Bible Verse of The Day – 10-20-21

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

As believers, the word of God is our source of truth.

It is true and trustworthy.

Because of this, we need to be careful that we never allow the ways of the world to sway our thoughts on the things that the Bible states as absolutes.

This typically isn’t an issue for most believers. We see what God’s word says, and we know that it means what it says. We don’t question it or contradict it because of the opinions of the world.

If we’re not careful, though, we will begin to allow certain types of information to change our views on what some call “social issues”.

As a case in point, if we were to look at what the Bible says about specific sins (1 Corinthians 6:9-10), we would readily admit and agree that it says they are wrong; thievery, drunkenness, idolatry, fornication, adultery, covetousness and extortion.

Sadly, because of the influence of the world, and because of rhetoric that we have been bombarded with, many believers will draw a line when it comes to other certain sins that the Bible says are just as wrong as those listed above.

The most notable of these is homosexuality.

Because we have been inundated with so much information the last 20 years about homosexuality, and because the world now openly promotes it in the mass media, many in the body of Christ are now hurling insults at any believer who still takes God’s word at face value and believes that this is still a sin.

The terrible irony lies in the fact that we could name the 8 sins immediately above, and nobody would argue. Everyone would nod in agreement that these are sins. Why? Because God’s word says they are.

But when it comes to homosexuality and sodomy, the same people will dig their heels in and proclaim loudly that, 1. they aren’t sure if it’s a sin or, 2. we are judging people if we say it’s a sin.

Do you see the contradictory nature of this?

Why has this happened? Why will people so easily agree that 8 of those 10 behaviors are sinful, but then balk at the other two, even though they are all listed together as a group?

Because it has been “normalized” by the world, and because our minds have been affected by the onslaught of information that we have been hit with for the last two decades.

People of God, it’s time that we see the ways of the world for what they are. We need to recognize the rhetoric when we hear it and see it, and tell the purveyors of such information, “no, thank you”.

And we need to ask God to transform us by the renewing of our minds, that we will still take Him at His word.

This is not an expose` on the evils of homosexuality. It is simply an effort to unveil one of the ways that the enemy subtly sneaks into the minds of the saints of God, and whispers quietly into our ear, “did God really say that?”, just as he did with Eve in the garden so many centuries ago.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-19-21

Matthew 12:33 (NKJV) 33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit.

A tree is known by its fruit.

These are words to teach us and help us discern the good from the bad.

Jesus shared this to let us know that He can’t always be there to protect us and save us from people that have bad fruit.

He shows us what to watch out for.

When we see someone with bad fruits, and they are okay with those bad fruits, that can tell us a lot. We need to see these things and move very carefully before getting into a relationship or friendship with them. Bad trees bear bad fruit.

Now, no one is perfect, so there is a balance.

We have to be careful not to walk away from those people that have bad habits. They may be sincerely trying hard to change

Sometimes it takes time to see the fruit from the changes they’re trying to make.

There is a difference.

The difference between the two types is that one will love what they are doing and couldn’t care less about changing.

The other will be asking for advice, asking for prayer and trying to make the right changes. They just are struggling because they haven’t’ quite gotten a handle on it yet, and they fall short at times.

Pray for those today that are sincerely trying to change the fruit that they bear, but may be struggling at times.

James 5:16 (NKJV) 16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Our prayers are powerful through the blood of Jesus!

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-18-21

Matthew 7:22-23 (NKJV) 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!

Many might read this and think that Jesus is referring to those we might consider “unsaved” in our eyes; those who live ungodly lives and are easily recognized as unbelievers.

But look more closely. What does Jesus say they did?

They prophesied in His name, cast out demons and performed wonders in His name. That doesn’t really describe anyone who is easily recognized as an unbeliever, does it?

You see, there are (and will continue to be) many who “walked the aisle”. There will be many who “prayed the prayer”. And even many who “repented and asked for forgiveness”.

And yet, the hearts of those never changed. They walked through all of the outward motions, but they never allowed God to touch their heart and bring genuine change.

These people look, for all appearance’ sake, like believers; followers of Christ.

They speak the right words, act the right way at the right time, etc. But deep inside, they are the same person they have always been; dead in their sin.

I can recall a short period of time where I was that person. I had “walked the aisle” and “prayed the prayer”. And though I “felt something” when I took those steps, I didn’t change right away.

I still cussed up a blue streak. I still drank (and got drunk). I still lived like the world.

But at some point after that, I finally “got it”. I felt God’s Spirit tugging at my heart, wooing me, calling me to truly repent and let Him in.

And when I finally surrendered, I knew it. And it was outwardly obvious that I was beginning to be transformed into a new person; a person who had been touched by God in a life-changing way.

It’s important for us to understand that we don’t need to “walk an aisle” or “pray a specific prayer” to be saved. We just need to genuinely, wholly surrender to God, recognizing that we are lost and need His grace and mercy over our lives, through the sacrifice that was made on the cross by Jesus Christ.

This is not to say that “walking an aisle” is bad. Nor is “praying a specific prayer” to ask for God’s forgiveness. But they are not Biblically required or necessary in order for us to be born again.

The work was already done for us when Jesus died and rose again, making a way for us to be saved from our flesh and the sin that dominates us. All we need to do is sincerely, genuinely embrace that gift and then live it out.

Let’s not be one who walks an aisle and recites a prayer, and then goes on to live life as though God never touched us. Because the truth of the matter is, if we live like that, He probably never did touch us.

And that puts us in grave danger of being one of those mentioned above, where Jesus says “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!”.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-16-21

Psalm 34:18 (NKJV) 18 The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit.

The brokenhearted are on our hearts today.

If you have been broken, this is for you.

It’s not easy. It hurts. And sometimes you just feel like you can’t take it, or even want to take it one more day.

It feels like the ache goes away, and then comes back again when we least expect it.

And even though we tell ourselves, “This is the last time I’m going to get sad over this”, don’t be surprised if it shows up again and again.

We want you to know today that it’s alright to cry and get it out, even if it happens at times when we wish it didn’t.

It’s not easy to hold back that ache in your heart. So don’t beat yourself up over it.

He is near. He heals, He removes, He is our Helper.

He is our Great Physician. Don’t rush Him. Let Him do His work in you.

Cry it out; have your time.

Don’t get mad at yourself or anyone else. Let it take its course.

But don’t let it stay forever. When God heals, He heals it completely.

He brings good out of very hard and tragic situations. Let Him heal our brokenness today, so we can dance and laugh again.

Ecclesiastes 3:4 (NKJV) 4 A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance…

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-15-21

Luke 17:26-27 (NKJV) 26 And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: 27 They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.

Things in the world have changed rapidly over the last few years.

We are living in a critical time in history.

We may not necessarily be on the edge of the rapture. Only God the Father knows the day and the time for that.

We are, however, living in times when we need to be awake, alert, vigilant and actively discerning what we are witnessing all around us.

Almost everyone will readily admit that things today are vastly different than they were even a few years ago.

We need to let God show us why they’ve changed.

This doesn’t imply a need for us to understand all of it, but we do need to at least recognize it and acknowledge it as being so.

We need to see the signs. And then we need to let God show us how to respond to what we’re seeing.

He will prompt us and show us. We just need to be sure we’re paying attention and heeding those promptings.

Are we sensing or feeling lately like He might be telling us to do something out of the ordinary from time to time; something outside of our normal habits?

Maybe we’ve felt like we need to buy extra groceries. Maybe He’s prompting us to handle our money differently; cut back on unnecessary spending, or move our money from one account to another, etc.

These are just examples, but recognizing them might help us better understand what God is trying to show us.

Maybe we have felt this, but we’ve just brushed it off because we didn’t understand it.

God will speak to each of us based on our own situations, because each of our circumstances are different.

But even in that, there will often be a common thread from one believer to another, since God is the same, and speaks the same message to everyone, albeit it in different ways.

It’s critical that we are careful to pay attention to God’s promptings and the leading of the Holy Spirit.

As He is faithful to lead, let us also be faithful to follow.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-14-21

Psalm 34:1 (NKJV) 1 I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

Some days, whether I’m out in my yard or driving down the road, something in me will just say, “Hallelujah!”.

My mind is not thinking of anything in particular when this happens, other than just praising Him.

All on its own it goes into praise mode. What is that?

That is our spirit man; the part of us that connects and communes with God.

Our spirit man is the part of us that is ready to praise, no matter what we are doing, no matter what we are facing, no matter how we feel.

Our spirit man, when we have been saved, is quickened (made alive), and stands at attention for Him.

If we wait on the flesh to want to praise God, we will be waiting for everything to be going just right. And how often does that happen?

But, if we let our spirit man lead, get ready to sing praises or speak words of honor to Him at anytime, day or night.

Even in the hardest of times we will catch ourselves saying, “I praise you Lord, for You are good!”.

We will find ourselves blessing the Lord all day long. We will be like David, with His praises continually on our tongue!

If we can quiet our flesh long enough, our spirit man will rise up with praises, and our flesh will join in!

Psalm 113:3 (NKJV) 3 From the rising of the sun to its going down The Lord’s name is to be praised.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-13-21

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Most times, we hear this verse quoted regarding receiving some kind of financial or material blessings from God. It’s kind of become the norm to hear this verse and expect that kind of message to follow.

But this verse is much more far-reaching than that.

The principles behind this verse apply to every aspect of our lives.

You see, seeking God and His righteousness goes far beyond whatever material blessings we might (or might not) receive in return.

Every aspect of our lives is impacted by the strength of our relationship with our Creator and Father, through the Son.

Our attitude is affected. The joy in our life is affected. Our willingness to obey God’s leading is affected. The way we interact with others is affected. And our willingness to give to others is affected.

This list could be quite lengthy, but this should be sufficient to make the point we want to make.

So, in light of that, what “things” are added to our lives when we seek the kingdom of God first?

Peace that surpasses all understanding.

Joy that is beyond what words can express.

Stability that cannot be found in the things of the world.

Strength that can help us slay giants.

Faith that can move mountains.

Knowledge and understanding beyond our intellectual understanding.

Wisdom that confounds even the most learned scholars.

Humility.

And most of all, eternal life with the Father, through Christ.

So, before we do anything else, let’s be sure to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-12-21

Matthew 16:13 (NKJV) 13 When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?

The disciples spoke up and said, “some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets”.

Jesus then said, “who do you say that I am?”.

Simon Peter spoke right up and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God”.

Matthew 16:15 (NKJV) 15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?

You have here two different answers.

You have the first answer, from the intellectual mind, that could only relate to what it sees on its own; John the Baptist, Elijah, Jeremiah or a prophet.

Then, you have the second answer that only God can reveal through the Holy Spirit; The Christ, the Son of the living God.

Jesus told Peter, “blessed are you, for flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven”.

He also told Peter that on that rock He will build His church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.

What rock will He build His church on? The truth that was revealed to Peter by the Spirit of God.

When Peter gave his answer, it showed that he was tuned into hearing the Holy Spirit.

This marked a turning point, and Jesus began to teach them about the things He must suffer, including His death on the cross and then His resurrection.

Matthew 16:21 (NKJV) 21 From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.

Jesus was now able to move forward and take the next steps toward His purpose here on earth.

As we stay open and connected with the Holy Spirit, He will give us wisdom, knowledge and understanding deep within ourselves; something the mind can never get on its own.

We teach frequently about drawing close to God. This is the very reason for that; so we can have His understanding on all things.

Don’t be afraid of the Holy Spirit. He is our Helper.

John 14:26 (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-11-21

Luke 5:31 (NKJV) 31 Jesus answered and said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.

As Jesus sat and ate with tax collectors and others, the scribes and Pharisees saw this. And they complained; “Why do You eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”.

Jesus was very matter of fact as He answered; “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick”.

We often hear this used when teaching about sharing the gospel with the unsaved.

Today, though, let’s take a look at it from a different point of view.

The sick that Jesus referred to included you and I at one time. We were “sick”, unwell, dead in our sins.

We were in need of a Savior and His forgiveness. We just didn’t know it at the time.

We were liars, thieves, adulterers, fornicators, drunkards, blasphemers, etc.

1 Corinthians 6:11 (NKJV) 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

But by the grace of God, and the blood of Christ, we have been cleansed and made whole!

Our sins have been forgiven; washed away. And we have been sanctified in His death and resurrection, made alive by His Spirit.

It is good for us to remember this from time to time. Not so we are ashamed of it, but so we remember from where He brought us.

And, so we can be reminded to thank Him for His incredible grace and mercy in our lives.

Amen
