Bible Verse of The Day – 10-20-23

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

We have been made new in Christ!

Sometimes it can be easy to forget this.

He took our old, sinful self and made us new by the washing of His blood.

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I feel anything but new.

Life can wear on us and cause us to forget who we are, and Who we belong to.

Then the enemy whispers in our ear and reminds us of our old life and our old self, telling us that nothing has really changed. He may even remind us of some of the things we did in our BC (before Christ) life. And that can really cause us to stop and think.

But instead of thinking about how bad and dirty those things make us feel and getting caught up in the negative side of that, we need to use that as a weapon to remind the enemy that we are no longer that person.

If we have truly repented, and we have been washed in the blood of Christ, then we are forgiven. The old self has been made new.

We are no longer condemned. We are no longer sentenced to death and eternal separation from God.

So, don’t let the devil drag you down a road that takes you backwards.

We cannot allow him to take us back to those times when we were dirty and separated from God, living a life that revolved only around ourselves and satisfying the desires of the flesh.

So, the next time the enemy begins whispering in your ear about who you used to be, remember these three phrases; washed in the blood, saved by grace, new creation.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-19-23

Daniel 2:21 (NKJV) 21 And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings…

He gives wisdom to the wise And knowledge to those who have understanding.

We have all taken a hit these last few years. But just like examples from the Old Testament we can see that there will be good leaders and there will be bad/poor leaders.

Some will help us to prosper, and some will cause us to be in a drought or famine.

We all have been hit in one way or another, but be encouraged today.

No matter what comes our way, God is always in control and can redeem the mess we are seeing. He will only let things go on for so long.

In Noah’s day He took evil out by a flood.

Genesis 6:17 (NKJV) 17 And behold, I Myself am bringing floodwaters on the earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh in which is the breath of life; everything that is on the earth shall die.

Sodom and Gomorrah went down by fire and brimstone.

Genesis 19:24 (NKJV) 24 Then the Lord rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah, from the Lord out of the heavens.

With the Egyptians, under Pharoah, God said enough is enough, ”Let my people go!”. And He took out Pharoah’s army, drowning them in the sea.

Exodus 8:1 (NKJV) 1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Let My people go, that they may serve Me.

God raises up and He tears down. He sets the stage for correction and deliverance.

It’s the fear of the Lord that is the beginning of knowledge.

Know Who we serve, continue to follow Him and walk in reverence toward Him.

We will know the truth and He will set us free.

Proverbs 1:7 (NKJV) 7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.

People of God, we know it’s not been easy. But better days are coming. Don’t fear what we see or hear. Fear the Lord and grow in knowledge.

He is faithful to restore that which was lost, and rebuild what has been broken.

We praise you, God! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-18-23

Proverbs 6:6-8 (NKJV) 6 Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise, 7 Which, having no captain, Overseer or ruler, 8 Provides her supplies in the summer, And gathers her food in the harvest.

Some translations of the Bible have labeled this verse “The Folly of Indolence”.

Indolence might be defined as laziness, idleness, slothfulness, lethargy, or apathy.

Laziness or being idle can be dangerous for us in many ways.

It can cause us to reject learning or gaining new understanding in certain matters that impact our lives. Many of those matters can have major, lasting consequences.

It may seem to us that not taking the time or making the effort to learn new things is the easier path.

But that ease is short-lived when the consequences of our slothfulness hit us.

It is important that we allow God to teach us and show us our errors so we can make the necessary corrections.

If we were to watch the ants, squirrels, and other kinds of animals, many work tirelessly during seasons of plenty to store up for those leaner times; the seasons of famine.

They are not working under a supervisor or a captain who gives them orders and tells them what to do.

They just do what has been instilled in them by their God-given instincts.

They store up and prepare for the tougher season ahead, so when it hits, they are well supplied and ready.

We should learn to do the same.

As humans, we often fall into the trap of easing back on our discipline during times of plenty, slacking on storing up. And this catches up with us quickly.

A lean season arrives, and we find ourselves wishing we had been more diligent in our efforts to manage what God has blessed us with.

Let us be like the tireless ants. And let us not fall into the trap of thinking we are smarter than them simply because God has given us intelligence and the ability to reason.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-17-23

Proverbs 4:6 (NKJV) Do not forsake her and she will preserve you.

Who is this scripture referring to as her? Wisdom.

Proverbs 4:7 also tells us that wisdom is the principle thing to get.

How do we get such wisdom?

James 1:5 (NKJV) 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Yes, getting wisdom requires us to ask God for it and He will give it generously or in abundance!

The NIV translation says, He will give without finding fault.

We need to hear this and know that God does not look down on us when we come to Him for wisdom.

He doesn’t say, “Oh boy, we’ve been here before, do we have to do this again?”.

No, He does not find fault. He is gracious, and He wants us to go to Him, trusting in Him and asking for His help.

Each time we go to Him and wait on His answer, we have already begun to take the first steps in walking in such wisdom.

In this world we live there will be hard hits and trials that we will have to walk through. But we will remain safe if we seek His wisdom and abide by it.

Proverbs 1:33 (NKJV) But whoever listens to me will dwell safely. and will be secure, without fear of evil.

We all know that when trials hit, fear usually follows. Let us not take the road that fear would lead us down, but remember to listen to the One who knows us better than we know ourselves. He will keep us safe.

2 Thessalonians 3:3 (NKJV) 3 But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-16-23

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV) 1 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:

It is mid-September as I write this. We woke this morning to cooler, drier air and a breeze coming from the north, bringing crisp, refreshing temperatures with it.

The ushering in of the autumn season has begun. Gradually, we will transition from Summer to Fall.

This transition reminds me of the changes that come with the new seasons in our lives.

I have come to understand over the years that life is, in fact, nothing more than an ongoing series of changes and transitions that start the day we are born and end the day we breathe our last breath and enter into our eternal heavenly home.

Some of the transitions from one season to another come slowly, gently, drawing almost no attention on our part. They just gradually happen; no drama or fanfare.

Other seasons come in with a bang. They demand our attention and require significant effort on our part to adjust.

Many times, these types of seasons bring with them drastic changes that include trauma and trials we must face and navigate.

They disrupt our sense of normalcy and can make us feel like the rug has been yanked from under our feet with no advance warning. We might even feel like we have been caught up in a whirlwind that won’t stop spinning.

During these times of drastic change and upheaval it can be easy to lose our footing and become fearful or doubtful.

And if we are not careful, our faith in God can take a hit.

Jesus told us about these things when He warned us that in this world trials and tribulations would come. But He also told us that we should not fear because He has overcome the world.

John 16:33 (NKJV) 33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Jesus also taught us that there is only one Foundation upon which we should build our house. That foundation is God Himself. Jesus taught that He is the rock, and nothing should be built that is not built upon this Rock.

Anything built upon the Rock will withstand the storms and remain standing.

Anything, however, that is built upon sand, instead of the Rock, will fall as soon as the wind and waves beat against it, crashing into the sea and being swept away.

Matthew 7:24-25 (NKJV) 24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

So, as we face the changing seasons of our lives, and the storms that these changes can sometimes bring, let us be sure to have built our house upon the Rock that is Christ.

He will never fail us. Amen

My Bible Verse of The Day – 10-14-23

Deuteronomy 8:18 (NKJV) 18 “And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

In the verse above, Moses is informing Israel that it is God who gives to them the ability to get wealth.

As His children, we should humbly acknowledge that this power is a God-given ability.

Hopefully we humbly acknowledge where our wealth comes from and are grateful to God for it.

Now, if it is God that gives us this ability to gain wealth, our next question is going to make us think.

Are we lacking in this area? Have we taken the wealth that He has already given to us and spent it foolishly?

God shows us what to do with our finances to make sure we have food in our house.

We must worship Him with our first fruit by giving Him a tenth of it, sowing it into the place that feeds us spiritually.

Are we taking this very important step? If not, then that may be why we are always struggling financially.

Malachi 3:10 (NKJV) 10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing.

God will pour out such blessings as we bring our tithes into the storehouse, worshiping Him and thanking Him for power or the God-given ability to get wealth.

He will also protect us and keep our fruit safe as we obey Him in this area, instead of being greedy with the finances that He provides.

Malachi 3:11 (NKJV) 11 “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” Says the Lord of hosts…

Who is he that tries to destroy our fruit? The enemy!

Let’s cut him off at the knees today, preventing him from stealing our finances, and follow what God has taught us, by bringing all our tithes into the storehouse. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-13-23

Isaiah 48:17 (NKJV) 17 Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you by the way you should go.

He will teach us to profit.

To teach means to instruct or train.

It takes time to learn how to profit, but thank God if we follow His lead, He will show us the way. He is our Lord who teaches.

Many times I have gotten upset at myself for not doing certain things the way I should have. I have often found myself repeating, “If only I would have done it this way”, or “if only I would have done it that way”.

With God, though, He will lead us so that we don’t have to refer to the, “if onlys” as much.

I know it’s much easier said than done because we love to be able to do things without help. But, if we truly want to profit in this life, we need to let Him train us in this.

How many want to profit today?

Let Him teach us how. Let Him be our leader. let Him guide our steps.

We need to say no to the desires within us that keep us repeating our mistakes, and give preference to being taught what is better for us.

Sometimes that very thing we desired was going to be the thing that would delay or distract us. God knows, and He will lead us to what will profit us rather then what will destroy us.

Let our Redeemer teach us the way we should go. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-12-23

1 Chronicles 16:34 (NKJV) 34 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.

For He is good! Amen.

What a God we serve. He is awesome in every way!

I have been learning of and seeing some things these past few months about how powerful God is.

Sometimes He is very quiet but yet still moving in every way. And His promises that are shared throughout His Word are still valid and true today.

He is faithful to take care of whatever needs His attention at any given time. He is there, very much attentive.

He plays a big role in world events.

He is present and active in our personal situations, whether it be marital, family/children, relationships, etc.

He is watching over and involved in church situations.

He is everywhere, Omnipresent!

He is all-knowing, Omniscient!

And He is Almighty God, all powerful, Omnipotent!

Give Him glory today for His mercy endures forever! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-11-23

Luke 11:13 (NKJV) 13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!

The power of the Holy Spirit is ours for the asking. God gives without prejudice.

And to be clear, this is about more than just seeing miracles and mighty moves of God in mass numbers.

This has personal implications that are far greater than most of us realize.

The impact of the Holy Spirit on our daily lives and our relationship with God cannot be stressed enough.

On a personal level, submitting to the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit will cause us to grow spiritually in ways that we might never imagine.

He empowers us to break free of things that may have had a hold on us for months, years, or even decades.

Strongholds, addictions, fears, weak faith, a lack of understanding about certain things, etc., can all be removed permanently from our lives when we submit to the Holy Spirit.

Physical illnesses, diseases, and conditions of impairment can be healed instantly.

He teaches us to have mercy and compassion toward others. He teaches us how to pray.

And the list goes on.

I can personally testify to how rapidly I grew spiritually when I allowed the Holy Spirit to get ahold of me. It was mind blowing.

So, how does this happen?

We get serious with God, we sincerely repent if we have previously failed to do so. And we ask Him to fall upon us, filling us and empowering us to walk obediently.

We set Him free to move in our lives, not just in our actions, but also in our words.

We allow Him to speak through us, whether in our native language, which we and others can easily understand, or in tongues, the heavenly dialog which allows us to “speak mysteries in the spirit” which men do not understand.

1 Corinthians 14:2 (NKJV) 2 For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.

Overall, the Holy Spirit should not be ignored or pushed off because we don’t understand Him or His application in our lives.

Doing so will cost us in more ways than we realize. And it will cost others who may benefit from us allowing Him to move and work in us.

Do not wait. Submit to Him. Seek Him. Invite Him to fall on you, and let Him fill you.

Every one of us needs Him to be prevalent in our lives, so that we may put an end to mediocre living, learning to live and move by His power every day.

We hope this series has been uplifting and informative, bringing you new understanding on this vital topic.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-10-23

Acts 3:12 (NKJV) 12 So when Peter saw it, he responded to the people: “Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or why look so intently at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?

As Peter and John were headed to the temple for prayer, they encountered a man who was lame from birth, and could not walk.

The man routinely laid on the streets and begged.

As Peter and John approached him, he asked them for money.

Peter spoke to the man with authority and told the man to look at him.

As the man made eye contact with them, Peter told him that they had no money to give to him. Instead, Peter spoke and said, “In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk”.

And as Peter took him by the hand and lifted him up, the man was healed and began to walk and leap for joy, praising God as he proceeded to the temple with them!

Why do we not see these types of acts today?

Largely because our faith has been tainted; watered down to the point of mostly being impotent.

The cares of the world have crept in, causing us to replace our time with God with work, busyness and other things that carry no importance in the kingdom of God.

False teachings have permeated the church, telling us that these miracles were only for the early church to build their faith and help bring people in as new believers.

Part of that same false doctrine tells us that these signs were only for the 12 original Apostles. But we can see from scripture that this is not true.

As believers, we have mostly failed to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit by the choices we make. And our lives reflect this in the lack of signs, wonders, and miracles.

But it does not have to be this way!

Every new day that arrives is an opportunity for us to change this; to do something about it. To bring the power and might of the Holy Spirit back into our lives again.

How do we do that?

We will discuss that tomorrow as we wrap up this series.

We hope you will join us!
