Bible Verse of The Day – 9-19-19

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV) 14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Praying for each other today is so crucial.

We are facing hard times as Believers. Some churches may not want to say this for fear of feeling like we have failed as a bride. But know this; there comes a time when we have to stand up and face what is in front of us. Without admitting to or acknowledging our problems, there will be no solving them.

We, for one, admit that the leadership as a whole has failed in many ways. And people have left the church and turned from God.

They lay wounded and bleeding, hurting and thinking they have nothing or no ONE to put their trust in.

We are so sorry for such a thing to have happened in the very place we would have thought would be safe from the troubles of this world. The very place where we could go and worship Him freely; the very house of God. His sanctuary, His place we could call home. We, as a church, have tainted His sanctuary with foolishness and pride.

We stand and repent to God today and ask Him for forgiveness.

Dear God,

Help us reach those that have lost their faith in you due to wrong handling of their situation; Hype, incorrect teachings, false prophetic words and anything else that the church has allowed in.

Bring healing Lord. Bring healing to your bride, we cry. Bring us together in unity and heal our land today, we ask in the precious name of your Son, Jesus Christ. Help us, Your church, to lead and guide through the truth and the principles of your Word. Amen

Ephesians 6:18 (NKJV) 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-18-19

John 14:15 (NKJV) 15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments.

Jesus was never one to beat around the bush. He always made things very clear and very simple for people to understand when He spoke.

Many times, He used parables. This allowed Him to teach using examples that were relevant to the way people lived because those examples helped people relate to what He was saying.

In the verse above, though, there was no parable needed. There was no story needed to make His point.

He spoke directly to the hearts of His disciples, whom He was addressing at that time.

It’s interesting to note that for the verse above, most manuscripts used the phrase “you will obey my commandments”, instead of just saying “obey my commandments”.

One simply says to obey, while the other says that we will obey.

Think about that. Jesus said that if we love Him, we will keep His commandments.

It’s a heart thing. If we love Him, we will have a desire and a strong conviction to do what He has told us we should do!

It doesn’t mean that we will get it right 100% of the time. It means that we will want to do our absolute best to get it right.

If our heart is in it, we will make every effort to do what pleases Him. If our heart isn’t in it, or if we are half-hearted about it, we will only try when we feel like it, or when it’s convenient for us.

When I was 18 years old, long before I had given my life to Christ, I was dating Pastor Ellie. I was not even close to being a Christian. My life was not a good example of anything Godly.

But Pastor Ellie had given me a gift for Christmas that year. It was a necklace with a cross hanging on it. I have to admit that I was a bit surprised, and I didn’t quite know what to think of it. I just knew that this gift was given out of love, so I appreciated it and treasured it.

As I started wearing it, I began to be convicted of certain things I did on an everyday basis. The first thing I remember was that I began to be convicted if I used God’s name improperly. And even though my language didn’t get cleaned up as a whole, using God’s name, and the name of Jesus improperly came to an end.

Why? Because I came to understand that it was wrong. My heart wanted to do right.

It took me two more years before I gave in to God’s promptings and put my faith in Jesus, but God had already been working on me.

The point in all of this, though, is this; if we love God, we will want to do what is right. It won’t be an afterthought. It will be at the top of our priorities.

It doesn’t mean we will instantly change and begin living a perfect life that pleases God every step of the way. We will be genuinely trying, not so we can be a good person, but because we want to please Him and honor Him in everything that we say and do.

If you love Me, keep My commandments.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-17-19

Psalm 143:10 (NKJV) 10 Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness.

There are a lot of things we have to learn when we become God’s child. It’s not time for us to put our feet up and just relax. It’s time to learn. It’s time to go to school.

Life is good when God becomes our God through His precious Son, Jesus Christ. God’s Spirit is a good Spirit and we are very blessed to have been given such a beautiful gift. Amen.

We must not think we can just kick back. But instead, we need to be steadfast in our learning. God will teach us His very Will for each one of us. Of course ours will be different than others, but we ultimately will be working in unity toward fulfilling God’s will on this earth together.

Only God can pull this off.

So, let us individually be taught God’s will for us, using our gifts and strengths through Him to reach those places and people we never thought we could reach.

2 Chronicles 15:7 (NKJV) 7 But you, be strong and do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded!”

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-16-19

Proverbs 11:2 (NKJV) 2 When pride comes, then comes shame; But with the humble is wisdom.

Have you ever had your mind made up about something, and nobody can convince you otherwise, no matter how much truth you see showing you that you’re wrong about it?

That is pride in action.

Pride is a destroyer of many things; relationships, careers, families, opportunities, and much more.

Pride can even destroy our destiny if we’re not careful. Look what satan said when pride swallowed him up.

Isaiah 14:14 (NKJV) 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’

And did you know that stubbornness is actually a form of pride in many cases? Some people confuse persistence with stubbornness, but being stubborn can lead to much destruction if we’re not careful.

Every one of us has some amount of pride in us. We can appear to be humble. We can even think we’re humble. But if we let God shine His light on us, and we are 100% honest, we will begin to see areas in our lives where we are prideful.

And once we see it, we need to take action to let God root it out. It’s not optional if we truly want to live lives that are pleasing to God and fruitful for His kingdom.

Proverbs 16:18 (NKJV) 18 Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-14-19

John 6:37 (NKJV) 37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.

Learning to accept each other, before God does a work in us, is hard. But, Jesus does just that.

He says, “come”!

He doesn’t say to wait and come when you have changed all your bad habits. He doesn’t say to come when you are perfect. He says come now, just as we are. And He will not cast us out.

We have to learn to have the same heart as Christ; the same outlook. We can’t look at people with a judging eye. We will shut them out immediately because we will always find something. We will turn and walk away with an attitude saying, “we are not going to associate with them until they get it right”.

OK, get WHAT right? Who are we to talk about getting things right? What’s our story before Christ saved us?

I bet we can all share some ugly things. You know what’s ugly and hurtful in God’s eyes? It’s not our dirt. It’s not our story. It’s how we treat others.

When someone needs Him and we shut them down, because we don’t like their life style, their attitude or their looks, that’s uglier than anything else!

Our own hearts have to change. We must open up and let God help us to know such a love, such patience, and such discerning that we too can act correctly when we see someone doing wrong; someone struggling with a weakness or temptation.

We need the heart of God moving through us if we want to help others.

We challenge you today, the next time you see someone doing something other than what we know to be right, go to God and ask for direction as to how we can be of some help.

Helping may simply be praying for them. Other times it may mean reaching out and speaking up. But, never give up on them. God is faithful to help us all, no matter who we are or what we have been through.

Matthew 11:28 (NKJV) 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-13-19

Deuteronomy 6:5 (NKJV) 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

Where is God?

That might sound like an odd question. Let me clarify. Where is God in your life? Where is He in my life?

Is He the number one priority in our lives? Or does He fall somewhere lower than number one?

The answer to that question will tell us a lot. It will tell us where our heart lies. It will tell us a little about the path we’re on. And it might tell us a little about why certain things happen to us, good or bad.

You see, God has told us to love Him with everything in us; all our heart, all our soul and all our strength. That’s a lot of love directed toward Him. This pretty much means to love Him with every little bit of who we are.

It can’t be half. It has to be all. Jesus also stated this when He said to seek first the kingdom of God.

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

There’s something about loving Him above all other people and all other things that changes us. It changes the way we think. It changes the way we act. It changes the direction that our lives go.

More than all of that, it changes our destiny. If we love Him above all else, it will alter everything about us.

It takes effort to do this. A conscious effort. But it’s worth every bit of work required. The rewards are beyond comprehension, now and forever.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-12-19

Deuteronomy 31:8 (NKJV) 8 And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”

Change can be exhausting. It can be fun. It can be sad. It can be exciting. But the most important thing it can be when following God is very fulfilling and peaceful. That’s how we know it’s God’s change.

Why do we get so nervous when change comes, even though we may actually want it? Because we want to be the ones to initiate it and determine how it will come.

If there is one little bit of something unknown to us, our minds go into troubleshooting mode. And we’d better get ready, because what happens after that? Exhaustion.

Exhaustion kicks in when our minds try to figure out God’s plan or the change He wants to usher in.

To save us from getting exhausted and cranky, don’t go there. Don’t try to figure it out, because it won’t happen.

God will guide our steps, open doors, close doors and do whatever else is necessary to get us where He wants us to be. We don’t have to wear ourselves out trying to figure it all out. Just move when He says to. He goes before us and prepares the way.

We have His Word. Hold fast to it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-11-19

Psalm 27:14 (NKJV) 14 Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!

As we grow and mature in our walk with God, we like to think that we will also grow when it comes to learning to wait on His timing for things in our lives.

The problem is that it doesn’t always happen the way we would like it to.

Sometimes we get impatient and step out on our own, ahead of God. This can get us into trouble.

Many people know the story of Abraham and Sarah, and how they took it upon themselves to “help” God deliver on His promise to bring them a son. And we all know how that turned out. It wasn’t good at all.

There is another example of this in God’s word that we rarely hear about, so let’s take a look at it and see how it played out.

After Jesus had ascended to heaven, the apostles decided that they needed to fill the place that was left empty by the departure of Judas. They felt it was important to keep the number at 12. So, they began to reason it all out.

Acts 1:22 (NKJV) 22 beginning from the baptism of John to that day when He was taken up from us, one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection.”

As they began to work it out, they narrowed it down to two different people who had followed Jesus for a very long time; Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.

Once they had narrowed it down to these two men, they drew lots and chose the new apostle, Matthias.

Acts 1:26 (NKJV) 26 And they cast their lots, and the lot fell on Matthias. And he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

Now, it might not seem like they were doing anything wrong if we stopped right here. They did, after all, want the number of apostles to be 12, since that was the number Jesus had chosen.

What they didn’t know, however, is that God had already chosen someone else to take that 12th spot. His name was Paul.

If you read through the rest of the New Testament, you will never see the name of Matthias mentioned again. Paul, however, became a powerhouse for God, building and growing the body of Christ until his very last days, even dying for his faith.

You see, even powerful men and women of God can wrestle with His timing sometimes, trying, instead, to do things by human understanding.

So, it’s important that we make our decisions and choices very carefully, being patient to wait on God to bring His plans to fruition in His perfect timing.

Wait, I say, on the Lord!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-10-19

Luke 12:6-7 (NKJV) 6 “Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. 7 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

God does not forget. We are all very important to Him.

He knows the number of hairs on our very head. And He knows our heart, whether we are happy, sad, disappointed or in a state of depression. He knows if we are fretting or if we are trusting.

We are the only ones that can choose our course. God loves us and is there for us every second, but we choose whether or not to let Him really help us.

He will complete the work that needs to be done, if we let Him go before us.

He will win the battle with us, if we let Him teach us how to walk in His wisdom and discernment.

He will sustain us if we heed His voice and promptings.

We are more valuable to Him than we know. Let Him go before us and win this battle that torments us day and night.

Psalm 55:22 (NKJV) 22 Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-9-19

Matthew 4:4 (NKJV) 4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”

Jesus used the word of God to defend Himself against the temptations that the devil was hitting Him with. He didn’t go into long speeches or enter into debates with him. He simply spoke the word of God.

If Jesus did this, how much more important is it that we get the word of God in us and so we can use it as a weapon against the enemy?

We need the word of God in our lives on a daily basis.

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

It’s not just a coincidence that those who spend the most time in God’s word usually have a stronger walk with God.

On a recent fishing trip, I was having a discussion of Biblical topics with one of the men on my boat. He made a statement that was interesting. He said that he did some studying of people who moved in the gift of healing and found that one of the strongest common threads among all of them was the amount of time they spent in the word of God.

We obviously shouldn’t spend time in the Word solely with an expectation of becoming a prophet, or to attain any other spiritual gift or office. But the fact that most of these people do spend large amounts of time in God’s word helps to prove the need for it in all of our lives.

God’s word builds our trust in Him, thereby giving us stronger faith. And this just makes us stronger each and every day in so many different ways.
