Bible Verse of The Day – 8-31-20

Joshua 9:14 (NKJV) 14 Then the men of Israel took some of their provisions; but they did not ask counsel of the Lord.

Israel had been on a massive conquest. And by God’s leading and direction, they had defeated many enemies, taking their land and expanding the Israelite territory.

Every time they would seek God’s counsel and followed His leading, they were victorious in their battles.

Word of their victories and of the fierceness of their God had spread throughout the land, causing other nations to fear Israel greatly.

The nation of Gibeon was one of those that was in great fear. So, they devised a plan to deceive Israel and convince them to enter into a treaty to prevent being conquered and wiped out.

As the envoys of Gibeon spoke with Joshua, they lied and said that they had traveled from a distant land, taking so long that their food had spoiled and their clothing had worn out during the lengthy journey. In reality, they traveled only a short distance and had purposely brought moldy bread and worn out clothing as part of their ploy.

Joshua and the others examined their food and their possessions and saw the condition. And without consulting God, they entered into a covenant with them, sparing Gibeon from being attacked.

In short, they were deceived. They took the bait and fell for the lies.

Why? Because they failed to seek God and get His input. And now, because they had given their word to the people of Gibeon, their hands were tied.

It’s important that we don’t follow in the footsteps of Israel and do the same thing. We need to get God’s counsel on every decision we make; especially very big decisions that have the potential to have a major impact on our lives.

Sometimes things aren’t what they look like on the surface.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-30-20 – The Process – Part 1

Please click to watch the video.Greetings!

Did you know that our walk with God is a process? It’s a process that never ends, at least not until we leave this earth.

In today’s video, The Process (Part 1), we discuss how all of this comes together as we walk with God, and how it impacts our growth and maturity as a believer.

We have to admit that the first few minutes of the video took an unexpected turn and caught us a bit off guard. But it all turned out good!

We hope you will take a few minutes to watch this and then share it with others that might benefit from it.

Please click here to watch the video now.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-29-20

Matthew 5:16 (NKJV) 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

If there is a time to shine brightly, it is now!

We have to let God’s light shine for all the world to see.

There is so much going on right now behind the scenes, in the spiritual realm, that if we were to see it at work completely, we could get very distracted. Maybe even to the point of being fearful and not being able to move because of that fear.

We can’t let it distract us.

We have a purpose here and that is to shine before men. That is to pick up our torch and run with the strength and joy that God has placed within us. That is to not let situations, words, looks, or even attitudes keep us from moving forward.

We need to keep our flesh down. Keep it from joining in and acting like the world is acting in these times. Let God’s precious light shine bright and lead the way to freedom. Amen.

Shine bright, child of God. Be a leader, not a follower!

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-28-20

Matthew 11:12 (NKJV) 12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.

We live in a natural world. We can see it, touch it, hear it and smell it. It is tangible.

The world we do battle in, however, is not natural at all. It is spiritual. 100% spiritual.

We fight battles for a spiritual kingdom. It is God’s kingdom, unseen by natural eyes.

As time has gone by, we often spoke of the coming kingdom as though it was a long way off, far into the future.

Recently, though, we have started realizing that it may be closer than we had thought. Recent events have shown us that darkness has been greatly on the increase.

Don’t get me wrong. It has been there all along, working behind the scenes. But now it is more visible than ever, not even trying to hide any longer.

It is now bold, in our faces and no longer trying to disguise itself.

So, what does this mean for us, as believers?

It means that we do battle. We fight. We meet attacks with attacks.

These attacks, though, are not physical. They are not natural. They are spiritual. Nothing more, nothing less.

Yes, we still live in a natural world. We see things with our natural eyes that can sometimes clue us in as to the intent of the enemy. Our biggest weapons, however, are what we see and discern in the spiritual realm.

The verse above says that the kingdom of heaven suffers violence. It is hit with violent attacks. It is under a constant onslaught of the enemy and his evil forces. Some of those forces are unseen. Others are people that we see operating day to day, right before our eyes.

What do we do with that?

We do battle! We fight back. We meet violence with violence.

But this is a different kind of violence. This is not violence against people. It is violence against our invisible enemy and his armies.

Our reaction has to be radical, forceful and relentless.

There will also be things that we do in the natural that help expose the enemy and break down the defenses they have setup here in our natural world.

Being a Christian doesn’t mean that we should just lay down and submit when we see evil being played out.

On the contrary, it is because we are a Christian that we need to stand up and fight when we see this evil.

We fight it with truth. We fight it on a spiritual level, using discernment that doesn’t come by way of intellect or natural thinking.

Discernment is of the utmost importance, lest we end up like Peter, cutting off the ear of one of the soldiers who came to arrest Jesus.

We need to know when to speak, and when to be silent, when to attack and when to pull back.

We need to know when to “wield a sword” in the natural and when to wield a sword in the spiritual realm.

The battles are intensifying, so it’s important that our understanding and ability to see and hear what the Spirit is saying also intensifies.

Press in to Him.

As one disciple did, we need to lay our head on the chest of Jesus, so we can hear His very heart beat.

Revelation 3:22 (NKJV) 22 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-27-20

Exodus 25:2 (NKJV) 2 “Speak to the children of Israel, that they bring Me an offering. From everyone who gives it willingly with his heart you shall take My offering.

It’s important that we give an offering to God. Just as important is how we give it. And He does take note

He is looking for a willing heart, not a heart that says, “well, I need Him to do this for me, so I’ll give to Him an offering and we will see what happens from there”.

Even if God does nothing for us in return, our heart needs to be right as we do the right thing.

I remember many years ago there was this little boy who was around 10 yrs. of age. One day, as he saw his single Mom put her offering in an envelope, he said, “Mom, how much money is in there?”.

She told him and he said, “WOW…that’s a lot of money to give to the church.”

Isn’t it funny how satan can even use a child at times to dissuade us from doing the right thing?

At that moment, he planted a seed in his Mom’s heart; a seed of doubt regarding her giving. From that day, forward, she began to question it. Her offering got smaller and smaller, until she gave no more.

And today, she is on a different path. Her heart has grown hard.

If we let our mind speak to our heart about our offering to God, we will most likely pull back on our giving, and our willingness to give will be tainted. It is also very possible that our heart and walk may change too.

When our mind starts to question our heart’s willingness to give, we will talk ourselves out of what we are to give every time.

Give with a willing heart what is rightfully God’s, and then some. God sees our willingness and we will reap from it. It won’t go unnoticed.

Are we struggling with giving to God today? Did someone or a situation arise and plant a seed of doubt in our heart?

Resist it and do what is right. Give willingly to God what is His, and watch our every need be met and more so.

God is faithful, and He watches for our willingness and obedience as to how we handle what He has blessed us with.

2 Corinthians 9:7 (NKJV) 7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-26-20

Genesis 19:26 (NKJV) 26 But his wife looked back behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

We recently wrote a devotional that spoke about the current events, and how important it is that we not get stuck looking back at the way things were.

In response to that devotional, we had a few people email us with questions, looking for clarification as to what we were referring to, or exactly what we meant.

We responded to the emails, but wanted to write a bit more today, to bring further clarity and understanding.

As we’ve also written about a lot in the past, it’s important that we not get stuck always looking back at past events, longing to go back to the way things were. It’s not what God intends for us.

As I like to say quite often, God created us with eyes in the front of our heads so we can look forward, not back.

Seasons change. In fact, change is the only real constant in life. Life is not static, even though we might sometimes think we would like it to be that way.

With changing seasons comes changes in our situations. Some of those changes are very big. They can send us reeling if we are not firmly grounded in God.

Even if we have a great walk with God, they can still knock the wind out of us sometimes.

This is why Jesus taught that it is important to learn to discern the spiritual seasons, not just the natural seasons.

Luke 12:56 (NKJV) 56 Hypocrites! You can discern the face of the sky and of the earth, but how is it you do not discern this time?

Knowing what’s happening, and what’s on the horizon, so to speak, will help keep us from being caught off guard and will help us spot our enemy when he is planning and strategizing.

And, just as importantly, when our walk with God is strong, we won’t spend our lives looking back over our shoulders, wishing we could go back to what was familiar and comfortable.

This is not a slam toward those who like to reminisce. Not at all. Having pleasant memories to enjoy is good. It means that we treasure what we have had in the past.

The key, though, is not to long to go back there, being ungrateful or unthankful for what God is doing right here, right now.

The Israelites were terribly guilty of this, as God led them through the wilderness toward the new land that He had promised them.

Despite the fact that He literally sheltered them from the hot sun by day with a cloud, lit the night up with fire, fed them and provided for their every need, they whined and cried that they just wanted to go back to Egypt. What a serious slap in God’s face that was.

This is why it’s critical that we press in to Him, listen for His heart and His spirit, to know what he is saying right now, in this season of change.

I know this has been a bit lengthy, but it is necessary in order to make sure that we understand the importance of moving with God, looking to Him for every answer that we need, and then stepping forward with Him as He leads us.

And as we do so, we need not ever look back. Ever.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-25-20

2 Corinthians 7:1 (NKJV) 1 Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Today we want to talk about the difference between fake religion and a real relationship.

The most disgusting and filthy thing that can happen to any of us is that we think we are walking with God, but then we find ourselves caught up in something less; a false religion.

Many years ago I learned there is quite a difference. But it is so very easy to be fooled if we are not sure of God’s word.

If we take everything to heart that a person may say, but fail to decipher or filter it through the Bible, we could be in that place right now and not even know it.

Fake religion is tricky and can seem so close to what the real thing looks like, that if we don’t have the Holy Spirit guiding us, prompting us and helping us, we will not see it even when we are walking in the midst of it.

A real relationship with God comes with a manual of instructions; His word! Sometimes this manual won’t make us feel good, especially when we are being chastened at times.

It doesn’t always look so good on the surface, especially when we have no clue about His timing or the outcome of a situation.

And having this real relationship with Him doesn’t always get us what we want. Sometimes it gets us just the opposite. Ouch!

We have to trust that He will always lead us into taking the right steps, toward what is best for us.

You see, fearing God comes when we have a real relationship with Him, when we get to know Him personally and we learn of His magnificence and His awesome love for us.

Our love will grow deeper and we will build a more reverent relationship towards Him.

This will never happen when we are running around in a fake religion, or in an organization that has us constantly hyped up, always feeling good, tickling our ears, and building us up in ourselves. No!

But healthy fear comes when a  truthful and real relationship begins.

We need to cleanse ourselves from the filthiness of the flesh, get our hearts in a right relationship with God, and we will walk in wisdom.

Proverbs 1:7 (NKJV) 7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-24-20

Deuteronomy 6:5 (NKJV) 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

I’m a passionate person. Whatever I do, I do it with everything in me. It’s all or nothing.

Because of that, I have to be careful not to get involved in too many different things. Doing so would not only take up every waking hour of every day, but it would cause me to become less than my very best at all that I do.

So, God has taught me to limit what I choose to do.

Most of all, though, He has taught me to make sure that I always, always, always keep Him at the top of all that I do.

With all that is currently going on in the world, I have had to tread very carefully when it comes to what I spend my time on.

There is so much that I would like to do when it comes to researching information and making sure I have a good grasp of what we are seeing happening on a global level, etc.

But God has shown me that this is not where He wants me to spend much of my time.

Yes, I need to understand what I am seeing on a global level. But more than that, I need to stay close to Him and continue to grow my understanding of Him, His ways, and what He is doing in the earth.

I am thankful that He keeps me in line and chastens me when I need it. It’s what a good Father does.

Hebrews 12:6 (NKJV) 6 For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-23-20 – Words and Weapons

Please click to watch the video now.Greetings!

We trust that you are walking closely with God, our Creator and Savior.

No two battles are ever the same. And the direction any battle takes can be determined by many factors.

One of those factors is the way we speak about our situation. That may sound a bit confusing, but we expound on this in today’s video, Words and Weapons.

We share Biblical principles about this as we teach, hoping to bring clarity where there may be confusion for many people.

We hope you’ll take a few minutes to watch it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-22-20

1 Peter 4:10 (NKJV) 10 As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

Godly gifts are in each one of us, and He will call us to use them as we walk through this journey as His children.

Your gift is important to others. It is needed to minister to others with at times! Sometimes it can be the very thing that brings change of direction to them, putting them or leading them onto a different path.

Maybe it helps them see things in a different way.

Shining a light in a dark place always helps us to see what is up ahead, as God encourages us, even by the gifts of others.

What is our gift today? Are we using it?

Our gift is usually something that we move strongly in. It’s something that takes no effort for us to do, and it just comes naturally to us.

It is often the very thing that brings encouragement and strength to those around us.

That gift is so important and can be very powerful to others in need of it.

We as God’s children need to begin to step out and use our gift as He prompts us to do so. Don’t let it lay dormant.

We are here with a gift. Let us walk strongly in it to bring glory to our heavenly Papa.

1 Peter 4:11 (NKJV) 11 If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-21-20

Numbers 31:14 (NKJV) 14 But Moses was angry with the officers of the army, with the captains over thousands and captains over hundreds, who had come from the battle.

God had spoken to Moses and told him to send Israelite warriors into Midian to slaughter them as vengeance for what some of their women had done.

These women had seduced some of the Israelite men. And once they had seduced them, they had coaxed them into worshiping their idols and false gods.

God’s anger burned against them, and against the men who had allowed themselves to be seduced and led into idolatry.

As punishment for the Israelite men, God had ordered them to be put to death. Later, as punishment for the Midianite women, God had ordered the attack on Midian and the complete destruction of the entire nation.

So, as the soldiers returned home with plunder, including the women of Midian, Moses confronted them with what they had done. He then gave them specific instructions as to how they could remedy the situation and make up for their poor judgment.

It is important that we listen closely when God speaks and follow His instructions and His leading as closely as possible.

Sometimes we will get it 100% right. Other times we may miss the mark. Thankfully, as we grow and mature, we will miss the mark less and less frequently.

But as we go through the growing pains and we learn more of God, His mercy is available to us.

In the days of Moses, many thousands of people were put to death over the years due to making wrong choices. If they failed in their mission due to disobedience, it often meant losing their life for their lack of obeying.

Today, living under grace, we have the opportunity to confess and repent, and then learn from our poor choices.

As I often ponder on these types of situations that I read about in the Old Testament; I am surely glad that we don’t live in those days. But that we live under the blood of Christ, where God’s grace prevails.

Amen.
