy in Him today. Amen.

1 Peter 1:8 (NKJV) 8 whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory…

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-18-21

Nehemiah 8:10 (NKJV) 10 Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

The joy of the LORD is what? It is our strength!

Knowing God, His plan for us, and how much He has sacrificed to bring us back to Him should make us want to dance and shout!

No one besides God would do what He did for us. No one.

God cares for us and loves us more than anyone else could ever love us. His love runs deep for each one of us.

He came to this earth in the form of a baby, to walk with us, love us and die for us. His very plan was for each one of us.

Just the thought of that hurts my head.

We may say that we would do that for our spouse, our children, or our best friend, etc. But would we actually go through with it with the right attitude and sincerity, as Christ did for us?

That is unheard of.

Jesus Christ is One to be worshiped, loved and adored!

He went through so much for us and He did it all without saying anything, other than to let His disciples know what was to come. He held it, knowing that the day and hour would come when He would face the cross. Wow!

And it was not for anything He did wrong. But for what we did wrong.

Everything He did was motivated by love. And because love was His motivation, He was obedient to finish it.

We have to get this kind of understanding in us. When we love like He loved, we will obey and it will bring great satisfaction and overwhelming JOY!

We need the joy of the Lord today more than ever. And this joy will not come from material wealth. We need the JOY of the LORD that comes from Him and Him alone! Amen.

We may get pleasure from having certain things we desire. But we get real joy when we have Him close to us, as we walk humbly with Him each day.

Micah 6:8 (NKJV) 8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-8-20

Romans 15:13 (NKJV) 13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Oh, how precious is our God… Hallelujah!!

How do we get through each day? By having His joy. By walking in His Peace and abounding in His hope.

How do we do that? By the power of the Holy Spirit.

We can’t fabricate or conjure up His joy. It’s God-given, Spirit-led; not fleshly hype.

Did our Sunday service get us hyped up and excited?

Hype does not keep the flame burning. Hype dies when the source of that hype goes away.

Monday morning is when we need joy, peace and hope at its best.

But if we’re relying on that same hype to get us through a tough day or a trying week, we’re going to be in sad shape by Friday afternoon.

Does this happen to us? Come Monday we don’t feel the same?

By Wednesday we’re feeling miserable? By the time Friday rolls around, we’re drained and ready to crash and burn?

Maybe it’s time to leave the hype behind and let God teach us how to walk with Him each and every day in a way that’s meaningful, not based on hype or emotion.

God wants us to get off the rollercoaster of emotion and hype, and let Him teach us what it means to walk in the Spirit.

It’s in the Spirit that we find stability. It’s in the Spirit that we walk in His joy, peace and hope.

It’s in the Spirit that we find liberty, and freedom from the fickleness of our emotions.

And it’s in the Spirit where we find the peace of God that will see us through those times when emotions leave us high and dry.

Colossians 3:15 (NKJV) 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-5-19

Nehemiah 8:10 (NKJV) 10 Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

No matter what comes our way, whether sorrow, sadness, mourning, good news, bad news, weeping, laughter or anything else, we all choose how we will react and how we will carry ourselves in light of what we face.

We can choose to be downtrodden and sullen, letting the weight of the things we face drag us down into despair.

Or we can choose to look beyond what we’re facing and let God lift us up above our situation, finding our joy in Him.

God has equipped us with emotions, feelings that allow us to express ourselves. But never did He intend for us to let those feelings drive us or rule us.

God wants us to look to Him and draw from Him in every situation of our lives, no matter how bad or how incredibly great it is, and let us find our strength in the joy that He brings!

Our lives should not be based on what we have, what we see, what we don’t see or what we lack. But based on letting God speak into our lives every minute of each and every day.

Matthew 4:4 (NKJV) 4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”

Let our joy be in Him, and His joy be our strength. Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-16-18

Proverbs 17:22 (NKJV) 22 A merry heart does good, like medicine, But a broken spirit dries the bones.

Going through some pretty big things, like a major surgery, loss of a loved one, or maybe even a divorce, etc., can hurt the heart, taint it and cause brokenness.

It is heavy stuff, and it happens a lot. People are broken, hurt and going through some challenging things as we speak. It can surely wipe the smile off our faces and rip the joy out of our hearts quickly.

Have we been walking around with unhappiness? Has it been our best friend lately? Is our face beginning to take on a more serious look and we find it very hard to smile?

I remember as a child, my mom saying to me, “You keep making that face and it will get stuck that way.” Boy, did I change it up quickly.

How do we keep our joy and be merry when things like this come along? God’s word says there is a time to mourn. But we must reach a point where we allow ourselves to be comforted. We cannot stay mourning over situations forever.

Matthew 5:4 (NKJV) 4 Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.

Our hearts much reach a place where we can laugh again and enjoy the blessings of the Lord, family, friends, nature and life itself, etc.

Some people’s faces have been stuck for too long now and they need to change it up.

It won’t be easy at first. And in some situations we may even feel guilty to laugh, rejoice or be happy again. But know that God wants us to be comforted. He wants us to be able to smile and laugh again. He wants us to be able to rejoice.

Job 8:21 (NKJV) 21 He will yet fill your mouth with laughing, And your lips with rejoicing.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-19-18

Psalm 30:5 (NKJV) 5 …Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.

Are you weeping, going through a trial or a dark season in your life?

Are you wrestling with something that’s trying to take you down or knock you backwards?

Do you feel like you take two steps forward and three steps back?

This happens to all of us at times. And yes, sometimes it can make us feel like we’re completely in the dark. Sometimes it can even make us feel like we’ve been abandoned and God doesn’t even hear our cries.

But, this is not the case. It’s the farthest thing from the truth!

No season and no trial lasts forever. Each one is different, and each one endures for different periods of time.

But one thing is for sure; Joy will come!

It may not always come when we think it should. It might not come how we think it should. But if our trust is in God, joy will come with our victory.

We need to hold fast to God and His promises at all times, especially during times of darkness and weeping. Our trust needs to be in Him alone!

And in due time, when He knows it’s right, He will bring the darkness to an end, the sun will shine and our tears will be dried. Amen!

Praise Him even in the darkness. Light is coming soon.
