Bible Verse of The Day – 3-20-20

Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV) 6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

This is a well-known verse that we often see and hear quoted around Christmas time. And while it’s understandable that it would be used as such, there is much more going on here!

As of the day and moment that this is being written, much of the world is in a state of panic. Coronavirus is making its way around the globe. The media is causing fear and trepidation in the hearts of millions as they focus on this sickness and put fear into the hearts of men and women.

And while there is cause for concern, it’s important that we not let the hype and the fear take hold of our hearts.

Why?

Because we live under the hand of the Prince of Peace, the Everlasting Father, Mighty God.

You see, a Godless society has nowhere to run. They have no one to go to for peace, solace or answers to their questions and fears. It is for this reason that we see the panic on an increasing frequency and level over the last decade, as God has been pushed aside and largely eliminated from so many societies.

As followers of Christ, children of the Most High God, we don’t have to fall into the hysteria or panic. On the contrary, we should be peaceful and of sound mind during these times.

It doesn’t mean that we don’t see the seriousness of a situation. It simply means that we know the One who gives a peace that surpasses all understanding, even when the world looks like it’s falling apart.

Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV) 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Trust Him. Cling to Him. Press in to Him. Draw near to Him.

And while the world around us gets whipped into a frenzy by Godless people who have no spiritual understanding, and no sense of who He is, we look to Him for everything that we need, trusting that He will guide our each and every step.

Bible Verse of The Day – The Coronavirus – What is God Doing?

Greetings!

We trust that you are safe and healthy in the midst of the current global situation.

Yesterday we did something a little different. We streamed a live video on Facebook regarding the current global situation with the Coronavirus.

We felt that God had shared some insights with us on this and we wanted to share them with everyone, and streaming it live was the quickest, easiest way to accomplish that.

We also recorded the video as it was streaming, and today we uploaded it to our YouTube channel, so people outside of Facebook can also watch it.

Part of this video was Pastor Ellie sharing a prophetic word that she received back in 2012!

We hope you’ll take some time and watch this, and that it will bring some understanding, some peace and some hope for you.

Please click here to watch the video now, or scroll down to watch it below.

Feel free to let us know if you have any questions or comments at all.

Sincerely,

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-19-20

Colossians 3:5 (NKJV) 5 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

The first thing listed above is fornication.

United States census data from 2012 shows that 7.8 million couples were living together at that time, without walking down the aisle, compared to 2.9 million in 1996.

And two-thirds of couples married in 2012 shared a home together for more than two years before they ever made the commitment to marriage.

And recently, it has become a more common option than marriage. According to new U.S. Census Bureau data, as of 2018 15 percent of young adults ages 25-34 live with an unmarried partner.

People are thinking this is the way to go, but do they realize the danger in it?

It’s just getting worse.

It’s not hard to get a marriage license. What’s hard is thinking that we can live together and nothing is wrong with it. We can’t just live together and think God’s going to bless our situation.

Fornication brings on the wrath of God. In His eyes it is direct disobedience toward Him.

Colossians 3:6 (NKJV) 6 Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience…

This is a warning to those that think, for whatever reason, that it’s OK.

The world we live in today may say it’s better, but God has a different view. He says put fornication to death.

Do whatever it takes and make it right. Repent and get married.

There is nothing like saying our vows to each other before God. It is what makes it a Holy Matrimony; a lifelong commitment between a man and women that lasts until death.

May God bless your marriage today!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-18-20

1 John 4:18 (NKJV) 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

There is a lot to learn from this verse.

Most of us can easily understand and comprehend why there should be no fear in love. Love is, after all, not something that conjures up images of fear.

When we love someone, and someone loves us, there should be no fear associated with that relationship. Neither of the two people in that relationship should fear each other. If there is fear, then the relationship is broken and in need of repair.

This scripture, though, goes much deeper than emotional love between two people. It is really referring to the love of God, and our love toward Him.

You see, when we love God, we should not live our lives in fear of Him. Yes, we need to have a reverent fear of Him, but we should not be afraid of His judgement.

Why? Because perfect love, His love, casts out all fear. When we walk in His love, we begin to get an understanding that causes fear to no longer have control over us. It no longer causes us to be apprehensive or anxious.

And this can apply to much more than just the judgement of God. Once we are walking in the perfect love of God, our fear of other things will also begin to melt away.

We will no longer fear things that we can’t control. We will no longer fear people and what they might think or say. And we will no longer fear death.

We can do this because we know that Jesus overcame all of these things, including death.

John 16:33 (NKJV) 33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

So, don’t live in fear. Not fear of man, fear of judgement, fear of death or fear of things that are out of our control.

God is faithful, and He is way bigger than the things that usually scare us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-17-20

Exodus 23:25 (NKJV) 25 “So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you.

I think sometimes we underestimate our God. That’s why we wait at times until things get really bad before we ask for help. That’s why we wait until we are backed up against a wall and have no other answers or way out.

We wait until we finally realize we can’t figure it out ourselves. We give up on trying to do it our way.

This shows God what we think about it, how we see Him. And honestly, it’s hurtful.

I have learned over the years that my stupidity and ignorance has been painful for my Father to watch. God has feelings. That is why He came in the flesh. He felt for us and had compassion for us!

Will we look to Him for who He is? Will we let Him be God in our lives and save us from the awful tragedies that sometimes hit us? Or will we keep trying to do it on our own as long as we have breath in us.

Don’t forget where that breath came from.

Genesis 2:7 (NKJV) 7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

Someone is hurting today, struggling with letting it all go. Someone is struggling with letting Him bring healing, strength, and resting in His righteous hand.

It’s your call. Won’t you let Him help you with your trial today?

Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV) 10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

Our prayers are with you. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-16-20

Jude 1:3 (NKJV) 3 Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.

Contend earnestly for the faith.

Those words really stood out to me as I read this verse. Why? Because they stress the importance of us taking action and being diligent in our walk with God.

There are many things that will come and do their best to derail our faith. The methods used will be vast and diverse. And most of them will be subtle, requiring us to be sharp and discerning so as to recognize them for what they are quickly.

This can apply to false teachings, distractions and other things that come by way of others.

It can also apply to apathy, laziness, indifference and other things that can come by way of our own choices and decisions.

As believers, it’s important that we take responsibility for the condition of our walk with God. Nobody can walk this walk for us.

This is why we are told to work out our salvation with fear and trembling.

Philippians 2:12 (NKJV) 12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;

This isn’t to say that we need to live in fear, but more that we need to take seriously our relationship with the One who not only created us, but saw fit to come to earth in human form and give His life for us.

Remember, God is faithful and He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-14-20

Proverbs 8:21 (NKJV) 21 That I may cause those who love me to inherit wealth, That I may fill their treasuries.

What does it mean to love Him?

Jesus was the perfect example of love. Everything He did was because He loved His Father and He loved us, all the way to the cross. What He did for us was love-driven.

Every healing, every deliverance, every bit of provision was done in love. His motives were pure and for the right reasons.

That’s what it means for us to love. Our motives should not be for bettering ourselves or for our own gain, but to be happy for those around us to have their needs met. Jesus brought so much good to this earth.

Why? Because of love.

His Father sent Him. Why? Because of love.

Why should we love Him? Because He first loved us.

1 John 4:19 (NKJV) 19 We love Him because He first loved us.

We don’t love to gain anything for ourselves. He has already blessed us with Him. But, because we do love Him, He will continue to bless our lives.

In the name of Jesus, love Him!  Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-13-20

2 Peter 1:8-9 (NKJV) 8 For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.

Over the last few days, we have discussed several attributes that Peter listed that followers of Christ should walk out in their lives.

Today, let’s get into why those attributes are so important.

“If these things are yours and abound”.

There is an emphasis here indicating that these attributes don’t just happen. We need to make them ours. We need to put forth the effort that is required to make them a part of our lives, in our actions, not just in words.

They should not just be present, but they need to abound! That is, they should be plentiful and flourishing in our lives. This can only happen as we let the Holy Spirit lead us on a daily basis, being mindful to heed His promptings.

And what does the Word say will happen if we do this?

It says that “you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ”.

Being barren is never a good thing. Being barren means that there is no life within. Various other places in the Bible use the word “barren” to literally mean inactive, lazy and useless.

Being unfruitful is also mentioned. Picture a tree that produces no fruit. That tree is unproductive, and literally not good for anything when compared to the energy it consumes in order to exist.

So, if these qualities aren’t present in our lives, what sets us apart from the unbeliever and makes us distinguishable as a child of God? This is a question we need to ponder seriously.

Verse 9 goes on to tell us that anyone who lacks these things “is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins”.

That’s a pretty bold statement that should grab our full attention pretty quickly!

Shortsighted even to blindness makes us pretty ineffective, don’t you think? In essence it is telling us that we can’t see anything unless it is immediately in front of us.

God wants us to be able to see and discern things long before they are directly in our faces because by the time we recognize them, they will literally be upon us, leaving us no chance to prepare for them and act accordingly.

Peter then wraps this all up by saying that anyone in this condition has forgotten that they were cleansed from their old sins.

That’s a pretty sad state to be in, wouldn’t you agree?

We should never live our lives looking backwards, but we absolutely should never forget what Jesus has cleansed us from, lest we fall right back into it.

John 8:36 (NKJV) 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-12-20

2 Peter 1:7 (NKJV) 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.

We hope you’re enjoying this latest series of devotionals!

Today, let’s move on to verse 7 of 2 Peter, chapter 1.

The next attribute we will look at is brotherly kindness.

This one isn’t deep, in and of itself. But our carrying it out will depend on us putting others before ourselves many times.

Brotherly kindness is more than just simple goodwill toward others. It stems from a genuine love for others that only God can place in us.

In its most basic form, it is brotherly (or sisterly) affection.

But in the Biblical sense, it goes beyond the basics and leads us to mutually sacrifice for each other. It’s a type of giving of ourselves that shows a sincere concern for another’s wellbeing, with no string attached.

And finally, let’s talk about the last attribute; love.

Love is the driving force behind the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is God’s love for us that caused Him to allow Jesus to be crucified in our place on the cross. And it is His love for us that cause Him to offer us His mercy and grace throughout our lives.

The Biblical expression of love goes far beyond anything that man can come up with or accurately express.

It is a deep, holy love that defies human understanding. But God asks this of us over and over again as we are told to love our neighbors as ourselves, love our enemies and pray for those who spitefully use us and persecute us.

This kind of love can only come in our lives as we press in to God and learn of Him in His fullness. His love for us will cause us to allow Him to break us down, and then rebuild us one little piece at a time, in the way that only He can do.

This kind of love will change who we are and the way we walk out our lives here on earth. And it will allow us to see others through the eyes of God, instead of our natural, flawed, selfish vision.

Without Him, it is impossible for us to walk in this kind of love.

Tomorrow we will wrap this up as we discuss verses 8 & 9.

Until then, let’s reflect on these things and ask God to bring understanding in these areas of our lives.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-11-20

2 Peter 1:6 (NKJV) 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness,

As we work our way through the various attributes that God has said we should have, let’s start today with self-control.

There are many sides to being self-controlled, but the biggest factor here is self-discipline.

Without discipline, there is no self-control, plain and simple. It doesn’t matter what area of our lives we talk about, if we have no discipline, self-control will be non-existent.

This is a really big deal, especially when it comes to the fleshly desires that come against us. The flesh is strong and can be very hard for some of us to overcome.

Without the Holy Spirit leading us, the flesh will win almost every time. So, it’s imperative that we not try to conquer the flesh by our own strength, because we will fail badly if we do so.

And, referring back to the knowledge that was discussed in yesterday’s devotional, it’s that knowledge that helps us better understand what it takes and what it means to be disciplined and self-controlled.

Now, let’s move on to perseverance!

Some may think of perseverance simply as patience. But there is a much deeper meaning than what we see on the surface.

Perseverance might also be called tenacity, determination, resolve, commitment or staying power.

You see, it means much more than just being patient.

It indicates a willingness to fight vehemently to do what is right and true. It means taking whatever stand is necessary to do the right thing, even if it means enduring pain, anguish, even to the point of denying one’s self in order to make the “righteous decision”.

This requires a decisive desire to follow the Holy Spirit’s promptings, and His leading, and not deviate from it, no matter how badly our flesh fights us.

And as we wrap up today’s devotional, let’s talk about godliness.

Most people have at least a rudimentary understanding of godliness, in that it means displaying traits inspired by, or shaped by God. Godliness in its most basic form is an outward display of piety or behavior that could be construed as righteous by others.

True godliness goes much deeper, and is impossible without an understanding of God, and the willingness to be disciplined and self-controlled.

It means to live reverently, loyally and obediently toward God. He has equipped us more than sufficiently to be able to live godly lives, even so as to be able to overcome whatever temptations come our way to entice us.

Tomorrow, we will continue with verse 7 and more.
