Bible Verse of The Day – 9-19-20

Deuteronomy 4:6 (NKJV) 6 Therefore be careful to observe them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear all these statutes, and say, ‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.’

We need wisdom to follow God.

We need wisdom to stay close to Him. We need His wisdom to make wise choices to do what we should do and not do what we shouldn’t do..

So, what is Moses talking about here? What is this “wisdom” he refers to? How do we get it, and where does it come from?

Moses is telling the Israelites that their wisdom comes from observing and following the Holy scriptures, which at that time were largely comprised of God’s statutes.

To observe (follow) the scriptures will bring wisdom and understanding, not just to us, but to all those around us.

Knowing what God says about certain situations is crucial.

2 Timothy 3:15 (NKJV) 15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Scripture reading will help us to know God better.

It will build our faith in Christ and help us to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. (Philippians 2:12)

It’s not an easy world we live in today. The atmosphere is tense and very heavy. But as we spend time in His word, we will know how to pray and what to pray for.

Our ears and eyes will be alert to what is going on in the Spirit world, and we have the tools (wisdom and understanding) if we stay in the Word of God.

2 Timothy 3:16 (NKJV) 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness…

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-18-20

1 Corinthians 2:2 (NKJV) 2 For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

The teaching of God’s word should always have one underlying principle. One truth that permeates everything about it; Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

Without Jesus as the foundation, nothing is done or said without the danger of possibly straying at some point.

When we leave Christ out as the foundation, we can get ourselves into some deep trouble if we’re not very, very careful.

He is everything.

He is the glue that holds everything else together. He is a shield of truth that fends off lies, deception, spiritual perversion and false teachings.

He is the truth.

John 14:6 (NKJV) 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Knowing this helps us to discern what we hear, especially when it comes to what we hear taught about God’s word or about the kingdom of God.

If what we hear revolves around Jesus, His crucifixion, His resurrection, His ascension, His deity and His active role in our everyday lives through the Holy Spirit, then we know that what we’re hearing has a firm foundation.

If, however, what we hear revolves around us always being happy, having a perfect life, making others like us, becoming wealthy, being popular, becoming famous, being successful, etc., we can be pretty sure that Jesus is, at best, on the fringe of what is being taught.

He is an afterthought used to put a pretty bow on a shiny package.

Run from this. Run fast and run far from it.

Run to Jesus, our Redeemer.

Determine in your heart to know Christ, and Him crucified.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-17-20

Psalm 127:3 (NKJV) 3 Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward.

A baby is a heritage from the Lord. A baby is a reward. Its conception, development and growth are miraculous.

The creation of a new human being is simply amazing. And if we really looked at it and what takes place, we would be in awe of what is actually going on inside the womb.

The law may say that abortion is OK. But we must remember that the choices we make are ultimately up to us.

It is us that will be accountable for our decisions.

Laws do not redeem us from our sins. Laws did not make a way for eternal life. Laws, and those who create them, do not call us sons and daughters.

We have a Father that cares deeply about us and the baby that has been conceived. He knows what is best for us, our situation and how things can be worked out for each situation.

Remember, a baby is the fruit of a womb, no matter how it came about or even the timing of its arrival.

God can turn things around if we trust Him to.

Don’t take life into our own hands. Let God breathe life into our situation and watch the outcome of it as we make the right choices.

We are talking to someone today who is on the verge of taking a child’s life. You feel stuck and you don’t know what to do. God is speaking to you today. Don’t choose death.

Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV) 3 You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.

Choose life and He will turn things around for you. Trust Him!

Dear God,

Please be with this Mother/Father today. Help them in all the fear they feel right now to choose the right thing. Help them to know that You will be there for them, and you can turn this situation around, bringing good things from it. Keep them safe in your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding.

Give them wisdom and strength to move forward. May you open the doors for them to walk through, making all things work together for good, for those that love You.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Romans 8:28 (NKJV) 28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

For those who have aborted a baby, you realize now that it was not the right choice. You are suffering from the after-effects. It may have been all that you knew to do at the time, and now you wish you had never done it. God hears your cry. He feels your pain. He is there for you.

Reach out to Him. Ask for His forgiveness. He will help heal your broken heart as you turn to Him.

Psalm 147:3 (NKJV) 3 He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.

Please write to us today and we will lift you up individually in prayer. God is faithful!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-16-20

Matthew 13:7 (NKJV) 7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them.

As I was working in my yard this morning, I was pulling up weeds. It was primarily crabgrass that had sprung up here and there.

While I was down on the ground pulling up these patches of crabgrass, I began to make some observations, and the Holy Spirit began to speak to me.

First, I noticed that the crabgrass, although spread out, didn’t have a very large root system. The roots were deep and stubborn, but not very wide.

Second, under the canopy of this invasive grass, many other things were hiding, such as various bugs and unwanted creatures, like grubs.

And as the crabgrass spread outward, it killed everything else around it because it choked it all out by either growing right over the top of it, and starving it of sunlight, or by strangling it with its many “arms” and “tentacles”.

It was while I was making these observations that the Holy Spirit began to speak and teach me a few things.

It reminded me of the parable that Jesus had shared, about the sower and the seeds.

Matthew 13:22 (NKJV) 22 Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

He showed me how that crabgrass was like the cares of the world. He also showed me that it went beyond that.

The cares of the world are dangerous for believers. They try to slowly overtake us, robbing us of our time and stealing our joy. They pull us away from God if we let them. They can choke our relationship with Him until it starves and dies a slow, painful death.

More than that, as we become absorbed in the cares of the world, and our spirit starts to succumb to them, those cares become like the crabgrass.

They begin to act like a cover, concealing things in us that are unwanted and dangerous, like the pests hidden beneath the crabgrass, doing damage behind the scenes, eating away at whatever is good, until our walk with God dies a slow death due to starvation.

It’s important that we safeguard our spirit from this, being careful to keep the cares of the world in check, being sure not to let them overtake us and kill us spiritually.

So, be careful. Be discerning, using caution and the wisdom of God’s word in the choices and decisions we make each and every day.

And, most importantly, if we recognize that we may have begun to fall prey to the cares of the world, we can’t be ashamed to admit it.

It’s our honesty with God and with our self that will help us overcome these kinds of obstacles and keep our walk with God growing and flourishing, as we repent for the mistakes we’ve made and set things right in our hearts.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-15-20

John 11:35 (NKJV) 35 Jesus wept.

Many people are going through things and they are afraid to let go. They think they have to hold back the tears because if they don’t people might think they are not strong.

When we hold back the tears, we are denying ourselves healing. We are ignoring the fact that we are hurting and we need gentle, tender, loving care. By ignoring this and denying ourselves the healing we need, we are putting ourselves at risk of getting hard and bitter.

Hardness will make us think no one is there for us. No one cares. Not even God.

It will make us think things like maybe even God does not hear us.

Hardness has a voice and it’s not nice. It’s mean, angry and frustrated.

A hard, bitter heart cannot function properly. It gets off track quickly. It needs help.

Maybe today you are facing or dealing with a tragedy. You don’t know how to get past it, let it go and start over.

Don’t hold in what needs to come out. Shed some tears and talk to God. Your healing will find you.

Psalm 38:8 (NKJV) 8 I am feeble and severely broken; I groan because of the turmoil of my heart.

If Jesus wept, then it’s OK for us to weep.

It’s not a sign of weakness, no matter how many people say it is.

It is a sign of recognizing what just took place and realizing that we need to let God be God and help us be lifted up.

Cry on His shoulder.

Psalm 3:3 (NKJV) 3 But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-14-20

Hebrews 5:12 (NKJV) 12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.

Growing and maturing as a believer is a serious topic that we all should ponder and seek God about.

When we are born again, it is implied by various passages and texts in God’s word that we, as believers, should grow and mature.

Nowhere is it ever implied that we should remain as spiritual infants, lacking maturity or growth.

In Paul’s letter to the Corinthian believers, he scolded them for being immature. He told them plainly that he should be able to give them meat, but due to their lack of maturity he was forced to still be feeding them milk.

1 Corinthians 3:2 (NKJV) 2 I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able;

Not growing as a believer is due to a few different factors.

One, we don’t fully understand or appreciate what Christ did for us. And, two, we don’t have someone to properly teach us beyond the basics of Christianity.

It’s up to us to learn and recognize what God has done for us through His grace and His mercy, offering forgiveness of sins through the blood of Christ. Getting understanding of this alone will usually be enough to cause us to want to learn more and more of Him, spurring up forward in our growth and maturity.

It is also up to us to dig in and learn God’s word in a way that helps us grow in our everyday lives as believers.

Most times this works best when we sit under someone (a person or organization) who can lead us and guide us in getting understanding of God’s word so it can be properly applied to our hearts and lives.

Having someone to guide us in our learning is important, as it can help us navigate through whatever parts of God’s word that we may have trouble understanding.

It also helps us when we can glean pieces of wisdom and understanding from them as they share things they have learned as they have walked through various things in their lives.

Most importantly, all of this can help us gain insight and discernment as we learn to see God move and hear Him speak to our spirit, leading and guiding us every step of the way.

If you’re interested in learning more about this, we have created a three-part video series on this topic. You can view video #1 here: The Process – Part 1.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-12-20

Psalm 119:28 (NKJV) 28 My soul melts from heaviness; Strengthen me according to Your word.

How many times a week does our soul feel like it is melting from heaviness?

We are just overwhelmed with so many changes, so much to do and such a little amount of time to get it done.

Or maybe we are dealing with family issues and it is getting to be so tiring and overwhelming.

Maybe we are just bored with the same ole things day after day and we are melting from the repetition of it all. There is nothing keeping us happy; no joy to be found. Everything just seems out of whack.

God, help us to keep living!!

That’s exactly what it will take; God to help us and strengthen us according to His word.

Don’t try to understand it all. Most of it is not for us to understand. We need to keep on doing what we need to do to get through.

The heaviness of everyday stuff is real, children of God. We all feel it.

It doesn’t matter whether the smile on our face hides it well. It doesn’t get rid of it.

What takes the heaviness away? God’s strength.

He gives us the strength to push it back and to keep us going with the right attitude.

The big question is whether or not we will let God strengthen us enough, through His word, to get us past it, so we don’t give in to it and melt away for good.

John 14:19 (NKJV) 19 “A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also.

We live and we keep on living because God is alive in us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-11-20

Proverbs 15:1 (NKJV) 1 A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.

The words we speak can have a large impact on our lives and the lives of others.

Part of how they impact people is more than just what we say. It’s in how we say them.

When someone is combative and argumentative, the worst thing we can do is argue back with them.

The best thing we can do is speak softly and with kindness, even if our flesh tells us otherwise.

This is a very hard thing for some of us to learn, especially if we have a strong personality that feels the urge to “set people straight” all the time.

But I have personally seen this defuse many tense situations over the years.

And if speaking kindly to someone who is being belligerent and offensive doesn’t defuse the situation, it’s probably best to walk away anyway, since arguing with them won’t accomplish anything.

There’s nothing deeply spiritual about this. It’s just tried and true wisdom from Solomon, someone who had lots more experience than most of us ever will when it comes to dealing with many different people of varying personality types across a multitude of situations.

Despite its simplicity, it can be life-changing for so many of us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-10-20

2 Timothy 4:3 (NKJV) 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers…

There is so much out there today that will tickle our ears. We can pick and choose what we want to hear. And of course, line it up with what makes us feel good about ourselves or our opinion.

What good is it if we get to heaven and find out that what we were doing was wrong? Will we simply say to God, “oops, that isn’t what my teacher told me. He/she said it was OK to continue in what I was doing.”?

Do we think God is going to say, “oh, it’s OK. You didn’t know better. Let me deal with your teacher. It’s their fault they misled you.“?

No. It’s our responsibility to dig in and find the truth. It’s our responsibility to pay close attention to the guidance of the Holy Spirit and obey His leading.

Let us not be ruled by our desires and spend all our time searching for someone to tickle our ears so we can continue to feel good in doing what we know we need to change.

Psalm 119:30 (NKJV) 30 I have chosen the way of truth; Your judgments I have laid before me.

God is faithful to lead us with sound doctrine that He has provided for each one of us. His word brings truth.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-9-20

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (NKJV) 9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

We are living in an age where anything goes.

Morals have been degraded to the point where there is very little that is considered to be truly wrong.

Babies are killed by the hundreds of thousands each year while still in their mother’s womb.

Children are stolen and trafficked for sex.

The holy institution of marriage has been largely destroyed and nullified.

The traditional family, established by God, has been torn apart.

People are told that they can choose their own gender based on how they feel on any given day, despite what their biological body parts tell them.

Men are allowed to enter the restrooms of women, and those women (including little girls) are powerless to stop it.

And the list could go on, and on and on.

Depravity has become the norm, as a large percentage of people across the globe accept this behavior and say or do nothing to stop it.

And sadly, even members of the body of Christ have embraced some of this as being OK.

We are here today to stand and boldly proclaim that none of this is OK. None of this is acceptable in God’s sight.

It was said by God in His word that it is wrong, and that still holds true today.

This may not be popular to speak or to say. It may anger some. It may bring the wrath of some others upon us for speaking it. But truth is still truth, no matter what century we are living in.

In the verses above, Paul is speaking to the church; Christians, not the world.

He was making it clear that this is not acceptable behavior for believers. And he did so in no uncertain terms, with no apologies.

If you are unsure about any of this, we implore you to dig into God’s word and seek the truth. Everything we need in order to find truth is there. We just need to seek it out.

That truth will set us free if we let it. It will break the chains of bondage if we let it. It will transform our hearts and minds, and change our lives in ways that we could never imagine, if we let it.

Will we let it?
