Bible Verse of The Day – 7-9-22

Matthew 11:30 (NKJV) 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Take time to sing and praise Him for His marvelous work.

Take time to be silent and recognize Him for Who He is.

Take time to pray.

The greatest moments in my life have been in these 3 places.

I’ve had such wonderful moments with God when I was just singing and praising Him for Who He is!

There is nothing like it. It’s better than anything we can imagine.

His presence is powerful! He is alive and real and willing to meet us where we are at. He is never too busy for us. And He waits for us to come to Him.

We never have to worry about Him not coming to us. It’s the other way around.

We have to make the effort to push everything else aside and come to Him.

Do we make time? If we don’t, no one will make it for us.

When we spend time with Him, we become stress-free, alive, and full of joy! He takes the weight off us and fills us with His lightness.

Hallelujah!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-8-22

Acts 16:29-31 (NKJV) 29 Then he called for a light, ran in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. 30 And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31 So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

Sometimes salvation (being born again) can be made to seem very complicated.

This is not God’s way, though. It is man’s way.

Most times this is not intentional. It just kind of happens as unnecessary “noise” gets added to the message.

It’s important for us all to understand that Jesus has already done the hard work; His voluntary surrender to the Father’s will and giving Himself to die on the cross in our place.

He did this for you and for me.

So, what do we need to do? How do we “get saved” (become born again)?

Paul stated it very simply, above; Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.

And what does it mean to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ?

Here it is in its most simple form.

We acknowledge that He is the son of God. We understand that he died for our sins. And then we repent for our own sins, asking Him to forgive us and cleanse us from our sin.

That’s it. It’s that simple.

Notice that Paul didn’t go into a long dissertation when asked what to do to be saved. He stated very plain and directly, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.

And so, we say to you today, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.

Trust Him with your life, here on earth and for eternity in heaven. Let Him wash away your sins with His precious blood that was shed for you and for me on the cross.

Put your faith in Him and let Him into your life.

We won’t promise you that your life will suddenly be trouble-free and that nothing bad will ever happen to you again.

But we will promise you that as you walk with Him, He will walk with you and lead you as you allow Him to.

And as you are faithful to Him, He will stick by your side, closer than a brother, leading you one step at a time through whatever you face in your life.

And, most importantly, you will now be a child of God, knowing that you will spend eternity in heaven. Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-7-22

John 8:24 (NKJV) 24 Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.”

I was just a little girl when I felt the love of Jesus Christ for the first time. It was like nothing I had ever felt. I felt a big lump of warmth and security like never before that came over my heart and soul.

I remember after I walked up the aisle to give my heart to Jesus, the pastor of the church picked me up and used me as an example to show that even little children can believe in Him.

Jesus Christ died for us all, no matter our age or our sin. He and His Father loved us all first.

1 John 4:19 (NKJV) 19 We love Him because He first loved us.

We must understand that without Him we will die in our sin. There is no other way to enter the kingdom of God but through Jesus Christ. He is the key that unlocks the door.

Be willing and open to Him! That is what it all boils down to.

Let the Lord God draw us in, that He may touch our heart and that we may believe and receive His gift of eternal life. Amen.

John 12:32 (NKJV) 32 And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-6-22

1 Peter 1:18-19 (NKJV) 18 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

In keeping with the devotional from Monday, which discussed being born again, let’s talk more today about salvation in Christ.

While the scripture above never specifically mentions salvation or being born again, Peter is speaking to those who have already been born again, set free from their sinful former selves through the blood of Christ.

What he is telling them is very important for all of us to understand. Let’s take a look.

First, they (we) were not redeemed (set free from sin and tradition) by corruptible (tangible, material) things.

Their (our) freedom from sin was not bought with gold, silver or other material items. It was, instead, bought and paid for by the blood of Christ. It is a spiritual redemption, not a physical redemption.

The application of His blood to our lives on a personal level breaks the chains of sin in our lives, setting us free.

This is a perfect parallel illustration of being set free from slavery in the natural.

Slaves in the days when Peter wrote this book could be redeemed (set free from slavery to another human being) by way of payment of silver or gold to their master.

That single payment bought them their freedom, allowing them to live the rest of their lives as free men and women.

Likewise, the blood of Christ, if personally applied to our lives, sets us free from the bonds of sin.

In the case of a human slave, the payment for their freedom is made with corruptible (imperfect), tangible things.

In the case of redemption in Christ, His precious blood frees us with perfection because Jesus was without spot or blemish (without sin).

This was/is the only way that we could ever be bought (redeemed) from the chains of our sin. And because of Christ’s perfection, His blood over our lives has made us clean and holy before God.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-5-22

John 8:29 (NKJV) 29 And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.”

Why did the Father not leave Jesus alone?

Because He always did what pleased His Father. He had focus, determination and purpose. And He didn’t let anything get in His way.

His Father sent Him to do a certain thing, and His heart was going all the way! He loved His Father and put Him before His own will.

Luke 22:42 (NKJV) 42 saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.”

What is God asking us to do today?

Do we have purpose in fulfilling it? Will we go all the way, or will we give up and pull away from Him when things get heated or harder than we had planned?

When it gets a bit uncomfortable, will we push through or pull back?

Only we can decide this.

We are going to have to get serious. At times we are going to have to push through with everything in us. And even that won’t seem like enough at times.

But remember, when we feel like we can’t go any further, the Holy Spirit will give us what it takes to go the rest of the way. We just have to acknowledge our Helper and He will come to our rescue.

John 14:16 (NKJV) 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever

It’s important that we understand that He will give us another Helper and He (the Holy Spirit) will stay with us forever.

We may not be able to do this on our own, but we can do it with our Helper. Don’t give up.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-4-22

John 3:3 (NKJV) 3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Before we ever worry about a single thing related to God, we need to be sure to tend to this one thing; being born again.

You see, without being born again (born of the Spirit), nothing else matters.

That may sound blunt, but it’s the truth.

Jesus Himself said, “unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God”.

There is no room for negotiating or bargaining. It is an absolute.

We need to understand that emotion isn’t part of this. Intellect isn’t part of this. It is 100% spiritual in nature. This is why the word also refers to it as being “born of the Spirit”.

As Jesus spoke with Nicodemus, who had approached Jesus in the night so as not to be seen by others, He told Nicodemus that he must be born again. When Nicodemus questioned this, Jesus spoke further.

John 3:5 (NKJV) 5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

Again, Jesus was absolute in His statement. He didn’t offer alternative ways whereby one can enter the kingdom of God.

Now, to make it clear, being born again, or being born of the Spirit, does not require a certain set of steps. Nor does it require a ceremony of any kind.

It is 100% personal, between you and God.

And it does not require any special prayer or special words to be uttered.

What it requires is a sincerely repentant heart that is seeking God and His truth.

That truth lies in Jesus.

John 14:6 (NKJV) 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

In Him and Him alone can we find salvation; forgiveness for our sins and eternal life with the Father.

So, in all of our seeking, let us be sure to seek first the kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33). Without that, nothing else matters.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-2-22

John 8:7 (NKJV) 7 So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.”

These people, the pharisees and scribes, wanted to test Jesus, that they might have something they could accuse Him of.

What would He do to this woman because of the sin she had been caught in?

But Jesus had the answer that caused them all to take a good look at themselves. He turned it around on them.

He has a way of showing us things that bring us face to face with reality in our own self. No one and nothing can be hidden from Him.

Did He look down on them, knowing they weren’t without sin as well?

No. He just gave them a chance to see what they were doing, and to make the right choice, knowing deep down they weren’t any better.

They all had their things at times. And maybe some of them were even still involved in a sinful lifestyle.

Romans 3:23 (NKJV) 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…

So, after Jesus had gotten them to look at themselves, He urged them to go ahead and throw a stone if they were without sin.

But, none of them could do it. He made them see that they too needed forgiveness.

We need to make sure we are not pointing the finger at someone else for what they are doing when we struggle with sin ourselves. No one is perfect. Have mercy, and learn from Jesus’ words.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-1-22

Proverbs 1:5 (NKJV) 5 A wise man will hear and increase learning, And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel…

Some people spend their entire lives ignoring the counsel of others.

While it’s true that some people are all too eager to give their opinion and advice, even when it has not been asked for, it will behoove us all to pay attention and let the Holy Spirit show us to whom, and when we should listen.

Failing to hear what someone says to us, especially if we hear it repeatedly over the course of many months or years, can cause us to fail to learn important lessons in our lives.

This only sets us up for failure (usually repeatedly), since we didn’t humble ourselves and heed what we heard many times over.

This may seem like something that’s not deeply spiritual. But the fact of the matter is that God wants us all to learn and grow, and He will use people to help us do that.

But if we fail to listen to those people, either because we’re stiff-necked (stubborn), or because we refuse to humble ourselves (prideful) and admit that they may have wisdom to offer us that could help us, we will find ourselves stuck in the same situations over and over again.

And it may be that we will eventually fall victim to our own devices due to our unwillingness to listen and learn.

This has spiritual ramifications because our growth as a child of God can very well be hindered (stunted) when we refuse to receive counsel from others.

Let’s make sure that we allow God’s Spirit to speak to us, even if we might not like what we’re hearing. Just because we don’t like it doesn’t mean that we can’t learn from it.
