(2 Kings 5:10-11 NKJV) And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean.” {11} But Naaman became furious, and went away and said, “Indeed, I said to myself, ‘He will surely come out to me, and stand and call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leprosy.’
Today we’d like to talk to you about expectations.
We all have certain expectations when it comes to God. We have things we desire for Him to do. The funny part is that, most times, the expectations we have aren’t in line with what God wants for us or how He wants to bless us or provide for us.
In the example above, Naaman wanted to be healed of leprosy. He had expectations, first of all to be healed, and second, how he should be healed. When Elisha ordered him to wash in the Jordan River seven times, Naaman became furious and left. Why? Because the way he was going to be healed didn’t meet his expectations.
What are our expectations when it comes to God? Do we have everything all planned out for Him when it comes to how He is to remedy our situations or our condition?
Or are we open to His spirit and willing to let Him speak to us and show us how He wants to work on our behalf.
Think about that. It might make the difference between getting our prayers answered or not.
