Bible Verse of The Day – 1-9-21

John 5:19 (NKJV) 19 Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.

The Son can do nothing of Himself. Though Jesus and His Father were One, He did not do things on His own.

There was not any one time that Jesus acted independently of His Father. Instead, He only did what His Father showed Him.

What does that tell us then?

We need God, His direction and His authority moving in and through us.

With God, all things are possible. But without Him, we are all on our own, with only our own wisdom, our own knowledge, our own understanding and our own strength.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be on my own.

There are some who will do things on their own, with God’s name attached to it. Beware.

We need to have the Holy Spirit and His sharp discernment to recognize what the motive is behind their actions.

God, may we draw near to you and look to You for help in these days and times. We need Your direction.

Jesus, God’s only Son, says that He can do nothing of Himself. Let us learn from His very words, and then act accordingly.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-8-21

Psalm 73:2-3 (NKJV) 2 But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled; My steps had nearly slipped. 3 For I was envious of the boastful, When I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

As I recently spent time in the 73rd Psalm, I found it to be very fitting for the times in which we live.

We have touched on the subject of corruption frequently over the last several weeks as we have watched the events of the world unfold.

Corruption typically involves people of great wealth, as they claw their way to obtaining more and more of the wealth and power that they believe gives them more security.

From the outside, it can seem very appealing to many of us as we observe the wealth of these people. And if we’re not careful, we will begin to envy them because of that great wealth.

This was the case with the Psalmist here, as he observed the wealthy. He stated that he “almost stumbled” when he saw the prosperity of the wicked.

During the next several verses (verses 4-16), he spoke further about the ways of wealthy and wicked people, as he observed that their lives seemed to be free of the troubles that plague those who have less.

But in verse 17 he began to see the truth of the matter.

Psalm 73:17 (NKJV) 17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; Then I understood their end.

As he turned to God for answers, he saw “their end”. He saw the price that they will pay for their corruption and their wickedness. He saw the slippery path that they are on, leading to their ultimate destruction.

And he saw the foolishness of his own heart, as he had desired to be like them. So, he repented before God, thanking Him for His faithfulness.

A great lesson for all of us today, as we watch the wicked work feverishly to grow and preserve the wealth they have toiled so hard to accumulate, even as it begins to slip through their fingers.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-7-21

John 5:24 (NKJV) 24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.

If we truly accept God as our Father, and Jesus as His Son, and we walk out the life He has for us, trusting in them both, we will not see judgment but forever live eternally with them.

What a beautiful plan He made for those who believe, to live life with such a loving and compassionate Father, Son and Holy Spirit throughout our journey here on this earth, and after we leave here.

John 1:12-13 (NKJV) 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

As God’s children, we are so very blessed. Amen. We have eternal life with the great I AM!

Exodus 3:14 (NKJV) 14 And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ”

Celebrate our life with Him today, give Him praise!

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-6-21

Psalm 50:14-15 (NKJV) 14 Offer to God thanksgiving, And pay your vows to the Most High. 15 Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”

As I was going through chapter 50 of the book of Psalms, this particular pair of verses caught my attention.

It seems rather benign at first, but upon closer examination it is really pretty important to understand.

The very first word is “offer”, as we are told to offer God thanksgiving.

Most of us might initially think this simply means to thank God for what He does. But we need to understand that this is really referring to making a sacrifice of thanks to God, not just an off-the-cuff expression that has little meaning or sincerity.

You see, of all the things we can offer to God, a sacrifice of thanksgiving is one that never fails to please Him.

Next, we are told to “pay our vows” to Him.

What comes to mind when we read this will typically be the idea of paying something monetarily, such as our tithes and offerings.

While that is something that we should all do, this is actually referring to “keeping” our vows to God, not paying Him with money. Simply put, we follow through on the things we promise Him.

And then look at what He tells us in verse 15!

After we are told to offer God a sacrifice of thanksgiving, and to keep the vows we make to Him, He tells us to call upon Him in our day of trouble.

And what will He do? He will deliver us!

So, as we are faithful to Him, He is mutually favorable toward us, declaring that He will deliver us in the day of trouble.

And, lastly, He tells us to glorify Him after He has rescued us from our trouble.

This is such a simple truth that we so often overlook in our lives. But the effects of carrying it out are more than worth the effort.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-5-21

John 4:39 (NKJV) 39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, “He told me all that I ever did.”

Do we know that just as Jesus knew everything this woman had done, He knows everything we have ever done?

Why do we continue to act like He doesn’t know us?

Why do we get scared that He won’t show up and pull us through? Why do we take things into our own hands at times? Why do we not have the patience to wait on Him to deliver us, knowing He will not forsake us?

I’m here today to remind us all… He knows. He knows what we did. He knows what we spoke at times. And He knows how we carried things out.

He knows every detail of our lives. Nothing is hidden from Him.

Does He still love us, or does He hold it against us?

Romans 5:8 (NKJV) 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

So, the answer is, yes and no. Yes, He still loves us. And no, He doesn’t hold it against us, if we truly repent.

He hates our sin, but He loves us. He knows everything about us, and still loves us.

We need to start confessing and crying out to Him, asking Him to help us get a grip on these things that we keep falling into over and over again. Life is slipping away and the time is now to get ourselves right.

Remember; He knows everything about us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-4-21

2 Peter 2:1-2 (NKJV) 1 But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. 2 And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed.

Corruption runs amok throughout the world.

Governments. Big business. Big tech. Even in small towns and cities. It’s everywhere.

It covers everything, from the smallest of villages to the largest of cites, and everything in between.

It lurks in small-town city councils and big-city mayors.

And, guess what. It’s also in the church, the body of Christ.

Now, I’m not referring to “church politics”, although it does live within that. I’m referring to false teachers and false prophets.

What do I mean by that?

False teachers infiltrate the church oh so quietly. They wear big smiles. They blend in with the rest of the body. They speak words that they claim to be truth. But those words are actually lies wrapped in small pieces of truth.

And those words corrupt the gospel of Jesus Christ, eroding and destroying the foundations of our faith ever so slowly.

Before we know it, the lies are being accepted as truth and the path of the church is running parallel to the path of the world; corrupt to the core by lies and deceit.

It’s critical that we, the followers of Christ, don’t fall for these lies, these half-truths. We need to be ever so vigilant, guarding the word of truth that God has imparted into us.

And here’s how we do that. We read and study His word. We feast on it. We digest it and we live it out each and every day in our own lives.

By doing this, we “embed” the word within us. And we present ourselves approved to God.

2 Timothy 2:15 (NKJV) 15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Be sure we are on God’s path, not the parallel path!

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-2-21

1 Corinthians 1:9 (NKJV) 9 God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

I think these are the words I use most whenever I hear of troublesome times for people.

I remember when my Dad was going in for heart surgery. I felt so weak at the knees that day that I could have literally just dropped.

But Someone held me and carried me through. That Someone was God.

When we are in our weakest moments, and we feel like we are just going to drop right to the ground, God’s arms are right there, waiting to carry us and bring us through whatever battle we are facing.

Yes…it’s OK to admit we are weak at times.

I remember crying out to God. All I could say was His name. Those are the moments when we know that God has our back.

Let me say to those who are weak today, “You’re tired from the battle and your strength may be all used up. Call on the One who can carry you the rest of the way”.

Psalm 57:2 (NKJV) 2 I will cry out to God Most High, To God who performs all things for me.

He is faithful!

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-1-21

2 Timothy 2:4 (NKJV) 4 No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.

I may have mentioned in the past that I am a passionate person. When I do something, I give it 100%. I go full-bore, full steam ahead! It’s all or nothing.

That’s just how God wired me. It’s part of who He made me to be.

So, I have had to lean on God heavily during these last few months and let Him lead me when it comes to how to spend my time and where to put my efforts.

Let me explain.

I am, first and foremost, a man of God, a teacher of the Word of Truth. I love who God has made me and what He has done in the lives of Pastor Ellie and I.

I also love my country. I love the freedom that we have as a nation. And I love the fact that our nation was founded on Biblical principles and Biblical truths.

So, when I see our country going through the trials and tribulations that we have faced recently, I tend to speak out very passionately about what I see.

Because of my technological background, I have a God-given talent for being able to research and dig up relevant information about these types of events, helping to find truth in the midst of the turmoil.

And that tech background, combined with the drive in me to pursue truth and justice, and make it known to others, makes it very easy for me to create ways to share and spread that info via platforms already available and also by platforms that I could easily create myself.

But I recently had to make a choice as to where I would put my efforts and spend my time.

My all or nothing personality needed to choose between my passion for God and my passion for my nation. Because of this, God told me to be careful that my passion for Him always remains at the forefront of who I am.

Since we are engaged in Kingdom warfare, I consciously choose each and every day to dedicate myself to the endeavors that God has placed before me, as a soldier in His army.

I choose to be His warrior. I choose every day to fight in His army, for His kingdom.

Yes, I am still passionate about my nation that I love so dearly. And, yes, I still take some time and energy to fight for that kingdom too. But only on a very small scale compared to the eternal Kingdom that we are all a part of.

We are engaged in warfare. Let’s be careful not to entangle ourselves in affairs that are not beneficial to those battles and to the kingdom of God.
