John 8:11 (NKJV) 11 She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”
While in prayer this morning, I had a vision.
A man was on a surgical table. He was under anesthesia. He was out cold. But yet he suddenly sat up on the table and yelled, “stop!”.
Even though he was under the influence of the anesthesia, he pushed through the effects of it and yelled out.
The anesthesia in this vision is symbolic of sin; the sins that we can fall under the influence of at times.
This shows us that even if we have fallen prey to sin, and it has us under its influence, we must do whatever is necessary to fight it.
You see, no matter how far into sin we are, our conscience or our will can override it and choose to stop.
The man on the operating table was out, but he woke up enough to yell, “stop”. We too must wake up and take action.
We have to be aware of our sin, and we have to be the ones to stop it. No one else can do it for us. It takes resistance and strength to stop it. And God will help us with both.
Who’s in trouble today? How deep are we under the influence of our sin? No matter the depth, resist it. Sit up and stop it.
Go, and sin no more. Amen.
