Micah 6:8 (NKJV) 8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?
First, let’s look at what it means to have mercy on someone.
It means to continue to show compassion or forgiveness toward someone when it is within that one’s power to punish or harm them.
In other words, don’t do to them what others would normally do or expect us to do.
Instead, we choose to do the opposite. We choose to give them a way out from their error or mess-up. We choose to forgive them immediately and move on.
How many times does someone do something to us, and we want to lash out at them, thinking we have the right to do so?
Will we take some time and pray about it before we do to them what we think we should do?
Sometimes giving it a little time will help us make good choices in the way we handle certain situations.
Remember, give it some time and let mercy work. Love mercy!
