Bible Verse of The Day – 2-17-22

John 14:2 (NKJV) 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

We Lost a wonderful friend this past week. She was 85 years old and loved the Lord tremendously.

I don’t know how she found us. But when she did, we wrote back and forth frequently, and we became very good friends.

She would even get on me if we were traveling and didn’t let her know when we had arrived at our destination.

We believe our friendship was divine; of God. Like many others have, she was doing a search at some point in the past and stumbled upon My Bible Verse of The Day.

Though we will miss her terribly, we rejoice in knowing that we have been blessed with her friendship and that she is now in the presence of God. How do we know this? Because of her relationship in Christ Jesus.

Oh, how our heart aches, but yet also rejoices!

How can that be? It’s the love of God and His presence in our lives that connects us as brothers and sisters in Christ. We are one in Him.

Today, as we sit here missing our good friend already (wishing we could get one more email from her), we know she is with God and in our Heavenly home.

What is she doing? That we don’t know. But we can just imagine she must truly be in awe and happy beyond what words can describe!

May God bless everyone today who is feeling the loss of someone dear. They may have left us here, but God has them.

The same God that holds them, holds us. Let Him comfort us and fill the emptiness.

We will see them again in the place where He has gone before us, and we will celebrate eternal life together.

John 17:3 (NKJV) 3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-16-22

Proverbs 21:21 (NKJV) 21 He who follows righteousness and mercy Finds life, righteousness, and honor.

One thing that I’ve learned as a child of God is that walking with Him isn’t as difficult as some might think, or some might make it seem.

Yes, God is mysterious in some ways, simply because He is God.

But the concept of following Him isn’t nearly as difficult as we are often led to believe.

Look at the scripture above. Note its simplicity and directness; follow righteousness and mercy, and find life, righteousness and honor.

See how simple that is?

If we want righteousness, we need to seek righteousness. And if we add to that mercy, we will find life, as well as honor.

On the other hand, if we seek hatred, discord and chaos, we will find such things. We find what we seek. And we reap what we sow.

If we want our relationship with God to flourish, we need to seek Him wholeheartedly. We need to put Him first in everything; yes, every aspect of our lives.

If we hold back on some things, or in some areas of our lives, we will grow and benefit only in certain areas. The areas where we hold back will remain fruitless or weak.

So, what do we need to do?

To do justly, love mercy and walk humbly before our God.

Micah 6:8 (NKJV) 8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?

This is not that difficult. And He will equip us to do just that if we sincerely ask Him to do so.

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-15-22

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Amen.

This is a promise from God.

These words are for us to hold onto when things don’t look good around us, when financial setbacks hit home, when we get a bad test result, when our children begin to rebel or get on a wrong path or when our marriage starts to get rocky.

Remember, God is there for us as we seek Him and His kingdom first.

Worrying won’t do us a bit of good. Don’t fret. either. That will cause us to have anxiety, which leads to other health issues.

Seek God in the storm. Seek God in the valley, when things are low. Seek God when you are on the mountain, and shout out His goodness to all those that have ears to hear.

If we follow His words, we will walk in His promises. We are God’s children. And as we seek His kingdom, we will be OK. Hallelujah!

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-14-22

Psalm 116:1-2 (NLT) 1 I love the Lord because he hears my voice and my prayer for mercy. 2 Because he bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath!

Over the last few months, I have done a lot of pondering on the path that my life has taken.

I was not raised in a Christian home. My parents were not bad people. In fact, they were very good, honest people who taught us to work hard, love and respect others and not to expect to have anything handed to us. We were to work for what we wanted.

Things changed for me, though, when I met a girl who was just 16 years old. I was 18 at the time. This young woman gave me a gift that began to change my heart.

It was a men’s necklace with a cross hanging on it.

I wasn’t sure how to feel about it at first. I loved it because it was from her, and she had thought enough of me to give it to me. But the cross kind of caught me off guard at first.

I had no real understanding of Biblical things. I had a vague idea that God was out there somewhere, and I knew the story of Jesus, but that was pretty much the full extent of my Biblical knowledge.

But that cross hanging around my neck started to cause me to think. And my terrible habit of using the names of God and Christ as a cuss word began to change. It brought conviction to my heart; something I had never felt before.

Less than two years later, I had put my faith and trust in Christ. And I have no problem at all sharing with you how much I love my God and my Savior now.

He took me and cleaned me up. He made me a new creation. He created a new heart within me. And I’m thankful beyond words for that.

I’m also thankful for Pastor Ellie, the young woman who gave me that cross necklace. We got married on March 12 of 1983, and we never looked back.

God has taken us on a great adventure, and we know He’s not finished yet!

Never doubt God. Never underestimate His ability to bring change. And never overlook or discount what he can do in your heart.

All we need to do is surrender to Him.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-12-22

Matthew 6:24 (NKJV) 24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

Wealth and popularity.

Those are the words I heard recently during prayer; two very big things people chase after in this day and age.

This is a dangerous road to be on.

There is nothing wrong with being wealthy, and there is nothing wrong with being popular, as long as they don’t distract us from the things of God.

You would think on the surface that wealth and popularity are awesome! It’s a good thing, right? But it’s not if we let it run us.

The church is in great danger because of it. And because of this, the church has lost its focus on a large scale.

We, God’s children, have let it become more of a god than a tool. And that is the danger.

We forgot the reason why we live and breathe.

Seeking wealth and popularity has blindsided so many believers today that they’ve lost their identity and foundation.

Who does God say to seek after? Him and His kingdom!

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

God’s WORD is our answer and our fulfillment. His Son, and what He did for us, has made us whole and rich in Him; not in wealth, nor in popularity.

Here are some of the things to be aware of:

Always talking about our financial achievements.

Always looking to please and keep ourselves happy with big things.

Always thinking of wealth and how to prosper.

Always looking for feel-good messages and people that are of that same mindset.

In other words, we receive no correction, nothing to challenge us or to help us become stronger in our walk with God. Our only influence is in growing wealthy and popular.

We are never concerned about growing and changing.

Feeding and nourishing our spirit man never crosses our minds.

We want to encourage you today to chase only after Jesus Christ and His kingdom.

Forget about pursuing wealth. Forget about popularity.

He is our answer to receive the most important things in this world; love, peace, joy and eternal life through Him.

Don’t trade Him in for anything else. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-11-22

2 Corinthians 6:17 (NKJV) 17 Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.”

As followers of Christ, children of God, we have been called to “come out from among them”, and to separate ourselves from the world.

There is a natural, literal side to this, and a spiritual, symbolic side as well.

We are not being called to literally live apart, separate, from the rest of the world. If we were to do that, we would never be able to show them God’s love, mercy and grace, drawing them to Him.

We are, however, supposed to separate ourselves from the world when it comes to our actions; our behavior!

If we claim to follow Christ, but we live, act and talk like the rest of the world, then how different are we really?

You see, we are called to stand out, be different than those around us.

This is not a call to speak “Christianese” and quote scripture to everyone we meet or encounter.

It is a call to follow and live by the word of God, allowing Him to mold us and shape us into who He wants us to be. And by doing so, He will make us unique, different than others in so many ways.

Our job as children of God is not to try to be different and to stand out.

It is, instead, to let Him make us who He has destined us to be. It is in that where we will find our true identity and our “uniqueness” in Christ.

And it is in that where we will be a shining light, an example to those around us, walking out our faith in a way that draws people to God by His grace, mercy and love being lived out in us every day.

Come out from among them and be separate.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-10-22

Psalm 37:23-24 (NKJV) 23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way. 24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the Lord upholds him with His hand.

To know that God will still uphold us with His hand when we make mistakes brings great comfort. He is a forgiving God, our salvation!

This does not, however, mean that we should continue to make wrong choices on purpose, knowing that He will forgive and help us get out of our bind.

If we know what we are about to do is wrong and we do it anyway, that is plain old rebellion, not a mistake.

That is being hard-hearted, stubborn and unwilling to change. That is taking a chance. And eventually, if we do this enough, it will destroy our relationship with God.

Philippians 2:12 (NKJV) 12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling…

Obedience is what pleases our Father. We should always be  moving and pushing ourselves to do the right thing in any given situation.

He is watching our hearts, where our actions will come from.

This is where the steps of a good man or woman come from. And though we may fall at times, it won’t be on purpose, but a sincere mistake.

Usually when this happens, it’s because of our weakness in a specific area. This is where God will help us if we go to Him humbly and ask.

He will bring changes to help us become stronger in that area.

God will uphold us as we sincerely obey Him. He is our strength!

Exodus 15:2 (NKJV) 2 The Lord is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation; He is my God, and I will praise Him; My father’s God, and I will exalt Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-9-22

Jeremiah 29:13 (NKJV) 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Since we moved into our new home in North Carolina, back in late December, I’ve found myself being very busy every day.

Being the man of the home, there has been lots for me to do in the way of assembling and setting up furniture, desks and computers, as well as installing, mounting and hanging things like blinds, curtain rods, mirrors, etc.

Additionally, we have been learning a whole new area where we live, which adds to the challenge of moving.

All of this busyness presents a challenge when it comes to managing my time properly.

My walk with God comes first and foremost in my life, regardless of what else is happening. So, when I find myself getting too caught up in “household tasks”, I make sure to stay balanced, being sure to set aside the time to stay close to God as well.

You see, just like most things in life, we get out what we put in. This applies to our walk with God as well.

The more time and effort we give, the more the relationship will grow and flourish.

So, as we navigate this time of being very busy, and being pulled in a hundred different directions every day, we are also careful to stay accountable to God, not because we fear discipline or chastening, but because we treasure our walk with Him more than anything else and don’t want even a hint of separation between Him and us.

After all, He has assured us in His word that as we do our part, He will do His.

Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV) 3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-8-22

James 4:10 (NKJV) 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.

This is one of the most crucial things we can learn to do as a believer. Being sincerely humble in His sight will cause things to change.

It can’t be fake. It can’t be temporary. It has to be sincere and consistent.

As believers of our Lord and Savior, we must understand the importance of allowing the Holy Spirit to help us remain in such a place in our heart.

Walking in humility is letting go of things we once had control of, and allowing God to teach us a whole new way of doing things.

We let Him be our leader. We talk to Him and ask Him to guide our steps.

We have seen some awesome things take place because we have allowed God to be the leader of this ministry and over our personal lives as well.

Our heart is to serve Him and do it His way. We don’t chase after our desires any longer. We long to see His desires come to pass.

Tremendous things take place when we walk out humility. When it is functioning and moving in our hearts, God will touch every area of our lives.

We love you all dearly, and we are believing that God is touching your heart right now.

Let Him lead us toward what we need to let go of, and let Him have it fully. Follow Him through, and our situation will change. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-7-22

1 Kings 19:11-12 (NKJV) 11 Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; 12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.

God speaks softly, sometimes almost silently.

He wants us to be ever so diligent with our listening, able to hear Him even in the midst of storms, chaos, and even in the heat of intense battles.

This doesn’t come naturally to us as humans. It’s a learned skill; a skill that only comes by way of the power of the Holy Spirit and diligence on our part. But it’s a skill that’s absolutely necessary if we wish to flourish as children of God.

Because God speaks in “whispers”, it can sometimes be easy for us to miss. And this is where we get into trouble.

When God speaks, especially when He speaks to convict us or warn us of sin, we need to be diligent and careful to hear and listen. Not hearing is dangerous. But hearing and ignoring what we hear can lead us down an even more dangerous path.

Ignoring the voice or the promptings of God opens the door to sin. Sin in our lives creates a gap between us and God.

And if we continue to ignore the voice or the promptings of God, we will slowly become desensitized to His voice, leading to our spirit becoming dull and unresponsive to Him. This will eventually cause a separation between us and Him that is truly detrimental to our spirits, since it will open the door to more and more sin in our lives.

We need to pay close attention to God’s voice. It’s the lifeblood of our walk with Him. And without that lifeblood flowing in us, our spirit can eventually wither up and die.
