Bible Verse of The Day – 4-30-20

1 Timothy 1:15 (NKJV) 15 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.

What is Paul admitting to here?

He’s talking about how his life was conducted before Christ came into it. He was chief sinner. Anyone who refers to being a chief usually means that they are the leader, or the head honcho.

How many of us today will admit this so easily and readily, like Paul did? To be honest, no one, really.

Romans 6:17 (NKJV) 17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered.

This is the best part. Even though we all sin at one time or another, and some of us, so we think, are better at it than others, Jesus Christ has set us free and we no longer have to be slaves to it.

Obey God’s word, repent, believe in His son, Jesus, and we will be free.

Will we still sin at times? Yes, because we don’t become perfect. Our flesh is still with us.

But we become saved, we are now covered by the blood of Jesus Christ. And through Him, we can repent and ask God’s forgiveness, and be set free from those things that tempt our flesh.

2 Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV) 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Sin is always going to try to get in our way. But Jesus will help us to live right. It’s in Him we become the righteousness of God, through His cleansing blood.

Holy Spirit, our Helper, help us stay in Him. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-29-20

Galatians 5:1 (NKJV) 1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.

Stand fast: Remain where you are. Don’t stray. Don’t wander. Don’t leave where you are.

All of these indicate that if we are in Christ, we need to stay put, not wandering from where we are.

We have been given salvation, liberty, and freedom from the bondage of the law and of the flesh, by God’s grace.

By this salvation, Christ has made us free!

Never again should we be entangled, enslaved or burdened by the yoke of bondage, manmade religion and rituals, with its rules, laws and burdens.

Jesus didn’t die for us so we could brush off what He did and tangle ourselves up in the bondage of religion.

On the contrary, He died to set us free from these types of entanglements.

The verse above was written by Paul, warning Christians of that time not to allow themselves to become tied up in the Jewish law.

In today’s times, there is even more that we can get caught up in, causing us to forget what Jesus did for us, and, more importantly, why He did it.

He died not only to save us from our sinful selves, but also to allow us access to the Father, without having to jump through hoops to obtain that access.

Stand fast, and do not be entangled again.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-28-20

Philippians 1:6 (NKJV) 6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ…

Sometimes we may be the only one God can use to get a particular job started, to get it moving forward or to break the ground open.

It’s not the easiest thing to do. As a matter of fact, sometimes it can be the worst job of them all. We may take heat because of it. It can be stressful, tiring and overwhelming at times.

But, with God’s instructions, strength, discernment and wisdom, He will always go before us and lead us into the what and the how to get it done.

All it takes is one sincere and loyal heart. One with compassion and the willingness to obey. One that doesn’t buck, but listens and follows, even when we may not understand it all.

It takes one person to start a ripple. And from there, who knows what will become of it? All we know is we’ve got to stand, obey and be willing to let God use us on this journey.

This earth is not our home, where we will live forever. We are just passing through. What will we be used for, in order to make a difference?

Maybe God is speaking to us today, and we have been feeling like we need to step it up. We’re not sure how, or the timing of it all.

We need to let God know we are willing, but we need the details, the how and the timing.

The first step is always to bring what we may be feeling to Him. Get clarity and direction.

The second step is to get understanding about the timing.

The third step is to take action when the door opens.

God is good. What He starts, He will finish, if we obey and follow His commands.

On this journey with Him, we will grow. We will change. We will learn to surrender, and we will learn to obey. We will bear fruit. Amen!

John 15:16 (NKJV) 16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-27-20

Romans 10:17 (NKJV) 17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

If there is one thing that God has shown me over and over again, it is this; You have to have your own faith and your own walk. Nobody can believe for you or walk the walk for you.

So many of us look at others around us and like what we see. We long to have what they have when it comes to their faith or their relationship with God.

While that might seem innocent, it really means that we are either lacking terribly in our walk with God, or it means that we are coveting what someone else has because we don’t think we can have it.

Here’s the good news, though!

We don’t need to want someone else’s walk with God. Why? Because He wants us to have one of our own that’s even better!

This doesn’t mean that our walk with God will be better than theirs. It means that our walk with God will be better for us because it will be ours, not theirs.

God wants us to build our relationship with Him so we can commune with Him in a way that’s meaningful and helpful to us. If all we do is mimic someone else, we will be left wanting. We will never feel complete, and our spirit will not be getting the nurturing and sustenance that it needs to thrive and grow.

How do we do this? We let God feed us and nurture us through His word.

We feast on His word daily. We take it in. We digest it. We ponder on it. We let it soak into our spirit. And we let it permeate our very being.

Then, a little tiny bit at a time, it will begin to change us, from the inside, out.

And, in time, it will not only become something that we can’t live without, but it will change almost everything about us in ways that we never even dreamed possible.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-25-20

Mark 10:14 (NKJV) 14 But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.

We have been receiving prayer requests for children a lot lately and it just pains me to hear of suffering children.

I always think, “why children?”. Then I am reminded the devil doesn’t care who it is. He wants to kill, steal and destroy everyone.

Thank God He is faithful!, whether we are a child or an adult. He can heal both. God wants us to teach our children how to come to Him, in good times, and in hard times. In times of sickness, and times of rejoicing!

Just recently a little 6 yr. old girl needed prayer. The father wrote in from India. He said she was sick with a fever, not eating and she had ulcers in her little mouth. He was very worried and concerned about her.

Oh, the power of Prayer. Today we received an email saying his little girl is healed. Praise be to God Almighty! May that little child know her HEALER!

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NKJV) 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Pray for our children, whether they are sick or they need guidance. Maybe they are being led down the wrong path, hanging with the wrong crowd and developing addictions. Let them know Who God is. Teach them to run to Him in prayer.

Don’t give up on our children, no matter how bad it may seem. God is faithful! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-24-20

2 Timothy 3:1 (NKJV) 3 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:

There is so much going on in the spirit realm right now. There is activity like we have not seen or felt before. It’s very intense, to say the least.

It’s up to us, as believers, to discern these things and let God show us how to handle it; When to pray, what to pray, how to pray.

Evil has increased markedly in the United States, where we live. But there is also a worldwide ramp-up happening, as more and more global players step out from behind their respective curtains and become visible at various levels.

It is not yet time for the rapture. That much is very clear. But we are moving closer and closer, as the days and months go by and events begin to unfold right before our eyes.

We want to let you know that we don’t need to be fearful as we watch these things unfold.

If our faith and trust is in the One who holds the earth and the stars in His hands, then we are on a firm foundation. Nothing can move us as long as we hold fast to our Rock.

He is our assurance, our comfort, our defender and much more. In Him we have everything we need.

And as long as we hold steadfast, not letting our faith wane or waver, we have nothing to fear.

The winds and the waves may come, but nothing can move a house whose foundation is built on the Rock.

Matthew 7:24-25 (NKJV) 24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-23-20

Romans 1:18 (NKJV) 18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness…

My heart goes out to the lost.

I know, though, that men choose their path. We all do. And at times some will deliberately reject God. That’s right; they choose the unrighteous path.

And God can’t stand it. He really cannot STAND to be near or around sin. So, what does that tell us? If we are deliberately choosing sin, and ignoring truth, He will not and cannot be near us, even if He loves us.

That’s why when Jesus was on the cross, He cried out, “why have you forsaken me?”.

Matthew 27:46 (NKJV) 46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

For a short time, Jesus felt the hell experience. He was separated from God because He took on complete identification with sinners.

He took the punishment that we deserved. He carried the burden of humanity’s sin, for us, so we wouldn’t have to experience it.

God cannot be near sin.

God’s personal wrath against sin is no joke. Rather than bringing Him glory, sin brings dishonor against God and contradicts His Holy, moral character.

It doesn’t matter how bad our sin is, because sin in God’s eyes is sin. There is no depth to it. It’s all bad.

Sin will suppress or, in other words, restrain, stifle, conceal or smother truth.

The good news is that, even though God can not come near sin, He sent us a Savior.

That savior is Jesus Christ, His only Son, who suffered and died for each one of us. He did this so that through His perfect cleansing blood that was shed for us on the cross, we too can confess our sins, ask for God’s forgiveness and He will draw near, forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:9 (NKJV) 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Oh, the precious blood of Jesus that washes our sins away! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-22-20

John 13:9 (NKJV) 9 Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!”

As Jesus was spending His last hours with the disciples, He prepared to wash their feet.

This confused the disciples. They couldn’t understand why Jesus, the Messiah, would want to wash their undoubtedly dusty feet. He was, after all, God with us.

Their lack of understanding led Peter to strongly object to this act. But Jesus stood His ground, telling Peter that if He couldn’t wash their feet, they could have no part with Him.

John 13:8 (NKJV) 8 Peter said to Him, “You shall never wash my feet!” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.”

After Jesus gave them understanding, Peter then exclaimed that He wanted Jesus to wash not only his feet, but his hands and head also.

Jesus made it plain that if we want to be a true follower, we need to allow Him to “wash” us, making us clean.

This is actually very symbolic, indicating that when we embrace Jesus and we put our faith in Him, He cleanses (washes) us spiritually.

One of the most important takeaways from this exchange between Jesus and Peter is the fact that Jesus told Peter very plainly that if we do not allow Him to wash us, we can have no part of Him.

So, what does that mean for us? It means that He wants us to surrender to Him, so He can wash us.

It doesn’t necessarily mean that we give up who we are. After all, God made each of us unique. He isn’t interested in cookie cutter believers.

Instead, He wants us to let Him mold and shape who He made us, but also allow Him to remove those things that come between us and Him. That is what He means.

It can sometimes be a little rough as He washes us, since some of our “dirt” may have been there for a while and requires extra scrubbing to loosen and remove it.

But the end result is more than worth the temporary discomfort, when we declare, as Peter did, “Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!”.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-21-20

Proverbs 3:9-10 (NKJV) 9 Honor the Lord with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase; 10 So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.

To honor, means to do what is required by something, such as a promise or a contract. An example would be honoring the Lord with our possessions, with our firstfruits of our increase.

This is how we walk in the fullness of God, by honoring Him first in everything.

What are some of the reasons we don’t honor God with our firstfruits or our increase?

We have this idea that churches just want to take our money.

We haven’t made that commitment in our heart yet because we’re waiting for the right timing.

We think it is only for the Old Testament days.

We just can’t let our money go.

Our faith is not there yet; we don’t believe or trust that He will do what He says He will do and we don’t want to chance it.

These excuses will keep us miserable, constantly fighting to make ends meet. They will rob us of God’s joy and the life He has for us.

Luke 6:38 (NKJV) 38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

We have to learn to let go of what we think, and let God show us His promise.

Are we willing to give to Him from our firstfruits and our increase, and watch Him take good care of our every need?

It’s totally up to us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-20-20

John 12:42-43 (NKJV) 42 Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; 43 for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

As the time drew near for Jesus to be crucified, many people confessed their faith in Him.

Even some of the Jewish religious leaders believed. Sadly, though, they were intimidated by the Pharisees, and they chose to keep their faith to themselves, for fear of being kicked out of the synagogue and being ridiculed or punished.

The desire for the praise of men can be very powerful in the lives of some. We all wrestle with this to some degree at some point in our lives.

For some of us it can be a huge obstacle to growing our relationship with God. This is especially true when it comes to being outspoken about our faith.

Let’s face it. It’s easy to quietly have faith in God. It’s yet another thing for us to be outward about our faith.

But here’s the thing that we often overlook. Demonstrating our faith outwardly is about more than just our words. It is also about our actions.

Not everyone is created to be an evangelist or a public speaker. But each and every one of us can walk out our faith in the things we do each and every day!

And, as Jesus said, if our faith is genuine, we should not be afraid of what people think of us.

Matthew 10:32-33 (NKJV) 32 “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. 33 But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.

Remember, it’s not just about what we say, but about what we do also. And the desire for people’s praise should never outweigh the desire for God’s commendation.
