Bible Verse of The Day – 4-8-22

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV) 1 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:

Seasons.

Our lives are made of them. We move from one season to another, even if we aren’t aware of it.

The more aware we are of this Biblical principle, the more easily we can navigate the various seasons.

On the other hand, though, if we are not aware of this, we will have great difficulties traversing from season to season.

Seasons can be good, or they can be bad. Some are a mix of both. This is how life works.

One of the biggest problems we run into is when we try hard to hang onto a particular season because we enjoyed it so much. This can cause some pretty bad repercussions for us if we do this.

When this happens, we tend to have one foot in the new season, while trying our hardest to keep the other foot in the season that’s passing. This can be very painful, end even disastrous if we don’t recognize it quickly enough and let go of what we were trying to hold onto.

The changing of seasons may not always be easily recognizable. But as we grow closer to God and we learn to discern the seasons, we will begin to see the changes more easily, saving ourselves a lot of difficulty and heartbreak.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-7-22

Proverbs 18:24 (NKJV) 24 A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

We all want a friend. Not some fly-by-night, but someone that will stick by our side through good times and bad times.

People are fickle sometimes. It can be hard to find a good friend.

When we do find someone to call our friend, it’s important to make sure that we are good to them and we respect them. Remember to give back. That is what makes a balanced friendship.

How many today have never found someone good that they can call on, but, you yourself are always there for others?

That is the way a lot of so-called friendships are; one way. Not much of a friendship at all for the one that is always giving, doing and putting forth the effort to keep it going.

It can be exhausting at times. And eventually we get burnt out and want to run away.

There is One, though, who will stand by our side; someone closer than a brother. And that’s pretty close.

He will be there for us no matter what we have to deal with. He even knows before we will have to deal with things and He goes before us to make sure things go right.

He protects, loves and listens to us, and we need to do the same for Him.

Listen, He is the best friend we could ever have. When He says come to me and rest, He means it. We can rest in His arms and He won’t get mad or upset because it requires effort on His part.

Matthew 11:28 (NKJV) 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Don’t be afraid today if you feel lonely and without a close friend. Reach out to the One who can hold us better than any other person ever could.

Jesus is there for us. Never will He leave us, even in the most disappointing moments and seasons of our lives. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-6-22

Ephesians 6:13 (NKJV) 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

One of our most recent teaching series focused on spiritual warfare, covering many aspects of what goes on behind the scenes, away from the natural eye.

We taught about principalities, powers, spiritual hosts of wickedness, etc.

What we didn’t teach on in that series was how to defend ourselves against those same evil spirits, and the attacks that they bring against us each and every day.

So, today we will touch on the foundational basics of our defense against them. Then, in the very near future, we will do another series that will continue where today’s teaching leaves off.

So, consider this to be a primer on self-defense against spiritual enemies.

In the verse above, we are told that we are to take up the whole armor of God.

Why is that?

It is so we may be able to withstand in the evil day, warding off these attacks.

And, what is the evil day?

It is, literally, every day that we face here on earth. The world is full of evil, and has been since the fall of man. The enemy is always in attack mode. It’s what he does.

Each day we face new attacks. And it is these attacks that we need to be able to defend ourselves against.

As we take up and wear the armor of God, look at what verse 13, above, says we are to do; and having done all, to stand.

This is pretty significant for us to understand.

When we have done all that we know, what do we do?

We stand.

We don’t quit. We don’t back down. We don’t shrink back. We don’t fall or falter and we don’t waver. We stand at all costs.

That is, after all, just what Jesus did for us. He stood at all costs, to fulfill His mission here on earth; to set us free from the grips of sin and death.

We will teach more on this very soon. In the meantime, hold fast and press in to Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-5-22

John 1:14 (NKJV) 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

The Holy Spirit planted God’s seed in a virgin. Her name was Mary.

The seed grew, and when the time was right, a baby was born. The child that was born was named Jesus; God in the flesh, the Savior of the world.

He lived among us, and carried out His everyday activities. He grew up and entered into His work doing only the will of His heavenly Father.

John 5:30 (NKJV) 30 I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.

They had purposed to save the lost; Jesus Christ, full of grace and truth, Who is willing to forgive us and show us how to make things right with the Father.

If we are struggling today with sin in our lives, we need to trust in Him, ask Him for forgiveness and let Him help us to get on the right track as we follow Him.

We are not alone in this world. God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit (our Helper), are here to help us every day. They will stand by us.

It is amazing how well God’s plan of salvation is laid out for us if we will call upon the name of Jesus and take His hand.

Trust Him today, and follow Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-4-22

Luke 19:2-4 (NKJV) 2 Now behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector, and he was rich. 3 And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was of short stature. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him, for He was going to pass that way.

Zacchaeus was a tax collector. The Bible says he was also a rich man. He had heard about Jesus, and when he found out that Jesus was coming by, he wanted badly to see Him!

The problem was that Zacchaeus was also a short man. So, the crowd around Jesus was a problem for him. There was no way that he would be able to see Jesus because of his short stature.

But Zacchaeus was determined, so he devised a plan to overcome his situation. He ran ahead and climbed a Sycamore tree, allowing him to see over the crowd and lay eyes on Jesus as He passed by.

Not only did he get to see Jesus, but Jesus saw him! And when Jesus saw him, He called him down out of the tree and made plans to go to his house to stay with him!

Now, had Zacchaeus just sat there and waited for Jesus to break out of the crowd and find him, he would have been left behind, still waiting to see Him. But he took action. And that action changed the outcome drastically.

So it is with us.

We may not have the opportunity to see Jesus physically passing by. But we have the opportunity to pursue Jesus daily, allowing us to draw closer to Him, strengthening our relationship with Him by doing so.

The question, though, is this; will we? Will we make the effort and take the time to do it?

Or will we be passive and casual about our walk with God?

Only we can answer that question. And the truth of the matter is that we will also be the one who will reap from our choice; pursue God relentlessly or pursue Him casually.

Which will it be?

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-2-22

Psalm 73:25-26 (NKJV) 25 Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You. 26 My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Don’t dwell in the land of negativity. Know that God is on our side, and He can turn things around.

Sometimes it may seem like He doesn’t move when we would like Him to. Or maybe He doesn’t move the way we would like Him to.

But if we trust Him and stay steadfast, knowing He will get to the bottom of it, He will. And it just might happen in ways we would have never dreamt of.

God likes to have something to work with. He loves when we give Him a sacrificial offering, so to speak. It shows Him we are really serious!

And it’s important that what we offer Him is not just what we want to give Him, but something He may want us to give up.

This is usually something we are going to feel the loss of. Things that cost us a little bit of discomfort will usually cause us to get serious.

It catches our attention when we give up things we enjoy having. Money and food are two very good examples of this!

They are two of the most important things that bring comfort to us.

How do we sacrifice our money and our food to God? Through tithes and fasting. When we are obedient in doing these things, we will see change.

We may be asking God, “what do we need to do today?”.

Here’s the answer to that question.

We need to stop the negative talk about how bad off we may be, and do something about it.

And what do we do about it?

We trust God with our sowing and fasting, knowing that He will provide for us in whatever we may be going through.

Get serious with Him. He is our strength. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-1-22

Philippians 4:8 (NKJV) 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

During these seasons of so much turmoil in the world, there is plenty that we could be thinking about that’s not necessarily fruitful for us.

There is negative activity all around us. We don’t even have to look hard to find it!

And while there may be some things related to current events that are necessary to discuss from time to time, it’s important that we don’t let ourselves get caught up in it or consumed by it.

Spending the hours of our days wrapped up in this type of thing will change us. It will cause us to be constantly angry and frustrated. And it will distract us from our walk with God if we’re not careful.

So, even when there are important things regarding the current state of the world that we need to discuss or be involved in for various reasons, we need to be careful to keep the things of God first on our list of priorities.

We need to continue to feed on His word. We need to continue to listen for the voice and the promptings of the Holy Spirit. And we need to continue to obey God’s leading, staying focused on things that are true, pure, noble, lovely, virtuous, of good report and praiseworthy.

If we’re careful to do this, we will find that we spend way less time frustrated and angry with what we see.

Trust God. He is still in control, even when it might look like the enemy is winning.
