Bible Verse of The Day – 10-20-20

Joshua 1:9 (NKJV) 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

At the beginning of the book of Joshua, in the very first chapter, God says to Joshua, “be strong and of good courage”. Not once, not twice but three times. Now, that right there would scare me. Why would God say that?

I am the type of person who would rather not know or hear about what’s ahead of me. I do better on the spot. You know; ignorance is bliss. That’s me!

Let me just know as I go. If I know too much up front, my head goes nuts trying to figure out how to avoid what I may face. Is anyone with me?

You see, when you move with God, some of His instructions are just what they are. You can’t avoid them, go around them or try to figure everything out. You just have to do it the way He is leading.

Sometimes He will give us a phrase. Or maybe only one single Word. And it will carry us the whole way through the journey.

Moses had died, and now God was speaking to Joshua, instructing him to lead the people. The first lesson as a leader that Joshua had to learn was to “be strong and of good courage”.

I believe this is something we all have to learn up front. God can’t use us to lead if we cry over spilled milk. We can’t be so sensitive that every little thing upsets us.

It’s time that we, as God’s children, step up to the plate and show others what it’s like to be strong and of good courage. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-19-20

Mark 7:9 (NKJV) 9 He said to them, “All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition.

Traditions can be very powerful in many ways.

Many families are steeped in tradition. They carry out certain acts year after year because that’s what they have been shown to do. They may not even know why. They just know that it’s always been that way.

This may not be bad or good. But it shows how prone to tradition human beings are.

The same can be said for the church; the bride of Christ.

She does things in a certain way, time, after time, after time, and most times not even stopping to think about, wonder or question why. She just does it because that’s the way it’s always been done.

Jesus had a few things to say about this.

The scribes and pharisees asked Jesus why His disciples didn’t follow the tradition of washing their hands before eating. This wasn’t viewed as a sanitary issue. They knew very little about germs and bacteria back then.

The scribes and pharisees were more concerned with the fact that the disciples weren’t keeping tradition itself.

When Jesus addressed the scribes and pharisees, He was quick to turn things around and point right back at them, exposing their hearts, and the lack of discipline on their end.

He rebuked them for being the hypocrites that they were, telling them plainly that they rejected (set aside, denied, abandoned) the commandment of God in favor of their man-made traditions.

And let’s be clear; it wasn’t so much the tradition itself that Jesus reprimanded them for. It was the condition of their hearts. They did what they did simply because they had been told to do so, and they had been doing it for centuries without ever questioning it.

And where do we, the bride of Christ, stand today with our traditions? Do we do what we do simply because it’s what we have been shown or told to do, or maybe because we have seen others do it?

Do we say certain things that we have heard others say, without stopping to question the validity of it, or the scriptural accuracy of it?

These are all things that are super important; Things we should all ponder and seek God about.

For if we say or do things simply out of rote or habit, where is the true love of God or the obedience to Him in any of it?

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-18-20

Please click to watch the video now.Greetings!

We hope that you are walking closely with God and learning to trust Him more each day.

The video for today is a bit different than some of our most recent videos.

Today’s video, The Deadly Trio, talks about three things that affect every one of us in one way or another. And the way they affect us is never good for us.

We hope you’ll take a few minutes and give it a watch, and that it will help you recognize where these three things might be hiding in our own lives.

Please click here to watch the video now.

Be mightily blessed in Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-17-20

Proverbs 27:1 (NKJV) 1 Do not boast about tomorrow, For you do not know what a day may bring forth.

Planning, scheduling and setting goals throughout our day is good. It helps us work more efficiently and makes sure we’re doing what needs to be done.

It’s only right that we do this if we want to be diligent with our time.

But, to go on and on about what we know and don’t know about tomorrow, a month from now or even a year from now is just a bunch of hot air.

We don’t know, and we should not boast or brag about it.

Some people can tell us stories about things they are facing, or maybe what they have walked through, that they never knew was going to happen. That’s what we are talking about.

Unexpected things happen.

People who live confidently, thinking they’ve got everything figured out, can be in for a rude awakening when things don’t go as planned.

We want to prepare you beforehand so that you don’t fall into despair or go off the deep end when the unexpected comes along.

None of us are promised a tomorrow. If we get a tomorrow, we need to be thankful and live it out as if it was our last day.

God did not make us to have everything planned out on our own. He made us to appreciate one day at a time. He made us a people that would walk with Him, lean and trust Him every day that we live and breathe.

But we think we have to try and fix things ourselves. We have to make things work the way we want them to and get it done in our time, not wanting to wait on Someone else.

Let’s face it, children of God. When Covid-19 came rolling in and changed everything, were we prepared for that?

No. We had no clue it was coming. And it changed how we did things with the snap of a finger.

So, we need to be sure that we don’t boast or brag about tomorrow, because only God knows what’s to come tomorrow. It’s safe to say we all can boast in Someone and that Someone is Him!!

1 Corinthians 1:31 (NIV) 31 Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”

Bible Verse of the Day – 10-16-20

1 Kings 8:22-23 (NKJV) 22 Then Solomon stood before the altar of the Lord in the presence of all the assembly of Israel, and spread out his hands toward heaven; 23 and he said: “Lord God of Israel, there is no God in heaven above or on earth below like You, who keep Your covenant and mercy with Your servants who walk before You with all their hearts.

These two verses were a small part of a lengthy prayer spoken by Solomon before the people of Israel. Solomon spoke this prayer after the ark of God had been transported and moved into the temple that he had built for God.

Today we want to focus on the last of the two verses, and more specifically, the last part of that verse; “Your servants who walk before You with all their hearts”.

As Solomon spoke before the people, he reminded them that God is faithful, as he reflected on God setting His people free from slavery in Egypt.

He then went on to address God Himself, stating that “there is no God in heaven above or on earth below like You”.

And then he qualified that statement with this: You keep your covenant and mercy with Your servants.

But he stated that God kept His covenant and mercy with a specific group or type of servant. Who were they? They were those servants “who walk before You with all their hearts”.

Now, this is not to insinuate that God always ends or nullifies His covenant, or removes His mercy, if people are unfaithful to Him. There are examples in His word where He did exactly that if He saw it was warranted.

But the emphasis here is that Solomon wanted people to understand that people whose hearts were wholly dedicated to God would receive God’s blessings in their fullness, not just in part.

This is the message we so frequently try to convey to the body of Christ. It is what we want so badly for all believers to understand.

To be clear, it isn’t even about the blessings. It’s more about that incredible walk with God that He wants us to have, so that we experience Him in His fullness and in a way that is truly life-changing.

So, we urge you today to walk before God with all your heart.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-15-20

Deuteronomy 28:2 (NKJV) 2 And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God…

When we obey the voice of the Lord God, His protection and blessings will be with us.

Obedience will activate the blessings of the Lord upon our lives.

Now, the blessings may not always be what we think they will be. But they will be what God knows is good for us and what we need at that time. Trusting Him with this is a sign of spiritual maturity.

Take, for instance, the Manna in the wilderness for the Israelites (Exodus 16:4). They were blessed, whether they realized it or not. The Manna kept them nourished and fed. God knew it would.

But they, on the other hand, complained and wanted meat.

God did eventually give them quail. But come on! The manna would have been more than sufficient for them.

Exodus 16:11-12 (NKJV) 11 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 12 “I have heard the complaints of the children of Israel. Speak to them, saying, ‘At twilight you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread. And you shall know that I am the Lord your God.’ ”

Who’s complaining that what God gives them is not enough?

Are we going to be satisfied with what God knows is good for us, or will we be like the Israelites and want more and more?

Let us learn to desire and want what God knows is good for us and be OK with it. Focus on obeying. Everything else will come supernaturally, by the hand of God. And it will be exactly what we need at any given time. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-14-20

1 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV) 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

There is a wealth of information in this verse, especially when it comes to understanding our relationship with God. So, we will take yet another look at it today, to glean as much as we can from it.

It’s important that we understand the fact that the natural man (our intellect) can’t receive (hear, comprehend, understand) the things of the Spirit of God.

Why?

Because they are spiritually discerned.

This means that without the Spirit of God being able to communicate with our spirit, there is no possible way for us to hear from God or understand the things of God.

If we were to try to understand the things of the Spirit of God solely with our intellect, and no knowledge of His word, they would seem foolish to us.

If we add some knowledge of His word, it may help us at least know that God is real, but we will still lack true understanding.

When we allow our spirit to hear from His Spirit, then we begin to get understanding that helps us put all of the pieces together, so to speak.

We start to see and understand things that were previously difficult for us to grasp. We start to hear God speak to us like we never have before. And we start to be able to walk with Him in ways that are absolutely life-changing.

Our spiritual ears begin to hear things that we never knew were there. Our spiritual eyes begin to see clearly, where they used to be dull and dark. And our own spirit begins to discern things of the spiritual realm that we didn’t even know existed.

The Bible tells us that we are comprised of a body, soul and spirit.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 (NKJV) 23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

It’s the spirit in us that God intended to be used for communing with Him and for Him to be able to communicate with us, all via our spirit, not our intellect. It’s our spirit that allows us to function as a mature believer.

So, until we realize this very important foundational truth, we will never truly be able to mature as a believer or fully develop our walk with God.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-13-20

Deuteronomy 32:48-50 (NKJV) 48 Then the Lord spoke to Moses that very same day, saying: 49 “Go up this mountain of the Abarim, Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, across from Jericho; view the land of Canaan, which I give to the children of Israel as a possession; 50 and die on the mountain which you ascend, and be gathered to your people, just as Aaron your brother died on Mount Hor and was gathered to his people;

As I read this verse today, my first thought was, “aw…poor Moses.”

I felt so bad that he didn’t get to enter the promised land, but was only able to view it from a distance.

I thought, “boy, he really got in trouble with that little maneuver he pulled, when he hit the rock to get water, instead of obeying God  and simply speaking to the rock”. (Numbers 20:8)

Even though he did get water from the rock by hitting it, it shows us that God does not look at the outcome of a situation. What means the most to Him is our obedience.

This is a very good lesson for us all.

How many of us have not entered into our promised land? And for what reason? Because we didn’t obey and do what He has told us to do.

Maybe God has let us look at what might have been ours if we had obeyed Him. Ouch.

I know this is hard to accept, but maybe it’s time for some of us to move on.

Don’t dwell there. Pick up the pieces, learn from it and keep walking.

God is a good God; He has a plan for us even if we miss it or mess things up at times.

It may not be exactly what we were hoping for but we can assure you that, because He is a loving Father, it will be better than we think.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-12-20

1 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV) 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

This scripture alone, if we really pay attention to it, will convince us that we need to approach our walk with God, and our time in His word, 100% spiritually.

It will also show us that we need to get understanding of things related to our spirit and the Holy Spirit, since it clearly states that the natural man cannot receive the things of the Spirit of God, since they are spiritually discerned.

Very much of what we have written lately has leaned toward or focused on this aspect of learning and getting understanding.

Why?

Because we have entered into a very intense season of spiritual warfare that requires razor-sharp discernment and deeper levels of spiritual understanding than what many of us are accustomed to.

We have all been required to grow during this time. It’s imperative that we not fight it, but let God move us toward what He is doing and expand our knowledge and understanding.

Our intellect and our natural understanding will not carry us through these types of seasons. They will leave us scratching our head and wondering what we are supposed to do, and wondering what so much of what we’re seeing really means.

The scripture above clearly states that our natural man (our intellect) can’t receive (understand or perceive) the things of the Spirit of God because they are foolishness to him.

This is why there has been such a push recently to help bring understanding of the things of the Spirit. And this is why it is so critical for us to let God show us these things.

Many times, when changes that God is ushering in coincide with natural events, it can be confusing to our minds. It can sometimes be hard to separate the two or make sense of it all.

But this is where that sharp discernment comes into play.

When we have sharp discernment, we will more readily recognize the moves of God and we will be able to tell when they are connected to or separated from the events we are seeing around us in the natural.

And even more importantly, when we begin to get a deeper understanding of the things of the Spirit, our walk with God will be much stronger and will flourish, as we learn to hear Him better and learn to obey His promptings more readily.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-10-20

Psalm 139:14 (NKJV) 14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

Oh my! We can’t tell you enough today how fearfully and wonderfully made you are. The God of the Heavens and Earth has created you. And you are amazing through His Son Jesus Christ, who dwells in you.

So, not only are we fearfully and wonderfully made, but we have His Spirit living in us.

Wow! Now, you tell me what we cannot do through Him.

Someone out there today needed to be reminded of who you are. And this word to you just ignited your faith. It gave you a little boost and you, my friend, are ready to take that step you’ve been waiting to take.

Remember, it’s not on your own, but in knowing who God has called you to be. And the door He has just opened up for you is so that He can lead you in it.

Don’t be afraid at what you face. Be reverently fearful and obedient toward the One who created you.

God bless you. Keep us posted on your adventure in Him. He will guide your every step as you trust Him.
