Bible Verse of The Day – 3-9-23

Revelation 19:6 (NKJV) 6 And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, “Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns!

Omnipotent God; unlimited power! We praise You. Heavenly Father.

Who in the kingdom of God, one of His children, is nervous, scared, sick, hurt, brokenhearted, lonely, addicted, failing, and running scared?

If that describes you, know that you are not alone.

You don’t have to face this alone. You don’t even have to make a move alone.

Why?

Because your unlimited, powerful Father is right there with you every step of the way.

It’s important that you, my friend, don’t let go of Him, because He will hold you to the end.

Praise Him today, for He reigns in every way. And you are going to make it through.

Don’t stop believing in Him. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-8-23

Judges 6:16 (NKJV) 16 And the Lord said to him, “Surely I will be with you, and you shall defeat the Midianites as one man.”

I remember learning the story of Gideon many, many years ago. I was fascinated when I first learned about it.

Gideon went to battle against the Midianites and defeated them with only 300 men, which is the number of men God had specifically told Gideon to take with him.

Even today it still fascinates me. And it seems that every time I read through it, I learn something new that I hadn’t seen before.

The fact that Gideon defeated the Midian army with only 300 men is incredible. In fact, it is miraculous, since the Bible says that the Midianite and Amalekite armies that they were facing were as numerous as locusts!

But what strikes me even more about this whole thing isn’t Gideon’s victory. It’s the way God chooses to move so uniquely in so many different scenarios.

God rarely, if ever, chooses to do things the same way twice when it comes to how He handles situations that require His intervention.

He does this purposely. And one of the reasons is so no man can try to claim credit or take the glory for the things they accomplish.

God has a habit of taking the playbook and throwing it away. This tends to confound and confuse man’s intellectual understanding and planning, which I find exciting, amusing and exhilarating all at the same time.

1 Corinthians 1:27 (NKJV) 27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;

You see, God is who He is, and He answers to no man. So, when I see Him switching things up and doing things His way, instead of the way we expect Him to do it, I find that incredibly satisfying.

It just solidifies His sovereignty and proves how much higher His ways are than our ways.

And as a child of God who is learning more every day about walking and living by the spirit, instead of the flesh, seeing God move this way brings me an incredible sense of security and satisfaction.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-7-23

John 8:11 (NKJV) 11 She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”

How often throughout the day do we feel like we are being condemned?

Maybe we did something terrible and we are truly sorry for what we did. Or maybe we said something that we wished we never said.

Maybe we made a promise to someone that we could not keep and it eats away at us all day and night.

We have asked for forgiveness and we have received it, but there’s still that part of us that feels awful about what we did.

Sometimes, just as we need to ask forgiveness from God and from others that we have hurt, we also have to forgive ourselves for the things we’ve done. We have to stop condemning our own self.

That’s right.

We can keep ourselves in a depressing state of guilt if we don’t forgive ourselves for certain things.

God loves us so much. And as we repent, He forgives us and does not condemn us. Knowing that, we shouldn’t hold ourselves in a place of guilt, shame and condemnation.

Be free today. Forgive ourselves now and move forward. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-6-23

John 16:13 (NKJV) 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

Following the leading of the Holy Spirit has ramifications in every aspect of our lives.

He will teach us how to walk more closely with God, helping us build a stronger relationship with Him.

He will help us better understand the word of God, giving us deeper insights into who God is and who He wants us to be.

He will show us things in our lives that we would miss or not see if we were not listening and paying attention to Him.

Some of the things He will show us will be spiritual and related solely to our walk with God.

Other things He will show us will be relevant to the world we live in and the things going on around us.

Some of these things will not seem spiritual on the surface. They will seem like mere current events or something similar.

But if we allow Him to draw back the curtain, so to speak, and reveal the deeper things to us, we will see that everything we’re seeing in the natural is actually very deeply spiritual.

For every action we see in the natural, there are several unseen actions happening in the spiritual realm. Spiritual warfare is happening every second.

But without the help and discernment of the Spirit of God, we will be blind and oblivious to all of it, and we will often have no true understanding of what’s happening around us.

This is why it’s so critically important for us to learn to hear and heed God’s Spirit.

Even in our everyday lives, God will reveal things to us that will blow our minds if we allow Him to, revealing even things to come.

Father God, help us to submit to you and allow your Spirit to guide us into all truth. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-4-23

Mark 2:22 (NKJV) 22 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins.”

A new wine skin expands as the wine that’s being stored in it ferments.

If we were to pour new wine into an old wine skin, the gasses and unfermented juices would cause that old skin to burst. The wine would be lost, and the wine skin would be ruined.

As believers, sometimes we want new things but we don’t want to let go of the old. We don’t want things to change.

But just as the old wine skin is not good enough to hold the new wine, so it can be with us.

We often need to empty ourselves of the old things, our routines and our old ways of thinking, before God can bring in the new things He has for us to do.

We may not always understand everything right away, but if we are willing to let God bring the change we will get clarity as we follow.

The important lesson is learning to let God help us let go of the old so the new change will be able to grow freely in us.

Speaking from my own personal experience with moving from RI to NC, I tried and tried to keep that old thing going. I was trying to cling to many of the familiar things that I had known for so long.

Trying to do the same thing as I did in RI was not working. As a matter of fact, a part of me was feeling like I was at a standstill.

In my prayer one day, God brought the above scripture to me about the wine and the wineskins. He said that as long as I continue to keep the old things going there was not any room for the new things.

I was like, “What?”.

I was bothered at first, thinking “what am I missing?”. I moved here to NC, didn’t I?

You see, what I learned was that I did leave RI physically. However, my heart was still there, still trying to cling and hold on to some things that were dear to me. I was still there emotionally, doing the same old things, just from a different location.

Sometimes all it takes is getting a little more understanding and making the correction or adjustment within our hearts and minds that we need to make.

Let us not remain in the old wine skin (place). Embrace the new skin and the new wine that He will pour into it!

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-3-23

Genesis 4:7 (NKJV) 7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”

As Cain and Abel, the sons of Adam and Eve, became adults and began to find their way in the world, each of them had different skills.

Cain was a gardener, growing fruits and vegetables.

Abel was a shepherd, tending his flocks of sheep.

When the time came for them to give an offering to God, they each gave from their livelihood. Cain gave fruit as an offering. Abel gave the firstborn of his flock.

God was pleased with Abel and his offering, but He did not accept the offering of Cain.

The word of God isn’t specific as to why Cain’s offering was rejected, but Cain probably knew why.

It is likely that it was not Cain’s offering itself that God rejected, but the attitude or the heart with which he gave it.

Whatever the reason was, God was not pleased with him, and Cain knew it.

This caused Cain to become angry, so God addressed him.

The simplicity of how He addressed Cain is profound; “If you do well, will you not be accepted?”.

He made it clear to Cain that if he simply “did well” (did what was right in God’s eyes), he would be accepted.

But then, because He knew Cain’s heart, He issued him a warning; “if you do not do well, sin lies at the door”.

And He went on to tell Cain that sin would try to overtake him, so he must rule over it so it would not win.

Sadly, Cain ignored God’s counsel and he went on to take his anger out on his brother, killing Abel with a rock.

Sin will try to do the same kinds of things to you and me.

It will try to overtake us, leading us further and further away from God, with the ultimate goal of destroying us and tearing us away from Him for eternity.

It’s up to us to rule over (master) sin, so it does not master (rule over) us.

God has equipped us and given us everything we need to be able to do this. And He has given us much instruction about this, including this direct, simple verse.

James 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Let us not be like Cain, falling prey to temptation and the sin that ensnares us, but willing to heed God’s counsel, that we might be pleasing to God, ruling over our sin before it rules over us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-2-23

1 John 5:12 (NKJV) 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

People who do not put their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are only functioning and living by their flesh.

They are surviving by their intellect and a very small part of their hearts. They are very limited in their ability to think, love, grow and understand.

When John says, “they do not have life”, he is talking about those who haven’t put their faith in Jesus Christ. And because of that, their spirit has never come alive. They have not been born again.

They are not truly living the life God has for them, for God is Spirit and He only communes with our spirit. But if we never believe in His Son, Jesus Christ, our spirit will remain dead.

Without our spirit being made alive, we just live by the flesh.

True life begins when we repent, recognize Jesus Christ as God’s Son, and put our faith in Him.

Our spirit comes alive when this takes place.

A new life begins for us as we follow His teachings and obey His steps. We find ourselves surrendering our fleshly understanding and taking on a “spiritual” walk to replace our old, fleshly ways.

The flesh alone will live a worldly lifestyle. But Jesus calls us to come out from among the world and be separate. It’s then that we experience a life that is fulfilling and meaningful.

2 Corinthians 6:17 (NKJV) 17 Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-1-23

Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV) 6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Over the years, I have come to understand how important this really is.

Our faith is the key to every aspect of our walk with God.

It’s critical for us to recognize that this faith is not faith in ourselves. It is not faith in a person, such as a pastor or other church leader.

And it isn’t faith for the sake of having faith.

Our faith must be solely, strongly rooted in God alone.

And it is that kind of faith that is being referred to in the verse above.

It is that kind of faith that will allow us to see God move in our lives. It is that kind of faith that will cause us to see miracles; true miracles that are life changing.

This kind of faith is not meant to be on display on Sunday morning. It is not a mechanism by which we obtain social status.

Jesus mentioned this kind of faith on several occasions. And in all these instances, people experienced miracles. Here is one of them.

Mark 5:34 (NKJV) 34 And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.”

On another occasion, a Roman centurion approached Jesus and asked Him to heal his servant but wanted Him to do so without even going to see the person in need of healing.

Jesus was astounded at the man’s great faith!

Matthew 8:10 (NKJV) 10 When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!

It is this kind of faith in Him that God wants us to have; the kind of faith that trusts Him implicitly.

So, we encourage you to seek God. Pursue Him with every fiber of your being, not so you can see miracles, but so you can see Him for who He is; the One who created everything we see. The one who breathed life into our lungs and created the rhythm of our heartbeats.

And, yes, even the One who still does miracles each and every day.

For without faith, it is impossible to please Him.
