Bible Verse of The Day – 3-31-22

John 1:12 (NKJV) 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name…

The right to become children of God; what a beautiful thing it is to become a child of God.

Do you see the verb, become, in this sentence? This means that we must take action in order to become a child of God. And that action is that we believe and receive Him.

We can’t expect this to just happen simply because our parents, our ministers or our friends are already children of God. We can’t expect that we will be a child of God because we do good things and make good choices.

There is action required for us to “become”. This is very important, and it can only be done by us. No one else can do it for us.

John 1:13 (NKJV) 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

This verse states that children of God are not born of man, but of God.

This is what Jesus referred to as being “born again”.

John 3:3 (NKJV) 3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

When Jesus said we must be born again, the word, “again”, literally means “from above”.

We are not born all over again, as a natural baby is born. It is of God.

Our spirit man comes alive as we receive Him and believe in His name; the name of Jesus Christ.

Once this happens, we will want our spirit to grow and learn all about His will for us and the things that please Him.

We are a new creation. He has begun a new work in us.

John 4:34 (NKJV) 34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-30-22

John 1:14 (NKJV) 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

“The Word became flesh”.

This is probably one of the most profound realities in the entirety of God’s word.

If we were to try to figure this out with our human minds, it would be impossible to do.

Even with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can only barely begin to comprehend a tiny piece of it. And the fulness of its meaning and its implications is beyond our understanding, no matter how educated we are in matters of Biblical understanding and training.

God is eternal. He does not have a creator. He is the Creator of everything, including you and me. Everything we see is His. Everything.

The Word. How can the word become flesh? After all, a word is just something written or spoken, right?

That’s what our minds would tend to think.

But, you see, we’re not talking about an ordinary word. We’re talking about The Word; Jesus Christ.

Revelation 19:13 (NKJV) 13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.

Jesus Christ took on human form to be able to come and dwell among us.

The word, dwelt, literally means “to pitch a tabernacle”, or “to live in a tent”.

And so, Jesus pitched His tent among humans, becoming like us for a time, so He could walk with us, experience what we experience, and teach us of God, one on one, face to face.

This in itself is overwhelming to try to fathom. God is pure and holy, yet He chose to come and live with us for a season.

This alone shows His love and compassion for us all. And the price He paid for our sins should “seal the deal” in our hearts and minds, assuring us that He wants only to love us and draw us unto Himself.

Love Him today with your whole heart. And let the reality of His eternal nature and incomprehensible love permeate your being. Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-29-22

Deuteronomy 22:4 (NKJV) 4 “You shall not see your brother’s donkey or his ox fall down along the road, and hide yourself from them; you shall surely help him lift them up again.

Helping our brothers is something God commands us to do. It’s not an option. He counts on us to help them.

We are His hands and feet, He uses us to lift each other up.

One way of helping someone is by using our experience from  what we have already been through.

Our trials are a huge lesson to us. The knowledge we gained from them can also be a tool to use to help others.

Don’t get discouraged today if you are going through a hard situation. God will get you through it when you trust Him. And what you’re going through now will give you an opportunity to help someone else as well.

The best feeling in the world is coming out the other end of a trial and then helping our brothers/sisters that are going through the same thing.

Being a part of lifting them up and seeing them move forward is better than a raise, a promotion, or any feeling that a material thing can offer.

What a satisfying, fulfilling, and completed feeling to see someone advance in their situation. Nothing can beat that.

Go through it. And then take it a step further and let God use your experience to help others. Amen.

Bible Verse of the Day – 3-28-22

John 4:34 (NKJV) 34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.

Many of the things that Jesus said and taught really messed with the heads of those who heard Him.

Even His disciples had a hard time wrapping their human minds around His words. And this verse above is another example of that.

The disciples wrestled with their human thinking on many, many occasions. They wrestled with understanding things of a spiritual nature.

As they spent time with Jesus, they saw that He didn’t always take time to eat meals when they did. He would often go to a place of solitude and not even bother eating while He prayed and sought the Father.

They, being purely human, grew concerned about the welfare of Jesus since they knew that He didn’t eat as frequently as they did.

So, when they inquired of Jesus about this, He answered them. And His answer caused them to scratch their heads and wonder what He was talking about.

Jesus was not of this world. He was God in the flesh, God and man rolled into one. He ate natural food, but it wasn’t what “made Him tick”, so to speak.

He thrived on doing the will of the Father. That’s what satisfied Him and fulfilled Him.

That’s what fed Him.

As we grow and mature in our relationship with God, our appetite should also lean less toward natural food and more toward “food of which others do not know”.

John 4:32 (NKJV) 32 But He said to them, “I have food to eat of which you do not know.”

This will usually happen without us even noticing it at first, a little at a time.

And though natural food is good, food of which others do not know is much better!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-26-22

1 Corinthians 12:28 (NKJV) 28 And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.

Today we want to talk about the gift of “helps”. Yes, it’s real! And many of us have it and don’t realize it.

Sometimes we struggle with how to help people; what to say, how to say it, or what to do and when to do it.

Do our ears perk up when we hear about a need or problem? Do we find ourselves crying out in prayer for someone that we don’t personally know?

Many times I find myself going to God and asking Him if I am neglecting anyone. Part of my personality is to see things resolved. I love to see happy endings, and if I can be a part of it, it makes my day!

It’s pretty much what makes me happy and what I live for.

I love helping people, and when I can’t or it’s out of my hands, I find it very difficult.

Knowing my help comes from God, even in this I have to reach out for Him to bring clarity. Why God, why? Why do I have to wait, or why do I have to pull back?

If you are like me (with the same personality type), if I could say one thing to you today, it would be this; “God knows. And He will let us know when, how and where to let our gift of helps be used”.

Don’t get discouraged if right now you are not able to help that situation, person, etc.

It’s not that you don’t want to. God knows you’re willing. Remember, it’s His to see through and for us to be ready when He says go.

Sometimes, because we love to help so much, if we are not careful we can interfere with what He is doing.

Let Him guide us in the gift of helping others, and trust Him to let us know the timing and the how of it all.

I’m giving Him the glory today, even as He sets me straight at times! God knows I need it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-25-22

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (NKJV) 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ…

Referring to Christians as warriors is a common theme in the New Testament. And rightly so. As believers we are obligated to wage war on the enemies of God.

And as we have stated many times in past devotionals and videos, our enemies are not fleshly (people). They are spiritual (evil spirits, demons, etc.).

As such, our weapons of war are not carnal (of the flesh). They are also spiritual.

These weapons are mighty for pulling down strongholds.

What is a stronghold?

It is a fortress, bunker, tower garrison or other type of fortified place that is designed to be impenetrable or very hard to break into.

Paul used this word because the people of Corinth were familiar with it. Corinth had a fortress in which people of the city could take refuge in times of great danger.

You see, the (spiritual) weapons that God has supplied us with are mighty. So mighty, in fact, that they can be used to pull down those strongholds that the enemy may choose to hide in.

And powerful enough to cast down every argument and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.

So, what is this weapon that is so powerful; powerful enough to crush the enemy?

It is the truth of God’s word.

No other weapon is so strong as to have the power to crush the enemies of God.

Truth will annihilate lies every time the two are brought face to face.

Lies cannot negate truth. No matter what a liar says, it does not change truth. It only tries to mask it.

But the truth is so powerful, it will cause evil (lies) to run and hide in an attempt to stay out of the light that truth shines.

This is our battle; to assault error (lies, mistruth, falsehoods, etc.) with truth.

And it is this truth that renders the enemy, his minions and his strongholds powerless and ineffective.

Be mighty warriors in this eternal battle between truth and lies!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-24-22

Deuteronomy 1:33 (NKJV) 33 who went in the way before you to search out a place for you to pitch your tents, to show you the way you should go, in the fire by night and in the cloud by day.

God will always go before His people!

This doesn’t mean that He will make it effortless, although some people may think that because He’s God He will do everything for us.

We have to be strong, for there will be areas we are not familiar or comfortable with.

It takes a people who are dedicated and who will not faint in times of tribulation, but know where to pull their strength from; Him and His word!

They will go out of their way to do what needs to be done and they will not shrink back in the face of danger.

These people will not focus on what they want or prefer. And they will not give up when things get hard.

Instead, they will focus on what God asks of them, and then go for it, pressing onward, no matter the cost.

When we trust God with our lives and let Him lead, He will definitely show us the path to take. But He won’t take it for us.

It’s kind of like being on call; ready to go, take directions and do what needs to be done.

Isaiah 43:16 (NKJV) 16 Thus says the Lord, who makes a way in the sea And a path through the mighty waters…

Praise be to God!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-23-22

Matthew 6:25 (NKJV) 25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

As I was browsing through various verses today, I found three different references to worrying that were all spoken by Jesus, and all very close together in the same chapter.

As I read through each of them, it became abundantly clear to me that Jesus was trying to drive home a very important point to those who were listening to Him speak at that moment.

What point? Do not worry. It’s a waste of our precious time here on earth.

In the verse above, Jesus tells us not to worry about what we will eat, drink or wear.

Wait. What?

Aren’t these the things we tend to worry about the most? After all, we need food, drink and clothing. They are the most basic essentials for survival.

Then, in verse 31, He says it again, telling us, “Do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?”.

It would seem like this is a pretty important point if He is trying so hard to drive it home, right?

Then, in verse 34 He says this; “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”.

Now, it might seem from these 3 pieces of scripture that Jesus is simply telling us that we shouldn’t worry. And while it’s true that He is telling us not to worry, it’s important that we understand why He’s saying this.

To figure that out, we need to go back to verse 24.

Matthew 6:24 (NKJV) 24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

You see, once we put it into its proper context, we understand that Jesus is referring to the fact that too many people spend their lives chasing, and attempting to amass wealth; vast amounts of riches.

And that’s His point. Do what is necessary to live and fulfill your basic needs, but don’t waste your life away spending your time and effort trying to amass great wealth while allowing that pursuit to come before your relationship with God.

Serve God, not mammon (riches).

Serving money will cause us to become its slave. Whereas serving God will set us free.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-22-22

Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV) 6 Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.

Train up a child in the way they should go.

This responsibility has been placed solely in the hands of parents.

It’s big!

But God will not leave us on our own to do this. He will guide us through every step with His manual to life, His Word, the Bible.

He can only help us if we are reading it.

There are days when we may not want to because of everything else pulling on us. We are just so busy.

As we let other things creep in and we neglect to stay in the Word of God, things will get harder for us and our children will suffer.

We will try to make the right decisions for our children, but fail at times and wonder why.

Many times it’s because we lack what comes from God’s word.

It gives us strength. It gives us wisdom. It gives us encouragement. It gives us direction for both, us as the parents, and our children.

When we have children in our home, we need it. We are on a mission. And raising godly children in this day and age is a mission in and of itself, more so than ever before!

It is a daily fight to keep our kids in line and on track. It’s a fight some days just to keep ourselves in line and on track.

But here’s a gentle reminder; if we don’t keep them in the word of God, they will not do it themselves. We have to be the ones.

Parents, feed them God’s word. We get just so much time with them to do this and then they go out on their own. Let us invest our time into our babes. And then when they leave home, it’s in them.

It’s all God asks of us to do for them. And then we get to enjoy the fruit of it!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-21-22

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NKJV) 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

These two verses hold a lot of truth that can truly help us once we understand the full meaning of them.

Let’s focus on the latter half of verse 3 and then the entirety of verse 4.

Paul referred to God as the Father of mercies and God of all comfort.

The word, comfort, has some deep connotations that we should understand.

Most people think of comfort as something soft and soothing.

But in this verse, Paul was using a different form of the Greek word for comfort that points toward the fact that God came to him in his sufferings and troubles, giving him strength, courage and boldness.

You see, sometimes we don’t need a soft, gentle touch to make us feel better.

Sometimes we need someone to help us move forward, with boldness and strength, and with the courage to take whatever steps we need to take to accomplish what’s in front of us that we need to get done.

Paul knew that as he faced the crushing pressures of the tribulations that were always coming against him, God would always strengthen him.

Take courage today, drawing your courage, boldness and strength from God, our Creator and Sustainer, knowing that He will give us everything that we need to do what He has called us to do, even if it’s just walking through whatever trial we might be facing at the moment.

He is faithful. Trust Him.
