Bible Verse of The Day – 1-20-21

Psalm 146:3-4 (NKJV) 3 Do not put your trust in princes, Nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help. 4 His spirit departs, he returns to his earth; In that very day his plans perish.

Times of trials and tribulation can tend to cause us to reach out for inspiration, encouragement and hope from people around us.

And while there is nothing wrong with doing that to some degree, God ultimately wants us to look to Him for what we need.

Man will fail us. We will be hurt and disappointed by man. We will be betrayed by man. It’s just how it goes because man is frail and fickle, living by emotions and existing, often times, solely to satisfy self.

This is why it’s so important that we grow and build our trust in God.

Even though it can be hard for us to do this because of the disparity between spirit and flesh, it’s something that we need to determine within our hearts to do if we want to learn to live and walk by the Spirit, and not by the flesh.

Truth and the Spirit of God bring liberty. Flesh, and all that revolve around it, bring bondage.

2 Corinthians 3:17 (NKJV) 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-19-21

John 8:19 (NKJV) 19 Then they said to Him, “Where is Your Father?” Jesus answered, “You know neither Me nor My Father. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also.” If you know Me, you would know the Father.

Jesus let the people know that they didn’t know Him the way they should.

They didn’t believe in Him and Who His Father said He was; the only begotten Son, sent from Heaven, the Messiah, and Savior of the world.

It’s sad to think that they were so far off. Jesus said it like this:

Matthew 7:23 (NKJV) 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

I never knew you. We don’t want these words to ever sit on our heads.

Getting to know Jesus takes an effort on our part, to want to know and learn of Him, not just intellectually, but personally.

We need to follow Him, letting His light guide us.

When He leads us, we have sharp discernment, our understanding is quick and we are focused.

Every step we make means something and there is great accomplishment and a peace about it all.

John 8:12 (NKJV) 12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk-in darkness, but have the light of life.”

Why should we be in darkness when Jesus says that if we follow Him, we will have the light of life?

I don’t know about you, but I want the light of life not only living in me, but flourishing in me!

Light is good. Know Jesus and you will know our Father. Walking with them is better than we could ever have it on our own. They are our life!

Job 33:4 (NKJV) 4 The Spirit of God has made me, And the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

Take a step in knowing Jesus today in a more intimate and deeper way.

Start by opening the book of John. Just read a little at a time and let Him reveal Himself to you. Ask the Holy Spirit to Help take you to a deeper relationship with Him.

Be diligent in giving Him time to reveal Himself to you throughout your daily routine. And keep your eyes and ears open. He is faithful to come alive in our daily walk as we give Him the freedom to move.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-18-21

Proverbs 1:20-22 (NKJV) 20 Wisdom calls aloud outside; She raises her voice in the open squares. 21 She cries out in the chief concourses, At the openings of the gates in the city She speaks her words: 22 “How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? For scorners delight in their scorning, And fools hate knowledge.

God wants us to be wise. His word teaches us this over and over again, from Genesis to Revelation.

So many people believe wisdom is hard to find or obtain. This may seem to be true if we believe that wisdom can only be obtained by our own experiences over the course of many, many years.

The truth, however, is that God gives us many ways of becoming wise.

Learning from our own experiences is only one way. And to be honest, this is probably the hardest way to gain wisdom because it means we have to go through a lot of tough things before we start to have the insights and understanding that come with being wise.

So, what’s the best way to become wise?

Well, there is more than just a single way.

We can glean a lot of wisdom from watching and listening to others who offer to share their insights with us.

We can learn by observing others who have understanding that we may lack.

We can pray and seek wisdom from the Holy Spirit, Who will lead us in all things.

And we can spend time gleaning wisdom from the word of God.

His word is packed with wisdom from centuries of people who walked His path and who penned what the Holy Spirit inspired them to write.

God’s wisdom is the best and most pure because it is not contaminated by man.

Therefore, get wisdom.

Proverbs 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-16-21

Micah 6:8 (NKJV) 8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?

I love how Micah lists the things that the Lord requires us to do.

The first one being “to do justly”.

This means to do things in a way that is well founded; based on good evidence or reason, justifiable, and according to what is morally right or fair.

Second, we are to love mercy.

To show mercy means that we may be in a situation, and we have every right to punish someone for what they did against us, but we choose (here’s the mercy part) to forgive and let it go.

When we fully understand what God did for us, this will be easy to do. And we will actually enjoy doing the same for others.

This is not something God forces on us; it is however, something He would love to see us grow in on our own.

Learning to love walking in mercy produces such goodness and grace flowing out from us. These are very good qualities indeed.

Third, and very important, we need to walk humbly with our God.

This comes when we fully understand Who He is, and we begin to trust Him with our daily life and let Him lead us.

As we are growing up, we are taught to be the opposite. We are taught to do everything ourselves.

But, as we mature in the Lord, and in our relationship with Him, we will find ourselves running things by Him more often than usual.

This causes us to have a grateful and humble attitude toward our Almighty Father.

As we humble ourselves, He will raise us up, and things will work out accordingly in every situation.

1 Peter 5:6 (NKJV) 6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time…

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-15-21

Psalm 73:28 (NKJV) 28 But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord God, That I may declare all Your works.

The last few words of this Psalm are where I’d like to put our focus today, “That I may declare all Your works”.

Salvation, and our walk with God, aren’t about us, even though that’s what most of us might tend to think.

We think of salvation, and we automatically think of our sins being forgiven, and spending eternity with God, in His presence.

Those things are absolutely 100% true. But I like to think of those as being incredible “fringe benefits” of being saved from ourselves and our sinful ways.

The real deal with our salvation is “declaring His works”!

God created each and every one of us with a purpose. We aren’t just here to take up space, breathe oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide.

We are here to share His light, His mercy, His compassion, His grace and His love with those we interact with; to declare His works.

This can come in many different forms.

Sometimes it’s sharing scripture with someone, to bring understanding to them.

Sometimes it means loving someone who might be “unlovable”.

Sometimes it might mean offering someone hope when they have lost their hope.

And yet other times it might mean encouraging someone who feels like there is no light at the end of the tunnel.

Declaring His works doesn’t always mean “preaching” to someone. In fact, the vast majority of the time, we won’t even need to break out a Bible or “quote scripture”.

We just need to make ourselves available and be willing to go where the Holy Spirit leads us, so we can be a light in this dark world that we live in, as we declare His works.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-14-21

Genesis 2:24 (NKJV) 24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

Family comes in many sizes. It begins with marriage. Once we are married, we become one and that is the beginning of our family.

We are to live each day caring for our family.

For some of us it’s just us and our spouse. Others have children and grandchildren. Or for some it may be their Mom or Dad and/or siblings. We all know who our family is that are ours that we need to tend to.Some of our family members need more prayer or help than the others.

Some seem to carry on with very little help needed. It all depends on the season they may be going through, the tragedies or hardships they have had to endure, the addictions they have, or sicknesses they have suffered.

Life is a funny thing, and family is what helps us to make it through some of the hard times we will face throughout our lives.

Lean on each other. Carry each other through those difficult times. Do whatever it takes to be there for one another.

Family is so very important. Let us not take each other for granted. Take the time to pray with each other. To talk things through and listen, out of respect for one another.

Sometimes we never know their problems because we don’t ask or listen long enough to hear it.

Husbands, love your wives. Wives, love your husbands. And children, honor your Mama and Papa.

God made it so we could have family. Enjoy each other.

They are a blessing!

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-13-21

Psalm 119:11 (NKJV) 11 Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.

Psalm 119 has become my absolute favorite Psalm as I have recently spent more and more time reading it through repeatedly.

There are so many foundational principles found within it that will help us solidify our walk with God if we learn them and put them into practice in our lives.

The principle above, hiding His word in our hearts, is key to letting God create a clean heart within us.

Psalm 51:10 (NKJV) 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

A clean heart is increasingly important to guide us in every aspect of our lives. This includes decisions we make, the words we speak, the thoughts we think and the actions we take (or choose not to take) in our daily lives.

The level of “cleanliness” in our heart will dictate how close we are to God.

Why?

Because sin cannot be in God’s presence. So, when there is sin in our lives, that sin pushes us away from God, even when we want to be close to Him. Sin makes it impossible for us to get as close to Him as we could be if that sin wasn’t present.

Now, it’s important for us to understand that sin comes in many different forms.

Many people automatically think of murder, adultery, fornication and many other types of actions.

But there are some types of sins that are less obvious, especially outwardly, to those around us.

Pride, self-pity, conceit, arrogance, haughtiness, ungratefulness, stubbornness and a lengthy list of similar “invisible” sins are just as dangerous and deadly to us.

They all make us “dirty”.

But having God’s word hidden in our hearts will help us to clean those things out from within us, giving us that clean heart that was referred to in Psalm 51:10.

And, in turn, that will help us to draw closer and closer to God. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-12-21

John 3:17 (NKJV) 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

In my prayer time this morning, I saw the baby Jesus laying in His manger. And as I looked upon His face, I saw the face of every person.

I said, “Lord what does this mean?”. He said, “I came to save every one of them. That is my purpose”.

How special to hear the voice of the Lord say such a thing.

That means that He came for each of us, no matter our disappointments.

No matter our failures.

No matter our losses.

No matter our wrong agenda or our recklessness.

No matter our inconsistencies.

Because no one person is perfect, but Him. He came to save us from it all.

I am in AWE of His love for me today, and I want to share with you, because He came for each and every one of us.

He will deliver us from it all and we can trust Him for that.

Isaiah 43:16 (NKJV) 16 Thus says the Lord, who makes a way in the sea And a path through the mighty waters…

Amen and the Happiest New Year to you!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-11-21

Isaiah 54:17 (NKJV) 17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord.

Sometimes in life it can feel like evil has an upper hand. It feels like it is winning, completely unchecked.

And the truth is that sometimes it does win. Sometimes it does defeat those who stand against it, at least for the short term.

But here’s what we need to remember when that happens. God will ultimately prevail.

We don’t always know the timing. We don’t always see, know or understand God’s methodology. Sometimes we don’t even see the victory itself, either because it happens in the spirit realm or it happens after our lifetime.

But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.

We need to hold fast to God’s promises and trust Him in all things, despite what we see with our natural eyes.

Yes, that can be difficult to do sometimes. It can wreak havoc with our minds, and it can toy our emotions. But that’s OK. That still doesn’t mean that God isn’t in control.

He is.

So, if you’re feeling frustrated because it looks like evil is winning, press in to God. Hold to Him tightly. Dig in to His word. Talk to Him. And then listen for His voice.

Listen to Him. Let Him reassure you and bring understanding.

Our minds don’t get the final say. His Spirit does.

And what He says is far more important than what we think or perceive.

Trust Him.
