Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV) 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Understanding. It’s the key to so many things.
The verses above tell us to be anxious for nothing and to let God’s peace that surpasses all understanding guard our hearts and minds through Christ.
There’s some very important instruction for us here, especially when it comes to trusting God, even when we might not understand everything.
God tells us to have peace that surpasses all understanding. This means that despite being in circumstances or going through trials that we may not understand, we can (and should) still have peace, even in the midst of those seemingly-confusing things.
We may face something that seems truly hard to swallow in the natural; the death of a loved one, the loss of a job, a terrible disease in our life or the life of someone we know… there can be a huge list of things that we might face and that we don’t understand.
But, as we learn to trust God, He will give us peace despite the turmoil around us. We can have peace because of our walk with God and the assurance that we have that it’s all in His hands.
We don’t rely on the things of this world to give us peace. We rely on our heavenly Father, the creator of all we see.
And that is why it is called peace that surpasses all understanding.
So look beyond your circumstances today. Look past the chaos of the world. Look past the negativity of those around you. Look past the mockers and the naysayers.
And let His peace surround you and flood your soul.
