Bible Verse of The Day – 5-31-22

John 3:3 (NKJV) 3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Being born again is a spiritual birth from above. It’s not a second biological birth. We must be born again or we cannot see the kingdom of God.

Being born again is a gift from God. It is what will save us from sin, which comes from within our hearts. Our heart is wicked without God.

Jeremiah 17:9 (NKJV) 9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?

Not seeing the kingdom of God unless we are born again is not something we should take lightly or just skim over. It is a fact, and God will not make any exceptions.

When we have been born again, we must not ignore that there are others that God will bring onto our path for us to share our experience with.

Know that just because we have been born again our job is not over. On the contrary, it has really just begun.

Be ready to share the good news if God prompts us to do so, for it is by us sharing the truth with others that they will be set free.

John 8:32 (NKJV) 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Now, do people always want to hear about it from us?

Some may not at first. But we must share it anyway. Be ready in season and out of season to speak God’s truth.

Today, people are looking for the truth more than ever. They are desperate. Will we be ready to be God’s spokesperson or will we shy away, hoping someone else will do it?

2 Timothy 4:2 (NJKV) 2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.

Be ready children of God, those who are born again. Be ready to stand up and speak the truth when needed. Wait for it and God will lead.

We must be born again in order to see the kingdom of God. There’s no other way. Repent and turn to Jesus for Salvation today. His arms will always be open for us if we truly believe.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-30-22

Matthew 15:1-3 (NKJV) 1 Then the scribes and Pharisees who were from Jerusalem came to Jesus, saying, 2 “Why do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.” 3 He answered and said to them, “Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition?

As Jesus spent more time in public, He drew more and more criticism from the religious leaders of that day.

The things He taught bothered them, so they sought to discredit Him.

At that same time, Jesus began to tear down many of the old traditions that they clung to in their ritualistic worship of God.

So, as they questioned Him as to why His disciples didn’t (ceremonially) wash their hands before eating bread, Jesus turned the tables on them and put them on the spot.

His intention wasn’t to persecute them, but to try to get them to see their own hypocrisy in the fact that while they followed their traditions rigorously (mechanically), they failed to honor God by following His commandments.

Later, when His disciples questioned Him about this, He explained that it’s not what we put into our mouth that defiles us, but what comes out of it. For what comes out is driven by what’s in our heart.

And that’s what really matters.

Let us not be like the religious leaders who were more concerned with tradition than they were with their relationship with God.

We need to let God cleanse us from the inside, out, that our hearts may be purified and guarded against the evil things that corrupt us.

Matthew 15:18-20 (NKJV) 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. 20 These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-28-22

John 2:11 (NKJV) 11 This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.

What took place? Jesus’ very first miracle.

He and His disciples were at a wedding. Jesus’ mom told Him that they were out of wine (John 2:3-4). Jesus replied, “what does this concern of yours have to do with Me, My hour has not yet come”.

But His mother told the servants, “whatever He tells you to do, do it”.

So, Jesus told them to take the water pots and fill them with water. And so, they did. There were 6 of them that held 20 – 30 gallons each.

And when they filled them to the brim, they drew some out and took it to the master of the feast. The master said to the bridegroom, “everyone else brings out the good wine first, but you have saved the best for last”.

This was Jesus’ first miracle, in Cana of Galilee. He manifested His glory before them, and the disciples believed!

How awesome it must have been to experience such a thing.

It can be very hard to wrap our heads around Jesus and try to comprehend Who He really is.

It’s hard to understand the love and the mission He had, to serve us and save us from ourselves. To help us see and believe in our hearts that He is Who He says He is; the Messiah, and Lord Jesus Christ!

Acts 16:31 (NKJV) 31 So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

May the eyes of our hearts be open and see the glory of God, through the things Jesus has done for us, that we would believe in Him!

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-27-22

Matthew 8:2-3 (NKJV) 2 And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” 3 Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

Jesus healed many people from a huge number of various diseases and conditions.

Perpetual bleeding, blindness, deafness, physical deformities, demon possession, seizures, and even leprosy, as in the scripture above.

There were many other sicknesses and diseases that he healed people from. These were just some examples.

Each of these people had their own unique situations that they were dealing with.

Some of them were healed with a simple word or phrase spoken from the mouth of Jesus. Others required the person (or people) to take certain steps, following the instructions that Jesus gave them.

In the example above with the leper, Jesus physically touched this man. And in that act, there is something significant that took place aside from the fact that the man was healed.

Based on Mosaic law (The Law), nobody was allowed to touch a leper. Doing so made you “unclean” (defiled) by the standards of The Law.

When Jesus touched the leper, He displayed authority over the disease. He didn’t fear it, and He didn’t fear the reaction of the people who saw this take place.

Many were afraid of touching a leper out of fear of becoming infected with leprosy themselves.

Take note, though, that when Jesus touched the leper, not only did He not become infected, but the leper was no longer infected either. The touch of Jesus, and the faith of the man with leprosy, healed him immediately.

Jesus was more than just a man with a gift to teach. He was more than a rabbi. He was more than a prophet, even though He was all of these and more.

He was God in human skin. He was Immanuel, God with us (Matthew 1:23).

He had absolute authority over everything, including sickness, death, wind and waves (Mark 4:41), demonic spirits and so much more.

So, if we are His, what do we have to fear?

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-26-22

Numbers 14:24 (NKJV) 24 But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it.

Caleb had a different spirit in him; a spirit that followed God.

He had a good attitude, he followed God wholeheartedly and was very devoted. That was the difference, in a nutshell, between Caleb and the Israelites.

How do we ever get to the promised land God has for us? With a good spirit, and being willing to obey!

We can’t just pretend that we are OK with what God is doing in our lives. It has to be real, genuine and proven through our actions.

The Israelites couldn’t get away with their heart condition. It showed!

It showed in everything they did and everything they spoke.

They did things that kept them from entering into God’s promises for them.

If they’d had the right spirit and their hearts were willing, they could have made this journey in 12 days.

However, instead, they complained that they did not have enough food. They said it would be better to be slaves in Egypt than to starve in the wilderness.

They wanted to go back to where God brought them from.

Sometimes God will set us free from a situation. It might be freedom from an area, or even from certain people.

At first, we may like it, but some days part of us may want to go back. Why? Because we are familiar with what once was . And in some ways familiarity brings us comfort.

Let’s keep our heart on God and His promise for us; that it may come to fruition.

Stay obedient to His plan. He will get us there if we don’t let our mind and emotions long after the “once was”, causing us to give up hope and lose our faith.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-25-22

Matthew 7:24-25 (NKJV) 24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

We often hear this verse quoted because it refers to building on the rock, not on sand or other easily-destroyed foundations.

Today, let’s look at this from the opposite angle and see what we can glean from it.

Building on a strong foundation is important. But why is that?

Why is it so important that we have a strong foundation under us?

Because we will face storms.

Look at what Jesus said as He spoke to the masses: the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house.

So, that tells us beyond a doubt that storms will come.

Jesus didn’t tell us this to scare us, but to warn us so that we could be wise in our choices and decisions and prepare for the storms of life by building on the one true foundation; God.

Storms do come. It’s a fact of life that we will never be able to change. Are we prepared for them?

That’s the question we need to be asking ourselves.

Let us heed His advice and build on the Rock, so we will not be easily tossed about or devastated when the storms do come.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-24-22

Mark 4:41 (NKJV) 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”

As a follower of Christ, I am constantly in awe at God and His wonders.

There are often times when I have trouble coming up with words for what I feel when I ponder on Him and who He is, especially when I consider the fact that He chose to save me and now dwells inside of me through the Holy Spirit.

It is mind-blowing, to say the least.

Now, let’s picture the disciples of Jesus as they began fearing for their lives while waves are coming over the sides of the boat.

They were truly in a life-or-death situation as the boat they were in was at risk of sinking.

And as they fretted over their situation, Jesus, the Messiah, the King of kings and Lord of lords, lay asleep in that same boat, unmoved by the commotion.

As things worsened and they began to understand that they were in imminent danger of sinking, they woke Jesus in a desperate plea for His help.

Jesus arose, rebuked the wind and sea. The wind ceased and there was a great calm.

This seemed to scare the disciples more than the wind and waves, as they asked each other, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?”.

This is Jesus, our Savior. The One who chose to take our place on the cross of Calvary and die for you and for me.

This is Jesus, the son of God, who came to walk the earth in human form, that we might know Him and that he could show us the Father through Him.

And this is Jesus, The Way, The Truth and The Life.

This is the One we follow and cling to with faith and hope for salvation. For in Him alone is life eternal.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-23-22

Matthew 3:8 (NKJV) 8 Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance…

As I recently finished reading through the Old Testament, and began the New Testament again, this verse caught my attention.

The New King James (NKJV) translation, which is shown above, doesn’t really stand out or draw a lot of attention. But when I looked at a couple other translations, the depth and importance of this verse became very, very clear and easy to see.

Here it is again, but in the New Living Translation (NLT).

Matthew 3:8 (NLT) 8 Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God.

This really leaps out when it comes to understanding what it means.

Now, because I don’t like to rely on only one translation for studying, I also checked two or three other translations, including the Amplified Bible (AMPC). Here’s what it said:

Matthew 3:8 (AMPC) 8 Bring forth fruit that is consistent with repentance [let your lives prove your change of heart];

In looking at this verse across the various translations, it becomes very clear that repentance is necessary in a believer’s life.

Repentance is the proof that our heart has been changed; we have been touched by the Spirit of God and changed by the blood of Christ.

You see, without (sincere, genuine) repentance, there is no difference between us and those who have never encountered Christ. We are the same.

The lives of believers should show fruit. And if we look at the verse at the very beginning of this devotional, we will see that the NKJV translation references this by saying, “bear fruits worthy of repentance”.

Our lives should bear fruit that proves that we have repented; turned from our sins and taken a new direction.

As the NLT states, “Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins”.

This is something that’s so important for us all to understand.

It is foundational to our walk with Christ.

And as the AMPC translation clearly states, “let your lives prove your change of heart”.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-21-22

Psalm 9:1 (NKJV) 1 I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works.

I will praise You for sure, Lord, and tell of all Your marvelous works. Oh, my Lord is so good!

Look around today and see the goodness of the Lord in the land in which we live. There are good things happening all around us. Growth and beauty everywhere!

We are living in the Southern United States since our move back in December. And boy, the birds here know how to sing. They are loud and beautiful!

I listen to them every morning, noon and night; every chance I get!

It sounds like they are in full praise.

Another thing here is there is lots of vitamin D from the sunshine. It is amazing. And, oh, the heat feels so good!

I have not been in the ocean yet to swim. It is still kind of cold. However, I have put my feet in and splashed it on me and it is so refreshing.

And the sky here is so big!

What I mean by that is that in RI we had a different terrain, with hills and lots of very big trees that covered a lot of the sky. Here it is very flat, so nothing blocks your view of the sky. And oh how pretty the sunsets and sunrises are!

I think we got a little closer to heaven.

God is good! You can find His art work all around us. And it shows His love for us all. His creative hand is everywhere we look.

Take time to admire it and give Him praise for all His marvelous work.
