Bible Verse of The Day – 4-8-19

Philippians 4:19 (NKJV) 19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

If there is one thing that I have learned over the years, it’s this; God is faithful.

It doesn’t matter what we face, God is always the One we can count on. He doesn’t get scared and run. He doesn’t get mad and turn His back. He doesn’t forget His promises.

So many of us spend so many hours of our lives worrying needlessly. Yes, at the time when we’re worrying, whatever we’re worrying about seems pretty big to us. And some of the things we worry about might actually be big.

But God is always bigger. Period.

Why is it so hard for us to remember that when we’re face to face with a trial, a dilemma or a “monster” of some kind that’s threatening to swallow us up?

That may seem like a rhetorical question. But it’s not. It’s an honest question that we all need to try to answer if we’re going to learn to let our faith and trust in God be tested and, ultimately, to grow.

When a need arises, no matter what kind of need it is, God is able. He can supply it. The notion or idea that He can’t isn’t even a possibility.

Let’s work hard at getting our heads and our hearts to grasp this awesome truth, and then live it out.

My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory, by Christ Jesus!

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-6-19

Colossians 1:10 (NKJV) 10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;

As we submit to God and commit our actions, our tongue, our thoughts, our whole heart and being to Him, we are walking in this worthiness. And it pleases God!

We have to put the effort in and be willing to change things up quickly when God prompts us or when the Holy Spirit convicts us.

Be alert to the promptings of the Holy Spirit through the discernment that God will give us as we grow and learn each day. It’s amazing how alert we become when we stay close to Him and give Him our time.

Life is so much more peaceful; things go more smoothly as we walk worthy or in honor of Jesus. It is a growing process, as we increase in strength, patience and longsuffering. And doing so brings us great joy!

Colossians 1:11 (NKJV) 11 strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy…

When we walk worthy of Him, we will be fruitful in the things we do and increasing in His knowledge!

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-5-19

Matthew 18:9 (NKJV) 9 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire.

Sin is something that most people don’t like to hear about or think about. It’s not a pleasant topic no matter how we look at it.

But Jesus took sin pretty seriously.

It’s most common for us to hear all about how Jesus loved people and helped them. And this is true. But it’s also true that Jesus addressed sin, whether speaking to crowds or one-on-one with someone He encountered.

He told people to go and sin no more. He told some that He had come to call sinners to repentance. He addressed a crowd and reminded them all of their sins when He said “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone”.

But, one of the most serious things He ever said about the detriments of sin is in the verse above. Jesus took sin seriously enough to say that if our eye causes us to sin, it is better to pluck it out and throw it away than to leave it in place and continue to sin.

This is something we all need to take to heart. And it’s something we need to take a look at in our own lives. All too often we tend to look at others. But Jesus is telling us to take a look at ourselves.

Did He want us to literally pluck our eye out if it has caused us to sin? More than likely He was speaking figuratively. But the seriousness of what He said should still get our full attention.

God, please show us our sins. Help us to not only recognize them, but to acknowledge and admit to them. And to let You help us put a stop to them, one by one. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-4-19

Galatians 3:28 (NKJV) 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Where we have come from, the denomination we are involved in, the titles we hold or the size of our bank account do not cause us to be loved more than anyone else by Christ.

In Jesus’ eyes we are one. He loves that person that is living out on the street just as much as the person living in a mansion. He loves a Baptist just as much as He loves a Catholic. He loves a chamber maid just as much as He loves a clerk. He loves a missionary just as much as a Priest, Pastor, Bishop or Reverend.

Now, if Jesus says we are one in Him, we must begin to act as if we are one. How do we live together like this?

Jesus Christ must rule over our flesh, because our flesh does not know how to judge rightly. But His Spirit is righteous and true.

We have to let Him teach us and show us how to walk in such a manner of respect towards others. We must learn how to push down the flesh and its judgement and let the Lord guide us in our thoughts and actions if we want to live according to His statues and His way of seeing things.

Romans 12:3 (NKJV) 3 For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

We must fight our own flesh and stop it from thinking of ourselves more highly than others.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-3-19

John 14:27 (NKJV) 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Peace: freedom from disturbance; tranquility, restfulness, lack of anxiety.

The world pursues peace. We hear about it literally every day on a global level.

Individuals pursue peace on a personal level. We all desire peace in one way or another.

And yet peace seems to elude most who seek it. Why? Because most of us look for it in the wrong places or by the wrong means.

True, lasting peace only comes from one Source; Jesus Christ.

When we commune with God, we become one with Him. His spirit gives us peace of mind. But it gives so much more.

God gives us freedom, through Christ; release from the things that try to weigh us down and keep us in bondage.

Think about it. The world has removed God from just about everything they can remove Him from. They’ve kicked Him out. And yet they still seek peace, to no avail.

Church, we have the key to peace; Jesus.

It’s up to us to share this peace with others. We do this by living it out on a daily basis, loving people, demonstrating His peace in our everyday lives, even when the world seems like it’s falling apart.

There is much to be said for being a walking, talking testimony of His love, which brings a peace that surpasses understanding!

Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV) 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-2-19

Ephesians 4:32 (NKJV) 32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

Be kind to one another.

Some of us have been raised by people who are mean, negative, and degrading. Some people have been deeply scarred by this. Some have gone through things that has caused them to become hard on the inside.

What can we do to fix this? How can we change the way we feel about others?

Our hearts have to be changed. They have gotten hard throughout the journey. They have to be made soft all over again.

Ezekiel 36:26 (NKJV) 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

God will give us a new heart. He will take that abused, damaged, scarred heart and give us a healed, renewed and completely changed heart, all by us saying yes, Lord.

It doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time. But our heart will begin to change and we will start to see a difference once we say yes to God.

When God changes us, we don’t want to look back, unless maybe He wants us to share our testimony to help others.

A kind heart comes when we surrender our broken heart to Him.

Psalm 34:18 (NKJV) 18 The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-1-19

Nehemiah 2:12 (NKJV) 12 Then I arose in the night, I and a few men with me; I told no one what my God had put in my heart to do at Jerusalem; nor was there any animal with me, except the one on which I rode.

Sometimes when God tells us or shows us something, the first thing we want to do is run and tell everyone else. We get excited and can’t seem to help ourselves.

But sometimes God wants us to hold onto what He says. And there are good reasons for that!

The verse above doesn’t expound on exactly why Nehemiah kept his upcoming mission a secret. But it was very likely because he knew that telling others would put him and the work he was setting out to do at risk.

God wants us all to learn this too. Sometimes He tells us something, or shows us something. He puts something in our heart to do and He wants us to hold onto it and protect it.

You see, we have an enemy. And the enemy’s goal is to steal, kill and destroy everything that is tied to God’s kingdom.

Learning to hold onto what God shows us will help keep it protected and hidden from prying eyes and ears. It will keep it protected from hindrances and possible destruction. It may well even protect us in some way.

So, despite the urge to tell people about everything that God has placed in our hearts to do, we need to remember to be careful and use discernment, given to us by His Spirit, to learn when to hold and when to tell.
