Psalm 46:10 (NKJV) 10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!
Being still is probably a pretty hard thing for most of us to do, especially if we’re in a pressure situation or going through a trial.
One of the first things that many people want to do when trouble comes is to put on their running shoes and get as far away from trouble as possible. It’s a natural reaction for the flesh to want to avoid anything that might hurt a little.
But God wants us to stay put, sit still and trust Him.
There will be a lot of things that will come our way during our lifetimes. Some of them might be pretty dark and uncomfortable. Some of them might even scare us into thinking that it’s not worth going on.
It doesn’t matter what happens or what we’re facing, God is bigger than that obstacle, trial or situation. He holds the answer to every question we have, the solution to every problem we face and the provision for every need we may come up against.
So as hard as it can be to stay put and be still, that is exactly what we need to do so we can hear Him and get His answer for our dilemma.
No, that doesn’t mean that we just lay down and expect God to do everything for us. But it does mean that we need to be vigilant, diligent and using discernment sharpened by the Spirit of God in order to hear what God is saying and then to follow through and do it.
So it’s time for us to reach down and untie our shoe laces, take those running shoes off and find a place to sit and listen for God’s direction and instruction.
He is able to do more than we could ever think or imagine. And with His help, there is nothing that we can’t overcome.
Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
