Psalm 23:1 (NKJV) 1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
If God is our shepherd, we will never be in want of anything.
You see, as a child of God, it’s important that we let God show us the difference between wants and needs. In today’s modern society, we have been taught that many of the things that we want are actually needs.
But God wants to retrain us and teach us the difference between wanting and needing. And as we let Him do this, we will soon start understanding that the only thing we truly want is Him.
Our satisfaction is found in Him. And, yes, sometimes material things can seem to make us happy. But that happiness is usually very short-lived. It doesn’t matter if it’s a new car, a new home, a new TV or any other kind of possession. They’re all great when they’re new to us, but that novelty will soon wear off and leave us wanting something else new and shiny.
But with God, He never gets old to us. As we grow our relationship with Him, our love for Him also grows. And that love will satisfy us like nothing else can.
As mature believers we will learn to live out Psalm 23:1 each and every day. And we shall not be in want of anything.
