Category: Dealing With Changing Circumstances

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-5-23

Exodus 16:3 (NKJV) 3 And the children of Israel said to them, “Oh, that we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat and when we ate bread to the full! For you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”

In our lifetimes, we will face challenges and changes that will be uncomfortable. It’s just a normal part of life.

Change is something that comes to us all in one way or another.

Sometimes that change comes in the form of some kind of loss.

Other times it may involve moving from a place that we’re intimately familiar with to a place we’ve never been, and we feel like a foreigner in a land where we know nothing.

There are many other ways that life can change as well.

When changes do come, it can really mess us up if we’re not walking closely with God and letting Him guide us through those changes.

Sometimes we long to go back to the period in our life before those changes came and made us feel like we had the wind knocked out of us.

The Israelites did this when they cursed Moses for leading them out of Egypt, as they cried for meat and bread to eat while longing for something familiar to hold onto.

They were actually willing to go back to being slaves in exchange for what they were familiar with.

Our human nature leads us to believe that going back will bring comfort.

In reality, it will do the opposite.

If we do try to go back, we will only feel more lost. And those lost feelings will make us feel more distant from God. We will usually also feel disappointed when we realize what we’ve done; turning from God’s path to pursue comfort instead of obedience.

This is why it’s critical for us to stay close to God, listening intently for His voice.

We need to heed His instructions and let Him walk us through each new thing, one step at a time.

Even though our minds may be racing with stress and anxiety, He will comfort us if we let Him.

And as we surrender our will to submit to His will, He will bring peace that will surpass our human understanding, allowing us to embrace the change and stop looking back.

Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV) 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-22-19

Nehemiah 8:10 (NKJV) 10 Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

Have we ever noticed that when we face a crossroad and don’t know what moves or steps to take, we can tend to get miserable, angry and even frustrated?

We can completely relate to this. Remaining balanced when change is approaching is crucial.

We will be seeking God and discerning at all times. It can be exhausting. But if we keep the right attitude it will all unfold and we will be happy we stuck it out and took the necessary steps .

Don’t let the frustration of not knowing every detail defeat you. Trust God and enjoy the ride. This is not a race, so don’t try to get ahead of God with our plans. We will get there when and how God says to.

Stay focused, lose the attitude and keep the joy! We will finish strong. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-13-18

John 14:27 (NKJV) 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Walking in peace is something we all want to do. Sometimes it’s really easy. Things are going great and we feel peaceful and rested. Life is good! Amen.

But, there are times when things may get stirred up a bit. Things change, and it doesn’t take much before we begin to feel the heaviness that change can sometimes bring.

Life is going to come with some bumps in the road, some hurdles to get over, and its ups and downs. Everyone will face them at times.

We have to remember that even during those times, we can walk in peace. We just need to understand that “we are not alone.” We have Someone standing with us who is willing to help us carry the load and help us make the necessary adjustments. He will give us a shoulder we can rest our weary heads on.

Today, if you are in a season of change, don’t try to stand alone. We will lose our peace if we try to do it alone. Reach out and let God fill in the blanks with His direction.

We love you and our prayers are with you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-22-17

Isaiah 43:18-19 (NKJV) 18 “Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. 19 Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.

Are we so busy trying to hang on to the past that we are missing out on today? This is a question we have to ask ourselves every so often. Why? Because we will have times in our lives that will stand out greater than others and we will want those times to stick around and stay forever. We want them to last.

But by living in the past, we stop ourselves from moving forward. When we do this, we are only going to hurt ourselves. It won’t bring anything back to the way that it was.

If we want to fix this problem, the first step we need to take is to recognize and accept the change that took place. Maybe it wasn’t a good change. Maybe it wasn’t necessarily something that should have happened. But, whatever it was, we need to face the fact that it did happen and things are different than they were.

The second thing we will have to do is begin to live with it by making the necessary adjustments. Don’t try to keep things the same way. Don’t keep going over it in our minds, thinking that maybe if we did this or maybe if we did that it could have changed things and the outcome would have been better. No. Just accept it. It is what it is now and all of the thinking and wondering won’t make it go back to the way it was.

The third and last thing is not to feel bad or guilty after the change, especially if we are enjoying our life. There is nothing wrong with enjoying our life, even after something has happened that may have caused us to be sad initially. Enjoying our life is a sure sign that we have moved on and adjusted well.

Let go of the past and move forward. There is so much more out there for each one of us if we will stop looking back and start looking forward.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-15-17

Romans 8:28 (NKJV) 28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Way too often this verse is quoted when someone goes through a tragedy or a terrible loss of some kind.

But, this verse is about more than just tragic situations. It applies to every situation in our lives.

Sometimes we go through things that might look bad on the surface, but really aren’t so bad if we let God show us what’s really going on.

I remember, many years ago, when the factory I had worked at for almost 13 years announced that they were closing up. I was devastated initially. I had a family to support and I had no idea how I would do that with my job disappearing.

But, what saw as a terrible thing, God used as an opportunity to help me move up.

By His hand, God used that situation to allow me to go back to school at 36 years old and get certifications in various types of computer networking and server management. That opened the doors for me to move into the I.T. field, where I worked for the next 7-10 years.

From there, God used that as a stepping stone for us to move in to ministry, using computers and the internet to reach out to people around the world to share His word and teach His life-changing truths.

Little did I know, when I felt so betrayed by my former employer, that I would eventually have God as my new employer and CEO!

So, if you see things changing in your life, and it looks like things are on the downturn, don’t give up hope and don’t lose faith.

God can take those things that scare us and cause us to pull back in fear and turn them into something very good.

Trust Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-14-15

Psalm 37:25 (NKJV) 25 I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendants begging bread.

Have we ever been in a place where we just don’t know what to do? Everything seems to be turned upside down. We feel very overwhelmed and hoping God will show up and fix it all.

This is called being at a crossroad. It’s a place where we have to make a decision and it always seems like we need to make a quick one. But, that feeling of doing anything quick is just the pressure from our circumstances, or fear of not knowing what to do.

There is nothing wrong with not knowing what to do immediately when change hits us. Give it some time to work its way out. Decisions made in haste are never good.

God will never forsake the righteous. We need to stay calm and wait on Him to provide the answer or to open the door for us to walk through.
