Ephesians 4:32 (NKJV) 32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
It’s hard to walk in a way such as this without the love of God moving through us. The weakness of our flesh can love someone one moment, and in the next breath tear them apart when they’ve done something wrong.
That is not the kind of love that will stick through thick and thin. That is a fleshly love. That kind of love will not love our enemy. That love will not show up when it’s time to do something good for someone that hates us. It will not bless or pray for those that have hurt us.
Luke 6:27-28 (NKJV) 27 “But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.
What kind of love will give us the strength to endure such a task? It’s the Holy Spirit taking our heart, one piece at a time, and feeding it God’s very Words from the pages, and us swallowing it and digesting it.
We will see a difference in ourselves when we have fully digested it.
This isn’t always easy. Walking in this kind of love takes time, effort and a whole lot of putting things in God’s hands. But, with His help we can do it.
