Bible Verse of The Day – 10-14-16

John 8:10-11 (NKJV) 10 When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?” 11 She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”

“Neither do I condemn you”. Those words are spoken by many who want to demonstrate God’s forgiveness for us when we make wrong choices. It’s important that we know this, so we will not live lives of condemnation.

Just as important, though, is what Jesus said at the very end of this; “go and sin no more”.

You see, God has made a way for us to have forgiveness, but He also wants us to refrain from sin. He wants us to live by the Spirit, not by the flesh. And as we learn to live by the Spirit, we will begin to lose the desire to sin. And we will desire to please Him in everything we do.

As the desire to please Him increases, we will find ourselves making bad choices less and less. And as we are tempted and God provides a way out (as He always does), we will begin to turn and run away from sin more and more often.

Proverbs 10:12 says that love covers a multitude of sins. And that also is very true. But that truth is still never an excuse for us to willfully sin.

So it’s important for us to learn to live and walk in the Spirit, listening for God’s voice. And as we do that, we will get better and better at not fulfilling the lust of the flesh.

Galatians 5:16 (NKJV) 16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
