Bible Verse of The Day – 12-31-19

Luke 21:4 (NKJV) 4 for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had.”

The widow in this verse had touched Jesus’ heart because she gave out of her poverty. Despite being in poverty, she honored God and she gave.

There are some today that don’t even give out of their wealth, let alone out of their poverty. Giving doesn’t enter their minds. They think their money is theirs, and they want it all.

A man that I looked up to at one time said to me, “tithing is only for the old testament days.” It sickened me to hear such a thing. This kind of talk will keep people in bondage.

If tithing is only for the Old Testament, why was Jesus so impacted by what He saw? Why would He notice such detail and effort on the part of this widowed woman?

Because He saw a willingness in her to obey, honor God, and do what was right. No matter what it cost, she was going to give. And yes, from her impoverished state, she gave her offering.

Obedience always moves God. It catches His attention and it causes Him to do the impossible on our behalf.

What are we waiting for today? Do we want to move Him? We can start with giving. Giving from our present situation.

Don’t wait until we have an abundance. And if we do have an abundance, make it count. Make it mean something. May we feel the sacrifice of it.

This widowed woman was in great need herself, but out of her poverty she gave to God first.

Luke 6:38 (NKJV) 38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-30-19

1 Corinthians 15:57 (NKJV) 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Christmas has passed once again, and the hustle and bustle of the season is winding down.

As things settle down, many people will once again be face to face with their situations, no longer being distracted with the Christmas and holiday festivities.

This can be a sobering dose of reality for some.

It doesn’t matter who you are, where you live or what your past has been like. Right now, here in this exact moment, you are faced with things that can be a bit scary for you.

You’ve done your best to pretend it isn’t real. You’ve spent countless hours during the past weeks, or maybe even months, pondering on the “what ifs”, the unforeseen possibilities of your situation.

And yet, no matter how much pondering and wondering you have done, it has gained you nothing. It has not gotten you answers, and it hasn’t laid your fears and concerns to rest.

But here is what you need to know today, right now; your victory doesn’t lie in what you see, think or feel. It lies in the One who breathed life into your lungs and gave your heart its beating rhythm.

Our lives will never be perfect. We will go through valleys and dance on mountaintops. And we will spend countless days somewhere in between.

But in the end, He holds everything in His hands. So, who are we to spend our days fretting and worrying?

Matthew 6:34 (NKJV) 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

This is not a message to hype you up. Nor it is a message to make light of your situation. But it is a message to give you hope, and to let you know that no matter what direction your life takes you, you are safe in the Hands of the One who loves you more than your mind can ever comprehend.

So, rest your mind. Stop fretting. Stop trying to figure it all out.

Give it to Him. Then listen to His voice and do what He tells you to do, whether it seems like something major or something small and seemingly insignificant.

We may not see the victory right away. We may not even know what victory means in our given situation. But it will come, in God’s way and in His timing.

John 16:33 (NKJV) 33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Bible verse of The Day – 12-29-19 – The Increase

Please click to watch the video now.Greetings in the name of Jesus.

Our newest video, The Increase, is live and ready for you to watch it!

In today’s video, we discuss when Jesus rejected the disciples’ request for Him to give them more faith.

The fact that Jesus told them “no” is a bit shocking to some, but we think this new video will help make sense of it, so we hope you’ll take a few minutes and watch it.

Please click here to watch it now.

Enjoy your day and keep pressing in to God.

Bible Verse of the Day – 12-28-19

Colossians 2:6-7 (NKJV) 6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.

Walking in Him.

Be good, be kind, be loving, be ready to suffer, be ready to give, be ready to forgive and be ready to praise Him even when we are hurting.

This part of life is about obedience. Jesus speaks, we obey.

It’s about how much we trust Him with our lives, learning to respond to Him accordingly, without giving it a second thought.

If we believe a chair will hold us up, we will sit in it. If we believe Jesus and what His word says, we will walk in it, no problem. We will practice it and we will study it. We will know it and we will carry it out.

Be rooted!

Keep His word close to our hearts at all times. Know what He says in any given situation. Don’t be shocked at things we may need to take a stand against.

Fear Him more than rejection from family, friends, people we look up to and give Him our all. Amen.

Deuteronomy 8:6 (NKJV) 6 “Therefore you shall keep the commandments of the Lord your God, to walk in His ways and to fear Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-27-19

Romans 2:28-29 (NKJV) 28 For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh; 29 but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God.

The book of Romans is generally regarded as a theologically-deep book. Much of what is written is extremely thought-provoking and can require a great deal of thought, prayer, studying, cross-referencing and pondering to understand.

It’s not a book that we can simply read through casually and expect to gain much insight from.

The topics themselves aren’t necessarily all deep. But they all allude to much deeper insights in one way or another.

The two verses above are the last two in chapter 2. They basically sum up the whole of chapter 2, in just two sentences.

Although it mentions Judaism specifically, the principle Paul is discussing also applies to our walk as Christians.

We can place the label on ourselves and wear it like a banner. But wearing that banner doesn’t make us a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes us a car or swimming in the water makes us a fish.

Our walk with God is a matter of the heart. It is never about how we appear to others or how we present ourselves. Our words can say one thing, but our actions can say something quite different.

The flag we wave can scream “I am a Christian”, but our actions can say nothing to that effect.

We may paint a pretty picture with our words, but our heart may be storing up poison, in danger of spewing it out onto the first person who crosses us or looks at us the wrong way.

Paul said that circumcision is “of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter”. And so it is with the lordship of Christ in our lives.

It is never about the title, appearances, what others think, how many Bible verses we can quote, or how enthusiastically we wave the banner of Christianity in front of men.

It’s about the heart, plain and simple.

Jeremiah 17:10 (NKJV) 10 I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-26-19

1 John 4:20 (NKJV) 20 If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?

While I was out running errands the other day, I was in my car and saw someone I knew, from a distance. They were walking toward their car in the parking lot I had pulled into.

Feeling annoyed just knowing that it was them, I put my head down so I wouldn’t make eye contact and I wouldn’t have to wave to them. Then I continued on with the rest of my day.

A few days later, I saw the same person again. And I immediately got all funny and weird in my attitude. I could tell something wasn’t right.

God began to speak to me, saying, “why don’t you want them to see you or you to see them?”.

I said, “Lord, I don’t really know, other than the fact that they irk me for some reason”.

He said to me, “I say to love your brother, and if you don’t love them then how can you love me?”.

My words were short, for once in my life.

I sat there for a moment and then said, “Yes Lord, You are right. I’m sorry. I will make things right the next time I see them”.

You know, sometimes we don’t even realize what we are doing until God shows us right when we are doing it.

I know I’m not perfect, and there are things I need to work on every day.

But, when God points something out, it’s time we make things right in that area. It’s those little things we need to pay attention to, because that is our moment and that little thing means a lot to God. There’s something we must see and learn.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-25-19

Luke 2:11 (NKJV) 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

Sometimes I ponder on this verse and what actually happened that night, so very long ago.

The depth of it is mind-boggling. But it is a reality nonetheless.

And that reality stares us in the face each and every day; that God came to earth in the form of a man, and walked among us, ultimately dying in our place to atone for our sins. Your sins, and my sins.

Sometimes I get frustrated with the way this event gets celebrated. It has been exploited by manufacturers and retailers to a great degree because they all know that people give gifts to celebrate this event, even if they don’t necessarily follow Christ.

But I try to overlook the blatant commercialism and, instead, look at the massive gift that was given on that holy night.

It is a gift that has eternal ramifications. It is a gift that radically changes lives. It is a gift that has the power to break the back of sin in our lives. And it is a gift that removes the sting of death in the lives of believers.

Many people like to say that we give gifts because the three men who had traveled from afar gave Jesus gifts that night. And that is true. They did give Jesus some incredibly valuable gifts. He was, after all, their newborn King.

But I prefer to look at the gift that was offered to each and every one of us, in the form of a child, a baby who came to offer Himself, that we might have the opportunity to know God one-on-one here on earth, and then spend eternity with Him when our time here is through.

Enjoy your day today, and remember the true reason for the celebration.

We love you all.

Sincerely,

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-24-19

Luke 11:4 (NKJV) 4 And forgive us our sins, For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.”

Forgive us our sins, for we have forgiven those indebted to us.

Are we holding anyone in debt?

Just as we need God’s forgiveness, we also need to forgive others. Daily we must set our will to walk in love and forgiveness. It doesn’t matter what they have done or said, we are not to keep them indebted to us.

How do we do this?

It’s a big change that needs to happen in our hearts. It takes the Holy Spirit and time to learn to walk consistently in this. It takes us loving God so much that even if it hurt us, we will obey.

We are easily tempted to not forgive people when they deliberately hurt us. It is a human reaction. We get stubborn and we clam up. Sometimes we never speak to them again.

It is not a question of should we. It is a must. There are consequences if we do not.

Matthew 6:15 (NKJV) 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Our hearts have to be very close to Him to be ready to forgive in this manner. There has to be an understanding that it is the righteous thing to do.

When we are walking closely with God, it will be more noticeable when we are holding onto something, and we will want to make it right.

Spend time reading His word. He will get close. When it comes time to forgive, our heart will be ready and we won’t even flinch.

Forgive them, let them go, and we will be forgiven for ours.

Isaiah 43:25 (NKJV) 25 “I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-23-19

1 Timothy 6:6-7 (NKJV) 6 Now godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

We teach frequently on contentment; learning to be content, no matter what our current situation looks like.

This is something that we have learned over the years. Many times, this only comes by way of various trials and hard times, where we learn to get by with just enough. For many of us, this can only be learned in very dire circumstances.

As humans, we all would like to be comfortable, not having to worry about whether we will be able to pay our bills on time each week. Each and every one of us is in a different place when it comes to this.

Seasons come and go in our lives, where we might go from the valley to the mountain top, and maybe back into the valley again, and so on. Sometimes it can be frustrating, to say the least.

But as we learn to put our trust in God, no matter what our circumstances are, we begin to learn to be content in a way that only He can teach us.

It’s not just about material things. Yes, there are things we need to live, to survive. But being content is about more than just material things.

We can be content with our job, while looking for something better.

We can be content with our financial situation, while seeking God and asking Him to give us wisdom to handle our finances more wisely.

We can be content with the home that we have, while working diligently toward something better.

Being content doesn’t mean simply sitting back and never working toward something better. It means that we thank God for what we have and where He has us, and we don’t take for granted a single thing that we have been blessed with.

And, finally, it means that we understand the fact that life is not about accumulating earthly possessions.

Yes, we can have nice things. But the value of our life and the meter by which we gauge our success isn’t about how many things we have or the value of those things.

For we surely came into this world with empty hands. And we will most certainly leave it the very same way.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-21-19

Luke 11:35 (NKJV) 35 Therefore take heed that the light which is in you is not darkness.

Darkness is opposed to light.

It disapproves of it or prevents it. It actively resists it or refuses to comply with it.

When we let in error, ignorance, disobedience, willful blindness or rebellion, it taints the light of God that lives in us; that light that we are to walk in as children of God.

Ephesians 5:8 (NKJV) 8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light…

Be careful what we watch & read, what we listen to, and what or who we put our trust in. Those are the channels that darkness can enter in through; the eyes, the ears and the heart.

The Holy Spirit will help protect them if we let Him. You know, that little awkward feeling we get when we are ready to attempt something not good, or say something profane.

It could be the slightest little thing. Maybe something we never thought would hurt us. He will alert us and let us know, even when we don’t know.

Those little things He is alerting us to are the foxes that will take away the tenderness of our heart.

Be alert to catch it when He shows us. Deal with them quickly and accordingly. Don’t overlook them, for they could affect us hugely if we don’t listen.

Song of Solomon 2:15 (NKJV) 15 Catch us the foxes, The little foxes that spoil the vines, For our vines have tender grapes.
