Bible Verse of The Day – 1-2-23

Matthew 7:24-25 (NKJV) 24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

Change is something that we all must learn how to deal with. It’s part of life.

In fact, life is really nothing more than a constant cycle of change.

Sometimes the changes happen over time, very subtly. And these kinds of changes tend to go unnoticed because of the subtle way they happen.

Other times, change comes suddenly or in ways that are very big. When this happens, we can’t help but notice it.

These big or sudden changes are the ones that test our faith and trust in God.

You see, when we’re experiencing the smaller changes, it doesn’t require much effort on our part to adjust to them. They just kind of happen, and we flow with it.

But when the bigger changes come, how do we react? How do we handle them?

If we are to handle the bigger changes without getting knocked down by them, our roots need to run deep. Our trust in God must be strong enough to bring us through the change without us being taken out by what we face.

Think of it like a large tree. Some trees grow for years, maybe even for decades, without deep roots. And somehow, they manage to make it to maturity without being knocked over by a storm.

But one day, when a strong storm comes, and its shallow roots are weak and tired from other lesser storms that it has endured, the tree comes tumbling down because those roots just couldn’t handle one more storm.

The wind simply knocks it over, it crashes to the ground, and it dies.

We need to make sure we do what it takes to grow deep roots in the faith that we have in God.

We need to make the effort to grow those roots as deep as possible.

This requires us to spend time in God’s word daily. It requires that we spend time communing with Him. And it requires that we learn to listen for His voice, being careful not to miss it when He speaks to us.

So, when the storms do come, if our roots are deep, we won’t be like the tree that we see laying on its side after a storm. We will be like the house that Jesus mentioned, upon which the winds blew, that weathered the storm and was still standing.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-15-20

Joshua 1:9 (NKJV) 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

We are all feeling the pain of where we are right now in this world.

It has changed!

Things are different, and we know it.

It’s not going back to the way things were. We are in a new day, a new season, and we need to let go of the way things used to be, moving forward in the way things are today.

We have to leave behind those things that once were. It’s over and done with, and now we need to find peace and rest in the place where we are heading.

If we continue to look back, church, that is where we will remain.

Keep looking forward. Keep pressing in. Don’t get stuck in the way things used to be.

We are all together in this, and we need to stand united. Find the joy again. Be strong and of good courage.

God is in control He is holding the torch.

Forward, March!

Nehemiah 8:10 (NKJV) 10 Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

Find our joy in the LORD Today!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-12-19

Deuteronomy 31:8 (NKJV) 8 And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”

Change can be exhausting. It can be fun. It can be sad. It can be exciting. But the most important thing it can be when following God is very fulfilling and peaceful. That’s how we know it’s God’s change.

Why do we get so nervous when change comes, even though we may actually want it? Because we want to be the ones to initiate it and determine how it will come.

If there is one little bit of something unknown to us, our minds go into troubleshooting mode. And we’d better get ready, because what happens after that? Exhaustion.

Exhaustion kicks in when our minds try to figure out God’s plan or the change He wants to usher in.

To save us from getting exhausted and cranky, don’t go there. Don’t try to figure it out, because it won’t happen.

God will guide our steps, open doors, close doors and do whatever else is necessary to get us where He wants us to be. We don’t have to wear ourselves out trying to figure it all out. Just move when He says to. He goes before us and prepares the way.

We have His Word. Hold fast to it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-25-19

Proverbs 4:25 (NKJV) 25 Let your eyes look straight ahead, And your eyelids look right before you.

When all is coming against us and we hear nothing from God, what do we do?

We keep on doing what we have been doing and what we know what we need to do. We don’t stop.

We do what is in front of us. We continue to press forward each day and we don’t look back. We don’t make frantic changes out of fear.

We don’t go back to the past, and we don’t remind ourselves of how we used to do things. Maybe that worked back then but it is not going to work for us now.

Our biggest problems come when we look back, when we try to do things the way we did them before. No one wins a race looking back. We must keep our eyes looking forward, and press on.

It’s a NEW day, here and now, not yesterday.

God will meet us when we keep moving forward. He will show us what we need to do next. We just need to be willing to listen and obey His leading.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-11-18

Luke 5:38 (NKJV) 38 But new wine must be put into new wineskins, and both are preserved.

Change can be hard. Even if we know it may be good for us, it’s still hard to actually follow through with it.

Some people may be stuck in a rut because they cannot make the switch. It’s not that they don’t want to. They have every intention to. But when they look at the whole picture it is overwhelming.

God does not expect us to change everything all at once. He knows it will take some time. A little here and a little there is usually sufficient. Just as long as we are willing and we obey His steps, that is all that really matters.

How can we get past this?

Most times we put off changing because inside we are scared of the new. It is usually something we’ve never done and we don’t know what the outcome will be. So, we would rather stay with the known than to enter into the unknown. Why? Because we are familiar with it.

The Israelites had a similar attitude. They were set free from the bondage they were in, but after a while they wanted to go back to the familiarity of the past.

Numbers 14:4 (NKJV) 4 So they said to one another, “Let us select a leader and return to Egypt.”

Are we thinking on the same line today as the Israelites? If so, we need help. The old is not better than the new, no matter how comforting it may seem to us in our minds.

Luke 5:39 (NKJV) 39 And no one, having drunk old wine, immediately desires new; for he says, ‘The old is better.’ ”

We may not like the new change at first, but over time we will find it is what we needed.

When God wants to do something new in us, we have to be ready to receive it, even if we don’t know the outcome. We need to be newly renovated today. We can’t let our love for familiarity work against the newness that God wants to pour into us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-20-18

Proverbs 27:1 (NKJV) 27 Do not boast about tomorrow, For you do not know what a day may bring forth.

Some people can get very frustrated and overwhelmed if they don’t have a plan to work with throughout their day. This type of personality causes these same people to struggle when the unexpected pops up. They get thrown off by unwanted surprises.

There are going to be times when we may not know what is going to take place ahead of time. We are probably thinking right now, “That’s impossible! We have planned for everything that could possibly go wrong. We have planned out our day”.

And then when it hits, it knocks us for a loop. We can become depressed and out of sorts for a while.

We may even become moody and angry toward anyone that comes near us, all because something unexpected happened.

How many of us are hard on ourselves when we get hit with the unexpected? We look at ourselves and how we react to change, and we get frustrated with ourselves and the way we reacted.

It’s time today we forgive ourselves, move on and cut ourselves some slack.

There are a lot of things that will take place that we won’t know about in advance. So, in order for us to live happy and peaceful lives we need to learn to accept the verse above as truth, and understand that stuff happens that we have no control over.

The great news about all of this is that if we are God’s child, through His Son, Jesus Christ, we are well taken care of, even when things do pop up unexpectedly.

Just the other day, something unexpected happened. I did not plan for it and I almost panicked. My nerves started to get the best of me. Then I was quickly reminded that I am not to worry, as God instructs us in His word.

I turned to God and I said, “Father, You knew before this ever happened that it was coming, so I put it in Your hands. I refuse to worry about it, I know you have my answer.” Within a short time, the problem or dilemma was solved. My day continued on as usual.

God will help us. But we have to stop stressing over what hit us. He already knew it was coming and He has a plan. Give it to Him, listen and follow.

Matthew 6:8 (NKJV) 8 “Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-10-18

Matthew 9:17 (NKJV) 17 Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”

When we outgrow things, it brings change. Just because we have done something the same way for a long time, that doesn’t make doing it differently wrong.

When things are fun and they go well, we like to have them happen the same way over and over again. Why not? After all, it went well!

But, sometimes when seasons change we try to force things to go the same way. And what happens? It doesn’t feel the same. It doesn’t go the same, and we don’t get the same results. We can feel that something has changed.

We can automatically think there is something very wrong. But, that’s not always the case. Sometimes it just simply means that we outgrew the old; it’s time for change and time for the new to come.

If we are not careful we will be negative about it and we will never get to see how God wants to use it. But, if we let it flow and we let God lead us in it, eventually we will see why things had to change and it will all turn out to be very good.

New things come in at times, and usually when we least expect it. We need to embrace them and let God show us what He wants to do with them!

Don’t try to mix it up with the old stuff. The new and the old don’t usually mix well. If anything, it can ruin things.
