Bible Verse of The Day – 7-31-21

Jeremiah 32:17 (NKJV) 17 ‘Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You.

Nothing is too hard for HIM! Amen.

He made the heavens and the earth by His great power and outstretched arm. Why do we worry? Why do we wonder? Why would we even have any concerns about how things are going to turn out?

Why? Because our first initial fleshly instinct is to do just that; worry!

But in God’s word, He teaches us not to. He tells us that it doesn’t do us any good.

Matthew 6:34 (NKJV) 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

If we learn to stay close to Him at all times, we will listen to what He is telling us and trust that He will take care of us.

And if we believe in what He shows us by His Spirit, we will soon see it take place in the natural.

His great power and outstretched arm will reach us right where we are at.

He will help us, and we will look back only to say, “Goodbye” to whatever mountain that needed to be moved!

God is good. There is nothing too hard for Him; not our problem, nor our child’s problem. Not our financial problem, not our trying to find a home to live in problem, etc. None of this is too hard for Him.

Catch your breath today. Sit down and pour out your heart to the ONE who created the heavens and the earth. Let Him go to battle for you.

Exodus 14:14 (NKJV) 14 The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-30-21

Hebrews 13:6 (NKJV) 6 So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”

I love God with all my heart. And I don’t say that lightly.

Every day that goes by proves to me more and more that He is our one true source of hope.

No matter what I see happening, whether on a personal level or on a global scale, God is my Helper. And because He is my helper, I will not fear the things that I see.

Life can be scary for those who are apart from God. And I will admit that even with God, it can be pretty challenging sometimes, causing us to shrink back on occasion as unexpected things confront us.

But God never shrinks back. And because He dwells within us, we shouldn’t shrink back either.

Sometimes that’s easier said than done, but there is a reality in that statement that we, as believers, need to embrace boldly in our lives.

That still might not always make it easy for us, but it should give us courage to stand when we need to stand, fight when we need to fight and look not to our own intellect for answers, but to the Spirit of God, whom Jesus called our Helper.

And, as we are told in Romans, if God is for us, who can be against us?

Romans 8:31 (NKJV) 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

So, when we face the hard things, we need to stand strong in our faith, and look to Jesus, the author and finisher of that faith (Hebrews 12:2).

Trust Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-29-21

Matthew 5:43-44 (NKJV) 43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you

How do we this? This has got to be one of the hardest things to do.

Love our enemies, bless those who curse us, do good to those who hate us and PRAY for those who spitefully use and persecute us. Wow!

As I was reading this morning, and I saw this verse, I was like, “God, help us. We can’t do this without You. Because I know who I am and what my flesh is like.

I usually just run away from people who treat me badly.

I know how I am. And if someone does me wrong, well they’d better look for another friend, because I don’t go for it.

I just don’t like to be around people like this.

And one more thing; these types of people pull the worst out of me. So, I try to stay away; far away”.

In the scripture above, we are given clear-cut directions on how to love like God.

This does not come natural to us; it is not a normal fleshly behavior. As a matter of fact, our flesh would like it better if we could hate our enemy. Now that would be easy to do, right?!

The point here is that we need to learn to love like God. After all, we are His children and we need to emulate His ways.

We need to be like Papa in every way. And this will take a lot of letting Him mature us in the things we should do.

If we can learn to walk in this kind of love, what does the Word of God say about it?

Matthew 5:48 (NKJV) 48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

This does not mean that we will be perfect and never sin. The perfect that the scripture is speaking of here is the way we should love others; the same way He loves us.

Even in very hard and difficult situations, even in their sin, this kind of loving others is God’s perfect love.

You see, it takes discipline to walk in this. It takes obedience to tame that fleshly desire that otherwise wants to lash out, call them names or argue our point.

It takes absolute Holy Spirit-led control over our emotions and attitude. It takes a huge change of heart.

That, my friend, will only happen if we submit our fleshly, hard heart to Him and let Him change it; let Him give us a new heart.

Ezekiel 36:26 (NKJV) 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-28-21

Revelation 22:20 (NKJV) 20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!

Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Those 5 words are my absolute favorites in the entirety of God’s word.

Ever since reading them for the very first time back in the mid 1980s, they have stuck with me like glue.

I had been laid off from my job and was spending massive amounts of time devouring the Word every night at bedtime, until the wee hours of the morning, with my little reading lamp clipped to my Bible.

I remember reading through the book of Revelation and being in total awe at what was in there; such incredible, jaw-dropping imagery of things to come.

And I remember not only being in awe, but being somewhat terrified by some of it at first. It is, after all, pretty serious stuff that will cause the faint of heart to run away.

But God led me through it, teaching me along the way, showing me His power, His grace, His mercy and His faithfulness, and showing me that if we follow Him closely and trust Him, it will all be good in the end.

And then, at the very end of the book, there were those 5 words; even so, come, Lord Jesus.

My heart was strengthened by them. And I remember thinking, “God, you are truly mighty and incredible. Yes, Lord, come quickly”.

That was roughly 35 years ago. And today, as we watch the world go through birth pangs, and the end times creep closer and closer, those 5 words echo in my mind almost daily. And sometimes even multiple times each day.

There is still much work to be done here. It is not time to sit back and rest. So, we encourage you to continue to press in to God like never before.

Devour His word. Let Him speak to you through it like never before. Stick to Him like glue. Let nothing come between you and Him. Nothing.

And as we do battle in the spirit, rest only in those 5 words; even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-27-21

Psalm 33:12 (NKJV) 12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, The people He has chosen as His own inheritance.

How do we, as a nation, make God our Lord?

We stand together on His word and His truths on a large scale. We depend on Him and His guidance to run our nation. We keep out perversion, lust, and corruption.

Lies and deceit are not welcome. Power and greed cannot be allowed in a nation whose God is the Lord. We stand up to what is wrong and we say, “No!”

On an individual scale, we obey Him in our own personal walk. We are His people, His chosen people as we live, breathe and walk with Him. Our relationship should be alive in Him and we should walk in integrity with the help of the Holy Spirit, trying to do better each day.

There are so many people that are deceived when it comes to discerning right and wrong. It’s truly sad.

I was talking to a woman one day about different topics that God speaks very clearly about in His word. She had no idea that God was so clear on these subjects.

But what baffled me was her strong stance on what she already believed. And her mind was so set that it overruled the truth of God’s word.

We don’t need to be ignorant on any subject pertaining to any type of sin.

He has clear-cut answers on anything we may be wondering about or not sure about.

If we need knowledge or wisdom, we get it from the word of God. We need to search it out.

Hosea 4:6 (NKJV) 6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.

It saddens me to think how far off we are today.

He says in this scripture, “My people are destroyed”.

How can this be?

Because we His people like to pick and choose what is comfortable, what is easy and what works best for the lifestyle that we choose to live out.

It’s truly sad. Some will die in their sin because of their lack of knowledge, or simply because they choose to believe the lies instead of embracing truth.

There is a fix for it all; get knowledge and understanding on how to get Him back on a personal and or national level!

He needs to be Lord over all our affairs, and blessed we shall be together!

Proverbs 4:5 (NKJV) 5 Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-26-21

Psalm 128:1 (NKJV) 1 Blessed is every one who fears the Lord, Who walks in His ways.

God’s blessings are probably the most sought after thing in history.

There is nothing better than to be blessed by God, the Creator of heaven and earth. Who could ask for more than that, right?

Well, now that we’ve established that fact, let’s talk about what it takes to actually make it happen.

First, we need to emphasize that making God’s blessings happen should never be a primary goal. If we seek the blessings before the Blesser, our priorities are a bit mixed up.

With that said, how do we accomplish being blessed by God? Is there a “secret formula”?

Well, the answer to that would be no… and yes. Let me explain.

There is no set-in-stone recipe, so to speak, that guarantees it to happen. For example, we know that if we have two eggs and we get two more, we will have 4. That’s an absolute.

But with God, following a set of steps doesn’t always give us absolutes like the 4 eggs.

You see, with God, it’s all about the condition of our heart. God knows our heart better than we know it, and how He blesses us (or not) is very dependent upon our heart.

Look at what He said of David.

Acts 13:22 (NKJV) 22 And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.’

And David was a man that God blessed mightily, because of his loyalty and diligence, and the steadfastness that he displayed toward his relationship with God.

So, it’s imperative that we not worry about the blessings. Don’t pursue them.

Pursue God wholeheartedly. The blessings will take care of themselves if/when we’re ready for them.

God knows. He is above our ways and above our thoughts.

Trust Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-24-21

Genesis 12:1 (NKJV) 1 Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you.

Unless we take the step, we will never know the results.

Take for instance, Abraham. If he did not leave his country, his family and his father’s house, he would have never known what God was calling him into.

We have to take steps. We have to obey, and then we see the results. Steps give us results.

I speak to you today because many times in our lives we’ve had to step out.

Were we scared sometimes? Yes, very much. Big moves are scary.

Little moves, not so much.

But God is a big God and when He knows we have it in us to do what He is asking, He will often ask us to do things beyond what we would ever think we could do.

All He is looking for is obedience. And from there He will do His work through us.

When we step out, it’s kind of like we are doing research at first. And when we see that the steps we are taking are working, then it goes from research to answers, to confirmation.

It is what builds our faith up; learning to listen, trust and step.

We grow our faith as we learn to obey God, step by step.

What is God asking of us today?

Is He saying we need to step out and leave our home? Let it go?

Is He saying He wants us to step out and let go of certain relationships?

Is He saying it’s time to make a move and open up our own business?

Is He asking for our tithe and offering, even though we may not feel it’s doable?

Does He want us to call the debt collectors and tell them that we are struggling, and can’t pay our bill, and ask if we can work this out somehow?

Is He saying to step out and be truthful with our spouse, and tell them what we have been doing behind their backs?

Is He asking us to be more devoted to Him and stop sitting on the fence?

There are a lot of areas where God will ask His children to step out; areas where we never thought we would.

Some can be very scary and very hard. But if we are feeling God’s prompting to do so, then do it. We can share later His results.

If He is the One doing the prompting, He is faithful to see it through!

Psalm 128:1 (NKJV) 1 Blessed is every one who fears the Lord, Who walks in His ways.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-23-21

Colossians 4:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. 6 Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside.

Who are those “who are outside”? The unbelieving, unsaved people that we know and encounter on a daily basis.

Interacting with unbelievers can be challenging for all of us from time to time.

Sometimes it’s effortless. Other times, especially if a particular person is boisterous, knowing what to say or not to say to them can be tough.

We always need God’s wisdom, leaning on the Holy Spirit to know just how to receive them and interact with them.

We have some solid counsel directly from God’s word, in the scripture above; speak with grace. Not harshly, condescendingly or with insults.

Seasoned with salt; speaking truth, even if the truth isn’t necessarily wanted by that person, standing firm on that truth in the confidence of God’s Spirit, but with the love of God always at the forefront of what we say.

That you may know how to answer each one; seeking God’s wisdom each and every time, not just answering quickly, based on emotion or human intellect.

Things can sometimes get heated when dealing with unbelievers. And if we’re not careful, we can get caught up in our emotions, lashing out at them with verbal poison that will not accurately reflect God’s grace.

This is very easy to get drawn into with some people. But it’s something we need to learn how to handle on a person-by-person basis.

God’s love isn’t mushy. It does not compromise truth. It exudes grace, but never at the cost of letting lies go unexposed.

So, let’s learn to walk that delicate line where truth is spoken and God’s grace is made known by our words and our attitudes.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-22-21

Matthew 5:3 (NKJV) 3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Who are the poor in spirit?

It is those who recognize their spiritual poverty, understanding their need for Christ. When this happens, we will put aside all self-dependence and earnestly seek God’s grace and mercy.

This is what salvation is all about.

We don’t just speak it with our mouth and then move on. We receive His guidance and teaching throughout our life. We completely put our trust in Him!

It is a day-to-day walk and relationship with Him.

It is not to be taking lightly, but in being thankful for the blessing that He has given to us as we acknowledge Jesus Christ as our Savior. Our spirit unites with Him and we become ONE.

In everything we do, He is with us. And He will guide us daily if we let Him.

After I got saved as a young girl, I was walking down the road, talking to my girlfriend. I was so excited and happy, I can’t even explain the joy I had in me.

Because she was my friend, I wanted to share my experience with her, with the hope she would do the same.

But it didn’t happen that way. She did not get excited, and really didn’t care much about what had happened to me.

She actually remarked with words that I would soon find out that many use. “Oh, your one of those churchy people?”

I think that was the first time I experienced rejection because of my faith. It made me sad to think that my friend had no interest in this amazing and life-changing decision.

I hurt for her.

Why would someone not want such a beautiful blessing?

We will experience this in our walk at times. We can’t let it get us down. Just keep on pressing in. And if God leads you to do so, keep sharing.

Some will jump at it and some will mock it and tear it down.

Either way, we are blessed children of God! For ours is the kingdom of heaven!

Keep shining, knowing that we are blessed! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-21-21

John 8:12 (NKJV) 12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

In Monday’s devotional, we used this verse to reinforce the fact that Jesus was the light of the world.

Today, let’s look at it to see what it means to us, as believers.

Look at what Jesus said about those who follow Him; they “shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life”.

That’s some significant stuff right there.

Why is it significant?

Because it tells us exactly who we are supposed to be and what our lives should look like.

Let’s break it down.

1. Those who follow Me.

What does He mean by the word, “follow”?

Jesus was very clear on several occasions regarding those who follow Him. In another scripture (John 10:27), he said that His sheep would know His voice, and they would follow Him.

Following Him means more than just knowing who He is, or having a casual knowledge of Him.

It means to put our complete faith and trust in Him, and to walk that faith out in every aspect of our lives. It is not something that rises and falls based on our emotions or our daily moods. We are no longer our own. We belong wholly to Him.

2. They shall not walk in darkness.

This isn’t referring to natural light. This is a reference to how our lives are conducted. We live in the light of the Holy Spirit, and that light shines through us, onto to those around us and into the dark world that we live in.

Our lives reflect that light, and it should be visible in everything that we do.

Will we be perfect in executing that? Not as long as we are living here on earth, walking in the fleshly body that we inhabit. But as we allow His Spirit to teach us and guide us, He will become more and more obvious in our actions.

3. They shall have the light of life.

1 John 1:7 tells us to walk in the light as He is in the light.

As we allow Him to guide our steps, darkness will slowly be pushed out of our lives, and light will dominate.

The things we say and do will more clearly represent the kingdom of God (light), and the ways of darkness (evil) will eventually fade into the distant background.

Ephesians 5:8 (NKJV) 8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light…
