Bible Verse of The Day – 4-30-21

John 15:5 (NKJV) 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

Over the years, as I have grown and matured as a believer, the truth and reality of what Jesus said has become more and more real and more apparent to me. Without Him I can do nothing.

In fact, without Him, not only can I do nothing, but I am nothing.

I have seen that God is my source. He is my everything. He is the very reason I exist.

As the last 40+ years have gone by, since I became a believer, God has shown me in great depth how we need Him.

It is when we get this revelation and we truly begin to understand it, that we begin to see Who He is and why we are in such desperate need of Him in our lives.

You might ask, “how do I get that revelation myself?’.

There is no magic formula. But I will say this; it comes as we begin to understand our own weakness and the depravity of humanity in general.

It is then that our spirit cries out and asks God to commune with us and truly make us His own, cleansing us from the inside, out, as He purifies us as one refined in the fire.

I know that may sound a bit over the top to some. It might even sound religious. But trust me when I tell you, I am one of the least religious people you will ever meet.

I just know that God is sovereign and I need Him. Period.

It is that simple understanding that has helped me grow my relationship with Him to where it is now.

And here’s the cool part; I’m not special. You can do the very same thing.

You too can grow and mature as a believer, drawing closer to God and gaining the understanding that without Him, you also can do nothing. And are, in fact nothing.

So, what does that require?

A sincere heart and a willingness to put forth a consistent effort to get to know Him on a personal level.

It’s not complicated at all. And with dedication on our end, we can all walk with Him in a beautiful relationship that flourishes and changes our destiny.

Psalm 30:12 (NKJV) 12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever.

God is good! We sing praises and thank Him forever and ever. Amen.

We wanted to take today and say two words to you all as well, you most fearfully and wonderfully made people that God has divinely connected us with.

Psalm 139:14 (NKJV) 14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

Thank YOU!

Thank you all for being so kind and uplifting to us during this season of losing my (Pastor Ellie’s) dad.

God is moving through you all and we are grateful and honored to see it and be a part of what He is doing all around this world.

Through His Spirit, we stand together in unity and in love. We are family.

We Love You…

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-28-21

Mark 16:17 (NKJV) 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;

If there’s one thing that has become abundantly clear to me over the years about Jesus, it’s this; His life impacted the world like no other before or after Him.

This is to be expected, since He was God sent to earth in human form.

But another thing that has become increasingly clear to me as a Christian (follower (imitator) of Christ) is this; as His followers, we should also expect to impact the lives of those we encounter in a way that draws people to God and grows the Kingdom of God.

If we aren’t, then we may need to ask God how to fix that in us.

You see, Jesus Himself said that signs would follow those who believe.

Are we seeing signs? Do we make demons afraid, or are we afraid of demons?

Good question, isn’t it?

Do we experience signs and wonders?

How do our lives impact those we come into contact with? What will people remember about us over the years?

This isn’t to say that we all need to become “preachers” or start running around trying to cast demons out of everyone we see.

It does mean, though, that we need to let God use us for His purposes, following His leading so He can make Himself visible to people, and so He can be glorified in the earth through our lives.

That can’t happen if we are timid and afraid of people. It can’t happen if we pull back when God tells us to step out or speak out. It can’t happen if we fail to see the importance of this in our lives and actually take action to walk it out.

For some reason, the body of Christ has become very timid and complacent, especially over the last few centuries, blending into society, instead of shaping it and spearheading God’s presence in it.

Let’s ponder on this. Let’s ask God to show us where we may have dropped the ball and simply faded into society instead of shaping it.

I know He will be faithful to show us. We just need to be sincere in the asking and the expecting, and then in the obedience. Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-27-21

Romans 8:28 (NKJV) 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Are we ready for God to show us great and mighty things?

Are we willing to take steps of obedience?

Are we ready to lay down the desires of our own hearts and walk in His desires, letting His plan unfold right before our very eyes?

How exciting it will be to follow after Him and walk in His way for us.

We may be scared at times; we may not know the outcome of our steps. But one thing we will know for sure is that as we obey Him and follow His lead, we will win!

Now, how do we know we will win?

Because God does not lie. He tells us to obey and follow His path, and all things will work together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purposes.

The most important thing here is that we love Him. And that love will cause us to want to obey His purpose for our lives.

Now, we may say, “Pastors, how do we know His purpose for our life?”.

Will God lead us blindly? Will we not know what to do or say in any given situation?

Has there been anyone in the Bible that followed Him and did not know at any time what to do or not to do?

Even at their worst, they knew to TRUST HIM and He would show up!!

If we ask of Him, will He not answer us?

Matthew 7:11 (NKJV) 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

He will never leave us high and dry. He will never leave us without a plan and He will never neglect giving  us what we need when He feels we need it.

Never ever will He forsake us.

Hebrews 13:5 (NKJV) 5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Let us take a moment today and surrender our plans to Him, and say, “Lord, if there is something you’d rather have me do…let’s do it Your way! “  In Jesus’ name we ask… Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-26-21

Joshua 1:9 (NKJV) 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid.

When God spoke these words to Joshua, He was preparing the people of Israel to cross over the Jordan river to capture and inhabit the land that He had set aside for them.

He knew they would need to be strong and courageous if they were to do what He needed them to do.

Today, we also need to be strong and courageous.

No, we’re not necessarily preparing to invade a land and inhabit it.

But we are in a place where we need to be bold and ready to stand for God’s truth.

As with the people under Joshua’s leadership, we are entering a “foreign land” in the sense that we are now treading where we haven’t stepped before. We are dealing with things that we have never had to deal with before.

Each day we learn new things as we see events happening around us that are plainly evil in their origins.

And in all of this, we have a choice; we stand up to it or we sit and be quiet.

We have to let the Holy Spirit lead us with regard to whether to stand or be silent. There will be times for both.

As with the Israelites, sitting silently when we should be acting with courage can lead to consequences that aren’t pleasant.

If God has called us to possess the land, so to speak, we need to be warriors with great courage (which comes from God), and be bold in our conquest to accomplish it.

We need to let God lead us and teach us. He is faithful to do both.

We just have to be willing to follow and obey.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-24-21

John 10:27 (NKJV) 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. ”

We are His sheep. We should be able to recognize (know) His voice and follow Him.

But what is it that keeps us from hearing God? What is it that keeps us from discerning correctly? Why can’t we hear the very thing we need to when we are crying out? What is it that stops us?

It is the noise we let in our hearts that keeps us from hearing Him.

Noise keeps us in turmoil. It keeps us from not hearing God correctly. And when we don’t hear or know what to do, we (His sheep) will often just take a step on our own.

Sometimes it’s a big step, and sometimes small. But if it is a step that is not for us it will cause problems one way or another. Sometimes we won’t notice the problem right away. But, over time, we will see that maybe we should have made a different move. And then we will regret the step we took.

We want to hear Him and follow Him in every area of our walk.

Shut out the noise. That will make it possible.

Noise comes in when we allow our heart to be filled with things that come before God. When we allow people to interrupt our time with Him, whether it is prayer time or reading time or just quiet time.

Noise comes in when we allow situations to take most of us and only leave a little bit for other things.

Noise comes in when we idolize people, places or activities. Anything that comes between us and God will bring noise with it, and we will get off track.

End the noise by eliminating the things that pull on our hearts and take us away.  Hear His voice and follow Him. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-23-21

Luke 4:33-35 (NKJV) 33 Now in the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon. And he cried out with a loud voice, 34 saying, “Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!” 35 But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet, and come out of him!” And when the demon had thrown him in their midst, it came out of him and did not hurt him.

A couple weeks ago I was reading these verses and something leapt out at me. It was this; Jesus gave this demon no voice. He silenced it immediately and then cast it out of the man it was inhabiting.

There is a lot for us to learn from this encounter that Jesus had with this demon.

Jesus gave this demon no voice. He shut it down immediately and forcibly removed it, sending it on its way.

This got me to thinking about our own lives. Do we give evil a voice in our lives? Do we let evil speak freely and fail to rebuke it? Do we let it speak and then just simply move on, not silencing it or shutting it down?

As I have observed the happenings in the church, and in the world, it would appear that we have given evil a voice. We have let it speak. And we have let it have its way, unhindered and unexposed.

It is this that has caused us to be where we are today, battling evil on so many fronts where it doesn’t belong.

It’s time for us to use our voices and speak back to this evil; push it back. We need to address demonic forces and rebuke them, face to face.

Our silence is speaking much more loudly than our words, allowing evil to thrive unchecked.

It’s time to shut it down and speak truth, sending the demons running.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-22-21

Matthew 6:34 (NKJV) 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

I love that Jesus tells us not to worry.

I think we all struggle with worrying at one time or another, no matter how hard we try not to. We have to be reminded every so often that God has our back.

He has it in the morning.

He has it in the afternoon.

He has it in the evening.

He has it while we sleep.

God has our back when no one else will stand up for or with us. God has it when we have been turned down for a position we thought we were going to get.

He stands with us on our job when everyone around us looks down at us.

God has our back when we lose someone we love. And He has it when we have nowhere to turn.

If you or someone you know needs to hear this today, lift up your eyes to Him and shout, “I praise YOU Father!”.

He has you, and you are not to worry.

Take one foot, put it in front of the other, and keep walking. He will guide your steps.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-21-21

Mark 14:50 (NKJV) 50 Then they all forsook Him and fled.

As I read this a few days ago, I pondered on the significance of it. I thought about the fact that the very people who had sworn that they would never abandon Jesus did just that; forsook Him in His hour of greatest need.

Not that they could have stopped what He was about to face. That’s not the case. But their flesh showed through and dominated their behavior, causing them to flee when trouble hit.

I pondered on my own flesh, and how we as humans are so fickle and weak at times. We say one thing, yet do another. We aim for something, but miss it by a mile because of our flesh.

Even Paul struggled with this.

Romans 7:15 (NKJV) 15 For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do.

Jesus was the only human to ever walk the earth who did only what was right, and was able to successfully ward off temptation every time He faced it, without falling into sin.

One. One human being!

And how did He do this? By obedience to the power and leading of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit kept Him from fleeing when He was facing His most difficult hour.

And it is this same Holy Spirit who will help us do what is right at those critical times in our lives.

Whether we face persecution for our faith or we have to choose whether to give in to temptation or not, He and He alone will be our Helper and our Guide. We only need to obey Him.

Ponder this as we walk out our lives in this season we are in. It’s important that we keep it fresh in our heart and mind, so we are prepared in the moment.

And know this; that if we have failed Him in the past, He is willing and ready to forgive us. All we need to do is repent and ask. And it will be done.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-20-21

1 Timothy 6:10 (NKJV) 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Money, in and of itself, is not evil. But rather, the love of having it is.

When we get to a point where our money, and the desire for more of it, runs us, then we are in trouble.

How does our money control us?

When we don’t give, and when we hold back from God, keeping what is not ours, then we are likely being controlled by our money.

There is an amount of our money that God asks us to give back to Him.

Malachi 3:8 (NJKV) 8 “Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings.

That amount is 10 percent of our pay, or anything that comes into our hands. He gets that first and foremost.

Then He asks us to give offerings from time to time.

This is something that is typically spur of the moment. It just happens.

We will be somewhere doing something, and we will hear Him; “Give to this situation, or give to that person. Pay for their groceries, or help them with their mortgage. Pay for their meal tonight. Buy them some clothes. Give them gas money”.

These are a few of the things that we have heard at times.

God requires us all to be givers. He wants us to be ready to open up our pocket and give at any time that He leads us to do so.

Don’t love money more than we love God. Doing so will make us miserable and we will often lose most of what we have.

Be obedient with our money, and see what God will do for us. He loves a cheerful giver.

2 Corinthians 9:7 (NJKV) 7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-19-21

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

As each day goes by, I live by this scripture more and more.

We are living in a time where we absolutely need to trust God 100%. There’s no other way for us to move ahead and be who He wants us to be if we’re not trusting Him in absolutely everything.

I wrestle constantly with what we’re seeing. I watch evil in plain sight. It is blatant. It is in your face. It makes no effort to hide.

But no matter what we see, I know that God’s providence will play out and that His plans are better than my plans or your plans.

I will admit that I would love nothing more than to wake up one morning and see that He has swept His hand across the globe and taken care of everything that we see happening.

But that is not my choice to make. It is His. And His ways are much higher than ours.

Isaiah 55:9 (NKJV) 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

He sees everything; the big picture. We see only in part.

So, I will lean on His understanding, not mine. I will walk by His plans, not mine. And when I’m having one of those moments where I feel like I can’t take seeing one more evil plot carried out in plain sight, I will surrender it to Him and trust Him even more.

In the meantime, I will continue to stand on His word, His truth and freedom in Jesus Christ.

I invite you to stand with me and watch as God carries out His perfect plan.
