Bible Verse of The Day – 1-6-20

Luke 17:5 (NKJV) 5 And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.”

In the verse above, the Apostles asked Jesus for more faith so they could walk out the things He was speaking to them about.

Jesus looked at them and flat out ignored their request. Why?

Because, as He told them in the next verse, they didn’t need more faith! They just needed to exercise the faith they already had.

Jesus went on to tell them that if they had faith even as small as a mustard seed that they could do great things!

Luke 17:6 (NKJV) 6 So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.

You see, so many of us ask God to give us more faith. But it’s not more faith that we need. We need to learn to walk in the faith that God has given us. We need to grow closer to God so that the faith He has given us will grow stronger in Him.

Some might go so far as to say that they have no faith. But that’s a misconception or a lack of understanding on their part, because the word of God tells us that we have each been given a “measure of faith”.

Romans 12:3 (NKJV) 3 For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

This means that not a single one of us lacks faith. We just might not know how to use that faith yet. But as we press in to God, He will teach us and show us, as He leads us to do the things He wants us to do.

Remember Peter, who actually walked on the water? He did that with the measure of faith that he had been given, not with some massive burst of faith that was suddenly given to him.

He simply had to obey what Jesus told him to do when He called him to step out of the boat onto the water.

At that split second, he was probably experiencing many things, but he ignored any doubts he had and walked on the water. It was only when he began to think about what he was doing that he began to sink.

So it is with us. It’s important that we get so close to God that when He speaks, we don’t hesitate or try to figure it out in our heads. We just simply listen and then do what He asks of us.

That doesn’t happen overnight. But as we grow closer to Him, it happens a little at a time.

And before we know it, we will be stretching and growing our “measure of faith”, doing the things that God asks us to do with no hesitation at all.

Please click to watch the video now.Greetings in the name of Jesus.

Our newest video, The Increase, is live and ready for you to watch it!

In today’s video, we discuss when Jesus rejected the disciples’ request for Him to give them more faith.

The fact that Jesus told them “no” is a bit shocking to some, but we think this new video will help make sense of it, so we hope you’ll take a few minutes and watch it.

Please click here to watch it now.

Enjoy your day and keep pressing in to God.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-1-19

Hebrews 11:8 (NKJV) 8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.

It’s very important to know and understand that Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out. Being called to go out is different than just taking a “step of faith” because we want to or we feel like we need to.

If we are called and we take the steps we know God is asking us to take by faith, all will work out according to His plan. There is no doubt. We say this with all confidence in Him.

But, if we are not called and we take a “step of faith” because we want something in return, that is not the same. And we can fall miserably on our faces and lose everything.

Be sure to obey God when we are called to take a step of faith.  We can’t just do what we want and call it “a step of faith”.

So many Christians today are in trouble because they stepped out in this so-called faith. They have nothing and no one to back them up.

It’s a problem within the body of Christ, and unbelievers are seeing it and running far from it.

How do we get back on track with God?

By acknowledging we were wrong and the steps that we took were nothing more than our own desires, wants, and ambitions.

Admit it and repent for it, asking Him to have mercy.

Psalm 51:1 (NKJV) 1 Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness; According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions.

We need to ask God to help us get back on track with Him. It’s not hard. And if we are sincere, God will meet us on that road and show us the way home. Amen.

Psalm 34:17 (NKJV) 17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-17-19

James 2:20 (NKJV) 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?

Faith without works. What exactly is James referring to here?

Most times we hear this expounded on with regard to helping others. And while this is accurate, there is also another side to this that James mentions, but we rarely hear about.

Most times we think of and refer to works as something we do for others. We help them, we support them in prayer. We encourage them. We may even give them things.

But what else was James referring to when he was inspired by the Holy Spirit to write this?

He was referring to the things we do for God, in obedience to His spirit.

James 2:21 (NKJV) 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar?

You see, we can display our faith by helping others. And we should do this.

But if we fail to follow God’s leading in the areas where He requires something of us, then our faith isn’t really as strong as we might think, is it?

Obviously, God doesn’t ask us to sacrifice our children on an altar. But He may ask us to make other kinds of sacrifices, such as financial sacrifices, sacrifices of our time, or even sacrifices of our will.

And even though we may be happy to surrender ourselves by way of helping others, are we willing to sacrifice ourselves when God asks us to step out and follow Him in other ways that might not be as easy or straight-forward?

Abraham was. And his faith to do so was credited to him as righteousness. And he was called a friend of God.

James 2:22-23 (NKJV) 22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-15-19

Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV) 1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

We must understand that having faith does not always stop things from coming against us. We will still have trials and tribulations. However, faith is what will get us through those hard and trying seasons.

If we are going through one now, our faith will get us past it. If someone we know is going through something, then their faith will get them through it.

If they don’t have much faith, and we get behind them with our faith, what does it do? It makes a stronger faith. And with our faith working together, we get to see it through.

Many times, God will use His children to help someone through a trial. Sometimes it takes a while to see any results. Other times it may be quick and painless.

And then there are times when we may be in their lives for a short time and then out again

It’s so important we stand with them for the time needed to help them through.

No matter what we or someone else may be going through, faith WILL get us past this season. If we don’t stop believing, we stand firm and take the steps put in front of us, we will come out on the other side.

We have seen many situations change for people. Some problems were bigger than others. Some seemed like they lasted forever. But, all of these people had things in common, and their faith grew during those times.

Their closeness with God became more evident. They matured in their walk with Him.

When things come against us, we tend to start worrying right away, and we automatically think, “Oh no, we are going to lose something.”

But, if we remember that we have a Mighty God that is for us, then nothing will stop us from moving forward and walking in victory, even in trying seasons.

Faith is our answer today! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-10-19

Romans 4:13 (NKJV) 13 For the promise that he would be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

God has had me doing a lot of reading and studying lately regarding the law vs. justification by faith.

During this time, He has shown me over and over again how important it is to understand the difference.

The law never justified anyone. The law only shows us how lost and sinful we are. Trying to follow the law never saved anyone from their sins. It only helps us to live more closely to the way God wants us to live. In the end, though, if all we have done is follow the law and tried to live a “good” life, we still die, lost in our sins.

Abraham was a groundbreaker. God had him do many things that were ahead of his time. Abraham did those things by faith, not knowing how it would turn out.

He trusted God.

And in the end, his faith was credited to him as righteousness.

Galatians 3:6 (NKJV) 6 just as Abraham “believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”

It’s important that we remember that Abraham lived long before the law was ever established. So, when he did what he did, it wasn’t because he felt obligated by statutes and regulations.

He did these things because he had faith that God would do exactly what He said He would do.

In these days of living under God’s grace, how much more should we be willing to trust God and walk out the things He has for us to do?

Romans 1:17 (NKJV) 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-10-19

Job 19:25 (NKJV) 25 For I know that my Redeemer lives, And He shall stand at last on the earth;

Job was in the midst of misery.

His skin was diseased. His family was gone. His friends had deserted him. Even his wife insulted him.

As Job penned the words above, he was writing down all of his sorrows and making an account of all who despised him or who had left him.

His life was in shambles. He had been struck with boils all over his body. He had lost his children and all of his livestock. Nobody expected him to live through the ordeal.

But even as he wrote down all of his calamities, he penned those words, “I know that my Redeemer lives”.

What a testament to Job’s faith!

Many years ago, God showed me that despite so many people always talking about the patience of Job, it was his faith that was greater. And it was that faith that allowed him to be patient in his affliction and endure his terrible situation without giving up and cursing God.

Let’s have the faith of Job, even as we endure afflictions, looking to our Redeemer, who lives!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-5-19 – Growing Strong Faith – Part 3

Please click to watch the video now.Greetings in the name of Jesus!

Strong faith is a popular topic these days. We hear about faith in many places, even outside of the church.

No matter how we look at it, faith seems to be important to a lot of people.

Faith is obviously important in our walk with God. But how do we view faith? What does it mean to us to have strong faith?

In today’s video, Growing Strong Faith – Part 3, we conclude our series with a discussion on why some people have such strong faith.

We cover a lot of interesting discussion on this aspect of our faith as we wrap this one up.

We do hope you’ll take the time to watch this one.

Enjoy your day.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-30-19

Hebrews 3:14 (NKJV) 14 For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end,

Having faith is not for just a moment. It is throughout our entire walk. It is for us to have, breathe and walk in daily.

Knowing that what God says is true, His entire word, and then walking in it, is being steadfast and confident to the end.

Faith can be fragile sometimes. This is evident when trials come and we begin to falter because of it. This happens if we are not staying in God’s word or sticking close to Him through prayer.

Faith can get lost in the hustle and bustle of life and it can cause us to become hard, as we step out of God’s call or plan for us.

Hardness will often come as a result of sin in our lives. As we step away from God, sin is more easily embraced because the conviction of the Holy Spirit isn’t as strong as when we are close to Him.

There is protection when we stay close to God; A sharper discernment and a quick resistance to sin.

There is a provision that happens when we continue to walk in faith, believing Him for things we could never do through our own natural ability.

As believers, the closer we walk with Him, the more we will step out in faith and do what God is saying to do. And the more we will grow and become confident in God. We will learn about timing, and how to wait on answers He may have for us.

We won’t grow in our confidence if we don’t get closer or take steps that He has asked us to take. We will remain a baby in our faith, and if we are not careful our faith can get lost through the many different challenges we face.

Keep steadfast in our faith. Always be looking to God for the answers to our situation. And if it is bigger than we could imagine, keep looking to Him to deliver. Don’t give up, thinking we will never get through it.

Believing and knowing that God will do what He says He will do for us keeps our faith in Him strong and our confidence going to the end. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-28-19 – Growing Strong Faith – Part 2

Greetings in the wonderful name of Jesus!

How do we grow strong faith?

This is the question we asked last week in our first video of a three-part series, Growing Strong Faith.

Today we bring you part two, where we talk about why some people never grow strong faith. This is pretty eye-opening, so be sure to take a few minutes and give it a watch.

Keep your walk with God strong!

Sincerely,

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-26-19

Romans 10:17 (NKJV) 17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Have you ever noticed that some people have very strong faith? And yet others have very weak faith, or very little faith at all.

Why is that, anyway?

Well, it’s mostly because some people have come to understand how to grow their faith, while others have never been taught or have never desired it.

But here’s the key that so many people miss; strong faith is not gained by asking for it. It is gained by maturing into it.

And, really, the truth is that having strong faith doesn’t happen because we pursue stronger faith. It comes because we have a strong relationship with God. Strong faith is a byproduct of a strong walk with God.

So, if we’re desiring strong faith, we need to refocus our time and energy away from pursuing faith and toward pursuing God. And as our walk with God grows, so does our faith. In essence, faith is really just trust in God.

As our trust in God grows, our faith will grow accordingly. And the funny thing is that we may not even recognize that our faith has grown until we start looking back at things that God has had us do, or when we see how we have reacted to certain situations and circumstances.

Then it hits us and we see it more clearly.

How do we reach a point where we trust God so much that our faith in Him is strong? By devouring His word. Remember, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

In other words, our faith grows as we hear, learn and understand the word of God and the message of Christ.

So it’s up to us to put forth the effort. It’s up to us to take the bull by the horns and press in to God, draw near to Him, seek Him with our whole heart.

As we make the effort, God gives the increase.
