Bible Verse of The Day – 7-9-19

1 John 2:5 (NKJV) 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him.

People may question their relationship or their salvation at times. But if we pay attention to what this verse is saying, we will know the answer to where we stand with God.

Whoever keeps His word. What does it mean to keep His word?

It simply means we obey Him and do our best to follow Him in everything we do.

Sometimes it will be easy for us, because our flesh will go along with the right thing to do. But, other times our flesh will not like what the Spirit of God is convicting us of and it will buck or rebel against it.

If we truly love God, our Spirit man will rise up and do the right thing. We will follow His convictions and do what He is asking us to do, in spite of our feelings.

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Our love toward Him will cause us to want to obey and be loyal in our hearts and minds, and to want to do His will.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-8-19

James 4:10 (NKJV) 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.

It’s not very often that we think of God exalting us. Usually we think more of us exalting God.

But there are definitely times when God exalts us or lifts us up. Let’s take a look at this and see what we can get from it.

First, God specifies who He will lift up. Who would that be? Those who humble themselves in His sight.

God wants us to be humble. Humility has many benefits, whereas pride has many downfalls.

Now let’s look at why God would lift us up or exalt us.

He wants us to exemplify Christ. And He wants us to bring glory and honor to His name. It’s hard for us to do this if we are haughty, conceited or prideful.

Prideful people aren’t typically received well by others. People who think more highly of themselves than they should will tend to repel people, rather than attract them.

On the other hand, people who are humble will usually tend to attract others.

But wait. Does it really matter if we’re popular with others or not?

No. Not really. This isn’t about being popular. It’s about being a representative of God on the earth. We can’t represent God very well if people tend to stay away from us because of pride.

Because of this, it’s important that we let God show us where pride might be lurking in our lives, so we can let Him help us root it out.

In the long run, as we become humbler, more Christlike, we will begin to be able to see God work in our lives on a larger scale.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-6-19

1 Peter 3:11 (NKJV) 11 Let him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it.

When evil tries to pull on us or cause us to do something we don’t want to do, this scripture directs us to “turn away” and do good.

This is not easy, especially if we like what we are indulging in. It will take a change of heart.

Have you ever tried to change a heart? Whoa, it’s stubborn as a mule. I have never changed one on my own and probably never will. But I do know the One who can, if we are willing to let Him deal with the root of the problem.

God changes a heart! His love digs deep and touches that very spot that needs touching.

In order to turn away from these types of things completely, it has to be a deep-down, heartfelt turning. This means that we sincerely want nothing to do with it and we ask God for help. It has to be real in order to work.

We will feel at times like there is a constant battle going on inside us. This is a battle between our flesh and our spirit. This is, “I want it, but part of me knows it’s wrong and I shouldn’t”.

There is no peace in this war. Nothing but frustration, anger and confusion. Who want’s to live like that? No, we want peace.

How do we get it?

The verse says let him seek and pursue it. Go to God, confess to Him. Tell Him what is happening on the inside and let Him direct our steps. That peace comes when we listen and follow His steps.

He will be straight forward with us and not beat around the bush. But we must be serious in our seeking and pursuing.

Peace should be a walk that every believer seeks and pursues daily.

Bring us peace Lord, help us get rid of the things that cause us to war within our bodies, minds, and our hearts. Help us to choose good things. Amen.

1 Peter 2:15 (NKJV) 15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men—

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-5-19

James 4:10 (NKJV) 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.

We often hear about making sure we lift God up and exalt Him. And so it should be. After all, He is God, right?

But did you know that there are times when God lifts us up and exalts us?

Yep! His word says so!

Now, this doesn’t mean that we should get prideful and puffed up about it. On the contrary, we need to be humble. If we are not humble, God will never even consider lifting us up.

It’s our pride that keeps us from being close to God. And it will be our pride that causes us to fall if we don’t keep it in check.

But God loves humility. He loves it so much that He says He will lift us up and exalt us if we’re humble.

Luke 18:14 (NKJV) 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

It’s safe to say that if God takes humility seriously, then we should also!

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-4-19

Psalm 121:2 (NKJV) 2 My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.

About a month ago, I decided to ride a scooter with my grand-kids, who are 12 & 10 years old. They had theirs and I had one of my own too.

We were having a grand time and they couldn’t believe their Grandmommy was scooter riding alongside them.

I kept up pretty good and was happy to be out there with them.

We were almost back to our yard when I got a little too close to the edge of the road and hit the soft dirt. In slow motion I went over the top of the handle bars and landed on the ground.

My grandson was the nearest to me and asked if I was alright. My granddaughter, a little up ahead, turned back and shouted, “Oh no, Grandmommy, are you alright”?!

I got up so fast, I didn’t care if I had broken a bone or not. I didn’t care if I was bleeding or not. I just got up very quickly and said, “let’s get home”. I didn’t want anyone to see me.

It was mostly my pride that was hurt and I didn’t feel anything else until the next day, as you can imagine.

Needless to say, PRIDE is a funny thing. We could be dying and not want anyone to know we’re hurting, physically, emotionally or in any other way.

If you are struggling or in pain over anything, please get help today. Don’t be afraid to say something. When we need help, ask the Lord.

Leave dumb old pride by the side of the road and get the help we need.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-3-19

John 15:7 (NKJV) 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.

We all wonder sometimes why our prayers seem to go unanswered. We seek, and we ask. And the answer doesn’t seem to come.

There can be various reasons for this, but the verse above holds the key to why some of them may not be given to us.

Actually, one word is the key: Abide

Abide: accept or act in accordance with (a rule, decision, or recommendation).

Abide can also mean to obey, to conform to, to heed, etc.

Once we understand the importance of this, abiding in Him and His words abiding in us, we can start to take steps toward making this happen in our lives.

To be clear, it’s not something legalistic or ritualistic. It’s a heart thing. It has to be sincere in its execution, not done with impure motives.

And in reality, if we are making efforts to grow our walk with God, this will all happen naturally, without us even giving it a thought.

So, let’s be sure that we are putting the time and effort into drawing closer to God each day, by spending time in His word and taking the time to communicate with Him personally.

And as we do this, so many other things will fall into place for us.

James 4:8 (NKJV) 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-2-19

1 Peter 3:12 (NKJV) 12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their prayers; But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

How very encouraging! His eyes are on the righteous and His ears are open to their prayers.

Who are the righteous?

2 Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV) 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

If we are without Christ, on our own, God sees us as sinners. But, through Christ we become the righteousness of God. As soon as we accept Jesus as our Lord, we step out of our old self and become a new creation.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

NEW… praises be to God!

Be comforted today. This is a promise to us. If we are in some kind of trouble, God knows. His very eyes see it and He’s listening to our prayers.

Doesn’t this just make you want to stand up and shout? Someone as great as our Lord has our back.

Don’t let the lies of the enemy, his little scare tactics, try and keep us walking around worried and trembling anymore. We have Jehovah Jireh watching and listening. We just have to keep talking, keep believing and keep walking! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-1-19

Philippians 4:19 (NKJV) 19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

These are words to live by. They are words that should assure us that we will never lack what we need.

One of the biggest lessons for all of us is in these four words; “supply all your need”.

Notice that it doesn’t say “supply all your want”?

Nope. All you “need” is the correct wording. This can help us greatly when we lack understanding, or if we’re feeling let down because we haven’t gotten everything we want.

You see, God has promised us that we will have what we need. Once we understand that, and we start to separate what we want from what we need, we will begin to feel satisfied, content with what we have.

And it’s good for us to know that God will supply our needs. He has no lack. So even if we have lack, He is faithful to help us get what we need.

It may not always come the way we want it to, in the timing we want it to come in, or even wrapped in the package we want it wrapped in. But it will come.

The question is this: will we recognize it when it does come? Will we see it for what it is?

Or will we miss out on it because it doesn’t arrive with loud bells and flashing lights?

Rest assured that God will supply our need according to His riches in glory. We just have to be ready to receive it.
