Bible Verse of The Day – 4-3-12

(Mat 15:18-19 NKJV)  “But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. {19} “For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.

In its original context, this verse goes on to explain that eating with unwashed hands does not defile a man or make him unclean.

Jesus used this example to teach us that what’s in our hearts is what defiles us, not whether we have washed our hands or not.

He also used it to teach us that what’s inside of us will eventually make its way out of our mouths.

Have you ever caught yourself saying something that was contrary to what you know God would want you to say? Maybe you used some language that you know in your heart was not pleasing to God. Or maybe you lashed out at someone in anger, and then regretted it later on.

We all make these mistakes at times. The important thing is that we learn from them.

First, we need to learn self control. But more importantly, we need to understand that this is showing us who we really are inside; what’s hiding there in the darkest recesses of our heart.

This isn’t something that we should beat ourselves up about, but something that we need to go to God with and ask Him to take those things out of our heart and replace them with His love, grace, mercy and compassion.

God is the best surgeon there is when it comes to fixing hearts!

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-2-12

(Heb 4:16 NKJV)  Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Have you ever made a mistake? Of course, we all have.

Have you ever been told that you have made mistakes that are too big to be forgiven for? I think most of us can also say that this is true… that we have all been told this or we have felt like this at some point in time.

Well, let me tell you today that this is a lie straight from hell. There is nothing that we can do that God can’t forgive us for if we sincerely repent and ask Him to forgive us.

His word tells us that we can come boldly to the throne of Grace, where we can obtain mercy and grace to help us in times of need.

How much more can we ask for?

If you’re struggling with feeling like God has forsaken you or that you’ve let Him down, go to Him. Repent for anything you might have done and ask Him to forgive you. And then trust that you are forgiven, because His word says so.

Walk in His peace and joy today, knowing that you are abundantly blessed.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-15-12

(Rom 8:1 NKJV)  There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

There is no condemnation for those in Christ. Period.

Way too many believers live under condemnation of some sort. Some of it comes from guilt about things from the past. Some of it comes from judgment from other people in the body of Christ. And sometimes it even comes from our spiritual leaders.

None of us should ever feel condemned. Jesus took all of our condemnation on the cross and put it to death there, once and for all.

God will convict us when we’re out of line, but He will NEVER condemn us.

If you’re feeling weighed down with guilt or condemnation today, take a good look at why this is happening. Do you have unconfessed and unforgiven sin in your life that’s making you feel guilty? Are you being judged unjustly by your peers or your leaders?

If this condemnation is coming from others, it might be time to find some new people to spend time with.

Jesus hung guilt and condemnation on the cross and defeated it permanently, so there is no need for us to still be carrying it around. Lay it to rest right now, in the name of Jesus!

Your Daily Bible Verse – 2-13-12

(Lam 3:22-23 NKJV)  Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. {23} They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.

God’s mercies are new every morning!!

Do you know what that means for us? Every is a new day with God, fresh and clean, with none of yesterday’s sins staring us in the face!

We’ve talked about this verse before, but we still like to touch on it every once in a while. It’s a reminder for all of us and maybe as a new lesson for anyone who is new to the Daily Bible Verse.

Here’s the little illustration that we like to use: Each day is like a new, clean, white sheet of paper. At the end of the day, what’s on that sheet of paper is up to us. It can be full of good things or it can be full of bad things, or even a combination of both. We are responsible for the story that’s written on that piece of paper each day.

But every single morning, God gives us a brand new sheet of paper, to give us a new chance! No matter what we did yesterday, today is a brand new day, with His mercy covering our lives.

No matter what mistakes you made yesterday, ask God to forgive you and then move forward, looking forward to what He has for you today.

Your Daily Bible Verse – 2-7-12

(Mat 18:21-22 NKJV) Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” {22} Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.

OUCH!  In other words there is NO room in our hearts for harboring unforgiveness.

We can’t take this lightly. It is something that God points out very clearly. (Luke 6:37 NKJV)  “Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

I don’t think we realize the danger in not forgiving someone. (Mat 18:34-35 NKJV) “And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. {35} “So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.”

One day,  I was counseling someone, this person drank and drank to hide her pain that she had in her heart. I asked her one time during one of our talks if she wanted to pray. She said “I don’t know how to pray”. I said it’s easy, just like you’re talking to me now, you can talk to God. So she began telling God how she felt, and the more she talked, it all came out; every little feeling she had came out.

She was suffering deep inside from something terrible her very own brother did to her as a child. It was something no one knew about but her. She carried this for years. But on this day, she spilled it out and left it with God!

She forgave her brother for what he did to her, as hard as it was, and from that day she was on a better road. Praise be to God, she forgave and her life was changed after that. There were better days ahead for her!!

The longer we hold onto unforgiveness, the more space it takes up in our heart. God wants our whole heart!!

Your Daily Bible Verse – 1-27-12

(1 John 4:10-11 NKJV)  In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. {11} Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

We ought to love one another. It sounds so simple and easy to do. But it can be a hard thing to love people sometimes.

This verse is referring specifically to loving fellow believers. We have something in common with all believers; that is the love of Christ and the forgiveness we have been granted by God, through Jesus Christ.

But sometimes our flesh comes out and we rub each other the wrong way. Sometimes we stick our noses where they don’t belong and say things that hurt each other.

All of this shows how frail we are as humans. We set aside the love of God and allow ourselves to insult each other, fight against each other and even hate each other.

It’s time for us to lay down the bitterness and the strife. I will be the first to admit that it’s not an easy thing to do, but God has told us to do so. Start right now, where you are, and ask God to perfect this work in you.

We can do it in His strength.

Your Daily Bible Verse – 1-16-12

(Psa 130:3-4 NKJV)  If You, LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? {4} But there is forgiveness with You, That You may be feared.

I’m not sure why, but I really felt led to do a teaching on forgiveness today. But not just a teaching on forgiveness in a general sense… something specific, to show that there is forgiveness to be partaken of.

Some people really wrestle with being forgiven for the things that they’ve done wrong in their lives.

We have all done foolish things and made very poor choices, causing others to be hurt by our mistakes and poor decisions. As we see the results of our sin and begin to repent, we often struggle with being forgiven by those that we have hurt and by God.

Many times we are ashamed of what we’ve done, and rightly so. But it’s never, ever too late to make things right and start fresh. Every day is a new day with God and a new opportunity to put our past behind us.

Before we can start fresh, we need to fully understand that forgiveness is ours, if we would only ask for it. God offers forgiveness to anyone who will ask. He does not look at us and compare us to someone else to see if we’ve done something worse than them or not. God’s word says that he is not partial toward one person over another (Acts 10:34, James 2:1-12).

This assures us that if we come to God and ask Him to forgive us, He will! So if you’re struggling with being forgiven (and feeling forgiven) today, stop struggling! Let go of your mistakes and move forward. Know in your heart that forgives is yours if you simply ask for it.

Be forgiven today, in the name of Jesus, and let your soul be at peace.
