Bible Verse of The Day – 4-19-23

Psalm 18:3 (NKJV) 3 I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies.

Because David was a warrior, he continually faced threats from his enemies.

David’s enemies were natural; humans who wanted to take his life or claim his throne, robbing him of what God had blessed him with.

Many of us also face enemies. But they aren’t always human.

Spiritual enemies are huge in the sense that we can’t see them, but we feel their effects on our lives.

We can also wrestle with emotional enemies. These are also very daunting, since they attack our minds and can cause us to think, say and do things out of fear that we wouldn’t normally think, say or do.

Fear is a big enemy that we all must battle. In fact, it is probably the biggest enemy we will face throughout our lifetimes.

Fear can come in many forms and will come at us for many different reasons.

Unexpected changes in our lives can conjure up extremely fearful images in our minds that can reduce a normally strong adult to a person who can’t even get out of their own way.

How do we, as children of God, overcome fear in our lives?

Each of us is different, and each of our situations are different. But one thing that never changes is the sovereignty of our God.

He never changes (Malachi 3:6). He is the same yesterday, today and forever. His promises never fail. And He is faithful in all things.

It’s important that we hold fast to God in everything that we face; every challenge, every obstacle, every enemy.

It is in knowing Him that we also learn to trust Him. And as we face more obstacles in our lives, and we see Him work and move, our trust in Him grows.

None of us likes to face our enemies; the fears, the uncertainties, the challenges of life.

But it’s in doing so, and overcoming them in Christ, that we truly learn to trust God and lean on Him through it all.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-18-23

1 Peter 5:8 (NKJV) 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

Be sober. Another way of saying this is that we are to be self-controlled.

To be self-controlled means that we show or exercise restraint over our impulses, emotions, or desires.

Additionally, the verse above tells us that we are to be vigilant. This means that we are to be alert and watchful.

These two things that are mentioned (being sober and vigilant) are what will help us be ready for our adversary.

The devil is always on the prowl. He is constantly in roaming, seeking and devouring mode.

People may think, ”oh, that’s not positive talk. We like to hear about the good stuff. We like talking about the blessings of God”.

We do too!

But if we don’t learn about our enemy, who he is and what he is about, we will not beat him at his game.

I want to win, don’t you?

So, let’s break him down a bit more, so we can be sure to understand who he is.

John 8:44 (NKJV) 44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

Here we see he is a murderer and a liar.

He will take our life from us and not even blink an eye. He will lie to us over and over, making us think something is true. But like John 8:44 says, there is no truth in him.

Matthew 4:1 (NKJV) 1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

The devil is a tempter!

He tempted God’s Son, Jesus Christ, in the wilderness during a very crucial time in His life, right at the beginning of His ministry.

He was there in the wilderness, trying to stop Jesus from walking out His purpose. He didn’t wait for the most opportune time. He just made sure he was there.

If he will tempt Jesus and not have a problem with it, he will tempt us that much more, and never even blink an eye!

He is a thief.

He will steal anything he can from us; our children, our home, our marriage, our health. And most importantly, he will work really hard to try to steal our relationship with God.

How do we defeat him? We will tell you in one word; resist!

James 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Now, we can’t do this on our own. But with the help of the Holy Spirit, we resist him and everything he tries to do to us.

The Holy Spirit will give us strength to overcome his attacks by helping us be self-controlled and watchful!  Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-17-23

Mark 1:3 (NKJV) 3 “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord; Make His paths straight”.

Centuries ago, John the Baptist showed up and began preaching, preparing the hearts of the people for the Messiah; the One who was still to come.

John’s message was unique, something that was new; a message compelling people to be baptized unto repentance, for the remission of their sins.

Not long after, Jesus arrived and shared these words:

Mark 1:15 (NKJV) 15 … “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”

John baptized unto repentance. Jesus told people to repent.

Now, thousands of years later, we want to share that same message; repent, for the kingdom of God is at hand.

We are not insinuating that the world is about to end, but that the world is definitely in a terrible state, and that it is largely due to sin.

The human condition has continued to decline. Increased sin is a sure sign of that.

We are calling the church to repentance on a large scale. It is crucial that the bride of Christ recognizes the season in which we live.

So, just as John the Baptist cried out in the wilderness, we too are crying out, “repent”!

As our recent video stated, many have left their first love. It’s time to return to the One who loves us so much that He gave His life to offer us redemption.

Come, church. Come back to Him and make Him your first love again.

“Make straight the way of the Lord”.

Amen

The underlying theme of Paul’s desire is life-changing for us once we fully understand it.

We hope God will use this video to touch your heart in a very special way.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-15-23

Psalm 147:3 (NKJV) 3 He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.

I was recently reflecting about when my dad passed away.

I couldn’t explain how I felt at first. But looking back, I remembered my mom talking about the expression I had on my face, and how I yelled when he took his last breath, “my Papa’s gone!”.

At that moment, I felt something leave me and I didn’t quite understand it for a long time.

It was a year and a half later that I found myself on my knees asking God to help me learn to live without my father. You see, when a person has a big presence in our lives, it fills a part of us.

When someone we love leaves us, there is an empty spot. That spot remains empty until we fill it with something comparable.

For some it’s our work. For others it’s spending money, or dating. For others, it may be starting a project. Or we may try to fill it by overeating or drinking.

We will fill it with anything that will bring comfort there once again.

It’s not terrible to want to fill that empty void that was left by their absence.

However, I found with me that everything I was doing was not helping me. I couldn’t even enjoy some of the great blessings God was bringing me. My heart needed healing.

I cried out to God because no matter what I did, I couldn’t make that spot fill up. When I asked God to help me, He came and filled it with what was missing.

Only God knows what we need when we lose someone or something dear to us.

What this world offers will never fill that void. It can’t.

But if we surrender that empty spot to Him, He will come and pour the exact amount of what we are missing right into that spot!

God is faithful to take care of that spot! His joy comes in the morning.

Psalm 30:5 (NKJV) 5 For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-14-23

Revelation 3:19 (NKJV)19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.

God will chasten us for one reason; because He loves us.

What He is dealing with in our heart is important to Him and good for us.

Nobody likes to talk about this. We don’t like to hear that God will correct us, or that He may not allow us to move forward or to reach our goals in our life at times.

Why? Because our heart is in the wrong place.

We may not necessarily like it, but without God’s chastening in our lives, there won’t be any blessings either.

God loves to see His children walking in obedience. And when we do so, He will reward us accordingly. As we walk in His will, all that we need will be provided for us.

The Israelites spent 40 years in the wilderness and all God wanted was for them to reach a place of obedience in their hearts. That’s it. All they had to do was listen and obey.

Joshua 5:6 (NKJV) 6 For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people who were men of war, who came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they did not obey the voice of the Lord—to whom the Lord swore that He would not show them the land which the Lord had sworn to their fathers that He would give us, “a land flowing with milk and honey.”

Maybe we are wandering in our own wilderness, wondering, “why am I still in the same place today. I prayed, I changed some things up in my walk, I did everything I know how to do, and I am still in the same place. Nothing has changed”.

We have to ask ourselves, are we doing what God is asking us to do, the way He wants us to do it, and in His timing?

James 1:5 (NKJV) 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Get His wisdom about why we are stuck in this place, and then follow through with His plan and it will be given to us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-13-23

Psalm 119:11 (NKJV) 11 Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.

Knowing what His word says will keep us from indulging in sin. It will bring conviction when we are weak and ready to cave in to temptation.

Hiding His word in our heart means to READ scripture, meditate on scripture and know scripture.

We need to walk in the scripture, live in the scripture and hold it dear to our heart. It is our answer to everything we face.

Some may say, “well, that’s nice but who has time to sit and read?”.

We all have time given to us. It’s what we do with our time that counts.

We have full control over our time. We will fill it up with the things we feel we need to do.

Hopefully, we will see that we need to be in God’s word daily.

Everything else can wait. Reading God’s word should be a priority every day. It is so very important that we get it in us.

Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV) 6 Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.

Parents, we are responsible for training up our children. Let us teach them and train them in the way they should go. Get them in God’s word early. If they can’t read, read it to them.

Oh, they may fuss about it, stomp their feet or kick and scream at times. But stay strong; don’t give in. They need it in them more than we will ever know.

Let us hide His word in our hearts today, so when sin comes knocking on our door, we have the strength in us to avoid it and to shut it down quickly! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-12-23

Acts 13:22 (NKJV) 22 And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.’

God removes, and God raises up!

Sometimes we think we have the bull by the horns, so to speak. We think we have it all under control.

Many of our government officials believe their positions are absolute, and no one can touch them.

On a personal level, maybe we feel stable in our careers, in our personal lives, etc., as if we have it all under control.

We need to recognize this in our lives and put a stop to it.

Remember who really has control over it all every minute of every day.

And He will step in when He’s ready. He will say, “enough is enough”, when He knows the time is perfect.

He will stop the evil and He will shut the mouths of the lions when He sees fit.

We ask you today, “why are you worrying?”. Is it because of the things you are dealing with, or what you see happening around you?

God raised up David to be the king who would replace Saul.

David was just going along doing his daily things. He had no aspirations or visions of greatness for his life.

Sometimes just being diligent in what we know to do, being steadfast and persistent, will bring in God’s change.

Just like in David’s case, God pays close attention to our heart.

The state of our heart will either please the Lord or make Him want to vomit us out of His mouth.

Revelation 3:15-16 (NKJV) 15 “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.

He said David was, “a man after My own heart”.

Wow! I can’t even imagine God saying that about any human being because of how imperfect we can be at times.

God wasn’t looking for a man with a perfect heart. He was looking for a man who would allow Him to change, teach, instruct and chasten him when needed; a man that would listen.

Despite his faults, David desired to obey God in all that he did.

I believe God wants to call all His children, “A man or woman after His own heart”.

If our heart is in such a place with God, He will work through each one of us. In that, we will fulfill our purpose here on this earth.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-11-23

Proverbs 14:22 (NKJV) 22 Do they not go astray who devise evil? But mercy and truth belong to those who devise good.

When used together in their original language, these two words, mercy and truth, mean “constant faithfulness” or “true loyalty”.

Constant faithfulness and true loyalty are attributes of God.

Let’s make this personal.

As children of God, these attributes should also be visible in our lives.

This will bring glory and honor to God.

How do we walk in such a way?

We have to choose God’s desires over our own desires.

This can be hard to do at times because our flesh will fight us.

But as we submit to God, He will begin to change our heart.

As our heart changes, it becomes less difficult to do what God desires. In fact, as God continues to change our heart, His desires will become our desires. And our flesh won’t fight the way it used to.

Allowing God to make this change in us is the only way that we can faithfully walk these attributes out in our lives daily.

Let us be faithful and diligent to obey the Holy Spirit’s leading, that we will be submitted to God in everything that we do.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-10-23

Ecclesiastes 1:14 (NKJV) 14 I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and indeed, all is vanity and grasping for the wind.

Last July I turned 60 years old.

It was kind of a weird feeling, to be honest.

I don’t feel 60. Not at all. I love the outdoors and I love to be active; bass fishing, bike riding, walking and just taking in the beauty of God’s incredible creation.

Despite still doing all of that, I am 60. And because I’m 60, I have seen some stuff.

I haven’t traveled around the world. It’s not really that kind of stuff that I’m referring to.

When I say that I’ve seen a lot of things, I’m referring to everyday things; stuff that we all see in life. And over the many years of my life, I have grown to love some things about life.

But I will readily tell you that almost everything that people love or get excited about is vanity and grasping for the wind.

Some of the things that would be exceptions to this would be our walk with God, the love we share with our spouse, our family and our children.

All else, including hobbies, careers, physical appearance, material possessions, financial status, social status, etc., are all nothing more than vanity and chasing after the wind.

You see, in the end. All that matters is our relationship with our Creator, the God of heaven and earth.

He is the One who breathed life into us. He is the One who gave our heart the rhythm of its beat. He is the One who spoke the worlds into existence. And He is the One who redeemed us through the blood of His only Son, Jesus Christ.

So, it’s important that we truly understand this and keep everything in its proper perspective and proper place.

And when we feel like we’re starting to get caught up in the things and the ways of this world, let us be reminded that it is all vanity and grasping for the wind; a vapor that passes as quickly as it materialized.

Pursue God and put Him first in everything. In that alone is true satisfaction.
