John 1:12-13 (NKJV) 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
For those who have received Him and believe in the name of Jesus Christ, what did He do for them?
He gave them the right to become one of God’s children!
Outside of this, it is not possible to be God’s child.
He gives us that right when we put our faith in Him; it cannot happen or take place any other way.
As we become His child, we must understand that He has a purpose for us.
And because we are now His child, He will protect us, care for us, and guide us.
Yes, that’s right! He will lead us down the path He has for us. We will be led by the God of heaven and earth if we allow our spirit to listen and be led.
As we grow, our spirit will crave His wisdom and knowledge. It is up to us to feed our spirit by learning about what His word says to do and how to do it.
Our heart will feel His love. And His love living in us will cause us to want to give of ourselves by helping others.
Sometimes we will even feel the need to give out more than we have for ourselves. That’s not a bad thing. It is God moving in us. And when this happens, He will provide as we obey Him.
Think about the five loaves and two fish that Jesus used to feed 5,000 people (John 6:10-13).
The disciples didn’t have enough to start with, but as they took the step that Jesus told them to take, in obedience and faith, God supplied for everyone there. And there were even baskets full of leftovers!!
Being a child of God is a blessing. We have nothing to worry about. He has gone before us and knows well in advance what we need to do at times. He has us covered.
It doesn’t mean we won’t face hardships. It does mean, however, that if we do face a hardship, and we don’t give up on Him, He will help us every step of the way.
His children are everything to Him. Be serious about our walk and watch what He will do in our lives as we seek first His kingdom, not ours. Amen.
Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
