Bible Verse of The Day – 10-19-17

Matthew 13:8 (NKJV) 8 But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. 9 He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

Today we’ll look at the last of the different types of seeds that Jesus taught about in the parable of the sower and the seeds.

This last bunch of seeds fell on good ground.

This means that when they heard the word of God, they received it and held it close to their hearts. They treasured it and did whatever it took to protect it, nurture it and make it grow.

And, in turn, those seeds went on to bear much fruit. Some a hundredfold, some sixty and some thirty.

Think about that. A hundredfold return on one seed. Or even sixty or thirtyfold. Those are extremely high returns!

These hearts took the word of God seriously and not only nurtured it in their own lives, but also helped to share it with others.

They saw it as being so important that they diligently worked to make it multiply, in their own lives and in the lives of those around them.

Luke 8:15 (NKJV) 15 But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.

But did you notice that last word or two? With patience.

They took their time. They gave it the proper time and attention needed to bring it to fruition. And, in return, they didn’t just get a return, they saw a huge harvest.

Patience is critical. We need to not be in such a hurry all the time. Remember that those who were in a hurry lost their faith because the cares of the world and the pursuit of riches choked it out and caused it to die.

Treasure God’s word. Cherish it. Protect it and hold it close to your heart.

And you will reap a harvest, in your own life, and for the kingdom of God, a hundredfold, sixtyfold or thirtyfold.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-18-17

Matthew 13:7 (NKJV) 7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them.

As the sower continued to sow his seeds, there were some that fell on thorny ground.

The thorns in this verse represent the cares of this world, and the worldly riches that so many of us spend our lives seeking desperately after.

Sadly, there are very many people who fall into this category. The world will offer us so much to hold our time and attention.

Careers, hobbies, personal vanity, material possessions, bigger homes, luxurious cars and a huge list of other things.

We can dawdle away our lives in search of these things, and if we’re not careful, our love for God gets pushed to the back burner. And before we know it, that love starts to falter and grow weaker.

Soon, if we’re not careful, that flame will smolder and go out. And we will have traded our destiny for wealth, material things and the attention of others.

We can’t stress enough how important it is to guard our hearts and make God’s treasures our own.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-17-17

Matthew 13:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth. 6 But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away.

As the sower continued to sow his seeds, some of them fell on stony ground.

Stony ground has very little dirt. There is some, but not enough to support healthy growth or longevity.

Seeds sown on stony ground will typically spring up quickly, since they don’t get buried very deep in the dirt. But as the sun hits them, they also dry up and whither very quickly. And as quickly as they sprang to life, they die.

They live a very short life and bear no fruit.

Such is the word of God when it is heard and received by some. They immediately embrace it, and are full of joy! But they have no root and it only lasts for a while.

When they face trials and persecution because of the word, they immediately stumble.

It’s so important that we take His word seriously. We need to absorb it and get it embedded deeply within us. And as we do this, it is protected and will sustain us through everything we face in life.

We will continue tomorrow. As always, embrace His word and hold it deep in your hearts. His word is life!

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-16-17

Matthew 13:1-3 (NKJV) 1 On the same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the sea. 2 And great multitudes were gathered together to Him, so that He got into a boat and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore. 3 Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying: “Behold, a sower went out to sow.

The parable of the sower and the seeds has a lot of valuable lessons for each of us.

During the next few days we will cover each of the various scenarios that Jesus talked about regarding where the seeds fell and whether they grew or not.

So, let’s start off with Matthew 13:4.

Matthew 13:4 (NKJV) 4 And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them.

Jesus went on to explain that the seeds being spread by the sower represent the word of God being shared with those who don’t know Him.

As His message of love and hope is shared, the “seeds” fall on various kinds of ground.

In verse 4, the seeds fell by the wayside. And they never stood a chance to grow at all because they were immediately devoured by birds.

The seeds, in this case, represent the Word that is shared in a way that can’t be understood by the ones hearing it. And because it can’t be understood, it bears no fruit at all.

The enemy immediately comes and steals it before it can take root and grow in their hearts.

It’s important that, as we share God’s word with others who don’t know Him, we listen to and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. He will guide us as to what to say and how to say it.

And as we heed His instructions, He will give us the right words to speak at the right time. And those words will be like seeds sown in fertile ground, yielding a harvest for the kingdom of God.

More on this tomorrow!

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-28-17

2 Timothy 2:15 (NKJV) 15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

God wants us to be diligent in our walk with Him so we can get His approval.

What does that mean and how do we do that? Let’s take a look.

First, we need to be studying His word. This is the only way we can learn about and get a better understanding of who He wants us to be.

Through it, we will also gain a better understanding of Him. And this will lead to a better, stronger relationship with Him.

And as we go through life and its trials, we will learn how to walk in victory, living and walking by God’s spirit. We will not be ashamed because we will learn to let Him lead us through everything we face.

And as we study and walk out His word, we will gain valuable insight as to the truth of it. That truth will give us a strong spirit and better understanding of spiritual things. In turn, we will have better discernment of the many things we encounter in everyday life.

This spells victory for us on a daily basis.

Studying His word isn’t just for “Bible scholars”. It’s for every believer, regardless of age, level of education or any other factor.

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-12-17

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

I had a vision of a knight sitting on a white horse. He was holding a sword.

Across from him stood a black beast that looked similar to a bull/ox. Sitting on him was a creature in full armor. He also carried a sword, but his sword seemed huge, with a lot of blades coming off it. The beastly looking creature threatened the knight, saying with a loud voice, “You will die!”.

The knight on the white horse took two steps back and dashed at the beast, with his sword drawn. He leapt in the air, over the top of the beast. As he was over the beast, he took his sword and stuck it down through the top of the creature, penetrating right through to the bull/ox, leaving them both dead.

The knight got down off his horse, cut of the head of the creature, putting his foot on the bull/ox. In one hand, he held up the head of the creature and in the other hand he held up his sword.

God showed me that the black creature and his ride were symbolic of sin and how it can be very intimidating, threatening and seem impossible to overcome.

But the sword that the knight carried was symbolic of the WORD of God. And if we choose His word and choose what is right over that which is wrong, that is how quickly we can destroy sin and have victory over it!!

Let the word of God help us to defeat sin. Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-31-16

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The word of God can help us in our daily walk. It is alive!

As we read God’s word, He will direct our steps and show us what to do and what not to do at different times.

The word of God is sharper than any two – edged sword. Now that’s pretty sharp!

But it has to be. It has to reach those areas in us. And sometimes it needs to go deep to get our attention. It has to reach those places that are hidden, that if not removed completely can cause us to backslide or fall at times.

The word of God is a discerner of thoughts and intents of the heart. God knows us better than we will ever know ourselves. We can be sure of this.

He can change those things in us that we dislike and that don’t bring honor to Him; those things that get us in trouble. But only if we let Him shine a light on those areas. He will show us how to get free and stay free.

God’s WORD is what we need every day. Just a little will go a long way.

Take His word to heart and let it live through us! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-28-16

Psalm 119:105 (NKJV) 105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

His word. It’s more than most people, even believers, realize.

His word is life to dead spirits. It quickens them… breathes new life into them.

His word is sustenance for the living. Without it, we would wither and die. But with it, we can live life to the fullest, growing in our relationship with Him and flourishing in it.

God’s word is the light that guides our feet as we walk the path of life. It shows us where to step when it seems like we can’t see anything but darkness in front of us.

His word causes us to rise up when we fall. It gives us new hope where there seems to be none. It lights a flame within us where there was none.

His word is everything we need in life. We can have every possible material thing. We can even claim to follow God. But without His word, we are empty and lifeless.

John 17:17 (NKJV) 17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.

Without His word we will wander, without direction, longing for something, anything, to make us feel alive again.

God’s word is everything. There is nothing that can take its place.

So if you’re feeling empty or lifeless today, don’t reach for your phone. Don’t turn on the TV. Don’t spend time playing another computer or video game.

Don’t reach out to a friend or acquaintance, looking for someone to talk to. Reach for His word.

Drink it in. Devour it. Eat, sleep and breathe His word. Let it revive you, resuscitate you and energize you!

Spend time in His word, learning of God and gaining wisdom and understanding. Do this, and your life will never lack meaning or purpose.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-19-16

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The day I opened my very own Bible and began to read God’s word, I felt God’s personal touch. I had been saved when I was a child and spent a lot of years in church. The Church taught me many things. But I seemed to have been missing an important part.

I would wait until the doors opened, Wed. or Sunday, etc., to get God’s word for me. I relied on my Pastors to feed me. But it’s not all up to the Pastor.

Pastors need us at times. They need our prayers just as much as we need them and theirs. They are people with a big responsibility and they need a healthy congregation to join them in the vision and the call that God has given them.

One of the things I learned is that I spent more time on my own than in Church. Out of a 7 day week, 2 days maybe in Church, but not always. Sometimes just once. And sometimes not even that. Try feeding our natural bodies once or twice a week, or nothing at all, and see where that gets us.

I’ll tell you where it gets me. Hungry, tired, and WEAK. That’s what I was and it was NOT my Pastor’s fault. It was my own.

Just as our natural bodies need to be fed daily to remain balanced, healthy and strong, our spirit man needs the same. And I needed to learn how to get God on my own, when NO Pastors were around.

We are in a battle every day. This battle doesn’t stop and wait for us until Wed night or Sunday morning so we can get our answer from the pulpit. No! The battle keeps on and if we don’t know what to do, we lose ground. We get pushed back and if we get pushed back far enough, we can lose everything.

Do we feel like we are in that place today? Are we losing ground instead of gaining? Is our Spirit man famished, because of lack of food?

Taking time and reading God’s word daily will fill that emptiness. We will get strong. We will win battles, and have a more personal, one on ONE walk with HIM!

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-22-16

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The Word of God.

It’s our instruction manual for life. It’s God’s words of life to us. It lives and breathes. It gives us life.

It corrects us when we’re wrong. It encourages us when we’re down. It shows us the path of life.

It’s our food. It sustains us. It brings healing to sick bodies and broken spirits.

It’s a light in a dark world. It’s never-changing and forever true.

God’s word is essential for us to live and breathe as a follower of Christ.

We need to ingest it. We need to live by it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-19-15

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Living and powerful. Those are the perfect words to describe God’s Word.

God’s Word is more than just printed text on paper pages.

His word isn’t something that we just read. We need to breathe it in, like oxygen. We need to consume it like food that sustains us, for that’s what it is; our sustenance.

It’s nourishment to our souls, water to our parched spirits, strength for the weary and new life to our dry bones.

No matter what we’re facing, God’s word can lift us up and breathe new life into our tired being and give us a new perspective.

There’s a reason why His word, the Bible, has endured all of these centuries, through thousands and thousands of wars across the globe, through terrible tyrannic governments that tried so hard to destroy it and wipe it from the face of the earth, through famines and desolation across many nations.

His word is alive! It is powerful!

So we encourage you today to immerse yourself in it. Soak it in and let Him speak to you through it. Don’t read it with a motive. Just let it penetrate you. Then, when you do this, you will begin to understand what it means when the scripture says that the word of God is living and powerful!
