Category: Asking For Help When We Need it

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-20-24

Mark 10:51 (NKJV) 51 So Jesus answered and said to him, “What do you want Me to do for you?” The blind man said to Him, “Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.”

Sometimes we miss Jesus’s answer to us. Sometimes we are so distracted with our problem, our schedule, or our need we simply miss the question.

What do you want Me to do for you?

Can we sit at His feet today and answer Him? Can we stop what we are doing long enough to let Him know what we need?

This blind man, Bartimaeus, had no problem telling Jesus what He needed Him to do.

Do we have a problem asking Him for what we need?

After Bartimaeus told Jesus what he needed, he immediately received what he needed.

Mark 10:52 (NKJV) 52 Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.

Do we have faith today to believe Jesus for His answer for us? Are we ready to see miracles happen?

The storms of life can be very turbulent and can cause us to step back at times. But, remember Who calms the seas!

Mark 4:39 (NKJV) 39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.

What do you need Him to do for you today?

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-6-21

Matthew 20:32 (NKJV) 32 So Jesus stood still and called them, and said, “What do you want Me to do for you?

I can only imagine their anticipation, knowing that their Healer stood before them, asking them this question; “What do you want me to do for you?”.

If it was us, would we be able to tell Him what we needed? Or would we be too embarrassed or prideful, thinking, “we shouldn’t bother Him with our problems”?

We’d better know what we need to ask for, and humbly come before Him with expectation, knowing that He can take care of our need, If we want miraculous results.

This same Lord who took care of their need stands before us today and asks us the same question, “what do you want me to do for you?”.

It’s up to us to be able to say it.

We need to speak out and ask Him for His answers to our situation.

He wants to help, heal, deliver and bring victory to anything we are struggling with; Anything that is slowing us down or causing us stress or pain.

Matthew 20:33 (NKJV) 33 They said to Him, “Lord, that our eyes may be opened.”

These men told Jesus exactly what they needed taken care of. They were ready for the Great Physician to open their eyes once and for all. They trusted and they knew He could do such a miracle. They were ready to receive it!

Matthew 20:34 (NKJV) 34 So Jesus had compassion and touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him.

I love that it says He had compassion. How precious is He. We need this same compassion working in us towards others today.

He touched their eyes, they immediately received their sight, and they followed Him. Praise be to God!

Let Him touch our need today. He has compassion for us, too.

Believe in our hearts that He can and will take care of all our needs.

Philippians 4:19 (NKJV) 19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-13-21

1 Kings 3:7 (NKJV) 7 Now, O Lord my God, You have made Your servant king instead of my father David, but I am a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in.

Here, Solomon is asking the Lord to help him in the position that He set him up in. This is a very important detail.

The Lord had placed Solomon where he was. And Solomon is speaking to the Lord saying, “you have made me king, but I don’t understand how or what to do. Please help me, guide me and give me Your understanding to handle this position. The people of Israel are too numerous for me to handle and I need Your understanding to know how”.

1 Kings 3:8-9 (NKJV) 8 And Your servant is in the midst of Your people whom You have chosen, a great people, too numerous to be numbered or counted. 9 Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?”

Don’t ever be afraid to ask God how.

He expects us to come to Him and ask whatever we may need from Him.

If we are shy or too prideful to ask, we will risk losing what He has placed in our hands.

You see, just because He places us in a position or on a new job doesn’t mean it’s ours forever. Maybe He has given us something to handle and take care of for a season or time.

God will guide us as to what to do, and how He wants it to be carried out.

God is moving His children into areas and places we’ve never been before, doing things we have never dealt with before; new ground and unfamiliar territory.

We are not alone. God Himself is with us all the more. Call on His name for help and clarity.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-20-17

John 14:13 (NKJV) 13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

Are we asking or are we just waiting? If we are asking then the answer is here, or it’s in the works as we believe.

If we are just waiting to see what God will do and we haven’t asked Him for whatever it is that we may need or want, then it is what it is. Nothing is happening. We can’t blame it on God if we don’t follow directions.

We may say, “well, I don’t want to ask Him because there are many people who are worse off than I am. They need the help more than we do”. So does this mean that God must only have a small inventory, a limited supply?

It’s up to us to follow commands, not make them.

This is not a prosperity teaching. This is about learning how to ask God to help get us out of what we got ourselves into. And it’s about being relieved from bondage; the things that hold us down and keep us from entering into all that God wants from us and for us. We have to get free from those things that put distance between us and God.

You see, if we have bondage then we are not able to walk out the plan that God has for us to its fullest. We may do a little here and a little there, as time allows but never as fully as we could if we weren’t in bondage to other things.

Bondage to anything spells captivity. That thing takes up the time that would otherwise be available for us to do the things God may have for us to do, even if all He asks us to do is to sit at His feet and rest. If God wants us to take the time to do it, we have to be able to say, “yes God, I am here”.

Some of us today are not in a place to be able to do this. But, that doesn’t mean it has to stay this way. It just means we need to fix it, by asking God for help.

God wants all of us, not just a little piece of us. He wants us to be free to move when He asks us to. He wants our minds to be clear and rested, not stressed and overwhelmed.

If we are stuck owing everyone something, like our time, our money, and our energy, then we have not made ourselves available for Him. We are slaves to our own plan.

It’s time to start asking God to help us get completely free of the things that we are in bondage to.

The first step is to understand that God expects us to come to HIM for help and ask. We ask through the precious name of His perfect Son, Jesus Christ.

It’s important that, before we ask, we get His understanding and knowledge on what will be good for us to ask for. Sometimes we may already know. But if for some reason we don’t, we shouldn’t just start rambling things off that we think we need.

Let Him guide us in our prayers. Let it be serious and focused. And take notes. Pay attention to every detail, and be expectant.

Remember, it is God’s will to help us. It is His will to give to us as we ask. We don’t ask so that we may prosper in our own way, or for selfish reasons.

Our goal should be that He can have MORE of us and be glorified through us.

That’s why we ask. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-9-15

Psalm 57:2(NKJV) 2 I will cry out to God Most High, To God who performs all things for me.

Are we that person that doesn’t like to let anyone help us, not even God? Do we want to do it all on our own? Do we have to be able to say, “there, I did it all by myself”?

It’s ok to be able to say this at times, but it shouldn’t be something we say when we really should have asked for help.

That way of thinking will only hurt us even more if we don’t balance it out with what God’s word tells us to do.

We do need to be responsible and do some things on our own. We definitely need to take the initiative in some things and get the job done without having to ask for help.

But, there are those things that come up and we need to know that we’d better ask for help. We need to acknowledge the fact, like that saying goes, we may be in way over our heads. In other words, it’s just too much and we need HELP!

We were not made to do everything on our own.

We can ignore the facts, and keep pushing through in areas where we know we should ask for help. But we will begin to notice certain things will take a hit because of it. Whether our health, our family, or even our relationship with Christ, etc. Most times we will suffer and others around us will, as well.

Please don’t ever be afraid to ask for help. It’s a sign of maturity, wisdom and humility.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-25-14

Psalm 34:17 (NKJV) 17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles.

My Grandson, 7 years old, said to me the other day, “I get so angry sometimes and I can’t control it”. He was very upset and concerned about the fact that he could not control the anger. I could tell a part of him felt helpless in that area.

I said to him, “whenever we cannot control or handle something on our own, it’s alright to ask for help”. God expects us to ask Him for help, no matter what it is; our temper, our behavior, our words, or our habits, etc. It can be the smallest thing or it can be a big thing.

It amazed me that this little 7 year old boy knew enough to talk about it and ask for help. Even at a young age, we know when we are having trouble with something. We cannot be ashamed or too proud, regardless of our age, to ask God, or anyone He leads us to, for help and guidance.

Are you in trouble today? Cry out for help.

He will hear you. He will deliver you out of your troubles.  Amen.
